Last week after updating Windows 10 on my Lenovo laptop, it restarted with a blue screen. Unable to booth. I checked on Microsoft support and they offered several ways to fix it. Not having the time, I checked around my area and found Comp-Pros. Most of their reviews were 5 stars, so I decided to take it there. The gentleman that waited on me, told me that the technician would check it and would call me around 2pm. I specifically mentioned that I did not want my C Drive reset/reformat or Windows reinstalled as it would erase my commercial apps. At 5pm, since nobody contacted me, I called and a lady answered the phone saying, they were extremely busy and had not time to touch my computer. The following morning, the same person that saw me the first time, called me to tell me if I wanted to have my C drive reformat and windows reinstalled. I said: NO, if you can't fix it, I am going to pick it up in the afternoon and take it somewhere else. To my surprise, when I showed at 6pm, another gentleman with an eastern-European accent told me that my computer was disassembled and he needed to put it back together. After 10 minutes where I noticed, he could put one screw together, I told him I would come back in the morning for it. I got upset for the fact, they mistakenly disassembled my computer and were not able to fix it. I brought it home, I downloaded windows image on my usb. I followed the instructions on youtube. I went to command prompt and did a chkdsk f/ c: and in less than 40 minutes. My computer was fixed. Why Comp-Pros messed up on me? not sure and hope this will not affect the other positive reviews but I am upset, you opened up my brand new laptop and none of your experts could fix it. I am no technician and I fixed it. Does that tell you something about your business? Need to put more attention who do you hire. One thing is, I would never trust this so called technician with the eastern-European accent with my equipment. read more

Add me to the list of satisfied customers with 5-star reviews. You've got a problem with your machine? Call these guys. In our case, it wasn't so cut and dry as we were bringing in a home-built desktop computer that wasn't quite finished due to issues that we couldn't figure out. After being told by a number of businesses, "we don't do that" or just weren't interested, Comp-Pros said, "sure, bring it in!" They diagnosed the problem and gave us a really reasonable quote. Then they ordered one new part and the price was not a penny more than they said. We thought the motherboard was shorted but they said they tested it and it was fine. I know of other places who wouldn't have been so honest. They even installed a new OS on it even though we didn't request it. Finally, they're great to deal with. Very friendly with a "can do" kind of an attitude. I'd feel comfortable recommending this place to anybody who's got a computer problem. Honest review, My first choice was Best Buys, Geek Squad, however when i attempted to call Best Buy, the wait time just to make contact with a live person was horrific. So I googled computer repair in my area and I contacted Comppros. Mr. Tyrone answered on the first ring....impressive, he gave me directions and advise me the cost would be $65.00 for a computer inspection. Still Geek Squad was on my mind, upon arrival to Best Buy I waited in line for 20min. Just to reach the counter and then to be advised it would be two hours before a tech could inspect my computer, and the cost would be $95.00. At this point i said forget it, I will give Comppros a chance to earn my business. Upon arrival to the store i met with Tyrone, he gathered my info and i explained what the problem was he stated the time would be approximately 3hours. Three hours came and gone with no call back i finally called back and was advised the tech wasn't able to look at my computer and they would get back with me. I advised ok no problem I wasn't in a rush I just like for some one to do what they say they will do such as call me back. On Monday I received a call on my voice mail Tyrone was very apologetic he explained he wanted to make sure the problem was solved before he contacted me. To make a long story short and thank you for reading thru this......I Am Happy with my computer repair small repair 2009 mack with 3-beeping sounds and the system would no boot up. My Tyrone replaced two memory chips with two of his own. I don't know if it was by accident or what but my final cost was $95.00 I attempted to give him a tip mainly because he was nice and polite and it was had to be mad a someone whom showed me respect.....So i will now only take my computer and and iPad to Comppros. Excellent customer service...really, and i hope my review will help someone use this computer repair store....P.s the parking is terrible no parking behind the building only street parking, the store is small i noticed maybe one chair in the waiting area but the customer service makes up for it.... read more

My computer crashed and I really don't know very much about computers. I read the reviews about Computer Professionals and decided to take mine in. They told me they would check it out and if fixing it would cost more than 100.00 they would call before they fixed it, and also give me an update before any work was done. They repaired my computer and it was only 97.00. It wouldn't even turn on when I pushed the start button. The staff was very friendly and helpful! I have told my friends about this place and will go back in the future if I have any other problems. Usually I just throw my computer out and buy a new one. Glad I found this company! read more

I didn't want to post a negative review. I really tried not to. This is the gift that keeps on giving and I'm spending another day having to deal with my computer that was caused by very sloppy work. Seeing all the positive reviews, this was the first shop I called. Asked if they were very busy, as I needed my computer asap. It is my work computer and I was working on a job. I was told about the rush fee, but declined, as they told me it would be ready in a few days, anyway. My issue was that my computer didn't recognize my monitor. I think that my USB ports were failing. I am not a computer tech, although I can repair my computer through trial and error and google and you tube. I asked them to look at it etc. , and mentioned that my computer is fine and they could probably transfer my hard drive to either an external hard drive or another computer. I must use XP in order to run my software,which is not off the shelf software, it is industrial. After days of "call back later" I finally went down to their shop, to take my computer back. I lost a client, since I couldn't access my files etc. No one at any time talked to me about what they were doing, what I needed, and options. So, when I walked in I was unhappy to begin with. Apparently the tech person was sick. I felt badly, so there was a computer in line, that they had apparently transfered my files to. It was my job, I paid, with still no advice on the repair or transfer. At that point, I just wanted my hard drive back. So here it was in another computer, that's fine. 1. this is a computer from 2002 - it was the dirtiest computer I have ever seen. I hope I can post pictures. What would it have taken to clean it. Dust as thick as a sponge. I have no idea what is inside. This was actually bulging out the front panel - thats how much dust. 2.All my programs were gone! This may be normal, but how about telling me first. I couldn't even open PDF file or XL or .jpg. 3. It took me 3 hours to install my graphics program. Some of the errors were pretty gnarly ....but I kept at it. Oh yeah, I lost all my fonts! It took me years to create my font library. 4. Wouldn't let me go online -- re: firewall -- and/or browser program. that took another few hours, but I eventually was able to install a netgear wireless usb device. 5. Same with printer about 2 hours , I lost Microsoft Office, which I cannot find the CD., 6. there are double icons on my desktop and my trash is filled with my files why? .... and what drove me to write this: Trying to open a .jpg ( that I was sending from gmail. I could not. I could not open any PDF either.At the very least the windows accessory that opened files was gone. Some how Windows media player is connected to opening .jpgs. Really? I could not have had a better experience at Comp-Pros! After spilling coffee on my MacBook Pro, my main concern was losing all my data (I don't understand how the cloud works). I took it to Apple, who said they can fix my laptop for $755 but couldn't retrieve my data so they recommended some repair shops-- all of which were closed on Sunday. Comp-Pros was luckily open and had great reviews on Yelp so I decided to try it-- and not only were they able to retrieve all my data, they also offered me a replacement laptop that was the same model as my previous laptop for $450 with a 30 day warranty. I considered just getting my data on a hard drive ($130 +$100 for a 1TB hard drive) and investing in an Air, but I was happy with my old model and this deal was too good to be true! Antonio was incredibly kind and patiently answered all my frantic questions. I thought I would have to wait a week to get my laptop back, but they took care of me within 24 hours! These guys are life savers and I could not recommend them more highly! read more

I spoke with them on the phone this past week, described my problem, the fellow sounded intelligent, capable, they were open 7 days a week, including Sundays from 11-4. I said I'd be by on Sunday, I drove over, was surprised at the parking challenges in that neighborhood, finally found parking in a public lot on a side street, paid for that, walked my laptop to their storefront only to discover that whoever was on duty that day had gone for lunch and wouldn't be back until 2:10. It was 1:15. Really? You are open for 5 hours on a Sunday and you take an hour for lunch? You couldn't bring a sandwich to work? Order in? Expletives deleted, but they are off my list and the search continues for a competent computer repair service on the Westside since the one shop in the Palisades tragically just closed. P.S. Broken logic board on my Mac, $65 dollar fee to check what's wrong with your Mac but that cost is included if you decide to repair it with them so it's like not paying $65. The only thing I have to complain about is that they were sent the wrong logic board replacement so I had to wait a little longer. I went from not being able to boot to working fine. From 8/1/11 to 8/1/13 I was hired as the managing partner to get a local performance gym off the ground. My plate was more then full. The location of the facility is on the bottom floor of a 10 story building. Unfortunately the space had poor internet connection capabilities due to all the concrete walls and how it was partially a dead zone for wireless connection. We had to switch from Verizon to Time Warner and the problem continued. Allen and Alex and the team they have were always an amazing help. It was never their issue but they always followed though and went out of there way with Time Warner techs to make sure they fixed the problem. Again, it was never an it issue but because the Computer Professionals are my go to IT company I always called Allen for advice and help. Spilled tea on keyboard of laptop. Partially disassembled it to blow it out with compressed air, but two ribbon cables disconnected, and I couldn't figure out how to reconnect them. Took unit to CompPro, and they were able to fix it easily (for them), and it was done in a day for a total cost of $65. Two women in reception were very helpful, patient, and nice. That in itself deserves 3 of the 5 stars. It's professional, fast, and everyone seems to know what they're doing. I wouldn't think about going anywhere else. When the initial company I hired to create a social meeting website failed at delivering a functioning site within a year, I went to Comp-pros.com and worked with Alex to help make the malfunctioning site work properly. They said it would cost me $8,000. I paid them $4,000 up front and promised the other $4K upon completion. A few months later, I still had a malfunctioning site with no progress being reported by Comp-pros. So I went into their office to see how it's going and was told by Allen that the site isn't even up for them to work with. I told him it was up and he was able to go into it right in front of me. I then mentioned it's still not working right and asked what they'd worked on thus far. He couldn't describe items worked on nor produce any log/record of time spent on my project, BUT he was quick to say I owed another $4,000 to which I responded, "Do I have STUPID written on my forehead?" When I said if they can't get my site working properly, I would take them to small claims court to get my money back, he said, "You're lucky we're not suing you for the other $4,000." Really??!! read more

I took my computer here after reading the fantastic reviews. I have no idea of why they have 5 stars. Here's my experience from 10/5/15: My HP laptop screen stopped working during a trip. I replaced the screen myself 1 year and a half ago so I was worried it was a connection that had gone bad since the screen itself was fairly new. At home, I took the screen off and disconnected and reconnected it a few times hoping it was just loose, but that didn't fix it. Since I knew a computer repair shop would have to take it apart I did not put it back together. I took it in to Comp-Pros ALREADY TAKEN APART for the diagnostic. Their receptionist seemed very unseasoned. She told me that even though I brought it in already disassembled, I would have to pay a $65 disassembly fee (it's already in the contract they make you sign when you drop off your pc) just for someone to look at it and diagnose it. I reluctantly signed because I had no choice. They won't take your PC if you don't sign this document. Then I asked if someone could look at the next day which was a Saturday. She said even though they have Saturday hours they really only have one part time person on Saturday so the soonest anyone could get to it would be Monday. I asked for a claim ticket. She said they don't give those out. So I said, "So I'm giving you my PC and you don't give me anything that proves I left it here? Not even a copy of the contract I signed?" She said, "No, I can sign a business card for you if you'd like," and laughed. (WTH?!) Thinking this place has great reviews, I convinced myself to trust them. I called the following Monday to see if they were done. The receptionist said she called me and left a message. I said, "I didn't get a voice mail or a missed call." She said, "I called you on xxx-xxx-xxxx." I said, "That's not my number. My number is the one I'm calling you on. It's the one I wrote down on your form." She said, "Oh, it's not xxx-xxx-xxxx?" I said, "No, it's the one I'm calling you on. You're one digit off." She said, "Hold on." She put me on hold and came back about a minute later saying, "I talked to the technician. He did look at it and diagnosed it. It was the screen. It went bad. The technician has a screen here that will work for your PC. It will be $185 to install it." I said, "Whoa. I can get a new screen and install it myself for $50. I've done that before. I replaced it myself less than two years ago. I'll just come pick up my PC." She said, "Oh, okay," and we hung up. Five minutes later, she called back. "Hi, Our technician is in a great mood! He said because you brought your PC in already disassembled, he'll waive the $65 disassembly fee." I quickly weighed my options. My replacement screen was still under warranty and I could get a new one for free, but it could take a few weeks. I wanted my laptop now, so I said, "Okay, it's still cheaper if I do it myself, but if he has a new screen there and I can pick it up today, let's just go ahead and I'll have your tech fix it." I showed up a few hours later to get my PC. I asked what the guarantee was on the work and what the warranty was on the screen. In a Russian accent, the tech said, "No guarantee. No warranty. It is used screen. Very good. From Samsung." I said, "Hold on, why would I buy a used screen with no warranty and no guarantee?" He said, "It is good. Is the same as you had. No warranty for used screen." I said, "I wasn't told it was a used screen. Why would I want a used screen? Let's power it up and look at it." We powered it up. The display of graphics and photos were not as good as my last screen. I said, "No. Please take this out. I'll fix it myself." The technician balked, but finally complied. I had to pay the $65 to get my PC back and then I left. I contacted the company where I got my last screen a year and a half ago (LapTopScreens) and they FedExed me a new one for free. I popped it in and it worked perfectly. Based on my experience, I will never recommend this place. $185 to replace a screen with a used screen is outrageous, folks. Do you really want to take your PC to a company where they don't guarantee their work? read more

It's hard not to give a place 5 stars when they rescue you from the terrible fate of laptop death. My laptop simply refused to turn on one day. I trusted Comp-Pros to help me with the issue, because they were an irresistible combination of being close and convenient, and having lots of yelp stars. They diagnosed a problem with my power port, and they ordered a part and attempted to fix it, but it turned out there was a more serious issue with the power connecting to my motherboard. At that point, it seemed like a better option to just get a new laptop, which I did, and they were able to resurrect my old laptop onto the new one so that it was as if my computer shed it's old body and transmigrated its soul into a new, more healthy body. When I logged in, everything was exactly as I had left it. That was a *huge* relief. Since my old laptop was useless, they gave me $50 for it to salvage the parts, and my total bill was $150, which was fine with me. Let's face it, I was so desperate to get my data & programs back and working again, that I would have been thrilled with the results at any price, but I felt it was very fair for the time they put into it, and fact that in the end, everything worked perfectly. I felt comfortable with they way they handled everything and like I was always in good hands, that they knew the next step and were confident they could get things solved for me. They were patient with all my questions and slight panic. I wish it would go this well when it's time to seek medical help.... read more

I found them on Yelp and thank goodness I did! I first brought my MacBook to Apple because it just stopped working all of a sudden and they claimed that it was water damage and to fix it it would cost $800! And so I hear, they don't just replace the logic board, they give you a refurbished laptop and no way I wanted that. So, when I found these guys on Yelp I decided to E-mail them. The person who responded, I'm assuming the receptionist, was very nice and helpful in the email, explaining their hours and what not. I brought it in on a Saturday and told them what Apple had told me and also what my problem was. The man who helped me, unfortunately didn't catch his name, said it didn't sound like water damage but something else, which was not something I ever heard from Apple, he said it could be the hard drive. They told me there was a $65 Diagnostic fee if they had to open it up but thank goodness they didn't (I'm a struggling college student! But they have a student discount!!). The receptionist called me perhaps 2 or so hours later and asked me to bring the laptops charger to do a charging test. I arrived not expecting to get my laptop back but apparently they had fixed it in that short time! My charger worked and my laptop was up and running and guess what he did? All he had to do was clean out all the dust particles that were in there because the reason my laptop kept shutting down was because the fan was clogged and it got over heated, that's it!
