Since the apple stores were closed I took my mac for repair as it was not turning on. I had to follow up multiple times for status, I was finally told that the mother board needed to be repaired and it would cost $600. I decided to wait and take it for a second opinion to the apple store. I did.. they called me and told me that whoever had opened the laptop had basically annihilated it and critical pieces were missing. Apple told me they can't even provide me with a quote. I basically paid them $50 to make matters worst for me. Never going back here again. read more

I hate to be so negative when I didn't even come in but wow just had the ugliest, rudest moment in the phone. And if that is their first impression then I can't even imagine how it would've been in person! Alright so I called not knowing what kind of computer I wanted but I made it very clear that I was going to buy one. but I was on a tight budget and he was being very vague about the prices. He would only say the lowest is 200 and I wanted to know how much it would be with taxes and everything. then he asks me what I want the computer for and when I start explaining he rudely interupts me very abruptly and says something like "this is something you don't talk about on the the phone you have to come into the store ok." Then he just hangs up, he was being helpful ish at first and he didn't sound like there was a rush there, otherwise I wouldn't have gone into so much detail. Yet again he asked me! I was already sold I just wanted the prices but then he had to ask what I wanted then interrupted me (I could hear the ugh ya ya in his voice too) and pretty much demanded I come to the store. Alright dude because I'm going to buy a computer from a very rude man. Why this place has such good reviews I don't know. My iphone XR during an Apple forced update showed only the apple logo on the screen and would not turn on even after going through a few reset suggestions I found online. I have icloud back up on but I wanted voice memos that had been recorded since since my last physical itunes backup. I was told by a T-Mobile mgr and also an Apple rep that the only option was to do a restore where I would have lost voice memos. I took it into Kevin who told me he thought he could recover it all and get it working. He gave me a quote, depending on time, of $100-$200. I trusted him and left it with him. $175 later I had my phone and voice memos back the way it was. What a relief! I'm also having my Mac keyboard replaced and having him add a video graphics card to my PC. Lupe who handled the bill is also very nice and helpful. I always try to give my business to small entrepreneurs, especially in this age of big companies dominating the landscape. I had a very good experience with CompuMax. They gave me clear and honest opinions about the whole repairing process and fixed my Laptop which runs very smooth again. Waiting time was only for the parts to arrive. As soon as they got the part they put it in the same day. It turned out that in addition to the broken motherboard my windows was corrupt and they helped me free of charge to install a new windows and access my old data by copying everything step by step on my new harddrive. Okay.. Picture it. It's saturday late afternoon and my mac book pro just stops. But.. My charger looked trashed so I go to best buy and buy a new charger. But.. Thank you CompuMax! My 2011 Mac is now like a new computer! My Mac wasn't turning on so I brought it in to CompuMax. My motherboard had to be replaced. My hard drive was also about to crash so I had that replaced to. For a great price my computer is totally refurbished. CompuMax guys were great. I brought my Toshiba laptop there on a Thursday after they told me over the phone that it usually takes them 1 to 2 days to get it back, they called me on Sunday at about 10 AM telling me that it was the motherboard and that it would be $150 to repair and also that they would update the windows software. They told me that it would ready for pick up on that same day Sunday around 12 noon. I waited till Monday to pick up my computer, when I got there they told me to check it to make sure everything was OK, I did check it and it was doing the same thing that I originally brought it in to be repaired for, they said it was repaired, which obviously was not. I had suspicions about this place after they didn't call me the next day for a status update, I then after the fact check their reviews here on Yelp, and now figured I had made a mistake in trusting this company with my computer. Once I arrived on Monday and they knew they had not fixed my computer. They told me sorry, it's still not ready and they would recheck it to see what's wrong, I waited until three days later on Wednesday because I had not heard anything from them since Monday. The guy told me if I'm not comfortable just come pick it up. I plan to do just that and also plan to notify the manufacture not to refer to this place as a repair spot. I would recommend to anyone considering this place, to please read the reviews prior and consider carefully before the trust this guy to repair anything. This was a complete waste of time. So, I had a previous misunderstanding that was probably due to a slight miscommunication on both of our parts. But Navid had gone out of his way to make sure it was taken care of. That to me is more important than anything. They really went out of their way to resolve issue. Problem averted! I'm back at CompuMax! This time, my iPhone simply would not charge and I could not figure out what was going on! For weeks, I would move the charger up and down and try to keep it in place to make sure that it would actually charge. It was very, very annoying. After leaving my phone in the same position for 18 hours and seeing that it only charged up to 60% I was pissed. I went to Navid today and he took a look at it, told me to come back in 20 minutes and the problem would be fixed. I came back in about 35 minutes and it worked perfectly. MY GOD! My IPhone went out on me and I went to my carrier, I went to the apple store which I was waiting for approximately 5 hours and they just wanted to do a hard reset and erase all of my data, but my whole entire life was on my phone so, I couldn't afford them to touch my phone. Called today on a whim to see if they were even open (11:45 on Easter Sunday) and to see how much it would be to fix my MSI computer screen that my pup chewed about 19 months ago... Since I got my tax return it was in the budget to finally get the thing repaired, but I don't love the computer, so I didn't want to spend more than $300 on the job. The shop is right down the street from home and they were open! I went right away, found easy street parking, and got a totally reasonable quote that actually rivaled what I'd spend to order the part and try and fix it myself (and wind up breaking it worse only to end up spending more to have it professionally repaired, never mind time spent and my likely frustration level at that point!) He COMPLETELY BLEW MY MIND when he said he would try to have it ready by the time they closed at 1:30! And now I am home, typing this review on my repaired computer! MIND IS BLOWN! Only snafu was some weirdness with their credit card machine when it came time to pay-- both cards I used ended up with odd voided (not charged) transactions for $1500 even though I watched him key it in as a sale for $154. I had to call the fraud alert on both my credit card and bank account to clear up the mishap... Maybe they need to check out their terminal? My accounts are in good shape with no inappropriate charges and they were very patient with me having to call the banks even though it kept them past closing. They allowed me to write a check in the end, and I eventually cleared it up completely with the banks just outside the store in my car. Anyway, no harm done and I am thrilled that my computer is fixed and looks beautiful! They even ran updates for me. Highly recommended. read more

Despite being fully charged, my laptop kept turning off on its own while I was in the middle of writing final exam papers. I took my laptop to CompuMax, and within minutes Navid was able to figure out that my hard drive had to be replaced. He offered to install it for me and also reinstall some of the software I would lose and did it all for a reasonable price and within a reasonable amount of time.
