We decided to try out this spot after my daughter's soccer game and it didn't disappoint. It was so good that we decided to go again the next day. During our first visit, I ordered an iced honey cinnamon latte and my husband got the cold brew. Their syrups are made in house and my drink surprisingly wasn't too sweet as I didn't ask for any adjustments. The next day I got the maple latte and again, the sweetness level was just right. Both times, we were immediately greeted by the staff as soon as we walked in. The place is bright and spacious. There are some tables inside and an outdoor patio. They have merch for sale and some canned/bottled drinks off to the corner. We didn't try any of the pastries, maybe next time! Yes. If you're reading reviews asking yourself if you should visit here, the answer is Yes. To begin, I always judge coffee shops on 2 things, Black Coffee and regular Espresso. Compa nailed it on the head with both of these. My first time here, I ordered (I think) a San Diego 1 & 1, which consisted of a shot of espresso served on side with a shot of a cubano. Man it was delicious! I've since returned with friends to work, grab breakfast or even just hang out and grab coffee. I am an ambiance snob and this place immediately felt comforting! The lighting is wonderful with lots of natural light from the large windows even on this rainy day. Coffee shops can sometimes be too loud and they nailed the music volume. I was greeted by a lady in lavender and she was patient with all my questions and she made me the most delicate foam latte and added a sweet seasonal touch with a heart in the foam and some rose petals. Not only was it beautiful to look at but also the best non -diary foam I've ever had. I typically don't like flavor in coffee but she informed me they make all their syrups in house! I went for the basic vanilla and next time I'll try the more interesting lavender thyme flavor. Rancho Bernardo needed this coffee shop ! Coffee is amazing and service is even better! I came in one morning and ordered 2 vanilla lattes and a cafe ole with vanilla and when I went home I realized they were all missing vanilla. I ended up trying to add some french vanilla creamer which totally ruined the coffee. Ultimately I ended up coming back because I'm ridiculous... and these people were so kind. Kai and Jay remade all the drinks and sent me home with a bottle of their campfire syrup. How cool are they?? Unfortunately I don't live in the area and am just here visiting, but I came every day I was here and would HIGHLY recommend anyone in the area to check these people out. I didn't know they were there, I just happened to notice them while running routine errands. Unfortunately they always seem to be closed when I have time to swing by so it took me two weeks before I could visit. The iced honey cinnamon latte was good, certainly better than I expected but it's going to take a lot to get me to leave Peets. I'm a little conflicted on the "9 to 5" sandwich. It was a good portion and very flavorful, but I'm not a fan of buttermilk biscuits or whatever those were that crumbled in my hands as I tried to hold them. Don't get me wrong, it tasted great, but it's really built for someone who doesn't mind their hands getting unnecessarily sticky with syrup and juices that drip out. I'll try it again if I can substitute the bun for something else. I really appreciate the layout of the store. Some local food places have an entry that is tight and impacted from the moment you walk in, but this place plenty of room for people to walk in and line up for an order. It also has a small waiting table in the middle that customers can crowd around while waiting on their food. That was thoughtful. There's a fair amount of interior seating and a surprising amount of exterior seating since they annexed the ( unused ) sidewalk on the building's end. Fast friendly service, I wish them well, but I need to be to work at 7am and they don't open until then. That's a shame because no matter how much I like Peet's, Compa is right in the path of my drive from home to work. I have to waste another 5-10 min to work my way to Peets. It was just sweet enough...Dylan mentioned that was because there was also thyme (!) in it. Wowow, I'm sooo happy they opened up in the Pho Ca Dao and Baron's plaza! This is currently my favorite coffee place.\ Highlights: - staff, everyone is so friendly and wonderful (shoutout to the guy wearing the Twilight shirt). They've recognized me coming after a few times and have totally recommended me not just a drink but also a type of addition that they think I'd like. It's now my go-to (dark mocha with vanilla!!) - crowd/ambiance: the natural lighting in here is so nice!! There's a table-top bar, small side tables, and a long-booth, as well as a good amount of outdoor seating. I've also had quite a few conversations with strangers here and almost everyone is just very nice, not sure if it's just the people I happen to interact with, but I've always had a pleasant time at Compa! - food and drinks: they have very unique specials (the Vietnamese OatNog was a little out there for me) and I have really enjoyed the two different dishes I had there. They actually have food-food, which I'm happy for because I can absolutely camp out for the day! I always recommend the PAAT to friends I bring here. But be warned that their food (including their avocado toast) can be a bit mustard-y, so be sure to ask for without it if you're not into it - hours: they open quite late (til about 8pm) so I'm grateful for that - parking: ehhh, not the best since there's a lot of businesses in the plaza, but never Convoy-bad lol - prices: actually pretty decent, esp for food, considering the price of things in San Diego these days - location: biased because I'm just down the street, but it's right off the 15 on Rancho Bernardo Road so it's pretty convenient read more

So easy to recommend. We loved the North Park location and were missing it once we moved to North County. The coffee program is great - no one does seasonal beverages like Compa. Give them a try even if you are normally a black coffee/cold brew person. The favors and balance of sweetness are always on point. Their food is excellent as well.
