First of all, I want to say this has been one of my favorite coffee spots in san diego for years. The campfire mocha is amazing and worth every penny. Ive brought friends here in the past and have always gotten positive feedback afterwards. Recently though, it feels like it's lost a little of its charm. The menu needs updating because with all the crossed out items on the board, it looks a little low end and like they're out of things. But they also always seem to be out of multiple items when I come these days. There's no food options any more most of the time, but the display cases remain. And seating... it feels like they got rid of 1-2 tables and the tables that were outside. There never seems to be enough seating so it's both cramped while also empty looking now. They have these side benches to sit on, but no one ever uses them because they're not super comfortable or good to chat with anyone with. Also, the bathroom. It's usually open, but twice now Ive been in there where there's zero toilet paper or the paper towel dispenser is out, but someone has just put a roll on top to tear at your own will. I loved this place so I hate saying more negative than good. The drinks remain amazing, but for a spot that is so popular, it's losing some of its own charm. read more

I had high hopes and expectations for this place based on Social media and reviews. Could be a location issue- personally. But I just felt this location was not friendly. Even the customers. By any means do I expect people to offer help when they see someone with a stroller , but if you're going to exit out of the door and proceed to have me hold it for two grown adults, wow. Obviously not a store issue but just the vibe I got started off unpleasant. Now ordering, they had a few items crossed out. No food items, which is fine. But the two behind the counter weren't as welcoming. At most coffee places asking hi how are you, is it your first time here type of thing was not present and I fee that's pretty standard. Anyways, I got an iced babingka latte, it was decent. I feel like when you're happy- the product you produce follows, so based on what I received it matched, it was lacking. To add, they ran out of plastic lids. I have two children going to drive in a car and if you think I'm going to have an open ass iced coffee in my car? Again could be a me problem but like I wouldn't have gotten an iced drink had the barista told me they ran out to order hot instead. So I requested it in a hot cup which he switched it over for me after saying my cup was going to get soggy, which it didn't. I didn't order any of their food, but it's nice to know they have that option. I lived in this area for most of my life and I don't know why I haven't came here as often as I should. I wanted to try the Turon Creme Brulee however they said they are no longer selling that. I wish they would've crossed it off their menu, but it is what it is. I think it's recent that's why they haven't crossed it out yet. I did order the regular crème brûlée latte, and it was really good! They have a white selection of coffees from all over the world. My roots are from the Philippines and it's nice. They showcase a lot of cops from there. But again they have coffees from all over the world as well. :) There's ample seating here. Parking was difficult as there is construction going on in that area and after parking and walking in the staff wasn't very friendly. The drinks were okay, nothing amazing to rave about so pretty disappointed in my overall experience here. The coffee is a standout and I would come again and again for it. Service-wise, because they are so busy, the folks there seem to try to crank everything out as quickly as possible. They really need to take cold brew off their menu. This is the fourth time that I have come to this location and they don't have the Choconana cold brew-- I don't know why I keep giving them a chance. They just never have cold brew on hand. It does not matter what time of day I come to this place, I always find myself asking them, "What /do/ you have??" because every thing I ever want to order off the menu is always out of stock. I was staying at a hotel nearby and ordered delivery in the morning from Mostra. I got a blueberry pancake latte and an everything bagel with cream cheese. I really like the latte which was smooth and had a nice blueberry flavor without tasting too artificial. I was also able to select less sweet on UberEats which is a huge plus as I don't like my lattes too syrupy. The bagel was a bit of a letdown as it wasn't toasted (the bagel itself wasn't cold, more room temp but I wish it was toasted) but it was good enough. One of my favorite places to go to when it comes to getting coffee or tea! Parking can sometimes be a bit tough here so keep that in mind. And I feel like every time I come here, the line is always pretty long but it just means it's that good. The seating here can be a bit limited so just keep that in mind. But everyone here is quite friendly and provides good service. The coffee (especially the lattes) and teas are really good too. I tried their new ham and cheese croissant sandwich and that was absolutely good too. I'd recommend coming here if you want some really good coffee. Prices can be slightly high but I think it's worth the price - you won't be disappointed! If I lived closer, I'd be more of a regular to visit here and even work here if I could. They burn the sugar on top and their 12 oz is 2 shots and 16 oz is 4 shots (they only do double shot pours, which is awesome). I've been to two other Mostra locations and was really excited to visit this one and finally try their crème brûlée latte. Unfortunately, they were all sold out of the turon and bibingka so I opted for just a regular crème brûlée latte. I was pretty disappointed about that because I was really looking forward to it and it was only 2pm on a Saturday. Seating was very open when we arrived, but got filled quickly. I didn't really like my drink, which was surprising because I've tried 4 other items here and I loved all of them. Maybe the crème brûlée too wasn't torched enough, but I was really off put by the crunchy sugar granules that were not melted. Don't think crème brûlée is supposed to be like that :/ Everything else I've tried in the past is bomb though so I'll treat it as an off-day and still give the overall experience a 4/5. read more

Great little coffee shop in Carmel Mountain Ranch Love that they have really unique flavors with their crème brûlée lattes and filipino flavors like bibingka and ube, and not just your standard coffee shop. To be honest, it feels like the whole franchise is a little bit neglected these last few months. A once vibrant set of coffee shops with pastries, galore, collaborations with other companies like ice cream, always coming out with new drinks feels now a bit rundown these days. I only go to two locations, but I've noticed the same thing across both. Everything is always run-out, even the hand sanitizer dispenser! There are no longer pastries, and you can't order ahead or put in your rewards number due to issues with their new payment system , many things out of stock including decaf.. for weeks! The coffee itself is still excellent- and The service is great . It just feels like Mostra needs a little bit of love and attention to get back to the amazingness that we all love. read more

The flavor profile is more on the sweeter side, and not much coffee flavor were present in either of these lattes. Blueberry pancake latte tasted just like blueberry pancakes and the salted caramel wasn't too caramelly and overpowering. Cafe wasn't so busy, it took less than 10 minutes for the drinks to be prepared. The place looks pretty cozy and the perfect place to study. A large hot Juniper Spice latte. This seasonal drink won me over today. My drink was especially smooth and creamy (kudos to whoever was at the helm of the espresso machine!). This latte has a flavor profile that is slightly tangy AND spicy from the orange syrup and spices they use. If you're a fan of chocolate covered oranges, this has a hint of that. You really can't go wrong when it comes to flavor for any of these drinks. My only complaint is my drink is never hot enough for me, but I don't want to ask for extra hot because that would be too hot. It should be hovering around 150 degrees. I haven't run into a "poor" employee yet. Everyone is super nice and the one employee who does the espresso design with foam milk is always very talented. The matcha wasn't even green and just tasted like a cup of oat milk. Coffee shops need to stop adding matcha to their menu if they're not even going to try to make it even semi decent. There was a weird dark powder at the bottom of my cup that I had to mix in too, that didn't really look like matcha. Service was nice and friendly. Coffee was pretty decent. Tried the iced campfire mocha and iced blueberry pancake latte which were both around 8/10. Mostra is a great stop if you care about flavor because on that front, it is a solid 5 stars!! The drinks and food are genuinely delicious and thoughtfully made. Even when I try something new, it always tastes great. The space itself is small, but I actually like the large communal table. It makes the space feel intentional rather than cramped. It is located in a little strip mall area, so there is no outdoor seating, which is something to keep in mind if you are hoping to hang out for a while. The reason this lands at four stars instead of five is the online ordering experience. I have ordered their matcha multiple times through the website when it showed as available, only to arrive and be told they were out and had refunded me. That then meant waiting in line and ordering all over again, which defeats the purpose of ordering ahead. I have also ordered chocolate chip banana bread through mobile order and received walnut bread instead, with no chocolate or bananas to be found. Luckily I do not have any allergies, but that felt like a miscommunication and could be an issue for someone who does. All that said, the flavors really are excellent, and I will absolutely keep coming back. I just hope the online ordering accuracy improves because it would make the experience even better. read more
