I've been with this office for a few years since moving to Oregon. The main vet, Michelle B, is very compassionate and thorough. She worked well with my very anxious dog. However, in my dog's greatest time of need, I have had no responses to the two urgent voicemails and was on hold for over 15 minutes trying to find out what the plan was going to be for my dogs care. I spoke with staff at my dog's last visit 4 days prior and they stressed to me to just let them know when it's Cheeto's time and they'll accommodate me/us. I ended up hanging up after the long hold and called a veterinarian down the street, who are able to get Cheeto in very quickly (I am grateful for that because my beloved dog is suffering.) Additionally, when I was a client here at Companion, any prescriptions that Cheeto needed were at least 3 times more expensive than anywhere else I looked. And they charge you a fee for the prescription to be sent out to another (cheaper) prescriber - and med was still cheaper elsewhere after the addition of their fee. In conclusion, I am very disappointed at their response (or lack of) when my dog is in such critical need. read more

It's bad enough they promised to take our dog in if their recommended treatment didn't work its that Dr. Wenzel lied on a number of occasions including keeping an appointment, then charging us for one we didn't have, including that medicine. Emily a member of their management is your consumate PR HR employee, finding in favor of the company and trusting the word of any other employee when it suits the pocket book of the company. This is even after we offered the proof of the texting that I still have. She refused our requests for in person conference. If the credit card company won't do something about these unauthorized charges, a small claims court suit should. read more

Not only did they over charge for the procedure on my dog, now I'm being accused of threatening the staff and the business. I had to ask what did do that would have been considered an actual threat to them. No answer yet. All I did was promise that I would educate as many people as possible about their billing practices. When the Front Desk staff gives an estimate for services at the time the appointment was made, the business should be held liable for that price. But the company hides behind a consent form they spring on you in less than 24 hours before your appointment. Sadly, I was a 12 year loyal client and this is what they do to their loyal customer. Be aware and research your veterinarian provider. Don't just pay for something thinking it is normal. A standard neuter goes for $180 to $300. Not $750 like I was charged. read more

I have brought my German Shepherd in twice in one month. One time for sore red interior ears and the second time for very flakey skin and open sores from scratching. Meds were given to me for both issues, which cleared up after use just as the folks told me would happen. Only waited a couple minutes to be seen too. Went back for vaccines. They are doing curbside. Victoria was there again as was Tatiana. Tori had no problem handling my German shepherd with a sore hip issue. We brought home 2 Saint Bernard puppies in 2020. We checked around the vets in the area and settled on Dr Michelle at CPC. So glad we did. We could not be happier with the care our puppies received. The information we received as a family was invaluable. She took the time to explain there current needs as well as future needs. It is a walk in clinic so you may have to wait but well worth it. The entire staff was helpful and friendly. The puppy package they offer is hands down the easiest way to make sure you puppy has all there vaccines taken care of to keep them healthy. I have used this clinic before and liked the doctor. My cats needed to get something to help them fly. So, I called and was told I could come in with no appointment and it was a quick visit. I loaded up the cats (no small task, this is like, well, herding cats) and took them in and was told that no we could not be seen, but I could leave them overnight. I don't like leaving pets overnight for a checkup so I declined. While we were chatting, another lady with an appointment actually took her dog and left due to the long wait. The gentleman said bring my cats back tomorrow and we will see them and if the pet is flying carry on you don't need a health certificate. Great!! So, I go back today and am told I will have to leave them AND they will need a health certificate. I said that is not what the gentleman said yesterday, and that is not what the airline told me.. Well, the lady rudely says, "You do." I said we'll I just need to get the shot and some sedatives so they can fly. "Our fill in vet won't do sedatives" was the curt reply. Finally, she asks the vet because I insist that the gentleman yesterday said the vet would indeed provide the meds. The reply? The vet will decide when she sees the animal IF she will give meds. Wow. So I should pay for an appointment for meds but she may not provide what I came for? We left and called the companion clinic a block from my house in HIllsboro. THEY, by the way, were courteous and got us right in. We left with rabies certificates, a scan of their id chips and the meds we had come to procure. I mentioned to the woman that we would be leaving and she said it didn't matter to her if we left. Wow. Business must be so good you don't need customers, and if you can afford to be so rude. read more

The only reason I give one star, other than the fact you can't give zero, is the kindness of the staff. I took my dog here to in hopes to have a minor hematoma drained. I couldn't get an appointment with my regular vet to work with my schedule for a few days so a coworker recommended I take my dog here. But, she has had a hematoma before so I knew what I needed to be and what I wanted done - a simple drainage. After leaving my dog there for 4 hours, I got a call describing the surgery and the cost ((including some seriously unnecessary aspects). I told them I simply wanted the ear drained and they refused. To them, surgery is the only option because it is the only way they make money. The "convenience" of walk in and inexpensive visits are compensated by taking minor problems and telling the owners that surgery is the only way. They also claimed she had an ear infection and that was the cause of the hematoma. I told them I would take the drugs prescribed for the ear infection but no surgery. If I was going to shell out tons of money for surgery it would be to my normal trusted vet (Laurelwood Animal Hospital, in case anyone is looking for the greatest vet ever). Unfortunately I could not get to Companion Clinic to pick my dog up so a friend went in and got my dog and prescribed medicines. When I looked at the products and bill I saw they prescribed and sold me COMPLETELY unnecessary things. Ear cleanser for $23 bucks? To hell with you, I can get it at Pet Smart for $8. Rimadyl? For what? I'll never recommend this place to anyone not in an emergency situation where surgery truly is the only option. And you better have deep pockets to go along with it. read more

I really hate to leave a less-than stellar review for this place because they have seen my pets for years and they have been wonderful with all of them-- 3 dogs and 2 cats, all with their idiosyncrasies and personality quirks and health issues. But I won't be back here again, I don't think. Dr Bartholomew is the best. Seriously. She's very relaxed, she's not put off by less friendly dogs, and she will really give you lots of info on whatever it is your pet's got going on. She'll lay out your choices. If you want to wait & see with your young dog's arthritis and give some pain relief meds in the meantime, she'll tell you what's cheapest. If you've got a few grand to spend on surgery, she'll tell you about the options and the outcomes she's observed with the different procedures. Dr Bartholomew saved my cat's life when he had a urinary blockage. I am very very grateful for everything she and her staff have done for my pets. But. A walk-in clinic means you walk in, and maybe they're dead slow and get to you right away, or maybe they're slammed busy and you wait for over an hour. Or, maybe you show up after rushing home from work, and it's an hour till they close, they're slammed busy, and after waiting 40 minutes they inform you that if it's after closing time by the time they get to you, you'll have to pay an after-hours fee. The lobby has like 3 benches, which is not a comfortable situation when the lobby is also full of people and pets. Some people have very nice well-behaved pets. Some people have dogs that whine and shed hair like crazy when stressed, and growl or bark at other dogs that get too close. When you've got no space, these are things you have to consider. I feel like the reason this place is so busy is because they provide great care for some of the lowest prices around. But for me, it just doesn't make sense to do the walk-in thing anymore. I want a place that will set an appointment for me and have a reasonable number of clients in the lobby when I get there. Unfortunately for me, it is not this place. read more

My friend recommended Dr. MICHELLE @CPC in Forest grove last year when my sweet 9 year old Golden Retriever, Belle, had an UTI that want responding to natural remedies. Prescribed an rx, suggested a great cherry supplement to promote UT health and some lightly medicated wipes. Bella was totally at ease and felt better within a couple of days. July 26, this year Bella was acting strange, the light went out of her eyes and she's just looked at me helplessly. Then I noticed her back legs were outstretched while she lay flat on her tummy. Then her front legs slipped out from her and remained out stretched as well. What is happening? I sat down in front of her asking what was wrong and tried to help her sit back up, but when I did she just started at me and they slid back down. Then her bladder and bowels expelled while she never made a move. I quick and got my neighbor who suggested we make a hammock out of a blanket to get her downstairs and into my car. She was 75 lbs...not fat ir overweight though. Anyway, I drove to CPC from Bethany where Alex (one of their technicians) met me and carried her quickly into the back room where Dr. Michelle was. After a few minutes(which seemed like eternity to me) Dr. Michelle came in and sat down beside me explaining that my Belle was non-responsive and believes she had a severe stroke. Me, being ignorant to this condition replied..'ok, what do we do next? How long will she be like this' Dr. Michelle took my hands and looked me in the eyes and said, Kathleen, Bella is unresponsive...' after a couple of seconds my mind caught up with her words and my heart broke. I kept asking if she was sure while crying my eyes out and trying to catch my breath. She quickly reached for a box of tissue for me. And hugged me. She said if it were her dog,(she has a golden) this is what she would do..as she was totally unresponsive. She asked if I would like them to bring my girl into the exam room where I was and of course I somehow communicated, yes. Alex brought my sweet girl in in a blanket and layed her down. I layed in the floor next to her just holding her...nose to nose, letting her, trying to see if her eyes would flinch or her ear twitch. This was the most tragic and unexpected thing in my life. Dr. Michelle told me to take my time and she would check on me soon. After a but she came in and explained about the first step. I just continued to lay next to my Belle talking to her softly. You know the rest of the story I'm sure. They helped me through every step and I cannot imagine a more compassionate group of people through all of this. Afterward she gave me some time to lay with her until I was ready to get up. So, writing this was a bit cathartic for me. This Vet is awesome! I have four dogs and I am pretty picky when it comes to them. I have gone through several different Vets as it is very hard to find a place that is cheap, but not cheap to my pets. The one thing that is very important to me is that the Techs and Receptionists are friendly. I have been to another companion pet that was full of rude people, and if 1 one my dogs wants to get out of a place so bad she will make a beeline past me just to get away from the tech holding her leash, you know that is a bad sign. However, at this place, you get probably the cheapest care around, yet they still treat your pets like they are living creatures! Also, you can leave your pet there for the day if you have to work, or are just really busy, so you don't have the wait the entire time. They always call with an update to see what you want to do instead of racking up a bill in your absence. I also appreciate that they remember me and my pets, it is really annoying to spend a bunch of money on your dog somewhere and everytime you go in the Vet thinks it is the first time you have met. I have a 9 year old chihuahua that has been suffering from allergies and reoccurring ear infections. Dr. Michelle was able to prescribe the medications that my dog needed. Must be bad because this is my very first ever YELP review..... I have taken a lot of my babies here and I don't know why considering the percentage of getting help is maybe 30%. I have had nothing but bad experiences with this office. REASONS: 1. I could never get in when I call, before going in to make sure I can have one of them seen and I always get "sure come on in we can get you in" then when I arrive I get "no we cannot get you in" NOT ACCEPTABLE. 2. Take time off from work during the week after calling and being told to "come on in". 3. Absolutely snobby, front desk individuals with absolutely no customer service or compassion for your babies. 4. I have had to take my babies to other places because this location is too expensive. I know babies are afraid to go to the doctor but my dog would whine afraid to go in and I took her to a new location and she stood at the door ready and willing to go in. I was like OK, big difference. The list goes on, so I finally took all my babies records and moved on. I have picked up quite a lot of babies that I have taken care of by spaying/neutering and adopting to good homes. I needed a more caring place. I had taken my dog to another local vet clinic after he suddenly started limping. That vet immediately said we needed surgery and sacred us into thinking if we couldn't afford several thousand dollars for this surgery that our beloved dog would be crippled with arthritis and face a life of pain and lameness. Of course we were devastated. A friend of ours recommended calling Dr. Michelle at Forest Grove Companion. Even though we were not patients there she gave us hope and compassion when the other vet didn't. Surgery may not be necessary. She gave us several tips for the coming weeks to see if the injury would begin the healing process on its own. Then a couple days later I called again to get her advice on joint supplements and the best method to keep him contained while he heals. Though she was with another patient, Dr. Michelle took the time to call me back when she was free and answer my questions. As if that wasn't enough, while picking her brain about the best crates (our boy is a big brute who has broken out of crates in the past) she mentioned that she had a very large sturdy crate that we could borrow. So we went to see her yesterday to pick up the crate. I asked when they'd need it back and she said if it worked we could keep it. Are you kidding me?!?! Honestly, I became overwhelmed by her generosity and compassion and when I started to cry from gratitude and the emotions of not knowing if our boy would be okay, she let her emotions show too and gave me a comforting hug. Now keep in mind, we were not her patients! She didn't have to do any of this! I called the other vet and requested all our pets records be sent to her immediately. She will be our new vet for all our fur babies. We know we're in for a long road to recovery and he still very well may need surgery, but what Dr. Michelle gave us was hope, compassion, and validation that our ability to afford a very expensive surgery right now does not make us bad pet parents. My family has been going to this veterinarian for years, and they love it. We are usually dog people, but have a rabbit, and now a house cat named Amber. Amber was having some really gunky eyes, so we brought her in after a couple of days. Since my mom was really busy at this time, we were able to take her in during the day. Upon arriving, the waiting room was clean and quiet (as much as a vet's waiting room can be). They asked for the name of the pet, and as this was the kitten's first time at this vet (adopted from a cat shelter), they got her entered into the system right away. The assistant was very gentle with Amber while weighing her on the scale. A few minutes later we were escorted to a room where they let the cat walk around and get used to her surroundings (I'm not a cat person, but this impressed me!). After checking a few things, and answering some questions, the assistant left and the vet came in. The vet was very practical, and got right down to business, but was also kind and considerate. She praised Amber's beautiful markings and was very helpful throughout the process. The vet let me help hold the cat as she put eye drops in the eyes to see what kind of infection it was. After some small tests and consideration, the doctor wrote up a prescription and sent us on our way. They gave us eye drops and some respiratory cat treats. We decided to change our kitty litter from the chalk based to paper based (to avoid dust). Amber has been fine ever since. Furthermore, I would like to put in another good word for this vet clinic. Prior to this cat, Amber, my little sister rescued a young kitten abandoned at a pond near our home. My mom agreed to house the young kitten named Esther and unfortunately, Esther's digestive system did not properly develop (either due to lack of development in the womb or soon after being born). This vet clinic helped Esther in as many ways as possible, but we couldn't change nature's course. After a few weeks of trying different possibilities, Esther could not keep down any food and was put to sleep. The vet's condolences to my family at this time was phenomenal. My mom, an avid animal lover, said that she never felt so much support from any vet at the time of an animals' passing than at this time. The vet also sent a sympathy card in the mail to help ease the burden during grieving time. Although I was away at college during this time, I know how much my family values this clinic. As a young person starting to have a home of my own, I know that I will be coming here for veterinary services when I get my own pets. read more

You know they say most people never voice their opinion unless its to complain. Reading these other reviews seems to back that up. I have been Using this vet for 10 years with not a single problem. I have taken my two dogs, two cats and a friends cat in to them. From issues as simple as shots all the way up to my dobermans cancer treatments. Never once has anyone been rude to me. I have seen many people come in who get upset over a wait for something such as medications or shots while I have been patiently waiting for an hour for a torn ear. Waiting patiently because I know the vet has 2 emergency surgeries both that came in within an hour of each other. These Angry customers didn't bother to listen to the vet tech try to explain this. They just got huffy and complained that its simple and they shouldn't have to wait. Personally if one of my beloved pets had been hit by a car or swallowed an object (as in the cases I'm referring to) I would have expected people coming in for simple things to wait as I was doing for them. I can assure you I have spent at least 20,000 in that office, mostly on the doberman with skin and food allergies, multiple cuts requiring stitches due to her lack of fur and love for the wild blackberries in our back yard, tumors and eventually cancer. My good friend runs the office for a different vet clinic in Beaverton. She has looked at my bill and been shocked at some of the prices. She couldn't get me that price even with a discount. There have been a few things she could get cheaper such as a couple of prescriptions. However that's going to happen anywhere you look. Just as getting a different answer from 2 different vet techs. I used to work as a nursing assistant and the nurses i worked with never had the same practices and would expect you to follow their standards when working with them Ask them the same question and you are likely to get two different answers. I have often had a price given for a procedure that was more than what I could pay and they suggested things I didn't want. But when discussing it they explained the reason for each item and helped me narrow down anything that though they suggested I could take off without removing anything necessary. Just as with my own doctor I will listen to the vet when she suggests something is important as long as she can explain why. Last Summer we had to put our Doberman to sleep. Her cancer had taken over. I showed up without an appointment. The regular vet was not there, There was an intermin vet. I wanted them to be sure before I notified my husband it was time. She checked Saidy and confirmed that her belly appeared to be filling with fluid, she ran up a list of procedures we could have done but knowing this would most likely be how things progressed she also was very honest that the procedures where most likely nothing more than confirmation of what we already knew. My husband works in Gresham, we waited outside in the grass for him to arrive for about 2 hours. The vet techs came out often offering us water and coming to pet saidy as they all knew her and she had been seen there for her entire 9 years. During that 2 hour period I watched the intermin Vet take in 4 other dogs all to be put down. The last one before us she had to put down in the parking lot at the owners request because it was too sick to be moved from the car. I saw a few people come and go during this time mostly regulars but like in other cases one or two people got huffy about having to wait without an appointment (really what did you expect?). But had they seen the 4 dogs put down, 3 cats with scheduled spay/neuters, as well as the puppy hit by a car and numerous walk-ins. all within the time I spent there they would have realized you cant please everyone when you have lives on the line. The next day the regular Vet Michelle personally called us to apologize she wasn't there when it was Saidys time. She had given her first shots, spayed her and treated her to the end. She took the time just to show us that we do matter .that she cares about our pets and grieves as we do. A few months later I came in with our two new cats she started tearing up talking about Saidy. She remembered that our other dog Dolly had stopped eating and asked about her. We get excellent service. Yes we are long term regulars, but we became that because of the initial and consistent treatment we received 10 years ago. read more

The lack of a process to deal with multiple pets and emergencies at a time made this visit disorganized, very stressful for EVERYONE; staff and patients alike, and downright scary. Dr. Kate explained what she thought was going on with my pet, but her biggest concern was that they were closing at 2 and she couldn't help my pet who was in an emergency situation. In the end I felt like a number who was taking up valuable space in their clinic. I wish I would have walked out and chose a different clinic instead of letting them treat our family pet. read more

I took my Dog in for a spade. I politely asked if I could pick her up by 4:30 pm. I was told that would be fine. I called twice during the day to check on her. When I returned at 5 pm to pick her up, the woman at the front counter prepared the paperwork and asked for my payment. I politely said "I would like to see my Dog please". She said, "Well, we finish paperwork and payment prior to releasing the Dog.". I replied, " I understand that, but I would l really like to see my Dog first". The interim Vet brought the Dog out and began yelling at me for being rude to her staff. I said, "Im sorry, I just wanted to see my dog first, I never meant to offend anyone by asking." The interim vet began shouting at me that I was the rudest client she had ever had, and that I had NO right whatsoever to demand seeing my dog prior to payment." After listening to this verbal attack, I said "Please do not speak to my like I am a child". She then screamed at me to get out of her clinic and never return. I am appalled and shocked over the way I was treated. My 11 year old Son was standing right next to me and this attack by the interim Vet made him cry. He was very traumatized by this. We emailed and called a few times requesting that my Wife bring the Dog in to have her sutures removed. We were hung up on, yelled and and ultimately threatened if we were to come back to the clinic. We had no option but to pay another clinic to remove the sutures. We have consulted with an Attorney and have been advised to file a small claims action against this clinic for the money we are now out. I have NEVER in my life been treated so poorly. We are very active within the pet community around Cornelius and Forest Grove. We have heard similar stories about this clinic. This is not the first time they have treated a Customer with disrespect. I highly recommend you do not take your pet to this clinic. VERY POOR SERVICE, AND VERY HIGH PRICED!! Low cost isn't everything. I called because my sick dog wasn't getting any better on the course of treatment prescribed by this clinic, in fact her condition had worsened considerably after several days. The staff told me Dr. wanted to see her again and that it was fine to come in any time. When I got there about two hours later, I was told the vet was too busy with back-to-back surgeries to see me. She would, however, keep my dog in the back room to examine her between surgeries and I could pick her up several hours later. My dog had already been diagnosed with a contagious illness by this same veterinarian, so I don't understand why she wanted to take her back to where she was performing surgeries. That is a big red flag for me. And, since my dog was getting sicker by the day, of course I wanted to be present for an exam to ask questions and provide important information about her symptoms. I guess you get what you pay for. It seems that things are too rushed at this clinic and some corners are being cut here. The majority of the staff is quite rude and unprofessional. I will happily pay more somewhere else for better care and a professional, courteous staff. read more

I am disgusted with the comments some of these people are leaving!!! I have no clue what vet you were visiting!! I have been going to this vet for 15 years and would not think of leaving! I am one of those compassionate over the top people who will do whatever it takes to save the smallest insect to any animal that is either distressed, in pain or lost. I KNOW the best place to go when I fork out my OWN money to make sure all these poor creatures are taken care of! When I hear from people saying " I called and they were not busy and then I get there and they are busy".... Pardon me.... if they were predictors of the future then I pretty much think they would have a larger clinic and be able to support everyone's animals in a timely manner you are expecting from them!! However, they are not.... Should they lie to you when you call and they are not busy and tell you "yes we are very busy"???? It is a walk in clinic for goodness sakes!!! It is so sad to see these reviews and not get upset. Go to another clinic but do not Bash them!!! Shout out to all you pet lovers. I have lived in the Hillsboro area for over 40 years. I went initially, to a Hillsboro vet for several years. I wasn't happy or unhappy with the care there, it was close and easy to get to. I wasn't always happy with the care but it was "adequate" or at least I thought so. Then I had a real problem and one of my animals almost died. I was so upset. The Hillsboro vet acted as if he was bored and just wanted to finish up so he could go surfing that day. I could not believe it. I had 3 dogs and 7 cats at the time. 6 were strays that somehow managed to worm their way into my family's heart. I thought the Hillsboro vet would care, if not care at least try to save my dog, especially since I was a frequent clinic visitor. It meant nothing! I am an RN so have some ideas about basic health care and treatment for humans but animals have many of the same needs. I believe my dog would be dead if I had stayed at that clinic. I stumbled onto Dr.s Michelle and Keith and I know I have found wonderful Vets., and a great clinic. I am at the clinic often with so many fur babies. I have NEVER had anything but the best of care. As soon as I enter the Clinic door I feel like I am part of a family. I love the staff and they are so kind and professional. my pets get great care. When I had to have my beloved dog put to sleep they cried with me. I have read some of the other comments on this site and I just have such trouble believing some of the the negative statements made. Please let me say that this is a place for our animals to be treated with dignity and respect just like us humans. Maybe the "complainers" with only visiting 1 time and were in a "crisis" situation or had waited so long to bring there pet in that they fell guilty about the out come and it is easier to blame someone else than to admit there own failings. That must be the way it is because this wonderful companion Pet Clinic/Forest Grove is the best. I wont address the angry comments but surfice to say that maybe these grouchy people are better off to see the surfing Vet in Hillsboro :) Tye S. read more
