Still the only Vet we take our furbabies. The staff and doctors are amazing! Prices are pretty comparable to other veterinarian businesses and our kitties get the best possible care. Our ten year old orange tabby, Murray, needed to have a "cough" checked out. He was fine otherwise. They did a complete exam, took some blood, checked his BP and prescribed a steroid he needed to take for two weeks. I was able to get the pills down him for three days but he wasn't having any of it after the third day so I stopped. He's perfectly fine now and has no cough at all. I still need to take him back in for a urine analysis and will do so in the new year. The office and exam rooms are clean and comfortable. The staff and doctors are so empathetic and caring. You can still buy special diet foods and treats while you're there. The dogs and cats are kept separate which makes for a stress free visit. I was heartbroken when my previous vet closed and transferred our records to a subpar clinic in Hillsboro. After hearing about Murray Hill Vet at Dogtober Fest and being strongly recommended by a Dove Lewis representative, I knew it was time for a change. When my other vet canceled my dog's surgery, I contacted Murray Hill and was amazed that they were able to schedule my fur baby for the same day, and ethen called the following day to say their was cancellation in surgery. My dog used to have leash aggression, and this was only the third public place we've taken her since working with a trainer. The staff at Murray Hill Vet were so gracious and wonderful that my dog was on her best behavior the entire time. 100% profit over pet care. Use your judgement, pay attention and keep hold of your purse/wallet before they drain it completely. We brought our dog in (several times) because he'd been limping. Rather than doing an X-ray to ensure there'd been no injury, the vet we were seeing refused ("It's not necessary if there wasn't an inciting event"). She diagnosed him with arthritis (he's 11) and instead preferred to prescribe some (very) expensive glucosamine injections. As this had been a persistent problem, we declined and took him to the emergency vet (thank you, EVCOT!). The vet at EVCOT X-rayed his leg and we found our dog had a ruptured CCL (not arthritis) which needed a surgical repair. Fast forward several weeks and post-repair, our doggo is doing great and, most importantly, isn't limping anymore. Caveat emptor! read more

Everyone here was lovely, and so helpful. I brought my cat in because she has been having issues, and she's an elderly cat. They got me in the next day. Unfortunately, it was bad news. They were amazing the entire time, and made me feel safe and comfortable. They gave me all the information, and gave me medications to help the same day. The vet was phenomenal, you could tell she was knowledgeable but she explained everything in a way that made sense without talking down to me. She also made me feel safe in the office, and shared her own story as I was going through it. So often, you see doctors or vets who are very good at what they do without having bedside manner, but this vet had both. They made what was an awful day for me the most safe and comfortable experience possible. They even had a side door to exit from so I did not have to leave through the lobby while crying. Every person I interacted with in this VCA was so incredibly kind and helpful. I would recommend them for anything. They were also transparent with pricing, and I spent less than I was prepared for. They also did not pressure me to add things when I said no, and listened to every question. The vet herself took quite a bit of time to talk to me, and answered every single question without looking annoyed or bored. She never made me feel rushed in the appointment. While I found out bad news, I am grateful I went with this clinic. read more

I've taken my dog here a couple of times for routine checkups, vaccines and sick appointments. On our last appointment in September, I asked that he get a nail trim while there. However, he was too anxious after his 'exam'. I put 'exam' in quotes because they couldn't even truly examine his ears which was one of the issues we were there for. Yes, my dog is anxious at the vet but he was given healthy doses of trazodone. Maybe I'm expecting too much, but shouldn't vets and techs be trained to handle all kinds of dogs? He has never bitten or harmed anyone, so it's not that severe. So that appointment was a total waste, and yes I did have to pay for an exam even though the exam did not happen. We have been taking Bastian to self-dog washes for his baths and nail trims. However, getting a groomer at these places to give him the nail trim is hit or miss (he refuses to let us trim, but is perfectly fine having someone else do it...weird I know!). So I'm now at the point where I just want to be sure he gets a bath and trim every month and I don't have to worry about it. Today I called VCA to try and get him scheduled with their groomer for a simple bath and nail trim. I told the lady on the phone all the info above, that yes he's typically anxious but he should be fine with them doing the nail trim. She talked to someone, and insisted on scheduling a sedated groom. I asked how much does a sedated grooming cost? She couldn't tell me until it was scheduled. (Must be their ridiculous corporate set up, not the receptionist's fault.) I said, well, I'm not going to pay for sedation, if it does come to that we will figure something else out or continue going to our hit-or-miss self wash place. I said look, I'm not going to pay what I'm assuming is around $1,000 for a sedated nail trim on my dog so why can't we just try a regular grooming and see how it goes? Because I'm assuming it will take longer to get on the schedule for a sedated grooming. Anyway....she finally agrees, and then notices that he needs a flu vaccine and it's required. I said, that's interesting because when I was there in September I was told it wasn't necessary so I declined it. Oh and also he's due for a 'well check' also. And the flu vaccine has to be in his system for at least 7 days before grooming. At this point I'm finding this to be the MOST COMPLICATED THING EVER, to just get my dog's nails trimmed! My god! So she says she'll talk to the vet and see if he needs a well exam or if the tech can just give him the now necessary vaccine. OK. We now have a grooming appointment for March 7th, 6 weeks out. As I await the call back about the well exam, I'm calling other non-corporate owned vet offices. I know none of this is the fault of the very nice woman on the phone, but for godsake this is ridiculous. I have a great cat vet, but they only see cats. Always a pleasure to deal with, and they can handle a nail trim on an anxious cat no problem. No that rigamarole at VCA! Quality vet services. More expensive than most. Don't contact them close to closing if you have an emergency, they will send you away. And don't call them or go in if your animal is poisoned. They will tell you that you will be charged for the visit and the charge for the call to poison control. I was told just to contact poison control directly and pay their fee. ??? isn't a veterinarian suppose to know the ins and outs of poison and animals? Why would they call poison control. I can understand if it's complex but seems like shifting liability just in case your animal doesn't survive. I don't know maybe it's just the Person answering the phone giving out advice. read more

However, if have a pet with a complicated chronic condition - take the time to find a vet who is willing to learn and listen. We've luckily found a vet that actually takes the time to appropriately care for a chronically ill pet in ways other than "let's pull out his teeth and hopes it makes the diabetes go away." Like wildly expensive. I make a habit of calling the day before any appointment to confirm prices of whatever my dog is going in to get and always make sure to have an extra few hundred bucks in my pocket because it's never been what they tell me on the phone. These days there's about two good receptionists and I only go to the same Dr. I'm looking to switch vets unfortunately because it's absolutely ridiculous how expensive this place is. later that day-9/2/21 UPDATE: after picking up Carl for grooming, I was hit with a bill for $160!!! Grooming costs $38. Attaching a breakdown of the services. (a tech instructional communication fee??? what does that even mean??) There is no way I would have willingly made the appointment had I known to expect this bill. Not only that, but my dog is still damp and is shedding like crazy. Hair literally flying off him as he walks around. When I made the appointment (because I learned to confirm the breakdown of costs before agreeing to anything) I confirmed the expected cost and confirmed again when I received the reminder call- grooming and bordatella only. Yes those only. My husband dropped Carl off this morning and they were apparently delayed and had him waiting and late to a meeting- told him the influenza would be required to get groomed or appointment was canceled. Again-- expected to pay a totally different amount. Luckily I can afford an unexpected cost like this, but others may not. Its enough money, enough times, that it could really impact someones financial stability. Clearly I am not the only one who feels this way-- I should have listened to the other reviews. I did not shop around for a vet and wish I would have. 9/2/21 Really wanted to like this place- for us it's conveniently located and the staff is friendly. We first started coming here when we got a puppy last March. Trying to get him neutered was near impossible at the time and we finally got in with them. I asked the cost of the surgery and was told in the ~$200 range. Smash cut later, we had a $1500 bill- he needed blood work, he needed IV, he needed sedatives, he needed this and that- none of which were mentioned ahead of the service. It was my own fault that I didn't decide to attempt to find another provider/clinic- we continued to go there and every single time, an "add on" service or additional vaccine or parasite test was added without my approval. I would always start with a simple request and be given a treatment plan that would exceed what I expected by HUNDREDS. We scheduled grooming, but oh wait- a Bordetella vaccine is needed and a flu vaccine is needed... grooming is no longer $40 but $100. I confirmed the total cost of the most recent grooming services we requested. When we dropped him off, were told the flu vaccine would be required. I don't understand how a vaccine the day of service will prevent anything? If you're one of the many many pet owners who use Chewy for your pet's Rx, they don't partner with them and every time Chewy attempts to request a refill of the heartworm/tick/flea medicine I get an automated email saying they cannot reach VCA, they do not share Rx via the Chewy request system. I am required to request a PAPER rx and mail it through USPS to Chewy. I have confirmed both with VCA and Chewy that this is a VCA red tape and inefficiency. Extremely annoying. I would not recommend this unless money is no object and you don't mind being nickeled and dimed at every turn. read more

I agree with some other reviews here that they are expensive and try to sell you add-on services. Even when you tell them THREE TIMES you don't want them. Like insurance or additional vax like the flu shot. And their communication from the front office DEFINITELY needs a clean-up. My chihuahua mix, Buddy, was due for a vaccination and so I took him in at his appointed time. When I made the appointment, they didn't say anything about their COVID procedures. We arrived and I started by getting him out of the car and walking to the entrance. There I read a "phone us" message. I called, still standing outside, and had to leave a message. Then when the receptionist called me back she asked where I was parked. Why? She said I'm supposed to park in a numbered space and then phone them and give them the #. I said "I didn't see any numbered spaces" so they had to tell me where in the parking lot these were located. I repark, call again, have to leave a message ... Finally they come take Buddy from me (really?) and bring him into the clinic and then I wait. Not dressed for sitting in my car in the cold in late January. (I have an EV with limited range and I can't use the heater unless I want to risk draining my battery and not being able to drive home.) Because I wasn't told this was a survival test, I hadn't brought anything to pass the time, like War and Peace or Anna Karenina. So I just waited. An hour. An hour and a quarter. And then I get a call from the vet saying Buddy looks fine and his total bill will be twice what I'd been quoted when I made the appointment. Apparently the person who quoted his cost only quoted for the exam, not the vax. The vet told me that although he's very healthy, he has some periodontal disease (most dogs his age do, but it's more common in small dogs) and needs a teeth cleaning. When, several min later, they brought Buddy to me, they gave me the written estimate for the teeth cleaning: $600-$700. I'm going to reconsider where I take my dogs for treatment. When it was time to get our other dog, Daisy, spayed I was quoted more than $900 here. I found a coupon through the Oregon Humane Society for another vet with great ratings and it cost me $90. By the time I got home I was so chilled to the bone that it took a steaming hot bath and two glasses of red to revive me. On the other hand, when it was time to euthanize our dog, Sadie, we took her there and the process couldn't have been kinder. The three stars are for her. read more

I've been taking my two cats to this vet for maybe six months and every visit went well. The staff was friendly and warm, the facility was clean and welcoming, and the people who worked here really seemed to love all of their patients. About two weeks ago, my oldest cat (male, seven years old) developed cystitis. We caught it pretty quickly and got him an emergency appointment. This is where everything went wrong: the staff forgot to inform us of a second medication and give it to us. By Monday morning, our cat was in serious distress, so we brought him back and our vet informed us of the additional medication. He seemed to be doing better, but on Tuesday/Wednesday, he was in distress again. We brought him back for a radiograph and additional treatment. Turns out, he bruised his genitalia from grooming too hard to soothe the discomfort he was feeling. We asked for partial compensation for the radiograph since their mistake of not giving him the second medication when we initially came in caused my cat pain, anxiety, and unnecessary stress. They declined, which is their prerogative, but what incensed me was their hospital manager, Debbie implying that the stress/anxiety my cat was experiencing was our fault. It's lovely to know how little they care about their patients, especially when their staff screwed up in the first place. Save yourself the hassle and look elsewhere. read more

I think the staff are kind, and they are supportive, I think the business practice is seriously flawed. I'm hoping to speak with management and filed a complaint with the website I could find over all VCAs. My husband took my dog to get spayed, 10 month old boxadore with no other issues, aside from pimple on her face. The bill was $1000. We did labs and it was $280 JUST for labs. Companion charged $89 dollars for preoperative labs. I'm so stupid to not have called, to not have run form that parking lot for $1500 dollar expense for a routine spay that cost less than 400$ everywhere else. This is unethical. I cannot believe the swing in cost it makes zero sense. I was in Portland and cost was $ 400vs Beaverton you think $1000 extra dollars by neighborhood. I paid $135, plus other fees for a total of $275 in 2019 for my other female at Companion. They don't take appointments and it's hours to sit there waiting but how can it be that much more to just confirm that I have an appointment. I took my now passed boxer in 2013 and his puppy package was 400$ including neuter, to a VCA hospital in Portland on Woodstock. My dogs teeth were extracted with sedation and it was $1200 at this same clinic--which is not a routine procedure so I understood this. This is outside the standard of practice fees. It's price gouging during COVID? I had no idea it would be this significantly different. I was expecting $400. This same clinic pre pays stool samples. I've paid for 4 stool samples likely and never got the poop in the door because I'm a functioning adult in the middle of a pandemic, with a six yo. DON'T Pre CHARGE. My cat was put down, and three days prior they PRE CHARGED me for the cats urine. I'm an idiot and should have waived this off, but I wasn't sure which directed he was going, don't pre pay though, just pay when the pee hits the slide or whatever. This is awful. My dog had to be left here for most of the day for X-rays and other tests, which went well but I never got a call to come get him. I had to call 10 minutes before they closed to ask where he was and then rush down there to get him. They also claimed he'd been snuggling with staff, when I know for a fact he does not like to be held and most likely was shut down from the stress. I have lived in Murray Hill since 1994 and gone to Murray Hill Veterinary Hospital on and off over the years depending on who the vets on staff were. Today they have good vets, a good staff, good process in place to work around covid 19 and timely response. So what is the rub and the low review? I took my two dogs in to get their teeth cleaned. One dog is a 15 year old big mut and the other is a 3 year old chihuahua mut. The big dog I had pretesting done due to age. In all the years I have had his teeth cleaned that pre testing bill has been between $60 and $120. This time the bill was $400+. Tests came back fine but I decided not to get his teeth cleaned after receiving a cleaning estimate of over $700. The little dog estimate was between $440 and $540 but because of her age I decided to proceed. Half way into the procedure the vet calls and says she needs 9 teeth removed and the total cost for that work plus the teeth cleaning would be OVER $1,200. After selling to VCA who is clearly TONE DEAF to the world economy Murray Hill has lost my business forever. My 3 animals will not be back. I am confident there is a vet somewhere in driving distance that provides good care without the price gouging of VCA. read more

MurrayHill will redefine your experience with Veterinary Hospitals. I have 3 Italian Greyhounds who get excited when we drive into the parking lot. (Yes, the little nervous dogs can't wait to see their Vet!) The care, attention, compassion and professional people who see me at my worst when something is wrong with my pups. Though I have been here many times (Covid 2020) Never having the chance to hug them for all they have done from neuter/spay, shots, teeth cleaning and even a broken leg, they are always Extraordinary! From the first call, to pick up from your car to delivery of your precious pup, the fear of something being wrong with your beloved pet, rest assured they will care for your pet, often times better than I (and maybe you) do. It's different during COVID, not actually being face to face with your vet. I've come to realize this is better for my pups (I get nervous and at times fearful). Without me they are eager to go in and see their favorite people in all the world - every single person who works here is exemplary. I have used this vet for over 10 years and I can give them a strong recommendation. I have used Dr. Zambelli, Dr. Zawadzk, and Dr. Shcolnik... and they are all top class experts who are very caring. They are very friendly and down-to-earth people. One thing I like about Murrayhill is that the waiting times for the doctor are short. Typically, I am used to waiting 15 to 20 minutes in the examination room after the initial consultation for the vet to arrive. At Murrayhill it's always less than 5 minutes. Murrayhill has NEVER have tried to upsell me or pressured me to buy stuff I don't want (like pet insurance, acupuncture, supplements, etc). They also remember me and my pets and really care. In addition, after my first pet died of old age they were very caring and had a private grieving room. I would classify Murrayhill as a mid-priced vet... They are not the cheapest you can find nor the most expensive. However, if you are on a budget then I still recommend Murrayhill. But, let the doctor know that you are on a budget and they will look for ways to keep the costs down. read more

Needed emergency help for a thankfully low-level injury with our dog. Circumstances of the injury were quite traumatic for us. Dr. Hardesty and the staff were comforting for both our pup pup and her parents... Pretty sure we needed soothing just as much as our pup did. Impressed again with the compassion and competent care provided. I appreciate that Dr. Hardesty always thoroughly explains not only "what" but "why" for each treatment. And clearly asks us if every course of action is approved and OK by us. If every veterinarian is this great these days, I'm glad to hear it! My beloved dog Mimi passed away peacefully last week from congestive heart failure and I want to thank three wonderful veterinarians at Murrayhill Veterinary Hospital who kept her happy and healthy for the nine years since we adopted her as a shy little stray dog from the Oregon Humane Society (OHS). I was a brand-new dog owner when we first met Dr. Zawadski for Mimi's initial check-up and both Mimi and I were a bit nervous, not knowing what to expect. But when Dr. Zawadski walked into the exam room, she was so warm, kind, and cheerful that any anxiety soon disappeared. She is also very skilled and competent. During that first visit, Dr. Zawadski found that one of her canine teeth was fractured and needed to be removed. She suggested that we ask the Oregon Humane Society to do this expensive procedure since they had missed it and OHS agreed, which saved us a whole lot of money. Dr. Zawadski cared for Mimi for many years and she will always have a special place in my heart. Years later, Mimi started limping which we thought was a minor sprain but it didn't go away. Dr. Zawadski was unavailable so we saw Dr. Zambelli, who we had never met. Dr. Zambelli was also very warm, compassionate, and an excellent vet. She gently and carefully examined Mimi and then diagnosed her with a torn ACL. She referred us to a skilled orthopedic surgeon who repaired Mimi's leg and pretty soon, Mimi was happily running around again. For the next several years, Dr. Zambelli monitored Mimi's hips as she developed a little arthritis from old age. Dr. Zambelli was always happy to see Mimi and me and I will remember her fondly. Then a year and a half ago, Mimi collapsed one day. I called Murrayhill Vet Hospital and was able to bring her in right away. Both Dr. Zambelli and Dr. Zawadski were not available but fortunately Dr. Hardesty was able to see her. I thought Mimi was just suffering from exhaustion or kennel cough since she was recently boarded while we were out of town. But Dr. Hardesty carefully listened to her heart and heard a murmur. She diagnosed her with congestive heart failure which was a total shock to us. Through it all, Dr. Hardesty remained calm and she carefully explained what was going on with Mimi, which helped us come to terms with this horrible unexpected disease. Dr. Hardesty made arrangements for Mimi to spend the night at the Emergency Vet Clinic of Tualatin and be seen the next morning by a veterinary cardiologist. Thanks to her heart meds and excellent care from Dr. Hardesty and the cardiologist, Mimi continued to enjoy a good quality of life and we felt comforted knowing that Mimi was getting the best care. I will always be grateful to Dr. Hardesty. I have been bringing my dogs to this practice for over 8 years. they are the best. Lots of negative reviews here focus on the overall costs, but ive found them to be on par with any other vet practice of quality. the staff are always great about being transparent with pricing, and they dont shame you about asking what things will cost, what alternatives there are, how long things could wait, etc. You need to ask is all. I think that in a world of employer health care it seems outrageous to see an actual related health bill. but theyre doctors and its still an x-ray. you know? and its a little expensive, but thats pets i guess. Dr Gerri Shcolnik is great, she is very reasonable, practical, and cares about the critters. my only suggestion / wish is that they cared for reptiles ;) All of the techs are skilled and patient with the critters, and their admin and front desk team are just the best. read more

I'm no stranger to vet clinics. When I'm not working at one I am taking my kitty there for every little thing because I am a paranoid cat mama. I recently moved to the area from SE Portland. I was going to Mt. Scott Animal Clinic (who I very much liked), but obviously that drive is a little far now... Murrayhill is great because they have a separate waiting area for cats. The vet techs are so caring and patient. They addressed every little concern I had for my sweet kitty. They had great advice and recommendations. Dr. Amy and the vet techs were amazing. What really sold me on Murrayhill was that when they did blood work for my cat they did it right in front of me in the exam room. I was not expecting that, and I've never had that be done at any vet I have ever taken any of my pets too. It was just so reassuring to see how kind and gentle they are. They even offered me a tour of the hospital but I think we both forgot about that (or maybe it was me that did, next time though!). They had a great offer as a first time client, and I will definable feel comfortable taking any pets of mine of there. Thank you so much for a really calm experience for me and my kitty!! read more

Murrayhill Veterinary Hospital is the best! We have had to take our Fur baby Yorkie here on many occasions (check ups, dental work, upset stomach, Ect.) they have always taken such good care of him and have him feeling better in no time. I am very protective of him and only want him to have the best care. They even call after our visits to check on him which shows they really care. We highly recommend Murrayhill Vet! read more

Top quality vet care AAHA approved. I'm so very lucky to have this place close by! They have saved two of my pets lives when emergency vets failed the night before. Dr Zambelli is experienced and wonderful, Dr Hardisti is caring and very experienced in medical high end care with a focus on dental issues, Dr. Smith is working with me on support care on my personally purchased treatment of GS-441524 cure for FIP. I got it not her but she is giving supportive care and deeply cares. My sick dying Neuro FIP girl is now alive and bouncing off the ceiling! On average the price is above average though a specific thing might be cheaper at Murrayhill. Not a discount vet but definitely highest quality. Jodi the groomer is amazing! She grooms my long haired former feral prone to panic cat with loving care. He even likes her after a bath and buzz cut! How do you bathe a cat and have it like you afterwards? Wow! She is amazing! My kitty looks wonderful coming from her. My brother used her dog grooming once on a visit and his ancient pekeaneese dog (a fur growing machine) looked the best I have ever seen. Jodi is a real treasure! She cat sit for me a few times years ago and was the most careful and wonderful petsitter I have ever hired but she isn't live in and now my cats are nearly 20 so they need live in and my friend stays with them. She filled in in an emergency after I had a medical emergency for pet sitting getting the keys after I was hospitalized. Jodis prices are average but she should be tipped well for her amazing level of care. I always tip her $25+. There are no better groomers if you could loving kind care and good looks. I've gotten digs and cats groomed for decades. She is by far the best. There are many other good vets but this place is a great choice for high quality loving kind care. For grooming Jodi is sitting on Mt Olympus grooming the goddess Athena's owl. ;-) She is just that good, that gods would seek her loving care for their pets. Animals love her. Betting Cerberus the three headed guard dog of Greek legends would sit and snuggle with Jodi. She is the best! read more

We found ourselves in a bad situation with our pup after getting negligent care at a different vet. After struggling to find specialty care Dr. Hardesty went out of her way to get us an appointment and connect us with an appropriate ortho specialist. We were literally out of options and she brought a glimmer of hope to our dire situation. The staff were all absolutely amazing. The care shown in obvious ways was awesome, but the care shown in the little things blew us away! Hearts on bandages, washing and brushing of soiled fur (because of recent surgery we could not do this) and many other small acts of compassion we're so appreciated. Every person we interacted with genuinely cared for us and made us feel like everything was going to be ok. We are so overwhelmed with how great everyone was I can't really find the words to articulate what we experienced. I would absolutely recommend this facility to anyone and their furry family members! read more

My husband and I have been using Murrayhill Veterinary Hospital for over 6 years and have always received exceptional care for our Great Dane, Phineus. We have had continuous positive interactions with staff, excellent response times, and compassionate communication for our fur baby at every turn. 2018 has brought us a new member to our family. On New Years Eve, we had a stray Yorkie end up on our front porch. Though we were unsure how she arrived on our door step, it was evident that this poor animal was in need of significant medical attention. It was without a thought that we reached Murrayhill to ensure this puppy was able to get the best care possible, as we worked to connect with our community and locate the owners. Sadly, we learned that due to her significant medical concerns, the previous owners had chosen to get rid of this sweet girl. We took their loss as our gain. After finalizing the adoption, we had the privilege of getting to work closely with Dr. Liz Hardesty and her veterinary team. She immediately embraced this sweet dog as if she had been a patient for years, and helped us create a care plan that ensured her medical needs were met, all while giving respect and consideration to our family needs. From the moment we walked through the door with this sick puppy, the staffs evident love and compassion was unable to be missed. The staff knew her name, her story, and was evidently rooting to see a speedy recovery. We left our first appointment with Dr. Hardesty so thankful that we found such a personable vet, who shared such a big heart for terriers. It is because of this veterinary team that though we now live roughly 1 hour away from the clinic, and we have and will continue to drive both of our pets to ensure their care remains at Murrayhill Veterinary Hospital. We adopted a dog in August and got a free vet exam with her adoption fee. I took her to Murrayhill because it was close to my house. The vet tech was really nice and the vet was too, until I told her under no circumstances was I going to spend $300 + right then and there. I felt like I was being sold a used car. They tried to up-sale all kinds of stuff that my dog didn't need. I am an experienced and informed dog owner and I have been in the pet industry for 10+ years. When I told her that my dog didn't need all of the stuff she recommended the vet got pissed and in a very condescending tone said to me, "Didn't you know dogs are expensive?" I couldn't believe how rude she was. The other thing that happened, she looked in my dog's ear and because it was slightly dirty, made me do an ear swab.The dog's ear was dirty, I had just adopted her of course her ears were going to be dirty. I was also upset because they recommended doing another dhlpp 3 year shot after this dog had already been vaccinated twice for dhlpp at the shelter that SAME month!!! Hello, can you say "over-vaccinated"? I really feel like they were trying to re-coup the cost of my free vet visit by up-selling and it felt like they were all about getting their money. Edited to add ~ The Dr. did not explain that the lepto vaccine was a series of 3 shots and that I would have to come back twice more. I found out about that when I payed. The second time we came back they took my dog to the back and I could hear her screaming. I asked the receptionist to check on my dog and she wouldn't! She just said "Oh we hope that's not yours screaming." When they brought her back she looked traumatized and the Tech stated that she didn't like having her temperature taken. My dog would not take a treat from the tech and she loves food more than anything and will always take treats no matter what. On the third visit for the lepto I asked to stay with my dog, they put me in a room and I got a lot of attitude from the tech in the room! I will not be back to Murrayhill. I do not feel comfortable there at all. I felt like they are all about their money and I don't like that they take the dog away from you to do simple procedures. read more
