Definitely 5 out of 5- Saturday was my first time at the new (well probably not as new anymore) location in Downtown Vancouver and I was impressed- I'd been to the previous location and liked that one a lot too. The staff was super friendly and the lavender latte is amazing- It says seasonal but I hope they keep it around permanently. I would go out of may way in the morning for that latte, it is that good. The vibe was also pretty great- You could tell they have regulars, which shows a lot, and it was a great atmosphere. This is easily the best coffee in Vancouver. Each coffee roast is artfully crafted and unique to the palate. This coffee house is also the perfect blend of rich wood accents and natural light. I go way out of my way to come here, and it is always 110% worth it. read more

The coffee isn't the same, it's better than Starbucks and most places but the environment is way to loud and the new baristas aren't friendly as the ones that have been there for a long time. I guess I haven't been here for a while for a reason. read more

The espresso here is very good. The menu only has a few items, which is a great sign. Typically, when a coffee house has only a few options, it's because they focus on the actual flavor and quality of the beans, and that was the case in Compass. Loved the coffee. Was absolutely delicious. The service was not so great. I have never been there and was a bit confused on where to order or what type of they serve. When I walked in I immediately said hello and got no response. I walked up to the counter and the girl said " you order over here" so I smiled and said "sorry I have never been here" she handed me a list of drinks and I mentioned that I usually order white mocha and wasn't sure what they had. She smiled and walked away. I felt that she just didn't care and I should order from the list she gave. I got a vanilla latte and I got my husband (not in the building) an Americano room for cream. She placed both my drinks on the counter without saying they were mine. I waited a bit until the person after me got their coffee and I asked if the drinks on the counter were mine. I got my coffee from the counter and just felt like I didn't matter. That I was an inconvenience. That I was bothering them with being in there. Love how cute this place is! I met my friend here for coffe after work, and totally loved that it's open late. It is super convenient off of I5 and super easy to find. They have the cutest decor in there, from succulents to ceramic elephants. My friend ordered a latte and it was very well presented. Wonderful place to get a cup of coffee, peoplewatch for the downtown professionals and the granola parents, and experience a nice variety of treats. The space is gorgeous and light-filled, and when you're sitting in will often make you wonder, "What on earth are they doing with that empty block across the street? Ooh, BTW, this matcha latte is soo good." Compass Coffee gets five stars from me based on being open at 8 am on a Saturday. I work in downtown Vancouver; had to go in on a random weekend-day, and was growing deeply concerned by the time I'd passed 2 "open at 9" coffee hauses in my vicinity. My coffee was great and they offer a great selection of sweet & savory breakfast treats. It's also pleasing to the eye; a little slick but at least not Starbucks. read more

Great spot, staff and coffee. It gets crowded at times but for some reason I can always find seating. They're open early and late and the new spot is smack in the center of Downtown. The baristas are always willing to strike up a conversation and I always feel welcome. read more

This is my favorite coffee in Vancouver and has been for years, even at the old location on Main. Love it! It just seems like every time I visit, there are less and less outside tables to sit at... I am new to Vancouver and I really enjoy Compass coffee. I have probably been around 5-10 times. They are one of the only places in Vancouver that serves vegan baked goods (from Back to Eden) and they really can make a killer latte. I never hang out because that's just not my kind of thing, but there are plenty of tables to do so. I can't speak of the loud music that some of the other folks on here have written about (maybe the owners decided to turn it down a notch), it's always been a good volume in my opinion. The staff I have met have been friendly. I have yet to have any mistakes made on any of my orders and every time I take a friend here, they also enjoy the place. It's like having a tiny piece of downtown Portland in Vancouver. I tried an Earl Grey Tea Latte (?) the other day made with almond milk and it was amazing. Definitely check this place out if you can! Did I mention the vegan baked goods? Not easy to find on this side of the bridge. read more

I went to Compass a lot at the old location. It had always been warm and inviting, I would want to stay for hours. Today I went to this location and it lost all of its personality and warmth. May as well had been a Starbucks. The coffee is mediocre, and they roast it locally. read more

I ordered a cappuccino for which I paid $3.50. It came in a surprisingly small cup not much bigger than a demitasse. It took 90 seconds to drink. It didn't have any of the complex flavor or smooth creaminess that a cappuccino should have. read more

I've been going here since before it was even at this location. The people that work here are very friendly, and the coffee is really good. The tea is excellent - it's loose-leaf, timed, and steeped at the right temperature. Came in this afternoon because I love this spot, and wanted to show a few family members and sadly I was super disappointed by the service. My uncle had ordered a English breakfast tea, and had kindly asked if it could be iced. The young lady agreed. Well ten minutes go by, then there's the tea in the window but not iced. He asked nicely again if it could be iced and she rolled her eyes at him and asked another girl to make it.
