Over the last 20 years I've been to 3 Chiropractor before visiting Dr. Chen's Compassion Chiropractic offices. None of the offices had X-ray machines on site. None of the chiropractors performed a complete postural evaluation. And none of the doctors I visited offered a complete treatment program. Instead my typical chiropractor's office visit lasted between 10 and 15 mins. Enter Compassion Chiropractic. My issue was a pesky pain in my left shoulder which affected my range of motion that was bothering me for months. My visit was easily arranged by phone and confirmed by text message. When I arrived, Dr. Chen's office already had all my medical information because I'd easily filled it out online. On my 1st visit, I entered the modern, and super clean offices and was promptly greeted by the receptionist. Dr. Chen's associate Dr. Geoffrey went over my health history, preformed some reflex & strength tests and took X-rays in their office...I didn't need to go to another provider, as well as photographs of me to assess my posture. I was in the office for about 45 mins. On my 2nd visit, Dr. Chen's associate discussed my X-ray's and posture images with me and together with Dr. Chen they provided me with a comprehensive CUSTOMIZED TREATMENT plan .... And on the same day Dr. Chen administered 3 different forms of treatment, electrical muscle stimulation, Acupressure and Chiropractic Adjustment, which took about 45 mins. instead of a 10-15 min Band-Aid approach. I've now been to Dr. Chen's office 8 times. I've never been kept waiting, as is the practice in most doctor's offices. I always get a text reminder about my apt., the office is always immaculate, and they follow a strict COVID protocol. On my 8th visit I saw Mark, Compassion's massage therapist. During my one hour non-traditional therapeutic massage, Mark was able to manipulate my left shoulder back into its proper position and basically solve my pesky and painful left shoulder range of motion issue. I can honestly say that Dr. Chen and Compassion Chiropractic is the best chiropractic care I've ever received. read more

Dr. Jeff and Dr. Chen are both great. Dr. Jeff was thorough in reviewing all my aches and pains. He took x-rays during the first visit. On the second visit, he explained the x-ray findings. Dr. Jeff also demonstrated several exercises to help strengthen the body. Then Dr. Chen gave me an adjustment - popped my neck, adjusted my spine and loosened up a very tight hamstring. Many of you folks reading this probably have experienced an array of different Chiropractors. The expectations are usually about the same, like the burger chain name your "In and Out" in 5 to 10 minutes with no prelim. prep before the adjustment. I hurt my lower back last year while working in the garden. At the beginning I thought the pain will slowly go away, but it didn't. Moving my review now that Dr Chen's practice has changed offices-- Same great service, slightly less convenient location. Totally worth it. The last chiro I went to in Boston was this ground level studio with a fleet of adjustment benches in their dual purpose lobby. You waited in these plastic chairs along the glass shop front window, strewn with damp kid's toys and spinal column demonstration pieces, watching other people cycle through their 5 minute sessions. Heaven help you if your wardrobe malfunctioned. Expecting this sort of adventure, I picked a place with rave yelp reviews that was in walking distance from work and kept reasonably late hours. The first phase of adjustments can be at frequencies of 2-3 times per week and I didn't want coworkers speculating about why their 30ish female coworker had to keep popping out for doctor's appointments... glass ceilings are enough of a pain in the neck. So Dr. Chen's office is in a completely different class-- * Little to no wait. Their lobby is mostly decorative-- even when I show up early, they get me into an exam room in less than 3 minutes. * Privacy. All of the rooms I have been in are private, one-bed affairs or have privacy curtains between them. * Electrostimulation/accupressure mini sessions. Adjustment sessions tend to last more like 20 minutes because they have you hanging out listening to classic rock with these muscle stimulator things vibrating your muscles into a more relaxed state, or you're taking a couple deep breaths with pressure applied to big muscle groups that tend to tighten up. * Cost effective exercises. So the last place basically said I wouldn't get better unless I bought this $150 thing that amounts to a headband with 20 pounds of weight in it. Right. Dr. Chen emails you a list of much more cost effective stretches and exercises (a yoga ball was the most rare/expensive thing on the list). You also get a CD of your intake X-rays to share with friends. So yeah, after a little over a month of treatment, the tension was gone, the curvature of my neck came up from 20 degrees to 25 (my posture was a little closer to the second to last phase in that "March of Progress" picture of man coming from apes). I've continued visiting Dr. Chen periodically over the past 2 years. My only gripe is what sort of sadist puts a chiropractic office on a second floor? stairs and risk of falling are not a valid retention strategy! (j/k) recommend. read more

Oh, the pain... I always wait until I am in real pain to see a doctor. I began to realize each morning that it took me longer to be able to get out of bed and start the day. The soreness. The aching took longer during the day to subside. It used to go away once I got out of bed and moved around. I just got used to living like this. After a series of regular adjustments and stretching at home, I feel like my old self again. I wake up feeling great! I look forward to my maintenance adjustments because I always leave feeling refreshed, yet I seem to be staying stable and pain free for longer periods in between. Dr. Chen and his team are amazing!! The initial examination was very thorough and Dr. Chen ensured I completely understood how to read the x-rays and had good 'homework' exercises to take home. Initially I had two appointments each week, but was quickly able to reduce to one per week and now I'm on a maintenance regimen of around once per month (if I feel necessary). I have been to only a few chiropractors in my life, as they make me anxious (there's a chance they could do further damage), but there is zero anxiety with Dr. Chen!
