Extremely professional practice & staff - always seems to have the best interest of our fur babies in mind. Can be expensive at times, but it's worth the prompt & efficient veterinary care. All 4 of our dogs have been patients at Grandview Vet for about 3 years now since moving to the area. We've had a handful of health needs addressed (Spaying procedure, stress colitis, anxiety/behavioral, annual exams, sick visits, vaccinations, monthly medications) you name it, we've been seen for it, and all health needs have been quickly resolved. Do you want a vet? Don't go here. If you want sales people with little to no moral foundation you've found the right place. I was told I could not leave the office with my dog unless he got a shot (he already had it she just could not find the record). Here the whole ideology was a lie. After calling the vet bluff we were kicked out (with her screaming down the hallway). I can see why they have to beg for new clients. Once this place goes out of business I pray a new owner comes along and makes this place worth of the name compassionate care. I was also threatened legally for leaving a bad review. My pet is a new Patient here and I was satisfied. Price seemed a bit high but the main expense was testing and I dont know if its much less elsewhere. This appears to be the only independent vet in the area- The others are corporate chains and have gone though drastic negative changes in recent years, so those ppl that left negative reviews may want to re think thier comparisons. If I could I'd choose zero stars! today my parents took their only animal in to be seen, they were given bad news as he had to be put down, and while their cat was being put down a rude nasty woman came into the room and was nasty to my mom about wearing her mask above her nose! Seriously! If you can't be compassionate don't work in a Veterinarian office. This treatment is not necessary. You should have let my mother have her peace with her animal. I will tell you, this place will never have my business! Also, Covid restrictions have been lifted and my dad couldn't go in to pay his respects to their pet! In case you rude nasty people aren't aware., this is someone's pet and in some cases someone's child, I will pray your hearts change towards people, because no one should have to lose a pet and have someone be nasty to them. read more

Avoid this place. It's ok for minor issues, but not worth the headaches. Vets aren't that great and too many people have told me their bad experiences here. Main receptionist is nasty and rude. Moving my dog to better clinic. They recently changed the name to Grandview Estates Veterinary We have been taking our dogs here for about 8 months, in part because they were the only office accepting new patients during the pandemic, so kudos for them for doing that. As of this writing, no clients are now allowed inside and all interactions are curbside with vet techs only when dropping off or picking up animals, even though the state has lifted covid restrictions and every other vet I've contacted allows the owner inside. I strongly believe this is because it's easier for staff to be rude over the phone and treat clients poorly when not facing them. I came here because my dogs needed a vet-any vet- and the entire time I've never even MET the docs. Overall the vets are just okay. I do prefer Dr. Matt as he is more inclined to listen to clients, instead of lecture them without seeking to understand the full situation. She has an air that you are lucky at all to pay her for the privilege of dropping off your animal. Somehow our animals got stuck with Dr. Culverwell. Oh, and she heavily pushes one line of dog food. The main front receptionist is downright rude and nasty. Several times when I've called to check in for my appointment on time or early, I have been put on hold for several minutes while I wait in my car, only to have her complain that I'm late when they finally pick up the phone several minutes after my appointment time. Once I called to tell her I was actually a few minutes late (and I mean about 4 minutes), but was on hold so long that I'd arrived when they finally picked up the phone. She complained about that, too. Once they kept me on hold well after the appointment time, and she sniped, "Your appointment was earlier!" Yes, I know & I arrived on time. This attitude would be easier to tolerate if they didn't routinely make you wait after calling to tell them you've arrived. Another time I was trying to make a follow up appointment, and she complained, "You are making this very difficult!" because I don't have a set daily schedule. She is also a know-it-all who will lecture you on veterinary medicine, in spite of being told you're not interested. The owner of the business, Dr. Culverwell, was uninterested in hearing about any of that. I am always stressed going here because I'm waiting for the bitchy nastiness from this woman. Ironically there is a male receptionist who handles his job well. He's friendly, can check you in w/o making you wait. I've spoken to enough people in the area who avoid this place like the plague for experiencing similar issues. They've also told me about rudeness from Dr. Culverwell, encouraging unnecessary treatments, padding costs and overall bad medicine. I understand why & encourage you to avoid it, too. read more

My family has continued to go to Compassionate once it was sold to new owners. We were comfortable with them. Fast forward to now. My husband and I had to put our dog down. Because of covid, they told us we had to choose which one of us can come in to be with him. That DESTROYED me. I couldn't do it so I had to sit in the car knowing what was going on inside and I could not be with him at his last breath. And not being able to support my husband who now has to do it alone. I understand completely the rules that business have for covid, but with this case, you can't allow both owners be together at this time of heartbreak? I was mortified. 3 weeks later I found out that we were not going to get our dogs ashes back. Which we 100 % wanted. My husband had a conversation with the receptionist on what cremation box we wanted. The paperwork had choices on what type of cremation to choose from. With talking about payment with the receptionist, we chose the cheaper one. AS LONG AS WE GOT ASHES BACK. (verbally said) They did not tell us that the one we picked on paper was the one you don't get ashes back. So no ashes. he was spread out along with other cremations. My reasoning for being this upset about all of this is if they just slow down and understand how people feel in this time of devastation, that you explain clearly and go over everything that you sign off. I hope this does not happen to anyone else. This error just felt like we had to be moved on so the next appt can come in. There is no way I can continue to go there. Damage is done. I only gave it a start because of all of this Dr Matt was the only one who took the time out to listen to how I felt. read more

I have tried to be adaptable with these people. I was a client of Compassionate Care when it was under the former owner, and I stayed through the transition. I don't think these people are deliberately trying to be difficult, but they make dealing with them very hard. First is the automatic phone answering system. The messages on it are clear, concise and condescending. Secondly is the policies that they put in place. Like you must bring your cat in a cat carrier. I can understand wanting the cat confined, but only accepting a plastic box seems rather rigid. I have waited on hold for very long times, and I accept that, but when I am calling to ask for help, it is difficult. When you go in the office, you have to get a temperature check and sign an affidavit about Covid exposure and risks. The final straw came the other day....I have a terminally ill dog. The vet changed her medicine dosage last Thursday and over the weekend it became obvious that she was having difficulty adjusting to this change. I called to update the doctor on this. I was told I had to leave a message on the prescription line. The prescription line said, "Messages here are picked up at the end of the day, and it takes 24 hours to fill a prescription." Meaning that by the time I could pick up the med, it would be Wednesday, five days since I knew I had a problem. I lost it. I yelled at the answering machine about how frustrating that was and how it just is not acceptable to have to wait that long when you have a sick animal. Several hours later, the vet called and said she didn't want us as a patient any more. She was unwilling to see my old dog through the end of her life. So I don't know what I'm going to do, as there aren't a lot of vets in the area. I'd even go back there if I could because I'm in a pickle, but I'd have a really hard time recommending it to any new people. read more
