Marc is an incredibly proficient technician. He may be one of the few--if not the only--techs who…read morecan repair DAT machines like the Panasonic SV-3700. He successfully fixed both of mine, and thanks to his expertise, I was able to retrieve years of archived music. I highly recommend him--he's not only skilled, but also honest and fair.

We got a VHS/DVD combo from my husband's grandmother who passed away and after testing it we…read morerealized it's not powering. We wanted to fix it. Who used a VCR nowadays? Well, us, for work related transfers and as cinefile-s (some movies - and they're rare were never released passed the VHS era). I started to look into Electronic Repair stores in the area and there aren't many left. Not surprised, but it's LA, so luckily, there are a few left in business, like FET Electronics. I read the Yelp reviews, it was encouraging and bookmarked it! Fast forward 3 months later, we had another issue with a similar Panasonic model that we own, so we decided to give the place a shot. My husband called over, talked to Mark, the owner and felt reassured after their conversation because he identified the issues just over the phone. We stopped by one day and dropped them and met Mark, who is very nice, knowledgeable, a real professional. Not many like him left behind! Too bad that is a profession that is going away. You don't always feel like throwing out equipment that has an issue and get a new one, not always that easy for your set up. Everyone has their reasons! The place is in Burbank, on Burbank Blvd. (close to the Hollywood Way intersection), we found street parking in front. The store might seem small, but it goes all the way back! It's a geek electronics paradise, lots of audio equipment around. Mark also did work for major musicians like Van Halen among many others - check his photo gallery on the wall! Famed clients! We left the VCR-s, called in about 2 weeks and he fixed them, he was testing them to make sure! After a few days we picked them up, he checked them for us, and he gives you a 3 months warranty which is great. If you're in a rush, this might not work out since Mark is busy, but if you're patient, he will get it fixed in a few weeks. It's not cheap, but he gets high quality parts and it makes sense for the repair to last. If you have an old piece of equipment that needs to be fixed, Mark is the guy. Hurry in before he retires! He is very nice, kind, nice to chat with, reassuring, calm, and very, very knowledgeable, you will trust him on the spot. Closed in the weekend! Great experience, great place, hope it will be around for a while. It helped our situation and the location is great! Nice to get great service at a local small business in the area!

If I could give 20 stars I would. Johnny is reliable,…read moreextremely competent and reasonable. He has done a couple of repairs and each time I was more than satisfied. I highly recommend Johnny for tv installation and repair.

I'm bewildered. Is it possible that an honest, reputable and affordable service business like this…read morestill exists?? My SONY 3D TV picture became a pixelated mess on Sunday and I spent Mon and Tues researching how to fix it. Everything online said it can't be fixed. I called three highly-recommended repair shops and none of them would even touch it after looking at the screen captures. All three told me to throw it out and get a new one. 3D TVs are obsolete now and there are no new ones to get! Frustrated, I forced myself to accept reality. I had just put the TV in the doorway to be set out by the trash on Wednesday when John returned my message and said he could fix it and would be by in an hour to pick it up. I looked up his Yelp reviews and they were eyebrow raising, to the point of too good to be true, and my cynical nature was setting up red flags all over the place. He showed up and was cheerful, respectful and completely confident he would have it repaired and returned "hopefully by Saturday, but definitely by Monday." He loaded the TV in his car and was off and I spent the rest of the day wondering when the call would come where he told me he couldn't fix it after all and it would have to be thrown away. But yesterday, 24 hours after taking the TV away, he called to say it was fixed and he was on his way to deliver it. And he did. And it was fixed. And I don't know what he did, but the picture actually looks better than it did before he picked it up. And the 3D works great. And the price was very fair. And I feel like I dreamed the whole episode. My God, what a world this would be if every business was like this! If you are ever in need of TV repair service, let this guy be your first choice. I guarantee that you will never have need for another.

    Val's TV Repair

I needed a DLP chip put into my TV, so because of the raving reviews of Val's, I called…read more I told whomever it was that I was speaking with that I had the part because I was going to do it myself, but when I opened the lightbulb compartment, I thought forget it, I'll have someone else do it. He responded that he wouldn't want to touch it because I opened the TV and he didn't want to be responsible as there may be something else wrong. NONSENSE! That's bunk, there is nothing else wrong with the TV and I only opened the light bulb compartment, it's actually made for the consumer to open and replace the bulb, it's one screw and a slide in compartment. NOTHING could have been touched and/or broken, by opening that. And either way, the bulb compartment has absolutely zero effect upon the DLP chip/mother board, they are separate components. My guess, based upon some friends in Chicago who do TV repair, is that this shop is one which wants to hit you with a huge mark-up on the part and then diagnose something else wrong so they can make more money. Kinda like how tire shops won't install tires you bought somewhere else, they want that mark-up & over-charge. Why else would someone not want to take my money for an easy 1-2-3 job to install a part, they could be in and out in a heartbeat and not have to go through the pain of ordering the part, and be onto the next job. Ridiculous, I won't be recommending anyone to use Val's (dare I call it) "service". Sorry, but whomever it was on the phone that I spoke to, I call BULLS**T on you. EDIT: OK OK, look, maybe I jumped the gun, I was informed that there are people who dig into their TVs and f--k them up, then call TV repairmen then blame the technician for the damage they did. Yeah, I get it, and I feel for TV guys in that scenario. However, I told him what I had opened and he immediately flipped the switch to off. he didn't ask for clarification and I grant him that he doesn't know me from the next joe... plus how many of those scumbags can there possibly be? Do they outnumber those who wouldn't be a scumbag? Regardless, I don't want to do business with someone who is scarred from bad customers, just like I don't want to date a woman who is scarred from other guys & holds me responsible--because those bad people are everywhere, we can't avoid them, we have to do our business as though it's a business. Sometimes we strike out and sometimes we hit home runs. That's business in America.

Very reasonable pricing and quick response. What another Repair place quoted $300-$325 and 5-10…read moredays to fix, we got fixed in 1 day for much, much less. Will definitely use their services again, if needed, and refer to family and friends.
