I appreciated how clean he kept the workspace and for keeping the health and safety of my family a top priority. I highly recommend you consider Soma Tile for your next project! Summary: Soma Tile (Lucas) is a partner through the process and his team is comprised of skilled…read moreand courteous professionals. I would not hesitate in referring them to anyone looking for bath and tile work!! Preface: Let me start this tale with some background. This project was not an exciting "Lets update our 20 year old bathroom and make it stylish and pretty". Instead the project started due to an undetected leak, the stress that comes from random water leaking in random places, and was filled with questions and concerns. Countless others "assured" me that this was a plumbing issue or just due to some neglected maintenance on a 5 year old new-install shower - and then wanted to blast holes everywhere to "find" the leak. At the same time, I did not want to rip apart a shower to then find out it might be plumbing and now a full on repair. I felt overwhelmed in making the wrong choice and doing 2 projects chasing my tail. Lucas walked me through all the typical scenarios that he has seen, leaning on the most probably is a structural fail of the shower system and then did a methodical exploration. A couple hours later and a minimal demo, he confirmed that it was in fact not plumbing related and was def. a failure of the shower system -- and walked me through what it would take. Once his team was onsite, they were focused - creating a whole "clean room" at the entry to the bathroom. 1 day demo, 1 day water-proof, 2 days tile - all while providing the proper time for dry-out and leak testing between steps. Lucas is a perfectionist, being critical on the most minor details -- which to someone that also strives for this level, but has no idea what they are looking for, was very much appreciated. Additionally, he has instilled this value in his team - that are true craftsman with their skill. Each step of the process was walked through, discussed, and made sure we understood the task, goal, and expectations. This is why I say Lucas/Soma Tile was a true partner in this project, as it wasn't a fun project -- it was an overwhelming stressful start where Soma Tile helped take some of the burden and concerns off our shoulders and work it through with their own expertise, experience, and dedication - ensuring every step was executed with precision. Soma Tile knows their craft - Lucas is a partner, his team are craftsman. Huge Thanks to Lucas, Jesus, and Miguel -- not to forget Jose who magically appeared on the last day to leave the place spotless.

First we hired Best to fix a cracked water seal pan in the upstairs standup shower...they fixed it to perfection while completely rebuilding the shower, the tiles, and the pipes. This time - we hired Best to do a complete bathroom renovation... I just continue to be blown away by the owner - Steve Best. His communication is what sets him apart from every other contractor. He's basically a customer's dream to partner with on a project. Rebecca at the office emails you for the admin side - keeping aligned with updates and transactions. Steve texts/calls you almost daily with the gameplan, the strategic approach, the agenda and schedule. I'm so thankful because unlike most contractors, Steve keeps everything on schedule - running daily - and makes sure his team gets to the finish line efficiently, quickly, and to satisfaction. Steve's crew works every day...and they put in a full day's work. They don't leave you hanging, they don't ghost you for days upon weeks without explanation and they NEVER leave a mess. They work super clean and always pickup after themselves. They start the job. They work at the job every day. They finish the job. All along the journey you're clued in, you're given timelines and reasoning...and you're a part of a collaboration with Steve to make sure the job gets done right! If there were a grade higher than A+ ...that's what I'd give Steve and his crew. HIRE THEM ASAP, you'll have zero regrets!

We really have no complaints at all, we'd absolutely use them again.

I've debated writing a review since the tile work was completed in Dec 2025. We ultimately feel the…read morejob was done poorly and Aldo was very reactive, making communication difficult. He never once stepped foot in our home and the project was a complete headache for us. 2 installers were initially sent to do the job, they ran into hiccups and got behind on their timeline so another person was added to the job who was far from detail oriented. Then the job became a rush effort and the results shows. Tile spacers weren't used so grout lines are inconsistent with a variety of spacing, grout was poorly completed leaving some large gaps along the perimeter, some missed areas and multiple stains where tile was ineffectively cleaned before it was sealed. They installed tiles with chipped corners in highly visible areas while there was plenty of extra tile to work with, and the tiles are far from level. Yes, it's natural stone, we understand there are natural variations in tile thickness but a skilled installer would have done much better work. It's really a shame, and a very costly one. Aldo sold me on his expertise and being "the best", with his hard sell strategy - which should have raised a cautionary flag. Any questions I raised during installation or concerns I had turned into a heated discussion and being told I should do the job if I know so much about how it should be done. His bid was very detailed with numerous bullet points identifying each step that would be taken from demo to completion. If I asked why a step was skipped or appeared to be incorrect it would result in a wound up and defensive argument with him. He also stated that the bid is written with AI, so "there's extra details that aren't necessary". Really?! Then edit the bid before you send it along. So, here we sit with a forever floor that cost over $30k for apx 800sf - plus $3000 in electrical work for the heated floor thermostats, and we are deeply disappointed. We're stuck with it and what seem to be a few "f-you" tiles that are so obviously installed for a good toe stub - in very high traffic areas. (I guess that's how the installers say "f-you" without saying it.) I don't recommend this company. They got paid in full and we got a subpar floor.

Couple tiles were not set properly - shower wall one tile protruding out and on the floor tile uneven height. There was not enough grout on the shower floor or the actual floor you could see the holes in it. We also had a shelf put in and everything they did looked sloppy!! Complained about the work and they sent someone to fix it. They did replace one floor tile and put more grout to cover the protruding tile did not fix but put a bandage on it. The guy that came to fix the problems did not fix everything. My husband had to grout the shower floor and floor himself because he did not want them back in our home. The guy that came to fix all the problems did not protect the new tile floor and just put the broken up tile and mortar right on top of new floor. Then he used our snow shovel to pick up the debris , yes that is right a snow shovel on our brand new tile floor!!!

I've been thinking of remodeling my kitchen for at least 10 years. The process started by sitting…read moredown at Lowe's with one of their kitchen designers and getting a free layout and cabinet estimate. Over the next 10 years I took that Lowe's layout to no less than a dozen cabinet companies to get their pricing. The pricing always came in around $10,000+ (except for one importer who sold cheap, rather than good cabinets in a limited number of styles and colors. None of which we liked.) Then a month ago, driving north on Gary avenue in Carol Stream I just happened to spot this place and thought I'd try again to price out the Lowe's design because we were now ready to do something. I went into the place and immediately started walking around. I didn't wait for a sales person because I wasn't sure if I'd like the place and didn't want some fast-talking salesman to start accosting me for my business. I'd looked for a few minutes before I was approached by Jim, a pleasant older gentleman. He was nice so I told him what I was looking for and we casually discussed a few options. I told him I had the Lowe's kitchen design and he said he'd be happy to price it out with the cabinets I liked (he didn't want to see their pricing). I emailed him the design minus the prices and he came back with some design drawings. We talked some more over email and I asked him to stop by my house to see my kitchen. He did and we had a great conversation and we got ideas for other ways to do the kitchen. After looking at the kitchen, Jim put together everything we liked, added in the monthly manufacturer promotions, and ended up THOUSANDS less than any other quality cabinet place. So today we visited the showroom to go over every part of the cabinet order before putting down a deposit. After all was said and done, even after we added many pullout drawers, did some upgrading and getting some trim pieces (not on the original Lowe's design), he beat my 10 year old barebones Lowe's kitchen design price by over $1,500! I can't recommend Jim and this place strongly enough. (I'll let you know if things don't go smoothly once we receive the cabinets.)
