As I finally got to be next in line, both associates were busy helping customers with in-store purchases. One customer at checkout decided she wasn't quite finished browsing, leaving the associate and me awkwardly waiting for several minutes. While I stood there, Shay came up front as she was about to clock out for the night. She noticed me standing there empty-handed and quickly realized I was probably there for a pickup. Without hesitation, she stepped in and kindly helped me herself. I truly appreciate Shay going above and beyond to assist me, especially when she was already off the clock. Where did the time go? She needed coiled spring type & especially to the edge of the mattress. Chris G, the sales manager suggested their house Matthews brand. Wife said it was too soft even though price was cheaper & it was their firmest mattress in the house. He then recommended the Stearns & Foster, Rockwell ultra firm mattress. This company started back in 1846. Wow we just heard of them this year. We had shopped at Matthew's Mattress on Sunday & Chris explained that they don't deliver on Sundays. No extra fee for delivery. Yes! We received our mattress the next day. The delivery guy called in the morning saying they will be late as they were in Vallejo. Huh? Their window was 12-4 PM. He called back at 230 & said they are on their way from Vacaville. They were in & out in ten minutes with their masks on. They took our old mattress quickly & delivered the new. They were done by 335 pm. They weren't late at all. Awesome! Wife had been sleeping well for the last two weeks. Happy wife, happy life! Right? Yay for my sanity. I called the Sleep Number corporate number and they sent me a useless part that wasn't part of the problem. I went through my surgery then realized I really need my bed to work for comfort. The repair center wouldn't repair my bed because I didn't have a remote. They referred me to my Sleep Number store and said to tell them I needed a remote for free. I called the Elk Grove store. Monique answered right away. I explained my situation and asked if I could buy a remote. Free wasn't in my thoughts because I just wanted a remote. She explained remotes are no longer available because of the chip technology and corporate shouldn't have referred me to them. Instead of ending the conversation, Monique went above and beyond her sales duties and became my advocate. She called corporate and explained my situation. She made sure the corporate employee, Rainy, understood my frustration and dilemma. Rainy is sending me a remote so I can now move on to the next step in getting my bed repaired. Thank you, Monique. Your kindness brought tears to my eyes during a low point in my life. To Sleep Number, give this woman a promotion and a raise. She represents a company I lost faith in and she redeemed my trust. I started out really liking it. But then the issues started. Connectivity issues constantly. We kept having to reconnect the bed to the internet almost daily which was a pain. Then one side of the bed (we have a queen with dual pump) started losing air. By morning, my husband's side of the bed was nearly flat. We did the troubleshooting directions and discovered that we need a new air chamber at a cost of $320. And another $200 to have it installed if you choose to not install it yourself. This is ridiculous for a bed that is 5 years old and supposedly under warranty for 15 years. I am planning to just purchase a new bed and take the sleep number to the dump. I don't want to sink more money into a bed that has already had so many problems. And the sleep number warranty is not worth the paper that it is printed on. Buyer beware!! UPDATE to their reply-we DID contact the customer service and those are the prices to make our 5 year old bed usable again. Completely unacceptable. A waste of $2100 for a bed that lasted 5 years.
