I've ordered sandwiches from here a few times from now and I can't say that I love them. When it comes to subs and sandwiches everyone has different preferences. For me it comes down to fresh breads, quality ingredients, thoughtful assembly and one of the most important for me ... balanced ratio of ingredients. Each time I've ordered, the ratio of ingredients has been what has thrown me off. The subs are large and the bread is fresh, but between the massive amounts of shredded lettuce and the thickness of the bread, the meat on my turkey sandwich gets swallowed alive to where I'm constantly opening it up to look for and re-adjust. The ingredients though do seem fresh, so it's not a matter of never trying other sandwiches in the future. I just haven't found one yet that would be worth a repeat...so it's not that there is not potential. read more

What i don't like not only about this place but others too... you NEVER KNOW WHO IS A FIRST TIMER So treating/expecting people to know what they want off hand can be a little bit pushy and makes me feel rushed. This is a small, but efficient sandwich/sub shop on Barracks Row. I got the Crunchy Boi, which seems to be their most popular and is the sub I see most often on social media. In theory, the sub should be good. It has turkey, cheese, lettuce, pickles, and mayo. Unfortunately for me though, there was barely any mayo, so my sub was extremely dry. Especially because of the chips. I obviously didn't notice until I got home and unfortunately I didn't have any mayo at home at the time, so I was stuck eating a super dry sandwich. I imagine with a proper amount of mayo, this sub would taste much better. Two stars for the team. They were very friendly and helpful. We ordered pickup today and loved it! Our group tried the french dip, sicky wicky, marisa tomei eats free, and the crunchy boi, and enjoyed every bite. Pickup was quick and easy and each sandwich was so big, stuffed with fresh ingredients. I definitely look forward to having this as quick and easy workday lunches. I had the crunchy boi which I originally thought was too much lettuce but it surprisingly isn't overpowering - you can still taste the turkey, pickle, mayo and bread in every bite. I also tried the french dip and while it was a different take on a classic sandwich it was so yummy. Highly recommend for artisanal subs made fresh and fast in the neighborhood. Variety VS Cost Coming here you literally get what you pay for. Not too many sub shops gonna give you this much arugula, The Flex cuts of meat are very good and those peppers pop you in the mouth (too much for me I forgot to exclude them), but worth $20 that depends on what your taste buds want over what your pockets can afford. Also had the Vesuvio II a great meatball sub tasted like homemade meatballs, meaty but not heavy. Lastly I got the French Dip and it was underwhelming but not bad. The roast beef tasted good but the texture was like trimming left on the board. Au Jus was blah but well together with the sub but overall taste was meh, never again! read more

Here's why. 1) Food: There are 11 subs on the menu or you can build your own. Both my friend and I ordered the "Crunchy Boi" because it comes with potato chips inside, which adds more salt and a great crunch. The soft roll, garlic mayo, and shredded lettuce make the sub even more tasty. I devoured it despite how big it is. So good! 2) Drinks: They sell canned drinks like Coca-Cola, Just Ice Tea, and Dr. Brown soda. The Black Cherry Dr. Brown hit the spot. They also have a jug of water out for free. 3) Service: Going around noon on a June Wednesday, we were served right away. The staff make your sub right before your eyes. Within minutes, our sub was ready to eat. 4) Space: It's much larger than their OG location in Dupont Circle. There are several tables inside. 5) Neighborhood: It's along Barracks Row on Capitol Hill surrounded by other restaurants, bars, murals, and even a historic theater. I do wish it had more of a kick to it- possibly the addition of pepperoni or something similar would have made it perfect. The portion and pricing was very reasonable. Long time sub/hoagie eater and this is one of my favorite sub places in DC! This location is consistently goood just like the NW location. We loveeeee the crunchy boi of course. It's so simple yet so good! I would've given 5 stars but I went out on a limb around the holidays and tried the turkey dip and it was not good at all. Visited and ordered take out from the Dupont location multiple times and it's consistently fantastic. We've had great interactions with staff each time and one time the manager went out of her way to help us when we were there with our toddler. I love that their offerings are so curated! Classics chosen well. The best part I would say though is how fresh everything is.
