    Crunchy Boi add bacon
    Meredith B.

Have had other great experiences here, but they were out of GF bread on my recent visit. Would've been fine, but they didn't know until after I paid and offered to offset with a bag of chips. A little disappointing when the bread is a 5$ up charge and I didn't want chips. So I paid $20 for a salad. Ended up good I accepted the chips because they forgot them as a topping. In the future I will ask them to check for gluten free bread before paying. I appreciate their attention to gluten allergies generally and hope this is an abnormal experience.

Wanted to see what this place was all about since it's all over my insta! While there was a really long line on a Saturday, the service was great and it moved fairly quickly. I got the famous Crunchy Boi, a turkey sandwich with chips inside for crunch. It honestly was just okay. The mayo and chips were all shoved on one side so you couldn't get them in any bites with the turkey. The vinaigrette just made it very greasy but it didn't have enough of a tart flavor. Honestly- just needed some more lemon juice and a better sauce- maybe a spicy chipotle? But a sandwich on a humid day outside ALWAYS hits, so will def be back to try something else!

    Crunchy boi and Big Dipper

The Big Dipper is thanksgiving on a sub! It comes with an au jus dipping situation that's just fabulous. The turkey is so fresh and goes perfectly with cornbread aioli and cranberry sauce. I wish they had this year round. The crunchy boi hits every time isa dc staple for a reason. Crunchy iceberg lettuce and POTATO CHIPS?! Sign me up. A crunch lovers dream. With that yummy turkey? Pro tip go with a friend and split these two. swap the dipper with the never been cheddar roast beef sandwich when it's out of season.

Omg! I don't know if it was because I was hungry, but this was one of the best cold cuts I've had in a long time. Very reminiscent of NY delis in my opinion. They don't cheat you on the meat and it's so filling. It was sooo good! Did it mention that before? Lol! Anywho, I ordered the Sixky Wicky Club it had turkey, ham and this bacon that was so good and thick! My coworkers and I will definitely choose this place again. Everyone enjoyed their orders. Customer service was great and I didn't have to wait too long. I would suggest ordering online, lunch can get pretty busy.

The place to be for a lunchtime sando! The whole place is a vibe - from the awesome staff who have great taste in music, to the plethora of Utz potato chip love, and fun sandwich offerings. Down to the merch - these guys do it the best. I still find myself being haunted by the ghosts of sandwiches past because they are just that dang good. A must stop when in DC.

    Half of my crunchy boi

We were going to get one and share but couldn't decide on one sandwich. Got the crunchy boi and thought the chips on the sub were a yummy idea. It had a little too much mayo and lettuce for my taste so will tailor this next time. Also got the French dip with juice which hubby really liked. Both of us only could eat half for lunch and finished the rest at dinner time. Having lived in the Baltimore area for 20 years, I had to get the Berger cookies. If you like fudge, you will LOVE these cookies. I was so happy they sold these by the big tray. Being my first time here, I wish they had a sign that said to take a number and get in line. We figured it out after waiting in line and watching others but a sign on the wall saying this would be nice followed by get in line and pay and wait for sandwich.

Nice sandwich's made fresh and fast. Great classic Tattoo style logo on the window. Friendly counter service. Thank you Compliments Only for a five star lunch.

Wow, really good subs but also HUGE portions! I can see how it would get busy in there so definitely recommend putting in a mobile order ahead of time. Our sandwiches were STUFFED, and we tried a fruity pebbles cannoli we watched them stuff right there!

I'd heard people hype up Compliments Only for a few years, with some accounts on TikTok referring to it as one of the best sandwich places in the city. I ordered the crunchy boi, a pretty simple $15-turkey sandwich with provolone, potato chips, tomato, lettuce, mayo and oil/vinegar. The sandwich was large and the ingredients were fine, although I wish there were more flavors. Personally, it was a little dry, so I wish there was more oil and vinegar and mayo, and adding something like Italian seasoning and/or a hot sauce would've added to the flavor profile. I did like the addition of potato chips, which added an extra layer of texture. I also got the fruity pebbles cannoli for $4. While adding a visual appeal, I actually felt that the fruity pebbles overshadowed the flavor of the cannoli in a negative way. Overall my meal was fine and definitely filling but it's hard for me to place it over Bub and Pop's or The Best Sandwich Place.

This restaurant…read morewas recommended to me by a colleague so I decided to make the walk from where I am currently staying. Let me start by saying that the atmosphere in this restaurant is one that is so welcoming the minute you arrive. I approached the hostess stand to inquire if there was bar seating available to which the polite hostesses provided a gentle hand gesture and oral direction to the bar. While walking to the bar area, I encountered what I presume to have been a server who was likely standing watch from a distance over his service area, who apologized as our paths met. (There was no reason to apologize, very polite nonetheless) I found a seat at the bar and was greeted by Paul. Paul was an exceptionally pleasant and answered all my immediate questions while preparing my initial cocktail during happy hour. We discussed the menu and he provided great insight which helped finalize my decision for the evening . In the meantime, bar manager Laura stopped by to ensure that I was taken care of to which I informed her that Paul and I spoke and he is making a beverage for me. For the food...the Caesar Salad is #1. I am a food snob and this salad HITS!! While enjoying my salad I inquired about their cast bourbon selection. The staff was very knowledgeable and provided a price list to coincide with their higher end selections. My 40 layer lasagna arrived some time in the midst of the conversation where Paul extended a courtesy sampling of a wine that he recommended that pairs nicely with my meal. It was perfect. I closed out my meal with an espresso type martini, at which time Paul and Laura further extended and offered me a sampling of one of the bourbons I was looking at. I cannot say enough about this establishment. I can't wait to go back and have already recommended via phone conversations to three people and I just left. The evening and encounter was more than just pleasantries with a customer, rather I felt as if I was the only one. If the owner or manager is reading this, Paul and Laura are 10+ and I will be back. Thank you so much for the best meal I have had in DC over the last 2 weeks. Can't wait to do it again!!!

Found it to be a bit louder than I would've liked but I think it was because of the spacing between tables. Came toward the end of the night and got seated and welcomed right away. I ordered the polpette, meatballs to start. They were quite tasty, but the sauce was a bit watery. Think that's just because the meatballs themselves were pretty juicy. Heard the focaccia was a hit, so asked for some of that. I was told they didn't have any left. Which was weird, because then another server came and asked if I wanted bread. I'm glad I said yes because the focaccia is very fresh and was a great addition to the meal. For my main, I ordered the vodka pasta, which was very flavorful and very saucy. I love a good, thick vodka sauce and that's what you'll get here. The one part of the pasta I didn't really enjoy was the chicken inside the pasta. I think I would've preferred a grilled chicken option instead of the chicken that comes in the pasta. That being said, this place is a gem. The prices are great and the portions are hearty. The pasta is thick, you're really coming here for fresh noodles and ingredients. If you want to top your meal off just right, you'll get the chocolate lava cake. Very delicious! Service was good and staff was very attentive!

It wasn't too crunchy, but crunchy enough, perfectly chewy, and the butter on it was perfectly toasted. My mouth is watering as I relive the experience. Now, keep in mind I had been on the whole 30 and hadn't had bread in over 30 days, but am so glad this is how I broke my break and carbs fast. Two folks got the Mafaldine Cacio e Pepe and really enjoyed it. After some hemming and hawing, I settled on the Rigatoni alla Vodka. It was alright... I mean, it was good enough that I finished the WHOLE plate (again... no pasta for 30 days), but I found the sauce to be missing flavor and depth as it just tasted like a simple creamy tomato sauce that had little seasoning. The standout in the Neri were the shellfish for me. Even though they were small bits, the pieces tasted fresh. In the Gnocchi, the saltiness of the prosciutto, though not overwhelming, paired well with the basil sauce. I finished a little more than half of each plate before boxing it up for a small lunch the next day. The service was great and the tall ceiling and windowed dining room provided a nice atmosphere.
