Bought a 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee through Carvana and wanted to make sure everything was in tip top shape before my grace period to return the vehicle ended. I recently purchased a car from Carvana, so after having a dealer inspect my car and recommend a correction of the alignment, I stopped by here since they are in Carvana/Silver Rock's shop network. My new car is a Bolt EV (electric). I arrived at my appointment time and they took my car back in just a few minutes.They were unable to perform the service as some items could only be performed by a dealer. The staff was honest, explained the situation, and even called Carvana/Silver Rock for me to get me the necessary referral to the dealer. So i noticed issues ( shake while idle, check engine light, fluctuation of rpm) with my car for about 2 months now, and in each month i took my car in to a different mechanic. Both dismissed my concerns and responded that there was nothing wrong BUT there was something wrong until i found Compu-Tech. They took my car in same day i called and was able to find the issues and fix them with no complaints. Darlene is very sweet and seemed to really listen to my concerns and answered any questions i had, if she didn't have the answer she was open to go find one for me quickly too. Update.....I recommended a friend here to repair her broken driver side window motor. They had it for the day and it is within walking distance of work so she gave it a go. We both walked over to pick up her car since she was my ride home that day and the window worked. But. BUT, it sound horrible. Horrible grinding noises. It just wasn't "smooth" sounding as you would expect. We both did a "hmmmmm". I later found out they were under new ownership or management. So I decided to bring my car in for an oil change. They did that and then recommended over $900 of additional repairs including engine mounts. I took my car to another mechanic and all I needed was front brakes, air filter and a recommendation for wipers. I won't be going back. read more

Finding a good mechanic is a hard thing. Especially when you're 350 miles from home. I was in Arizona on a trip when my car began to overheat within minutes of driving. Well, it was Sunday evening and everything was closed. I found myself panicked, as I was supposed to be starting my trek back to San Diego, and instead I would have to stay over another night and hope my car could be fixed in the morning. Needless to say, a cloud of gloom was hanging over me. After a quick yelp search, I found Compu-Tech and the reviews were good. So I managed to get my car to the shop and parked it with a note that I would return in the morning. I was there at 7:30am when they opened, and the shop was already in the swing of things. David greeted me when I walked in and, when I explained my plight, made sure my car was looked at immediately. He mentioned it might be an hour before they had a diagnostic. I was pleasantly surprised when 40 minutes later, the diagnostic was done, they could order the part right away and have me on the road in just a few hours. I was very much set at ease, and the gloom-cloud had lifted. As an additional perk, the waiting chairs were also comfortable. Which is nice, as I had to wait in the shop while my car was being worked fixed. There was never any nonsense of trying to sell me extra parts or services. Just a clear non-sugar-coated explanation of what needed to be fixed and how much it would be. I appreciated this greatly as I have been given the stereo-typical female treatment at other places. David was great. He was genuinely friendly, honest and helpful. While I was waiting, the owner, Sam, even came out and talked to me to see how I was doing. The service was quick, reasonably priced, and I was back on the road before noon. My car is running great and the problem was fixed completely. Compu-Tech Automotive has earned every bit of the 5-star rating. I would happily make this shop my regular shop if I didn't live 350 miles away. Thanks for the great service, guys! read more

Dishonest and terrible service. A hose was cracked (they sent photos), and once we told them that we wanted to take it elsewhere, the mechanic broke the house completely in two making the vehicle inoperable and told us we'd need to call a tow company to take it somewhere else. Too much oil was put in during oil change so vehicle was smoking for days until the oil finally burned off. Got an alternator replaced 2 1/2 years ago (warranty was 2 years but they wouldn't do anything on cost for me). Took it to a new mechanic who confirmed that a bolt was broken off off of the alternator and belt during installation, which was probably why it had to be replaced again so soon. These guys do not care about their customers or vehicles, no matter how loyal you've been. Very shady and unethical practices. Steer clear! read more

These guys are great! I took my truck in as I over torqued the nut on my transfer case. I found a transfer case in Mesa in a junk yard. These guys were gracious enough to ship the new transfer case from the scrap yard to the shop, install it and show me what they had worked on. I was at work and they even to offer to accommodate me with one of their trucks in the meantime. Great guys and a great local shop! read more

Having your car get old sucks. However, when you have the right "doctor" to take care of that car, it makes it a little better. My 2004 Acura TSX has 114,000 or so miles and has required a lot of work as of late to keep him in good shape. (Yes, I said him - his name is Archie.) I recently was told by ACURA that I needed a lot of work done on the car, including replacing the power steering pump and have an axle seal replaced. (These were the most urgent items.) Because I am a fan of second and third opinions, I took my car to two other places that confirmed the work needed to be done and got quotes from both. One of the places is my regular mechanic. After that, I sent an SOS out for another recommendation and two friends (Fred and Justin) recommended Compu-Tech. So I called and spoke with Dave at Compu-Tech. They were able to get my car in the same day to look over my car and give me a quote on how much it would cost to fix it. To my welcome surprise the quote they gave me was half the cost as the other places. I brought my car in the next day for them to do the work, and the total cost to replace the power steering pump and axle seal was even less than the quote. Instead of paying over $800 for the repair (which is what one shop wanted to charge), I paid under $400. Also, I dropped my car off at 8 AM. and the work was done by 10 AM. So far the car feels like it is handling better (the steering). My car has finally found its primary car(e) physician in Compu-Tech. Thank you Dave for your great service. I still have stuff to take care of with my car, but I assure you Compu-Tech has found a new, loyal customer. Automotive shops have never been a positive experience for me to put it mildly. Larry from Compu-Tech has completely changed my frame of mind when it comes to car repairs. I took in my 2011 Chevrolet Equinox to address my transmission problems. My extended warranty insurance had just put in a transmission less than 6 months prior and took exactly a month to make the repairs at a different shop. $1500 in a car rental alone had me beyond frustrated when faced with having to live through the nightmare for the secund time. Albeit a different shop I was complerely aware of the situation and the potential of it being an even more difficult experience. The first shop was no longer associated with my extended warranty company. I know why now. Larry had my car done in four days. The four days of which included the holiday weekend of which most businesses observed the closed government Monday . I was apprehensive when I first met Larru. He could see my nervous breakdown on the brink of explosion when he re assured me there would be no cost and fine in a reasonable time frame. He not only delivered his promise but he went to bat for me when the warranty company tried to throw in extra charges. Despite the warranty's persistence of charging me for fluid to refill my transmission. Larry told them absolutely no charge would be assessed on my behalf. Done in four days? No hidden charges? Unbelievable!! Additionally, my car has been driving like a dream. I know why and how he maintains an A rating with the BBB. Pretty hard to do in his business. I so appreciate Larry and his crew. I took my 2004 F150 in for a diagnostic test because the yellow engine light was on. It failed emissions because the idle speed was slightly low. It generated a 506 code. Compu-tech recommended they install a new throttle body and re-program the computer and that it would cost $500.00+ to fix. I said no and did some research on the internet - Ford Forum. They recommended that I buy a can of throttle body cleaner ($5.00) and take the throttle body off (remove negative battery cable,unhook air filter tube, unhook two electrical attachments and remove four bolts - all easy to get to.) and start cleaning. The whole operation took about an hour to take apart, clean and put back together. And the way you "Re-Program" the computer is to put the negative battery cable back on. I didn't mind the $90.00 diagnostic charge because it led me in the right direction. What I didn't like was the lack of discussion on alternatives to fixing the problem, I mean come on, $500.00+ to fix a low idle? Well the engine light went off and has stayed off. I passed emissions. Also, the 506 code presented a few other possibilities such as a dirty air filter or a faulty idle speed sensor. What if it just needed one or the other $22 or $100.00? I can't feel confident that they would be up front with me and discuss the best course for me and not to try and maximize their profit. read more
