Comstock Wines is our new favorite Dry Creek Winery. This brand new winery is now processing their first harvest on site, but no worries. Winemaker Chris Russi has been making wine for them offsite for a few years. We have to admit, we've followed Chris from winery to winery over the years. His impact on the product at each of his past wineries was quite remarkable and at Comstock, he's continuing to exceed expectations. The wines are truly fabulous. The new facility is positively gorgeous, the staff is helpful, informative, and friendly, and (as mentioned) the wines are fantastic. We suggest you give them a try. Over the years, we've belonged to a lot of winery "Wine Clubs". At our peak we belonged to 8. Lately we've cut back. Comstock is now one of our Three wine clubs and we're glad we joined! Not only for the wine, they also have a wide range of events: from Yoga on the lawn, "Wine Bocce, & Pizza", Blending Seminars, a "Sommeliers" Sensory Tasting Experience, and many more. read more

Excellent wine,great people and a beatiful new facility. We came. We tasted. We joined the wine club. Now here is my confession. We have followed Chris Russi, the winemaker, through a few wineries and have seen how how he treats the grapes and coaxes the best from them. Many appellations are represented from Russian River and Rockpile to Sonoma Coast, Dry Creek and Alexander Valley. I loved all the wines. The Zinfandel and Pinot Noir are my favorites. When you come for a tasting check out the very old olive trees. I have never seen any like that. read more

What a beautifully inviting place! My favorite thing to do is buy a bottle of their amazing Old Vine Zin or their Cab Sav here and sit down and admire all the beauty around me. They have a great Bocce ball court and fun games to play. The winery is relaxing and the staff is really friendly. Yoga in the vines is also a real treat!! Not to mention a brand new gorgeous hospitality suite that is only available with reservations months in advance. 5 Star kind of place read more

This a great spot to try some great wines. However, I'm dedicating this review to their staff member, Scott. My girlfriend and I were wine tasting by bike. As we were leaving Comstock, I noticed I had a flat, with no way of fixing it. Scott took the time to drive us and our bikes into town to get my tire fixed. Above and beyond the call of duty. So we've been watching the construction of this new site as we drive down Dry Creek and were excited to see balloons and a sign waver out front welcoming people in during Passport weekend. The vibe and energy was great from the moment we walked in. As construction is still underway, the tasting and food were being hosted in the barrel room. We were even more surprised to find out that this was their SECOND DAY serving their wines at the facility. We fell in love with all of their wines (Sauv Blanc, Chard, Zin and Cab) at first taste and fell in love with their staff just as quickly. Chris the winemaker, Rodney the Director of Operations, Kelly the GM and Annika from the hospitality team were all so much fun. We are proud to be wine club member #15. Local or visitor, you should definitely pop in and give them a try!! read more

Located in a beautiful place with an incredible view of the Dry Creek Valley from a large deck. Their sauvignon blanc and pinot noir wines are among the best. Currently with Covid restrictions, reservations are required and they serve food with their tastings. You will have a great wine tasting and food experience in one of the more beautiful locations in California. read more

The winery/wine/food were so good we went twice while we were visiting Dry Creek! The have a brunch by appointment that made us feel like we were at the French Laundry at a 75% discount. 5 courses and 5 wines for about $100 dollars p/p. Great way to start a day, especially if you did some day drinking the day before. During brunch we learned of a wood fired oven wine tasting. We booked it the next day and canceled our Single thread reservation. What a Chef and staff!!!! read more

Beautiful grounds, okay wine, pushy service. Came here with a friend to wine taste and picnic. We started the tasting priced at $15 or $25 depending on which flight you picked. Pours were very small. We told the lady that we were going to picnic to which she said that in order to use the tables outside we needed to buy a bottle. Found the service to be pushy and more trying to sell bottles than just have people enjoy the location and vibe. Probably won't go back as there are plenty of other options in the area with better service. read more

Great wines and beautiful grounds!

I really wanted to like this place. The grounds are beautiful. The wines were good. My review is situational and is meant for the owners to get some genuine feedback to rethink their rules. We decided to stop here before our wine club pickup party up the road. After doing a tasting with my husband, we asked to buy a glass of wine and sit outside. They didn't allow us to buy a glass... Their permit only allowed us to buy an entire bottle to drink outside. What?! This is a winery right??? Advice to management: relax, this is Sonoma!! read more

I would give this place 20 stars if I could. Our group of 4 did the wine blending seminar and it was by far the most fun and informative part of our entire 4 day trip. We started w a tour of the 100yr old vines out front and all the operation part of the facility. Then on to the blending room to taste and blend our our zinfandels. Ryan, the tasting room manager was super knowledgeable and very personable. After made our 3 different blends and had a blind tasting, it was back to the tasting room for a full tasting flight. As a zin girl, I was in heaven but even our non-zin lover in the group liked the wines. Seriously go do the blending seminar w Ryan; you will not be disappointed! read more

What an awesome vineyard! This vineyard was not on our plan for the day, and I am so glad we spontaneously stopped in - Comstock ended up being one of our favorites on our trip. The wines were absolutely fantastic! The Zinfandel and Merlot were incredibly unique. I ended up buying a bottle of the Zinfandel! The setting is gorgeous - the backyard space is the visual I have in mind when I think of wine country. I can't remember the gentleman's name who helped us (younger guy; tall; dark hair), but he was very knowledgeable about the wines. My boyfriend and I will most definitely recommend this vineyard to friends traveling to the area - and we can't wait to come back. I am even thinking of joining the wine club post-trip. read more

I was one of their first wine club members and enjoyed the wine but cancelled my wine club membership for 2 reasons: (1) they do not use organic methods for their grapes which is contributing to a health crisis for kids and workers in Sonoma, and (2) they no longer allow anyone under 21 on their premises. As a local member I want to stop by with my daughter to pick up my wine and have a quick tasting and that is no longer allowed. It seems they are moving to more of a bar type environment and that is not what I'm looking for. read more

I look forward to going back! The staff was very friendly and helpful; talkative and took the time to answer questions. They treated everyone equally that came it which was nice to see. They have a patio area that is well shaded and comfy; we stayed to have our lunch there. While we ate a few from our group went to play bocce ball. It was nice they had this added feature. The decor is appealing and modern; very attractive. The wine I liked the best was the Zin. Definitely a good place to hang out and enjoy good wine. read more

This was the BEST wine tasting experience we have ever taken part of. Tracy was so knowledgeable and made this fun and informative. We enjoyed the tour of the winery and the outdoor pizza station and playing bocce ball just added to it all. If you come to this area this is the one NOT to miss!!! read more

The tasting room manager was very rude and not welcoming. This is a big production winery with people working for them that do not care about the product they are just collecting a pay check. The wine was ok, nothing special. It was typical large production. read more

Comstock is a solid stop along the winery trail. The wines are good and the scenery excellent. I have been there a few times and have enjoyed sitting outside with a charcuterie plate. I am only giving Comstock 2 stars based on overall experience. Both times I have been I was helped by Sandi. The first time she was training another lady and the overall mood was cold and strict. Sandi didn't seem to appreciate the trainee chiming in. It happened to be my birthday so we didn't let the cold hospitality deter us from enjoying our wine. I have visited again recently (BC the scenery was nice and it's nearby to a winery that I happen to be a member of) and Sandi helped us yet again. My out of town guests were shocked to see such cold service. Hospitality makes a huge difference on your whole experience, expeicallly comparing to other nearby wineries we have been. It's hard to want to return again, buy, or join a wine club when this type of service represents your brand. read more
