This spot is either a hit or a miss - I have experienced both here. I will start by saying their Cafe de Olla is fantastic. If you don't have it with your meal, I recommend ordering a cup to go. They have both savory and sweet options, both Mexican & American options. Their chilaquiles have several options for spiciness and whether they are crispy or more soggy, though every time we have tried them, they have been SALTY. They have several options for omelets, paninis, and skillets. Their sweet options like crepes & french toast could have a better flavor & texture. This place has became one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in the area. The owner is so sweet, and welcoming. I like all the huevos in the restaurant, it's super fun! My favorite is the chilaquiles, they are crunchy and delicious. They gave many flavors , my favorite is the green and I ask for salsa habanero on the side. Service on the weekends is a tad slow because the restaurant is PACKED (we arrived at 11:30, and didn't receive food until around 12:15), but the wait was worth it! Colorful interior with beautiful mural paintings of Chickens haha. Plus a ton of people were coming in to pickup their online orders, so this place is definitely popping. Let me start by saying- you know you're in a true Mexican restaurant when you have Trios singing while your enjoying a good plate of Chilaquiles and a hot cup of Cafe de olla. The chilaquiles are delicious! 3/6 of us, ordered chilaquiles and we all loved them. Different salsas, all very good. Now, if you're going to come here, DO NOT! I repeat, DO NOT, order any cheeseburgers or anything. Trust me, I get it, this is not a burger joint, so I don't expect the best burger in Chicago, but I would love a fresh burger. I received something that had been precooked, burnt, cooked again, burnt, and then given to me. I don't know if they thought we were just going to eat it, without looking at it, but that thing was black. Worst thing ever! Ended up having to order two tacos because I just couldn't eat that. The fries were horrible. Zero taste, greasy, soggy, just nasty. I did get that removed from my check because even they knew that was just unacceptable. But chilaquiles Oh, also tired the crepes. I found me my very own favorite Mexican breakfast place near home. Prices are extremely affordable and generous portions. Loved the fact they offer a variety of salsas including "que no pique" specially for me a non-Mexican customer. It is only fair to say that this is not a breakfast place only, but you can find so many more regular dishes Parking can be a bit tricky though, if you don't find a spot in front of building. Great little spot. Very clean too. We sat down right away and were attended fast. We were offered lentejas soup and took them up on their offer. Didn't know there was an extra charge for it. Yet, it was still good. Our food was delicious. Cafe de Olla was good too. I decided to redeem the free offer from Yelp and picked the Coco drink. DELICIOUS!! You definitely need to go in and try it out. Amazing!! Will definitely be back soon to try other dishes and get a large Coco drink. I think we found our new family breakfast spot. If I had the option to zero stars I would. This place is way overpriced for the amount of food and the taste. The waitress needs experience explaining their menu and need to pay attention to guests/costumers. She wasn't focused and her mistake cost me to pay for a Panini $17, she fell to explain that chicken was extra!!! How in the hell chicken is extra? She should of explain the menu. Then I order chilaquiles, they gave tortilla chips with just a little bit of salsa. Dry chilaquiles. I had to returned them, I will not pay just to eat tortilla chips. I will never visit again. I saw a few people returning food and even someone took their receipt back as they over charged them. Everyone there need better training and costumer service. I've been ordering here through Uber Eats and sometimes the food you order doesn't taste all that great with the travel. But man, the burger I ordered was DELICIOUS! It is a hole-in-the-wall GEM! My partner decided to take me on a snowy day and it was great! It is a very cozy and friendly place with great atmosphere. The waitresses were very nice and attentive to our needs. When we sat down, there was chips and salsa which all tasted great. I ordered the Nesquik chocolate with the cookies and cream French toast. It was the best cup of chocolate I've ever tasted. It was warm, light, and frothy. The French toast was appealing to look at and even tastier. I wasn't able to finish it as it was very filling. I really wish there was a 3 1/2 star button. This place is almost great and almost undoubtedly could be and should be. The place was packed with a huge menu but you always need to try the tacos before you try anything else. If the tacos are good, of course I'll be back to try some menudo or torts or whatever. I ordered 4 tacos. 2 steak. 1 Al Pastor. 1 stuff pepper taco. The steak tacos I order with sour cream, cheese, and lettuce. The order came back with tomatoes on it. I sent it back and began eating. Unfortunately, when I opened my taco, a couple of tomatoes were still in my taco. Did they just pick off the tomato? Who knows but it just doesn't look good. But not too big of a deal. Ate my first taco and wow. Great. Absolutely wonderful taco and I'm already looking at the breakfast menu for the next visit. Here's where my big problem comes. That first taco kept the freshness of the cooked tortilla while I ate it. The problem is the other 3 tortillas began to dry up. The first taco- 5 stars. The second same taco- 3 1/2. The staff were pretty nice. In fact, there was a young girl behind the counter talking about wines and drinks with some customers and was super friendly.
