Since Los Angeles is close-by to where I live, I decided to make the trip with my fiancee to see him in person. I've contacted him prior to explain the type of diamond we were looking for and the budget I was looking at. What followed was a jewelry buying experience that far surpassed my expectations. First and foremost, I frequented many local jewelers before seeing Dan... from popular stores to smaller custom design businesses. Dan made me feel the most comfortable by far. He was very respectful to show me diamonds that were within my budget. I never, at any point, felt like I was being pushed to make any sort of purchase I was uncomfortable with. The only way I would recommend Concierge Diamonds is if you stick to popular and simple designs and your centre stone is a diamond, not a gemstone. I reckon this is why everyone else on Reddit loves him so much and have had better experiences than I have. I will say they can make a ring fairly quickly, have a good eye for diamonds and are highly responsive. In early 2018 we began the process of commissioning a cushion sapphire with double talon prongs and diamond side baguettes from Concierge Diamonds. I only met them once while on holiday in the US (wasn't living here at the time) and the rest of our correspondence was done online. They do not have expertise in sourcing good quality (in terms of cut, color, clarity etc) sapphires. You're better off buying elsewhere and bringing it to them. This sounds obvious but at the time I thought the gemstone rings on their Instagram page looked great. It took them a few months to find a sapphire that met my size and color requirements. After wearing my ring for a year and learning more about sapphires in my spare time, I feel my poor husband overpaid for a very average heated sapphire. It has a lot of extinction and isn't cut in a way to maximize sparkle - it's hard to get sparkling unless it's viewed under halogen lighting at specific angles. I also felt I didn't get any design input from them. From the beginning I was just told to share designs I liked, with no advice on where to start looking, or any recommendations on what worked for my finger size. I tried on and liked the classic Harry Winston's 3-stone ring with double talon prongs. I asked Kim (who worked with us) several times how to change the design a little to make it more personal. It took her several emails to eventually respond with, "You keep gravitating back to this design. Don't change what ain't broke." When I received the ring after dear hubs proposed I noticed several problems with it. The talon prongs are uneven lengths. One set of prongs is crooked. One or several prongs are not flat on the sapphire and clothes keep catching on it. A metal band around the sapphire has uneven width. Engraving inside of the band to mark the metal used to make the ring is crooked and some letters cut off. I overlooked these problems because I didn't want to be ring-free for a few months for repair (husband would have to bring it to the US and back). After over a year with this ring I decided I wanted a replacement and hubs kindly agreed. From advice and recommended vendors listed on PriceScope, I purchased a custom cut lab sapphire (the lapidary is brilliant and he was so helpful in picking a cut), then brought it to a different vendor in LA. This vendor was so helpful in every way Concierge Diamonds was not. They took one look at my current ring and told me there's too much metal on the ring to showcase the sapphire properly. They made recommendations on what type of rings to look at based on my stone size, finger size and length. They even told me what stores nearby to look at to get an idea of what I wanted in a ring. This experience with the new vendor has frankly opened my eyes to how poor an experience I had with Concierge Diamonds. The hubs has told me to melt down my current ring and use the metal towards the new one, and frankly I think it's a good idea. Last but not least, it's a little inconvenient that they cannot polish rings in store and have to send it out to their craftsman. Since I don't live in LA, it's difficult for me to revisit the store that often to pick it up again. They do offer to post it back to you but that will cost you money. I could definitely get it repolished somewhere closer to home but then I wouldn't be able to take advantage of Concierge Diamonds' lifetime free polishing services. read more

This review is long over due. I was introduced to Dan and his team by my friend who previous purchased a ring from him as well. Caroline initially assisted me, and she made the entire experience as easy as possible. I was able to pick the perfect diamond within my budget on my first visit, without feeling any pressure at all. He allows you to state a budget and shows you diamonds within your budget. There was no bias because he didn't state the price of each diamond that was shown. The diamonds were then evaluated and I made my decision. He will also tell you what the differences were amongst the diamonds after the decision and you can still change your mind on the diamond. Then he will design the ring through CAD drawing based on your ideas and concept of the finalized ring. However, when my ring was ready, we were under shutdown due to COVID-19 and I couldn't get my ring for a couple of months. But what I loved about Dan and his team was their regular updates which made me feel at ease. Then they reached out to me the week before they were set to re-open to set up an appointment. This is our experience and we wanted to let others know about our experience and give others a heads up on what to look for and what not to do. we was searching for a 2 carat diamond ring and found diamonddealer on reddit. He had good reviews so we contacted him and was able to setup a meeting to find a diamond for us. We didn't have much knowledge besides reading some of the 4c's online but was still a newbie. We met Dan Moran (diamonddealer) and he showed us a bunch of diamonds without showing us the reports for the diamonds. We didn't know what to ask for and didn't know about or forgot about asking for the reports and seeing if the numbers match on the diamond and on the report. He showed us 6 diamonds ranging from worst to best. We chose a diamond that was good looking to us but still don't have much clue as to what we are supposed to look for. Looking back we decided too fast on selecting a diamond. We should've have took our time and researched more on the diamonds and the reports on the diamonds. Ask people who know diamonds if the quality of the diamond is good enough for the asking price and always CHOOSE GIA certified diamond. We thought he would show us good diamonds that were good quality from the reviews on reddit. We found out later it was a EGLUSA diamond that we decided on when we looked closely at the sales order form. We thought all the diamonds he sold were GIA but we were wrong in thinking that it was. There was another diamond he showed us that was a D color which was GIA certified but that one cost 6k more. We picked up the diamond and paid him, but after looking at it again, we realized the quality was not there. We also found out by email to Paul from beyond4cs.com that these diamonds are horrible and we was making a mistake and other diamond dealers like diamonds.pro have said the same thing. EGLUSA is of lesser quality compared to GIA and their grading much more relaxed so their grading report looks better than it is so the price was inflated. "As for the GIA one, it's not well cut. It' way too deep." The appraisal estimate certificate for the EGLUSA he gave showed 2x the amount of the ring cost. We thought that he would at least sell diamonds that are of better/equal quality that some of the known online dealers would sell (James Allen, whiteflash) instead of trying to sell us lower quality diamonds that are not worth the price that was sold. By then it was too late and we tried to get a refund but he wanted 20% since he said they don't do refunds and only trade in or upgrade. That is a lot of money to us and it will take longer to get the right ring. We know we got screwed so I'm writing a review to warn others but I'm sure he will rip me apart since he knows more about diamonds and say we chose the diamond. read more

I just wanted to post a review of my experience with Dan from Concierge Diamonds. I found him on Reddit and asked him for help to buy a diamond with some specific criteria on the 4C's as well as a budget that had around 20% room from the low to the high. Not only this, I gave him a 2.5 week deadline to source the stone as well as set it the same as a photo of a pave setting I wanted. I'm an international buyer in Hong Kong, so the shipping would have to be covered as well within the deadline. After a few days he got back to me with an assortment of 6-7 stones and provided any videos I wanted, as well as his opinion on each one and answered any questions I had. We found the perfect diamond in this set - smack bang in the middle of my budget, and it was set perfectly in the exact style I wanted. I was blown away once I received the diamond (which was by the deadline I had initially set) - it was exactly as described, and in fact it looked way better in real life. Working with Dan at Concierge Diamonds was better than I could have ever hoped. I found them while trying to do my due diligence with researching diamonds and rings for an engagement ring for my now fiance. There's a ton of information on the internet, but that doesn't mean its always helpful. Dan helped me distill that information overload into something very understandable. He was also able to work around my budget and timing to get it made. After figuring out what I was looking for and style of band I wanted made he sent me images and videos of 3 stones within a week. I started to get a bit indecisive, its hard to tell what something might look like in person when you're only seeing it on a computer at 15x the size. He was able to help be land on a beautiful stone that isn't perfect in the most perfect way. Then came the time for me to take a leap. Sending over the money. No matter how much I checked around, it was still a little strange to be sending a lump sum over to someone I just met on the internet a little over a month prior. One thing that pushed me to do it was the fact that his youtube videos, which are great source of information by the way, were only hitting 200+ views. Any proficient scammer would surely at least buy several thousand video views, right? Any fear I had was washed away when I got the first images of what my rendering and ring were to look like. We love Dan. Bought an engagement ring and two wedding bands here after my first one was stolen by a piece of shit. Dan was a pleasure to work with each time. Unlike other vendors in the jewelry district that transport you to a flea market in Tehran in 1978, Dan's demeanor exemplifies what one might expect from a seller of high-priced luxury items in Los Angeles in 2017. He's patient, explains things well (but do your own research too!), and each time I was extremely pleased both with the bang for the buck, and more importantly, with the quality of our jewelry. I was referred to Concierge Diamonds through a friend and received excellent service from Dan and the team. Dan was incredibly quick and responsive. I am on the east coast so I was slightly apprehensive to decide on an eternity band without seeing it in person. A quick review of Concierge Diamonds and Dan Moran. I had an excellent experience with Dan Moran of Concierge Diamonds. Like most people I started out looking for engagement rings at mall stores and high-end stores and got an idea of what type of stone my fiancée would like, but was shocked by the prices. Using online resources and diamond search engines I had an idea of what I wanted to pay, but wasn't comfortable buying a diamond sight unseen, even if there was a magnified video. I also wanted more than the few choices available at each store. I ask friends and even traveled to see a jeweler recommended by relatives. She showed me 2 stones which I felt were overpriced. I went on Reddit to do some research and found Dan to be helpful and knowledgeable. I messaged him with what I had been offered and he confirmed that the stones I had seen were too expensive and that I could do much better. Fortunately, I was in the Southern California area and could meet with him at his office downtown. We talked by phone and he actually listened to what I wanted and what I wanted to spend. My fiancée and I met him in his busy office on a Saturday, but at no time did we feel rushed or pressured to buy. In his office he talked with us about the 4 C's and showed us how to use a loop and how to look at the diamond. Then we proceeded to compare diamonds one by one, deciding which we felt were better or had fewer imperfections. Dan asked before we started if we could talk about money in front of my fiancée (he could) and if we hesitated, he'd tell us which one cost more and if we'd pay that for a slightly better diamond. He didn't tell us the qualities of each diamond as we looked, though he would have if we had asked! He always asks if people had seen the diamond in person and I'm glad that I had brought my fiancée. I was going to settle for a "near colorless" quality, since my research had indicated that it was indistinguishable from colorless, however my fiancée was able to tell the difference and we ultimately bought a D quality stone. In fact, Dan was able to predict what stone she'd ultimately choose given her initial choices. If we hadn't seen the diamond in person, I don't think we would have been as confident in her choices. After selecting the gem, Dan told us the price, weight and color of the gem and it was all within the parameters we had discussed earlier. We then discussed settings and wedding bands. When I called him the next day with a question, Dan was happy to discuss the stone with me. The rest of the process was just as easy. I sent pictures of what we wanted, they showed me a CAD, which I approved, and a short time later I had the ring! Ultimately, working with Dan and Concierge Diamonds was a pleasure. He listened to what I wanted and my fiancée was able to pick the perfect stone. After looking through multiple diamonds, we felt extremely confident in our choice and would recommend working with Concierge Diamonds to anyone. read more

Got to custom design my ring and they were patient with me until I had the perfect design! And they teach you how to look at diamonds and what to look for. You get to compare diamonds based on what you see without looking at the price so there's less bias. Great customer service as well! read more
