I want to try everything on this menu! The prices are great and the people who work there are extremely friendly and kind. Family owned business to boot. This is a hidden gem in Cambridge!

Chinese Sausage, pickled veggies and a tea egg

You can't not smile when you go into this spot and you're certainly smiling once you leave! The service is fantastic, so warm and welcoming and the food is delicious! I sat on the lovely patio and had my mango bubble tea and their taiwanese bento box with Chinese sausage, which was all AMAZING. It's so rare to find spots that serve Chinese sausage and it was perfection. You can tell everything is made fresh to order and that the people running it are an integral part of the community just from overhearing them chat with customers, checking in on people and how they have been since they last saw them. I'm already looking forward to when I get to stop by again and try more of their tasty food and drinks!

    california roll to go

The first time we came, we were looking for a place to dine in. We left almost immediately because it had a funky odor. Not a bad odor, per se, but probably just a mix of all the odors of sushi, lasagna, ice cream, coffee, etc. that don't normally go together. But, I still wanted to give this place a try, so we ordered take out on another day. Chinese beef noodle soup: good, but not great. Had a very generic soy sauce flavor to it. Beef was tender like stewed meat. Negligible amount of vegetables. $5.75 California roll: surprisingly tasty, but we did find a small hair in it. =\ $3.50 Overall, I'd recommend it for a cheap, decent meal if you're nearby. But I wouldn't go out of my way to come here.

Taiwanese Bento Box with braised pork, dumplings

I came across Concord Ave Cafe when biking through town and opening Google maps to see what food was around... what a nice surprise! Comforting, healthy Taiwanese eats at an affordable price. Kind owners, charming interior (the interior has been updated since pictures from previous reviews).

We finally got the chance to check out Kuya Jay's Ube Cafe in Somerville, Massachusetts, and it…read moreabsolutely did not disappoint! I can honestly say it's one of the best little cafes we've ever visited. I had never tried ube before, and for anyone unfamiliar like I was, it's a purple yam. I ordered the Banana brulee Cold Foam, and it was incredibly refreshing and packed with the perfect blend of flavors, topped with fresh bananas. It was absolutely delicious! The bread completely surprised me. It was evenly baked, incredibly moist, and somehow crafted to pure perfection. The ice cream was a treat as well, but honestly, everything we tried was phenomenal. We can't wait until our next trip to Massachusetts just so we can enjoy a few more bites. I also loved the purple theme throughout the cafe, although maybe I'm a little biased since purple happens to be my birthstone! One of my favorite touches was the owners' book, where you can see pictures and learn more about their story. It really adds a personal touch to the experience. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and we would definitely recommend this place for a quick snack, dessert, or beverage. There is some temporary street parking available as well. If you're in the area, Kuya Jay's Ube Cafe is absolutely worth a visit!

The wait wasn't too bad and the menu had a good selection of ube flavored drinks and treats. The spot is located in this public space with nice lighting and some seating. The area also does cooking classes and has some areas to study. I actually got two drinks to try both and they were tasty - not amazing, but not bad given the price. Overall, I didn't mind the experience, but I have seen some troubling things online regarding permits that deter me from coming back unfortunately. Drinks tasted fine though!

Definitely one of my fav spots in Davis sq. to quietly hangout and get some work done…read more The coffee is always great, the vibes are always relaxing and lots of seating if you avoid the crazy high footfall time. The people are always smiling and although dogs are not allowed but they do let you in with your buddy for picking up orders. That's a plus for me as I mostly will order coffee for pickup when am there with my doggo. Woohoo...

I've even popped into the photobooth on a quiet day, which was a fun experience. Today I ordered ahead and found a seat near the back. I went up to the pickup counter a few minutes before the estimated pickup time and watched as people got their orders. A few minutes after my pickup time when the rush died down a little (order status was still pending), I still didn't hear my name or see my strawberry lemonade and bagel sandwich on the counter so I checked in with an employee. I gave them my name and the employee gestured to a hot latte. It obviously wasn't my order so I asked again if there was an order for Deborah and again, the employee rather impatiently insisted that the latte was mine. I had to clarify my name again before they finally took a look at a bagel that had been sitting right in front of them. They didn't even apologize and said something about someone else taking my strawberry lemonade before finally making me my drink. My drink was good but my sandwich was lukewarm. Weird interaction that left a bad taste. I've never had a strong reason to come back to Diesel but I now have a reason to stay away.
