Probably one of the best bagel sandwiches I ever had. I came here at 10AM on a Saturday whilst visiting Boston and quickly ordered. My order only took 8 mins to come out. I visited Bagelsaurus after it was recommended as one of the best places for bagels in the Boston area. A few weeks ago, I stopped by and picked up a couple of bagels to try. The blueberry bagel I had that day was absolutely superb, probably the best blueberry bagel I've ever had in Boston. A few days later, I craved that same blueberry bagel and made the trip back, which is a considerable drive for me. Upon arrival, I was told that blueberry bagels are not offered every day and are only available on Thursdays. I returned the following Thursday, but the experience was very different. I got blueberry, poppy, and a few other bagels to take home. Unfortunately, all of them were absolutely disappointing. They tasted extremely off and very different from the blueberry bagel I had previously. At home, my family ate about half of what we purchased, but none of us had any desire to finish the rest. Overall, the experience was unpleasant, and the bagels were not enjoyable at all. The blueberry bagel from my first visit looked and tasted amazing and was completely different in quality from what I received on my second visit. On top of that, the person behind the counter seemed careless with hygiene, touching the screen, bagels, and other surfaces without any apparent attention to cleanliness. I've always heard great things about this place, but one of my friends (who's from NY) said this was the worst bagel she's ever had. Having now lived in NYC myself, I had to try it out. Of course there's always a line but it moved pretty quickly, and we were even able to snag a table at the last second. To be fair, the bagel was good, if you go in with the mindset of not comparing to a NY bagel. Bagelsaurus has more crispy bagels, and it's pretty thin, while NY bagels and thick and chewy. With that in mind, if you want to compare to NY, you're not going to like this. But if you just want a bagel or breakfast sandwich, it's pretty good! My friend and I came here for breakfast on a Friday morning around 10am. While it was busy, the line wasn't that long and we were able to get a table. I'll be honest, I originally picked this place for its name. I was staying nearby, and it sounded like a good breakfast option. I didn't realize it was such a popular one! I stopped by on a Sunday morning, maybe 9am, and there was a ridiculously long line. But I had nothing better to do that early, so I stuck it out. Let me just say, that place is worth the wait. I had their Blt on a cheddar garlic bagel, and it was one of the best bagel sandwiches I've had. My only wish is that along with their shirts, they sold stickers. Great logo. Rated top bagels of Boston so we had to try! I didn't think much about the wait time but we arrived about 30min after opening and there was already a small line out the door. It didn't take too long to order but I can imagine the line gets very long by mid morning on the weekend. There were so many unique choices with some classics. We ordered a hot lox sandwich on a pretzel bagel and an everything bagel with honey rosemary cream cheese. The sandwich description intrigued us so we chose it over the cold version but after trying it, I think we'll get the cold one instead. The rosemary cream cheese leans sweet over savory but overall still tasty. The bagels, even the pretzel one, was slightly chewy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. A little tough but not bad. The eggspañola is RICH. I got it on the black olive bagel. There was the surprising and super delicious taste of lemon rind in there somewhere, not sure if it was the bagel or eggspañola stuff. Anyway this was the best bagel sandwich I've ever had. I'd describe it as an egg breakfast sandwich but elevated. The egg was a perfect runnyness for a breakfast sandwich. The feta was amazing and almost tasted like string cheese (which we love), and also almost tasted like there was feta AND mozz. The aioli added such a nice smoky spicy creaminess. There was so much going on in this sandwich and every bite was a little different which we LOVE. The bagel itself was extra gluten-y, almost the texture of sourdough, which we love! We waited about 20 minutes on a Saturday around noon, and by the time we got to the counter we got the last of the everything bagels and salt bagels. The Cold Smoked was tasty--salmon, dill, capers (not really our thing, but didn't ruin it), all came together really well. The store is small with a few bar and table seating and with the big crowds I would recommend taking to go! The ringer/customer service was super friendly and efficient. I ordered the BLT sandwich on a garlic parmesan bagel and subsituted mayo for scallion cream cheese and oh my was this one of the best bagel sandwich combos I have ever had. The garlic parmesan bagel is a weekend special but I would absolutely recommend it for those who love lots of flavor and cheese, it was crisp on the outside but still had that soft inside. The bacon was thick but still crisp and sweet, and I LOVED the oven roasted tomatoes. The overall flavor combo was fantastic and I am literally craving it as I write this. Finally got to try Bagelsaurus after wanting to check it out for sooo long! I got there around 10am on a Sunday and there was already a line formed in front of the cafe. But don't worry - it's a fast moving line! I got to order after like ten minutes max. The wait for your order isn't that long as well. Watching the bagel assembly is really satisfying - everyone knows what they are doing and very efficient! It has quite a few seats and they are most likely taken on the weekends. They definitely have a great range of bagels and cream cheese selections, and also add-ons! The cheddar garlic bagel with scallion cream cheese was chef's kiss along with smoke salmon and onions! Also got to try their spicy peppers cream cheese and I love that as well - it has a subtle kick. If I have to complain, I just wish they have a better selection of coffee. - 8.5/10 read more

Popular bagel shop but I personally didn't get the hype. There's usually a queue here on the weekends so it's definitely spot that people love but I don't think it was for me. The staff here are quick to keep the line moving and get everyone their bagels. I just stopped by to grab some bagels and go and once I was inside the shop things moved quickly. The bagels here are sourdough bagels which end up being chewier than you'd expect from a regular bagel. They have a good variety of flavors available including daily rotating specials and a bunch of cream cheese flavors. Definitely give it a try if you love sourdough though. read more

So I guess this is an unpopular opinion but I wasn't a huge fan of Bagelsaurus. I stopped by at noon on Wednesday. They were sold out of all but 4 bagel varieties (I believe it was sesame, French toast, sea salt, and plain). I was a little bummed because I really wanted to try the pretzel bagel but I also definitely don't hold it against them that the selection was limited. Obviously they're very beloved so I take that as a good sign! I ended up going with the sea salt bagel with scallion cream cheese. You order at the counter and they call out your name when it's ready. There are only 4 small tables so I waited a bit until one opened up. It seems like most people take their orders to go but I don't live nearby and the weather was too yucky to eat outside. As far as the bagel itself, I just wasn't the biggest fan. It was very chewy, which I don't usually mind I a bagel as long as it has a nice fluffy inside, but this one was bordering on being tough. I also just didn't love the sourdough flavor. As far as positives, the scallion cream cheese was good and very generously portioned. I also got a coffee, which was ok but a bit bitter for my liking. I don't think I'll be revisiting Bagelsaurus, just because I've had better bagels in the Boston area, but if I do I'll stop by earlier in the day and see if the bagels are better when they're fresher. read more

Wow I can't believe I hadn't been to Bagelsaurus after almost 5 years of living in Cambridge. My friends and I showed up around 9:15 on a Saturday morning, so unsurprisingly, there was a pretty long queue that stretched out the door. However, the queue moves very quickly, and they get your food ready in very little time, so we all got our bagels within 20ish minutes of joining the queue. I ordered the eggspañola sandwich on a cheddar garlic bagel, which was super delicious. The over-medium egg was cooked very nicely - a little bland on its own, but went really well with the feta cheese. The bagel itself was not too salty, and the garlic and cheddar were very present without being too heavy or overpowering. Also, the aioli was fantastic - possibly my favourite part of the whole sandwich haha and really tied together the excellent overall flavour profile. (Advice for cilantro-haters like me - not to worry, the green diced leaves are parsley heh) I feel like the quality was roughly commensurate with Black Sheep, although I think I liked the selection of bagel sandwiches more here. Also, I think the price point is a bit higher at Black Sheep compared to here. (But definitely both are excellent options for sure.) Anyway, super super yum and I wish I had come to try Bagelsaurus earlier!! I'll definitely be back more often whenever I'm in the area. read more

"This is what happens when you get national exposure." Indeed it is, my fellow patron, who said that to me as we were waiting in line for our breakfasts. In case you need more context to this quote, yes, this was us in line, but with a line going towards the door, and growing. Throngs of schooey college kids, to the weary commuter, to everybody in between, lining up to get their mitts on these round mounds of rebound. Thanks to Guy Fieri, and a few other national media outlets, this bagelry, already a Cambridge staple, has now taken on icon status, with everybody boasting how good the bagel is, even those not from the Boston or great New England region. Is the bagel as good as people say? Well, I just came from Montreal, and I live in New York City. Two areas that if you do a bagel incorrectly, you will lose your head. I am happy to report that the bagel not only came out fast and warm, but also tastes pretty delicious. It has the correct ratio of crunch to chew. The fillings are real fresh (the cream cheese is some of the freshest I have ever tasted), and it really leaves a good depth of flavor. Putting dill on the sandwich is a questionable call, but adds an aromatic flavor that a bagel with cream cheese and lox sorely needs. It is not a New York bagel, or a Montreal bagel. It is a bagel category all in its own. For $11, it is a great deal, even if there is nowhere inside to wait or sit. Customers are crammed up against each other and you really have to pay attention to hear when your order is ready for pickup. It is also super close to the T. For a bagel shop that received national exposure, this one deserves it. read more
