We had been with the same dentist for 15 years, the dental office was sold, and we were no longer satisfied with care of new owners. Concord dental arts was an answer to prayer. UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT!!! Dr. Shirazi has sold this business to Dr Rajwant Sangha, who I found to be exceedingly gentle, with a delightful chairside manner. I am used to metal amalgam filling material with lots of numbing & drilling, but she introduced me to a newer non-metal, non-toxic material, and I didn't even need drilling or novacain, which I found near-miraculous. She and her dental assistant were a delight! The business manager also was helpful & knowledgeable with the insurance matters. So, go see them. read more

Avoid this office at all costs!* I'm writing this review as a warning to others after a horrific experience with this dentist office. I visited them on a Sunday, in severe pain, after being referred by my insurance for emergency care. I was so thankful that they came and i said that this will be my forever dentist office. Despite their promise of emergency appointments, the staff took advantage of my vulnerable state. The dentist told me my insurance didn't cover certain procedures, demanding payment upfront. However, upon reviewing my Explanation of Benefits (EOB), I discovered they had billed my insurance for the very procedures they claimed weren't covered. To make matters worse, they used a billing code for services not performed, attempting to charge me twice. And what hurts me more that even they knew that the procedures were covered by insurance the let me stay one more night with severe pain because they told me it's out of office's hours, I should pay upfront which I choose to comeback the next day so.the insurance cover but they still charged me the same amount. Which explains that they lied to me while I was in severe pain with no other choices. When I disputed the charges, my insurance investigated and found discrepancies. Although they couldn't fully resolve the issue, I was reimbursed for one of the incorrect payments. This experience has left me feeling betrayed and disappointed. A medical professional's duty is to care for patients, not exploit them for financial gain. I urge others to be cautious and: - Verify billing codes and procedures - Check with your insurance before paying - Don't trust claims that insurance doesn't cover certain services without verifying This office prioritizes profits over patient care. went in for a consultation because my insurance referred me to these offices. i'm a new adult and went with my mother and after my visit, they told me i had 6 new cavities (which weren't there 6 months ago when i visited my previous dentist). they told me they weren't serious and could still be avoided if i brushed and flossed, but then said i would need to come back in to get them fixed tomorrow. they showed me the price for the fillings and said it would be over $2,000 if i didn't have insurance, but since i do it would only be $750 - $40 per tooth + $85 per tooth for some sensitizing thing me and my mother have never heard of before. my mother said she's suspicious and thinks i should get a second opinion which i will be doing. i came on here to read reviews about potential scamming and only found one stating this office scammed one of their patients (who was referred by insurance as well) and claiming they delete bad reviews. haven't experienced the supposed scamming myself (and i don't plan to) so i can't say my experience was good or bad. read more

My husband went to Dr. Shirazi Strasser at Concord Dental Arts in December of 2022 and was told he needed 7 crowns, amongst other procedures. On the morning of his appointment, he was very sick with what he thought was a cold. He knew with his sore throat, cough and sinus drainage, he didn't feel well enough to sit in a dentist chair for 3-4 hours, as he had been told would be needed, nor did he think the dental staff and other patients would want to be exposed to sickness. He called and canceled his appointment. Later, we both tested positive for covid, so felt sure he had made the correct decision. This all occurred in the busy month of December. Imagine our surprise two weeks later, at being charged $100 on our credit card, without our permission, for a late cancellation fee. At this point, my husband decided to find another dentist and discovered he needed 2 crowns, which were promptly and professionally taken care of. The other dentist was astounded that we were charged $100. His office waives late cancellation due to sickness. I called Dr. Shirazi Strasser's office and was instructed to send a photo of my husbands positive covid test, which I did. I have since emailed and called back twice over a 3 week period, only to be told each time that the doctor was sent our email and photo but she is too busy to respond and that their office charges for late cancellation, regardless of reason. Isn't that comforting to know the person sitting next to you in her waiting room may have covid, but will be charged $100 if they don't show up! I just filed a claim with the California Dental Board. Any dentist that wants her office and her patients exposed to sickness and covid has greed issues and is certainly not concerned about the health and welfare of her patients. I feel this is not only unethical and dishonest, but possibly illegal. We are grateful my husband found an honest and professional dentist at another location, saving us thousands of dollars and him having a mouthful of unnecessary crowns. I would advise anybody considering this dental practice and Dr. Shirazi Strasser to run the other way as fast as you can. You will be saving your mouth and your bank account in a big way. read more

Soooo I've been here a couple times already, and they do cram a ton of patients into each day, and they kind of rush you into each step and they run from patient to patient like we're an assembly line... That didn't bother me much. No warm and fuzzy feelings, but I get that from my cats, I don't necessarily need it from my dental office. However, when I was in in Aug 2022, they said my chompers require me to come in quarterly. I had the feeling they were doing this just to get extra money out of me, since I've never needed that before. However, I gave them the benefit of the doubt. *Foreshadowing* They recommended I come in in Nov 2022. I asked them to stretch it to the start of Jan, since it will be the beginning of the new calendar year and I can't afford to pay out of pocket. They agreed and scheduled me for Jan 2023 (today). I came in, and they said the cleaning isn't covered because my insurance switched from covering two visits per calendar year to covering cleanings exactly six months apart. Okay, their mistake, everyone makes mistakes. It's a wasted trip, not a big deal, I'll come back in a couple months. Nope. the cancellation fee is nearly as much as the cleaning fee, so I have to get the cleaning. I was reasonable, I explained what happened, they were not interested in my silly opinions about things like ETHICS and FAIRNESS and NOT BEING EVIL. I'm 100% sure they do this on purpose to trick patients into paying for things they don't want or need. I had a feeling last time when they recommended quarterly cleanings and I should have trusted my gut. The whole vibe of this place is not really about patient care, it seems more about getting the most money they can out of patients and insurance and maybe cleaning a tooth or two along the way. Unethical business practices make me sad, and I'm just petty enough that leaving an honest review makes me feel a tiny bit better. $80 poorer, but slightly vindicated. Please check your insurance because they have a lot of turn overs with staff. So that's an issue in itself!!! They sent me to specialists and they did not have notes or even knew where the sent me. So now I have to start over. They do not submit everything they are doing to insurance (which is skeptical) I Paid for a deep cleaning co pay 80 bucks, they told me it's 380.00. TL:DR The office stuck the wrong person's crown in my mouth, put a crappy temporary crown on me, didn't numb me up properly, and has sent me multiple bills, after the fact, with no explanation for them. I was looking for a new dentist in the Concord area and saw that Concord Dental Arts was in my network. I decided to set up a new appointment with them and at the first meeting, I was impressed by Dr Shirazi. After the first meeting, everything went downhill. About two weeks later I received a bill in the mail from the office with no explanation as to why I owed them money. It was just an invoice for 80 dollars. I called the office and they explained that it was for x-rays. I figured I'd have to pay for the X-rays since I had others at a different dentist and paid without issue. Eight months later, I booked an appointment to have a crown placed on one of my rear teeth. There was a new dentist instead of Dr Shirazi, which wasn't communicated to me, but I decided to proceed with the appointment. During the scanning of my tooth, the dental tech was shoving the entire camera in my mouth. I told her that she couldn't do that and she said he had to. I told her I understood that she needed to get a scan of my tooth but she couldn't shove the entire camera in my mouth (the camera is about the size of the bottom of an electric toothbrush and has a pliable head to prevent you from having to shove the entire camera in). Her response was that she needed to scan my tooth. The new dentist came over and did the scan without shoving the entire camera in my mouth. After that I left with a temporary crown that was very sensitive to hot and cold and painful for the next two weeks. A few days later, I got a call from the office asking me to come back in because the scan of my tooth wasn't enough for the lab to make the crown (this might have been on me for refusing to have a camera shoved into the back of my throat). I went back in had the scan done without a camera being shoved down my throat and waited for my crown. The day I went to get my permanent crown, I explained to the office and Dr that I had been in a lot of pain with the temporary crown. I was given a shot of Novocain and they went about trying to install my permanent crown though for some reason the crown did not fit on my tooth and the Dr had to do a lot of shaving of the crown. After about 15 minutes of trimming the crown the dentist realized he had been sticking SOMEONE ELSE'S CROWN in my mouth. Once they got the correct crown there I experienced constant refitting. This was made worse because, despite the Novocain, my tooth was still extremely sensitive and I flinched every time it touched. Finally, they were ready to fit the correct crown on my tooth and I nearly jumped out of the chair from pain when they sprayed the tooth with water. After actually numbing the tooth this time, the crown was installed and as far as I can tell it's fitted correctly. Two weeks after the installation of the crown I received an automated text message from their system saying I owed them north of 200 dollars. Once again, there was absolutely no explanation as to why I owed them money and considering I had paid the office upfront for the crown I was very confused. I called the office and spoke to a front desk worker who stated I owed them for a procedure that's part of a crown (I can't remember the exact name of it) that my insurance wasn't covering. The front desk worker couldn't provide me details as to why it wasn't covered and promised me that when the office manager was back in the office she would give me a call. I called my insurance company and they stated they had denied the claim because the office didn't submit any documentation for it. Fast forward two months, I had a scheduled cleaning appointment with them that I refused to confirm. At that point the office manager finally called me to explain what was going on with the billing. Unfortunately, I was working at the time and only got a voicemail. Two days later, I called back to cancel my cleaning appointment and the office manager understood and said she would resubmit their claim for the crown. Fast forward 9 months and I get a bill in the mail for $198 from the office stating they're going to turn my bill over to collections. During that 9 months I had never received an email, a phone call, or a letter asking for money. The current bill for $198 includes no details as to why I owe them money and it's a completely different dollar amount than the first time they asked for money. This is now the third time they submitted a bill with absolutely no explanation and when I go through the rejected claims in my insurance information I can't get to $198 no matter what I do. When I asked the office for clarification they asked for an $80 to settle the bill after my first visit (that I had already paid) with more possible bills to follow but couldn't give me a bill for totaling $198. read more

Just 2 weeks after Ms. Shirazi installed a tooth crown in my mouth, the crown fell out; THIS...after unusual pain and discomfort during and after the operation. Due to numerous incidents, the quality of staff and teamwork at the office did not leave me with much confidence at all even before this happened. First visit to this Concord Dental Arts office for a broken bottom denture to be repaired. Office is like a dark cave but even before I got there they sent me at least 12 forms via email to be filled out and emailed back to them and at least three texts messages to remind me of my appointment. . I did that but was thinking these forms sounded as though they were meant to protect them and not so much the patient. Receptionist wanted my charge card before I even saw the dentist, gave it to her but thought it seemed pushy to me, like they wanted to be sure they were paid first. Doctor Shirazi quoted me a price for new dentures which I asked for but of course I can't afford. I am on social security and have no dental insurance. She said she would send my broken plate to their lab and get back to me. I had to call for the results and was told the lab could not repair them due to age and wear. I understood that and simply asked for the denture to be returned to me. I got it back today when a friend picked it up for me. I opened it and the plate was in a small bag of liquid (water maybe) and the plate was now broken into three pieces rather than the two I sent to the lab. The lab name is on the bag but no phone number. I looked them up online and got a phone number for Salvio Street office, bag was from a Monument Blvd. office. The number I called had been disconnected and no forwarding information. I called Concord Dental Arts and got an out of the office message. I left a fiery (but clean language) message telling them about the broken plate and to call me back ASAP! Nothing yet but I am not going to let this go. Word of warning. Dr. Shirazi DDS of Concord Dental Arts REQUIRES that her patients get teeth X rays taken every 1.5 years instead of the customary 2 to 3 years interval. My wife was DENIED dental hygienist services because she expressed a preference to wait 2 years. Even the American Dental Association (ADA) guidelines call for teeth X rays "every two to three years". And most dentists follow these guidelines least make it mandatory. During the last 3 weeks, I left Dr. Shirazi several messages for her to call me to discuss this matter, but no response from her. MOST UNPROFESSIONAL. Dr. Shirazi told me a gold crown placed by my previous dentist needs replacing. Cost $2,400. I cannot afford the next $1000 appointment right now and advised I'd need to reschedule after the holidays. I had been a patient there for more than 10 years and only lasted that long because my needs were minimal, a couple of cleanings per year and one crown during that time. However, if this is the dentist you choose while Dr. Shirazi herself is pleasant, her staff experiences tons of turnover as they can't seem to keep their people very long. In addition, I began only booking morning appointments as they are notoriously way behind schedule wise in many cases making you wait for more than an hour or longer for your scheduled appointment without excuses or apology. If you fail to cancel your appointment within 48 hours of the scheduled date they will gladly charge $100 for not doing so. Lastly, the only major procedure I had done was a crown which to this day almost 2 years later still bothers me. They could never fix the bite in spite of trying a couple different times and the hot and cold sensitivity and resulting pain I feel is something I'm assuming I will need to live with forever so I'd be careful undergoing a major procedure at this office. read more

I got a deep cleaning with Bernice, a dental hygienist, at the Antioch location yesterday and she did a fantastic job. She helped keep me calm through a pretty intense procedure, as the plaque buildup was pretty intense. She was open and honest with me about what would happen in the procedure and wanted to only do half of my mouth at a time and finish the other half in another appointment. The head office disagreed with this and basically forced her to do a full cleaning despite her concerns. I want to be very clear that Bernice was compassionate and competent in her work. I agreed with her assessment of breaking up the deep cleaning. Concord Dental Arts forced her to proceed with the other side, and never asked me how I felt about the situation or consulted with me in any way. They also charged me 300 dollars for iodine and listed it as "antibiotic Irrigation." That's what I get for having an HMO I guess. I had called them the day before to ask about why I was being charged for the "antibiotic Irrigation" 4 times and what that added to the procedure. Kristine (the person in the office in charge of billing I think?) Could not give me a clear answer and tried to deflect my specific questions about it by claiming ignorance. She said that the Dental Hygienist (not Bernice, a different Hygienist at the Concord location) should have explained that to me. What is strange is that they did a root scaling, laser, AND Antibiotic Irrigation (iodine). Usually, with laser, you don't need to use other disinfectants other than saltwater. So I have a strong feeling that I am being taken for a ride. I think the professionals here are top-notch. I worry, however, that the owner and administration are more interested in making money than helping patients. So I will be going to another dental office to get a second opinion on the rest of my dental plan, which came out to be over 7300 dollars worth of work (before insurance). The Dentist is nice and does a good job. The hygienist must be working on commission. They charge for a cleaning but don't really do anything then tell you to come back every two months. They don't give a receipt for the work they do they say they will email it but never do. I changed dentists and was told my teeth hadn't been cleaned in a long time. Over $8000 paid up front, 5 months waiting time, constant requirements for her to come back to the office every few weeks for nothing, just to sit in the chair for them to inspect again and get a massive infection from it, and she is supposed to accept only having 3 TEETH in the front of her mouth WHERE THERE USED TO BE 4 TEETH?????? I had been going here for a while and tried a variety of procedures: crowns, cavities, Invisalign and cleaning. Do not go here! Her Teeth whitening burned my gums to where they blistered! Ouch and ouch for weeks. They were swollen for weeks. Dr Shirazi made no compensation Later, My daughter had a crown made within a year it fell off while she was eating. Well, sometimes one never has to say a word when so many others are experiencing the same results from an office staff that is greedy with unfair billing and unethical surprise charges. All things do work together for the good to those who love the Lord. First visit was charm, intro and cleaning. Second visit, arrived to be informed that I must pay hundreds of $ the day of the visit. Not sure if I had to cancel and reschedule or not. Phoned office to be sure that they inform me of my cost prior to my visit so that I will be prepared to pay. Third visit, I was prepared to pay but I experienced Dr. Sharazi accusing and arguing with a member of her staff in front of me. Very unprofessional and my heart ached for the nice lady that she was attacking. Next visit, the young lady was still working there so, I was happy and I saw Dr. Sharazi for possible Invisalign which she provided an alternative that I was excited to pursue but I moved out of the area. Thought it was the end but I received a phone call from their office at the end of December as a reminder of an upcoming appointment for a cleaning at the beginning of the year. I traveled very far for the appointment since I had moved, went to the office and was told that I had a balance due. I asked for what because I had been paying for my service the same day of my appointments. I was told that the insurance underpaid by $50. I thought that was odd and for sure I would have been advised prior to my appointment since I had previously requested to be notified in advance of any payment due before my appointment via text, phone or email. Of course, I left the office and did not proceed with the appointment. After leaving, someone from the office sent me text to inform me that I have to pay $50 for cancellation or be sent to collections. I told them via text that I didn't cancel the appointment but they did by their unethical billing practices and not listening. I've been getting dental work at this place for awhile now. The office is very nice, the people working there are great and I always feel welcomed to be there. The one-on-one experience when talking to anyone working there makes it comfortable. It feels like I am walking into a room of friends instead of random strangers. The staff there are quite informative on what needs to be done and despite some of the high prices (whether or not insurance covers it) they never hide from you how much something will cost and they never oversell you on their services. This level of upfront honesty is what I really like about this place. They will also help you as much as possible to get financing if you need it, and also they are a lenient on making multiple payments on some services if you can't cover it all at once. I was introduced to Concord Dental Arts thought a Groupon offer for in-office Zoom Whitening. The office is quite outdated and the front desk was unclear of what she wanted my to do. So I waited quite sometime and was finally taken back. I wanted to do all four sessions of the Zoom process and told this to the woman. She said we will check each time to see how i feel. She turned the button on and walked away to begin the first 15 minute session. The machine turned off after about 1 minute and I sat there worrying things weren't working properly for the next 14 minutes. She came back and told me not to worry and that with each 15 minute interval the light will stay on longer... right. The next sessions the green light stayed on for all 15 minutes. After the third session she laughed at my teeth and said it looked as if i had chicklets in my mouth. She said if i didnt stop now it would be ridiculous. I looked at my teeth and tried to argue I wanted to do another session (especially since the first was flawed). But she said I was wearing a white shirt and was going to make a mistake. So I gave up and went home. The next day I realized she was wrong and that i was very unhappy with my results. I called the office and told them my story and that i wanted to come in for another session. she said shed have the woman who did my teeth call me back... another day goes by and no call back.
