My dog was diagnosed with a cancerous tumor; a mast cell tumor at her regular veterinarians office and I was given an estimate of $3,600.00 for tumor removal. I was shocked, and saddened as I knew that I couldn't afford such a surgery and making payments was out of the question. One day I saw our former veterinarian who had closed his practice and asked him for a recommendation of a surgeon, and told him the price I was quoted. He recommended Township, told me he works there twice a week and to come in for an estimate; and I'd already known he had a reputation as being a good surgeon, so this was a divine intervention. I took GiGi in and almost fainted at the estimate, I cried and hugged the woman who handed it to me, and Dr. Bacon too! They did some pre op labs, and scheduled surgery for the following Wednesday; we're fourteen days post op as I type this review. Dr. Bacon and the staff were super kind, very loving with my girl, and got the surgery done; we came home with pain meds and an anti inflammatory, and started recovery. Within a few hours her bandage started slipping and would not stick to her, and I contacted Dr. Bacon who said it was okay to take it off. Healing was going well; she had a little "edema" that floated around from under her arm pit to her belly, then under the incision, and it was big; as they took two off, not just the one. Well, seven days post op, I took her to see our regular vet because this thing was the size and shape of a football, turned out to be a hematoma. Three days later; on a Saturday we were scheduled for suture removal (ten days post op) and the dang thing burst, blood everywhere, I was freaking out; called Dr. Bacon frantic, crying and feeling like I was in a Kill Bill film, he said I could go right now; so somehow I managed to snap out of my shock, and my sister and I took GiGi to Windsor (a good 45 to over an hour drive some days) to be checked out. Dr. Bacon was soooooooooooo calm, almost as if he'd seen things like this his entire career (ha ha imagine that, a cool, calm veterinarian) and said "oh it looks good, that's old blood" and I remember finally taking a breath. I thought my dog was bleeding to death all the way there. Old blood, duh, a hematoma ... he kept GiGi a few hours, made some incisions to drain the hematoma, found there were some dried blood clots in it and sent us home with the warning she'd bleed a while. Dr. Bacon has been INCREDIBLY kind; GiGi is nicely wrapped up and on her way to a healthier and happier life. The entire staff here has been exceptional, and my gratitude can't really be wrapped up in a Yelp review, but I hope they read this and know that I appreciate all of their patience and kindness. GiGi's surgery was not without some issues, but it was a huge incision, about nine inches, it looks brutal, and was, but she's on the road to recovery, and so am I!! :) read more

The entire team at Township are caring and helpful. I brought our older cat in with gastrointestinal problems that another vet couldn't help, they weren't as proactive as Dr Capurro. She was kind and patient and I felt she was happy to spend the time needed. I saw many good reviews about this place and I am sure it is true for them but when I came into this animal hospital I was waiting behind someone and once it was my turn the receptionist turned to the person behind me and helped them. Once there was no one he would not even look or turn my way to help me and he did know I was there. This pet hospital is really one of a kind. They helped us out during a medical emergency with our very old, difficult cat that no one else would see. Not even the emergency PetCare vets would help us due to staffing issues and our regular vet refused to help our cat without us sedating him first and he was so mean and difficult we couldn't do that either. Our cat ended up having kidney failure and there wasn't much we could do but we will be forever grateful for Township for their compassion and for seeing our cat and helping us out when we needed them most. Township has been taking care of James since he was on the Kitten plan 2 years ago. Last month he had developed an infection, which fortunately was resolved after a couple trips to check on blood and give him antibiotics. Where do I even begin to explain how wonderful this team is? We have two dogs that we go to Dr. Capurro for everything. She is simply amazing and truly cares about your pets as if they were her own. Yesterday, my dog had his nail get caught on something and completely ripped off. I called them and they were busy (all vets, hospitals, etc... are insanely busy now) and told me to try and call a few other places to see if he could be seen ASAP. I called 6 different ones and nobody would take him. They called me and told me to bring him ASAP and got him in to be looked at and also gave him all of his vaccines. I love Township! I always take my Cats to township, and not only are the staff lovely, but the care is top notch and not crazy expensive (unlike some other local Vets!) This includes routine care and some quite elaborate procedures that my old lady cat got. Staff are also very good at making sure any pharmacy prescription issues are handled promptly, which is a problem I've faced else where. 10/10 will definitely Vet there again. read more

During Covid it has been impossible to see vets! However, a lot of people adopted pets. We get how crazy it is to book an appointment lately unless it's an emergency. They are doing their best. As that comes across. Vets are way under paid and take care of our loved pets, as C much as nurses to hospitals. Township animal hospital has been wonderful. If they can't see you right away, they call and ask for photos/videos of what's wrong w/your pet. They do their best to always get back to you. Shout out to "David". He should become a vet! I would have given full stars if I met with the primary vet each time. She (Dr. Paula Capurro) is fantastic and even helped give my kitty an extra service on our way out for free. As my kitty was dying she was very supportive and gave me a blanket for her. I still wanted a second opinion though, and it turned out Dr. Capurro was right, sadly, her death was unavoidable at that time. There was a couple of times that I met with a residency vet ( or whoever isnt' there full time) and in the exam room, I wish they had recommended an xray right then and there as the first priority as we may have prevented something. I believe she died of internal bleeding, I had not been given a conclusive reason so this is my belief. read more

Highly recommend taking your fur baby here!! The staff was incredibly friendly and provided honest and educational opinions regarding my dog's health (I feel like sometimes vets can be a little pushy or use scare tactics to make you spend more). Not here!! They treated my dog quickly and even showed me how to properly apply an ear wash and ointment at home. I also appreciated their transparency. I brought my foster kittens here for their spay surgeries and other routine medical clearance activities (this is the closest hospital that partners with the rescue I foster for) and I was so pleasantly surprised with how well run this facility is, how quickly I was able to get an appointment and follow-up appointments and with the quality of the care the kitties received. Everyone there was very friendly and helpful, it's a little unfortunate that they are a bit of a drive for me because if it was a little closer I would bring all of my own animals there as well! read more

I have to start by saying I love Paula. She has treated our animals for years and has done so with compassion and professionalism. Today, however, I tangled with her associate Dr. Bovee (?) We have dealt with her in the past and were unimpressed. This time took the straw. Our cat had a problem that I thought was an abcess and she was bleeding. To their credit the staff got her in today as an emergency, That is the ONLY good thing that happened today. I was told that I would be called after the examination to let me know what the issue was. That did not happen. (They proceeded with a "wound clip and flush", for what I still don;t know). When they DID call to let me know that the cat was ready to be picked up, they did NOT call the number I left but my husband's work number (it was lucky he just happened to be in the office). He had the forsight to ask if they had caught the cat up on her vaccinations as I had discussed with the tech when I checked her in. "Oh no, we didn't know we were going to do that!" They also apparently did not know they were to trim her nails either Ias was also discussed). Mind you, I got a quote for all of this that I signed. When I got to the clinic to pick her up I was told that they could not clip her nails because she bit the Dr. They had not sedated her for the procedure because she is an old cat (none of this was discussed with me). I don't mean no anesthesia...not even any sedation. Of course she boit the Dr. who tried to mess with her nails AFTER the procedure noe without sedation. As I was telling the front desk person that I wasn't happy about the way things went, this Dr. burst out odf the back room and started verablly attacking me about my dissatisfaction... the the front lobby...infront of other people. She sarcasticlly said, "Well, I can sedate your cat and clip her nails now if you want" Nope... #1 That should have been done before the was in pain after a procedure. #2 I will not be spoken to like that, ever. I tunred to the office clerak and tolds him that I would be looking for another vet so be prepared for the records transfer request. If you choose to use ths vet, DO NOT let them stick you with Dr Bovee. read more
