My experience with Condor Airlines has been one of the most frustrating and unacceptable customer service experiences I have ever had, and I want other families traveling with infants to be aware.
My wife and I booked our international flights with Condor many months ago, before our daughter was born. After she was born, we needed to add her as a lap infant to our existing reservation, which should be a routine process for any airline.
When we first tried resolving this, Condor customer service told us we needed to go to the airport ticketing desk to add our infant to the reservation. So we went to the ticketing desk, only to be told that they could not help us and that we instead needed to call customer service.
We then called customer service again, who once again redirected us back to the ticketing desk. At this point we were literally being sent in circles -- customer service telling us to go to the airport, the airport telling us to call customer service, back and forth with nobody taking responsibility or knowing how to solve the issue.
After an incredible amount of stress and wasted time, Condor finally added our infant to the reservation moments before we were about to miss our departing flight.
Now we are facing the exact same nightmare on our return trip home.
Our return itinerary has two flight segments. Our infant has already been successfully added to the second leg operated by Alaska Airlines, but Condor has failed to add her to the first leg of the trip.
When I contacted Condor again, I was told that the "system is closed," the flight is "full," and that no more tickets can be sold. They then told me that Alaska Airlines was responsible for closing the ticket and that I needed to contact Alaska.
So I contacted Alaska Airlines, and Alaska confirmed that our infant is already properly added on their end and that the issue must be resolved by Condor.
I then contacted Condor again, only to be told the exact same thing. No one is willing to take responsibility. No one is willing to resolve the issue. No supervisor is available. Customer service repeatedly refuses to escalate the matter.
We are now in a situation where we have fully paid tickets to return home internationally, but Condor has failed to properly add our infant to the reservation, leaving us with the very real possibility that we could be stranded overseas and unable to bring our own child home with us.
I cannot believe an international airline can operate with this level of incompetence, miscommunication, and complete disregard for families traveling with young children.
At this point, Condor has shown zero accountability, zero urgency, and zero ability to resolve a problem that their own employees created.
I strongly caution families traveling with infants to think carefully before booking with Condor Airlines. read more
