The weather is finally getting a bit cooler, which means you can enjoy some fish & chips fries under the sun Went to White Rock last weekend for paddle boarding, and had some fish & chips for snacks right after Their fish and chips were made to order, it was smoking hot when I first had it, and I actually let it cooled down for 10 minutes They actually served a generous size of cods, as you can see in the photo, they are huge! Will definitely come back again

Some may be drawn to Moby Dick's just beside Coney Island, but I've eaten at both and this place definitely wins for me. Been eating here every time I've gone to White Rock ever since! The portions are huge and the fish is nicely fried with a really crunchy batter. Not to heavy and not to oily. The good thing about this place is that they fry the fish fresh for every order. I've gotten crispy and tender fish every single time. But the true winner is the tartar sauce they serve. For an extra dollar or something, you get a cup of tartar sauce, and I swear that stuff can make anything taste good. Super tangy and creamy, and fits perfectly with the fried fish. Pair that with the great ocean view and you can't go wrong. (But beware of seagulls..or you might lose a fry or two!) Been coming here for years, and will continue to!

The best Fish and Chips! With Onion Rings though

We love White Rock and Fish and Chips. If there is a place I can have Fish and Chips over and over again, it's in this place. Their fried fish is the best, just the right crunch and not too greasy. We also love their onion rings and totally addicting. There is a bit of a wait though as we went on a Sunday, but all worth it.

The batter reminds me a bit of chinese roasted pork. It was alright. The fries did not seem right for fish and chips. Very oily and a bit cripsy. Scallop tastes like scallop. Prawn was very thin. Onion rings did not have much onion flavour.

Forget about Moby Dick - if you want great, almost British style (because no matter how much a North American chipper claims to be authentic, they never are, so get your expectations at the right level when you walk in) fish and chips, come here. Generally there is lots of available seating inside, and they have a small outside seating area. Portions are HUGE, fish is awesome, chips are awesome, and the service is always fast and efficient. Definitely a fan.

Terrible. Fish was mushy, batter wasn't good. We'll stick to the Moby Dick in future. Paid too much compared to neighbouring restaurants.

Knowing it would be a busy day, I made a reservation in advance, which I'm glad I did. This restaurant had fairly good reviews, so we decided to give it a try. When we arrived, I was a little surprised. The restaurant was much more casual than I expected, and the ambiance felt a bit dated. We ordered the half dozen fresh oysters, spinach salad, seafood linguine, and the Creole chicken. Unfortunately, the oysters were disappointing. They weren't as plump or flavorful as the fresh oysters I've had in Vancouver, and they were served with tobiko, which I've never seen paired with oysters before. It wasn't a combination I enjoyed. The spinach salad was good, although I thought it was a bit overdressed. The seafood linguine was also enjoyable, with a generous amount of seafood, though I wasn't expecting it to be made with pesto sauce. It was still a tasty dish. The Creole chicken was just okay--the chicken breast was a bit dry, but the sauce helped make up for it. Overall, I felt the prices were a bit high for the quality of the food and the casual atmosphere. It may be a good option by White Rock standards, but if this restaurant were in Vancouver, I don't think it would stand out. That said, the service was excellent. Our server was genuinely friendly, attentive, and provided the best part of our dining experience.

I have been a long time customer of DHOC. We love our oysters! The highlight of the dinner was to have Adam from DHOC set up am oyster bar at the party. I cannot say enough about how fun it was to DHOC at this party. We will definitely have them back again this summer. If you are hosting a party, add oysters to menu! They are the difference between a simple party vs. a fun culinary experience for your family and friends. Our friends are still contacting us to rave about the oyster bar! Moby Dick's is obviously a busy place in the summer, being right across from the waterfront -- but…read morein January, it's a sleepy area and the restaurant is active, but not too busy. We found the food unremarkable - standard fish, standard chips, standard coleslaw, standard tartar sauce. All fried food is pretty standard, pretty greasy, but not any better or worse than many fish & chips shops. So why a 3-star rating rather than 4-stars? First, there is there menu and pricing: What is called a 1-piece fish & chips comes with 2 pieces - all identified fish comes with one extra piece. It's a gimmick, and mostly just annoying. 2nd, there is a charge for everything -- Want tartar sauce? There are three sizes, three prices. Want to substitute onion rings for the fries? Can't do it, even with an up-charge, though you can order fish and you can order onion rings, each separately, each with its own price. Coleslaw? Yes, but not instead of fries. And the coleslaw is pricey - a good sized portion, but a substantial price none-the-less. The portion sizes are reasonably large, but the incessant a-la-carte with each item with a price - one feels nickled and dimed to death. The atmosphere - ok, 1950s-ish, nothing special. The staff, friendly and attentive, but young and inexperienced. And then there was the problem with the cooking -- we got 5 pieces of fish (ordered 2 and 1, which is really 2+1 and 1+1 = 5). Four of them were pretty standard. One was undercooked - cooked on the outer edges (under the fried batter), and raw and translucent on the inside. Yes, they took that off the ticket, so I didn't have to pay for it, but biting into a piece of raw fish with the outside so hot it almost burned my mouth and the inside uncooked - not so pleasant. Moby Dick's gets good ratings from many Yelpers, but in my view, it's not worth going out of your way for.
