My wife and I had a very rude experience at your restaurant. My wife ordered the all-you-can-eat fish, and I ordered the clam chowder. As we were eating, the waitress approached us and told my wife not to share her food with me. We were surprised and insulted because we were not sharing our meals; my wife had only offered me a small piece for a taste. We often sample each other's food to enjoy a wider variety, and the waitress's comment was both rude and unappetizing. Nice tater sauce and they have all you can eat but I was taking out but will come back for AYCE as this is a good fish and chips and greasy. The AYCE is pollock so just an FYI. We dropped by for dinner one evening with our 2 year old & found out the hard way that this place is NOT family friendly. The fish (we ordered haddock) was decent enough, if a touch bland tasting. Batter wasn't too heavy and overall not too bad. Prawns & oysters were tasty. Mushy peas were a touch salty. Fries were ok & nothing to complain about. What I WOULD like to complain about however is the fact that we were told to stop feeding my 2 yr old the food we prepared for her. We were told strictly no outside food due to covid. Not even her infant milk formula. Not sure how covid can effect having our toddler eat her own baby food but sure, ok. It's not as if there's any infant or toddler friendly food on the menu as an alternative. I guess the only alternative is NOT to eat here if you have a young child who needs their own infant/toddler food. We found it most annoying that they saw us feeding her and didn't actually tell us their rules until we were about 1/3 way through the meal. Because of that, we had to rush our food down and then rush home to feed our child. If they had told to us earlier when they first saw us feeding her, then we would've left and eaten some place more family friendly, which I guess is their point. Let us order and eat some of our food first so they can make sure they get paid before they decide to kick us out. Very classy guys, very classy... read more

When this place is busy then its fabulous. Everything is so fresh and we love coming here. Service is excellent. However, when its busy AF food quality goes down a bit - not to a inedible level but the portions get smaller which is disappointing because its not cheap eats. We usually get cod and chips and its always a hit and my son loves the chicken and chips. The one thing that makes us come back time and time again is this place has the best "chip shop chips" outside of England. We have been to lots of "authentic English fish and chip" here and none of them hold a candle to this place in the chip department. The fish is comparable but the chips are top shelf. read more

My friend and I went there yesterday (May 24/21) for take out due to covid restrictions. She ordered 2 pc cod, I ordered 2 pc halibut. We also ordered the large side of onion rings. The onion rings were superb. Hot, large and crispy. The fish, a bit on the greasy side. My portions of halibut were very thin, couldn't have been any thicker than 1/4" including the batter, (a pancake would have been thicker), almost like a single portion sliced in half. That was $24.99 Hers were much thicker. I was not impressed. I have been to the Horseshoe Bay location and remembered how great the food was. I was expecting the same, but was sadly disappointed. If not for the onion rings, I would've given it 2 stars. Total bill was $59.00 Too much for too little. By the way, for all those having the "All you can eat", it's not cod fish, but pollock. The customer service was poor and there was a rancid fish smell coming from somewhere in the restaurant. the portion sizes are unreasonabley large to eat without it getting soggy and the tartar sauce seems to be just mayo and dill. To be fair, the food could be good here and I have been to many C-Lovers in the lower mainland but this was my first time at this Langley location. First impression was good overall cleanliness (fish tank in front entrance was very clean) and that is a good sign. Server greeted us and took our order for food and drinks promptly. This is where everything fell apart and hence the two star rating. When the lady came with the drinks she had everything on a tray and when she lifted a glass of water off the tray the whole tray tipped and a full glass of water landed on my upper body and legs. Luckily, I still had my rain jacket on and the water bounced off my torso and arms but my legs and crotch was soaked and so was the bench seat. The lady said sorry and gave us some paper towels but didn't help to wipe it up but instead went to get a wet floor sign and some paper to plunk down to prevent anyone from slipping. She still did nothing to help clean up the mess and that was something that we had to take care of ourselves. Next, the food arrived. I took my first bite of the shrimp and oyster...they were hot and pretty good. Lady came to ask how things were and said sorry again but my mouth was full so I just mumbled something like "food is o.k." When I cut into the halibut, I noticed it wasn't crispy but was soggy and my first bite indicated it was on the cold side. Why is the shrimp hot (way smaller and cools faster) and the fish is cold and soggy...doesn't make sense. Needless to say, I was not pleased sitting there soaking wet trying to enjoy my meal and the star of the meal being the halibut was cold and not delicious like it normally is at other C-lovers I have been to in the past. When the bill came, the lady did not offer to comp the meal or drinks so that was a disappointment considering my entire evening was ruined. I think some offer would have been nice as a courtesy, even if she would have said the teas are on the house ( how much can a couple tea bag and hot water really be ) I would have left much happier but as it ended up, I would never go back to this location again. Such poor customer appreciation. Maybe it's because they have never seen us before and thought they could get away with it....I don't know. A suggestion to the staff is to put the tray full of liquids down on the table and then serve it to the guest, this would prevent another disaster to someone else. read more

Ambiance is very cafeteria but it is what it is but at the same time for being a fish and chip joint you don't smell like deep frying which is a bonus. Went here with a group of 12 for my moms birthday dinner and we had two kids ages 7 and 11, three seniors over 72, and a my 1 year old daughter with no problems for seating as we called ahead for a reservation. Service was fast and prompt as our waitress (the tall one with the brown hair) was awesome and tended to all of us even though the place was packed. She was spot on with refills and checking up on us but not being intrusive. I would give her a 10/10 for service and 2 bonus points for her sass factor, in a good way of course as she had a good sense of humor with our deverse group of birthday goers. Fish and chips were fast and fresh with the fish being decent sizes not too big or too small and they give about six pieces to start with a good size of fries. Crisp on the outside and moist on the inside, be careful as they are super hot as they come right out of the fryer and ditto for the fries. Awesome place for family eats FYI park in the back in near the Save on Foods parking lot as parking on Fraser Highway is a bit tight at times and can be hard to get the kids out of the car seeing that it's on a major street. Stopped into this Langley establishment to see what all the fuss was about on our way back across the border. There was quite a line to get a table so initially we thought we'd made a great choice. We got seated and both got the All You Can Eat cod and chips which included soda. Servers were really nice and friendly especially considering how busy it was. Fish was just mediocre though and a bit greasy on this day. Didn't look like it had been fully cooked but tasted OK. Fries were also on the average side. Restaurant itself seems to attract blue collar types and the over-55 crowd. It's a long and narrow dining room with two sections on either end with the kitchen in the middle. Barstools at the counter where you can watch them prepare your meal right in front of you if you feel so inclined. Simple yet tasteful decor. It's a good value for what you get but just a so-so experience this time but perhaps we caught them on a bad day. We'll be back to give them another try next time we're in B.C. read more

C-lovers has very good quality food, and service. My family and I especially love the all you can eat fish and chips deal. The last time we went here one of the waitresses spilled soda onto our table, she was very apologetic and polite. Lots of the employees helped clean up the mess, and were very generous. As for the food, at least out of what I have had the fish was perfectly cooked and crispy on the outside. The fries were always hot, as was the rest of the meal, which really made the meal enjoyable. Sometimes the restaurant can be a little crowded, but it's not that big of a deal. (If it's crowded you know it's good). The place has always been clean at least every time I have been there. The scenery is quite nice, but the food takes a while to come, which is a little bit of a downside. All in all, I think this is a relatively nice place to bring a small group of people, to enjoy a well cooked meal, for a somewhat low price. read more

You always required order your portion of food in advance as it take while to arrive. So while I am eating I cannot estimate how much more fish I need. This is my all time favourite place for fish and chips. This location specifically as well. The restaurant is much larger than any other location and there's plenty of parking. Whenever I'm here I always get the spicy popcorn shrimp to start. They're a bit expensive but they're super tasty. For my main, I order the exact same thing every time, "Adult Chicken Dinner, no coleslaw, extra fries with 3 sides of plum sauce". I use to come here every Friday and the servers would remember my order. Most people order the AYCE (All You Can Eat) Fish & Chips. It's $12.99 and comes with a soft drink. Super great value. We came in for our daughter's birthday. She loved the aquariums full of fish. One of us ordered the all you can eat fish and chips - which came as 6 huge pieces! Giant portion. But by the time he got to the 3rd piece the batter had become soggy. I ordered the chicken fingers and fries. ...which came deep fried in the same batter as the fish. Completely identical to fish. I was not a fan..at all. Kids under 2 eat free though! All you can eat too. So that's something they have going for them. 4 stars for a cool child friendly environment. 3 stars for the food. This review is for the new SURREY/WHITE ROCK location on 152 St. and King George. There are some good things to say about the food. It comes hot. The prawns are nicely done, not over cooked. The staff is pleasant. The portions are generous. For families, the All-You-Can-Eat Cod & Chips is a good deal. Soda is included for $15 adult version, less for children. But - sorry, the food is not good. A fish and chips restaurant should automatically serve lemon with dinner. We asked for it and received two tiny slices (not wedges) for two persons. The fries were mushy, not crisp; they were possibly frozen and then fried. The tartar sauce comes in a squeeze bottle and is more mayo than tartar. All white with indecipherable specks. All the fried food seem fried in the same oil. The batter seems the same for everything--fish, prawns, onion rings and so on. It left a greasy film in the mouth; perhaps the oil wasn't hot enough for frying. No matter how much malt vinegar I put on the fries, I couldn't taste it or any acidity. I've heard good things about the LANGLEY franchise. The South Surrey location is newly opened and, obviously, still needs time to develop. I'll follow Yelp reviews to see when it eventually gets good. read more

Went there for my husband's birthday hadn't been in a while not worth going back. The fish was terrible some tasted like old fish other pieces taste like iodine really not very nice and a big disappointment for a special occasion. We tried the one in White Rock used to like that one as well not any more same thing so I guess this is my good-bye to C-Lovers which used to be on the top of our list now is not on it at all. read more

I was terribly disappointed in Good Friday. The places was packed. We are regulars, and it is always busy on a Friday night, but there was a longish wait. We waited beside an elderly couple , who looked to be in their 80s, perhaps 90s, and their daughter . After we were seated, I noticed they were seated near us, and then didn't think anything more. As we finished our meal, I heard a young waitress say to the elderly woman "if I see you eating again, I'll charge you for another meal". The meal in front of the elderly gentleman was barely touched, and his wife had picked a small piece of fish. My partner had said he saw her have a couple of fries. I was aghast that a waitress would address a customer in such a manner, even if a "no sharing" rule is in place. Although I've never looked for it, I don't remember seeing a "no sharing" disclaimer on the menu or posted in the restaurant. This policy is not posted on the online menu. In any case, the gentleman had to go to the lavatory, and his daughter accompanied him there. She said to her mother "help your self while we're gone". The elderly woman said "oh no, I don't want to get in trouble". I was terribly disturbed to hear that. It was obvious that the gentleman couldn't eat even half of his meal, even with his wife's help. He had almost a full plate after eating for 20-30 minutes. And, his wife had obviously not felt she could eat her own meal. I don't think it was a question of money, more, that neither could eat a full meal. And actually, they wouldn't have finished a shared meal either. It seems to me they were more concerned about wasting food than the cost of a meal, as their daughter was buying for them. I felt strongly enough about the situation that when I went to pay, I asked to speak to the owner. After explaining the situation, he said "they would have been informed when they only ordered 2 meals for 3 guests, that there was no sharing, and, just as we need to teach boundaries and rules to our children, their daughter should have reinforced to her mother that she couldn't share the food on her husband's plate." I said to him that it was obvious that we would never have a meeting of the minds , but I did ask to pay for their meal. I do know this was not a question of money, and I feel strongly that the waitress, and the owner, should show some discretion in enforcing a no sharing policy. I'm not even sure it would be legal for them to charge a customer for a meal that she didn't get? In any case, I completed a customer complaint form online, and to date, haven't had a response. Although I visit that location regularly, I don't think I'll ever go there again. The lack of respect in the treatment of that elderly couple would make me go elsewhere for my Fish and Chip fix, and, my partner felt the same way. The restaurant did a phenomenal amount of business that night. I think wanting to charge an elderly couple for an extra ~$12 meal is an outdated and disrespectful cash grab that if not illegal, should be strongly discouraged through customer comments and an impact on their patronage. read more
