I ordered a cake for my event some time ago and this place gives credence to the saying "you get what you pay for." If your budget can spare it I would recommend Oakleaf Cakes in Boston. They did a custom cake for another event I had and my guests still speak about it until this day. Light, fluffy, exquisite and fresh tasting. Impeccably decorated. The confectionately yours cake was aesthetically pleasing but the taste was just meh or dare I say, yawn. Sweet and non descript. I even went in for taste testing but ultimately I could've gotten a BJs cake for the experience. I asked for fruit filling and received buttercream instead when there is an up charge for fruit. Last but not least... I could've been spared the mediocrity if I had just gone with my prior leaning of taking my business elsewhere. The lead decorator or manager "K" had an attitude I could've done without. Just rude for no reason. Unprofessional, low budget and low class. I was on a time crunch however and they were able to accommodate. Smh. On my way out of the tasting I asked when I would receive follow up to a question that had gone unanswered and she says "oh I can't just stop what I'm doing to answer that for you, I'm busy I'm in the middle of something." Really... who asked her to stop what she was doing? I asked politely BTW just to set a timeline for myself and planning. Yikes... won't be doing repeat business. Won't be sending any referrals. I thought I didn't like frosting till I had these cupcakes! For my brother's birthday, we bought half a dozen cupcakes and sliced them into fourths so everyone could try them all. Excellent product and excellent service. We got a gender reveal cake which first and foremost was astoundingly delicious. I was surprised at how moist the cake was and how fresh the icing is - way better than any cake I've had at a bakery before. The service was even better. I had a tight turn around from when I got the ultrasound results to when I had a scheduled reveal party, and they were totally understanding and accommodating. It happened that the day I was supposed to drop off the envelope with the gender inside that it was a snow storm and everything (including the bakery) was closed. However, they still told me to come and ensured no delays. It went perfectly smoothly and I was impressed with their professionalism. I hadn't paid a down deposit and my cake wasn't that expensive. They didn't need to stay open and accommodate me in the middle of a snow storm but the fact that they did is all the more impressive. I trekked well over an hour from Boston in a snow storm and it was 100% worth the hassle. Now we have this cherished memory from that day! Still kept the sugar baby shoes on the top! read more

Everyone was RAVING about it. We got white cake with fresh sliced strawberry filling and buttercream frosting. I was looking for a good bakery to make a special cake for my son's first birthday and came across Confectionately Yours during my online research. I live in the North Shore and rarely go south of Boston but it was well worth the trek. After initially talking to the friendly staff about what we wanted and placing our order, I was able to communicate with Kristen via email over the details of the cake. Kristen was very pleasant to work with. I emailed her some pictures of cakes I liked and she was able to work off of those. On the day of my son's birthday celebration, we went to pick it up. I was shocked at how awesome the cake looked when I first laid eyes on it. It was so much better than what I imagined in my head. Kristen had made a 3D monkey holding a number 1 which was like a picture I has shown her, and she added this plastic decoration to make that monkey hold balloons in his other hand. That was such a nice touch. (FYI I saved the balloons as memorabilia to remember my baby's 1st birthday hehe.) The cake had 2 round tiers - chocolate up top and vanilla on the bottom. Everyone loved how it tasted too and my son definitely enjoyed eating it. The cake was moist and delicious. My favorite is the frosting. Their buttercream frosting is heavenly. I made the mistake of give a tiny bit of creative freedom based on their work and reviews but the decorator doesn't have an ounce of creativity so that back fired! Be very specific about what you want in every aspect. So not only did one of the cakes look like it was put together in the last minute before i arrived but the cakes its self tasted like box mixed cake!! And by the time i got home it was already lopsided and tipping over. I will never order from this company again. and would not recommend. read more

I've finally got myself to come into this place a few weeks ago with my daughter. I like the coffee (new england coffee) and the glazed donuts are very good! The price of the coffee is a bit high but it's comparable to dunkins. I ordered the bacon, egg and cheese on a croissant and wasn't impressed as the sandwich was very small for $4. The staff aren't as cheerful as I expected but that just drops 1 star. I'm looking forward in ordering a birthday cake in the near future from them as they have great reviews on the cakes. read more

I currently live out of state so all of my communication for this order was through e-mail. Kristen was responsive and was helpful in accommodating my requests. I had sent a photo of a cake I found online and was able to make changes based on how I preferred the cake to look. The cake they had made exceeded my expectation of what I ordered   Based on the number of people who had RSVP'd, Kristen was able to tell me exactly how much I needed to order. It ended up being just the right amount and we only had a few slices leftover. I ordered a layer of funfetti and a layer of chocolate. The funfetti was very good, but I thought the chocolate was excellent. Definitely one of the better chocolate cakes I've tasted. I have ordered several cakes in my lifetime, but I must say, the process has never been easier than when ordering from Confectionately Yours Bakery. I asked her for something similar to a cake/cupcake combo that I had seen on their website and the owner knew exactly what I was talking about, confirmed my event colors, theme, flavors that I wanted and the final product was so much better than I could have anticipated. She advised me on how many I actually needed based on my guest count and what size cupcake tier display I needed - which was just spot on. She added ribbon to my top cake which truly made the cake display the star of the event. Our top cake was marble cake (a huge hit) and the cupcakes were a combination of chocolate, vanilla, (standard flavors) and carrot cake (from their specialty list).
