This has to be one of the coolest spaces in Dallas. Thunderstorms and tornadoes be damned, Friday night I was not willing to miss this show, and you know what...I made the right decision. Picture a cool, intimate venue that's a throwback to the time of Harry Houdini and the height of vaudeville. This seriously impressive handcrafted venue has it all. You can check out the magic gallery and learn about the history of magic (including Dallas' cool history), check out the art, and if you are lucky enough to nab to a ticket to the shows, you will see a really cool show with throwback magic with a modern twist, burlesque, jazz, and sideshow all in one. I know it may sound cheesy, but I literally forgot how much I love magic. I was so turned off by Douche-Lords like Cris Angel, David Blane, and anyone who used too much smoke machine, that I forgot how cool it is to suspend your mind and enjoy the power of slight of hand. The venue is super intimate (50 seated and rest standing room) that you will be wowed at what's happening because they are really that good. Plus, I had no idea you could use an iPad in a magic trick. Seriously awesome. I encourage you to check this place out. Wow your friends with how hip you are and be sure to have some fun. I definitely plan to go back and enjoy myself when I can.

I can't believe this place even exists! I am a performer and discovered Confetti Eddie's last year and I have been attending shows and even had the opportunity to perform there myself once. As both a guest and on a professional level I can't recommend Eddies' enough. There's magic as soon as you walk through the door, everyone that works there is kind, attentive, and will make sure that you enjoyed your visit. Eddie brings in a range of magicians, mentalists, and musical acts (sometimes) to create a one of a kind show every time! There are always new tricks and new experiences to be had. You can tell that everyone there loves what they do and loves to entertain. This is a great place for a date or to bring family. There's a bar next door that you can visit during intermission, a pizza place, and drinks and cookies at Eddie's. If you're looking for something outside the norm and that's a more personalized and unique experience, Confetti Eddie's Magic Parlor is one of the gems of Fair Park.

What a great way to celebrate a birthday & support our local artists. Eddie Ruiz is an amazing artist & has taken his craft to another level by performing magic! This was our 2nd show. We attended a Naughty Magic Show a couple years ago! If you are looking for something exciting & different to do in Dallas The Magic Parlor will not disappoint!

I love Confetti Eddie! He is classy, and his lovely studio screams vaudeville and cabaret in such an amazing way! I'm quite young, but I'd much rather spend a night with David Jessup, Trigg, Bethany Summersizzle, Poppie, and Confetti Eddie ANY day! I enjoy the shows he puts on and I would drive 100 miles any time to come to a show. Support local acts!

This beautiful little Art Deco Theatre is comfortably small and intimate. Hubby & I attended the critically acclaimed production of, "Hedwig and The Angry Inch" Friday night, 03/07/15, to see my daughters boyfriend, who is playing in "The Angry Inch" Rock Band. WOW......the band / music is amazing! Robert Rain, as Hedwig, and Jenine Galante, as Yitzhak, both give captivating performances! The story is sad, yet some parts are unexpectedly funny, as told by Hedwig Schmidt. The theatre was Rockin', the audience was singing and really involved in this play. Again, I really like this venue and hope to see more plays / productions here! The Margo Jones / Magnolia Lounge is truly a Dallas Icon, as was Margo Jones, herself! Per Wikipedia: ***Margo Jones (December 12, 1911 - July 24, 1955) , was an influential American stage director and producer best known for launching the American regional theater movement and for introducing the theater-in-the-round concept in Dallas, Texas. In 1947, she established the first regional professional company when she opened Theatre '47 in Dallas. Of the 85 plays Jones staged during her Dallas career, 57 were new, and one-third of those new plays had a continued life on stage, television and radio. Her theater-in-the-round concept requires no stage curtain, little scenery and allows the audience to sit on three sides of the stage. That concept was used by directors in later years for such well-known shows as the original stage production of Man of La Mancha, and all plays staged at the ANTA Washington Square Theatre (demolished in the late 1960s), including Arthur Miller's autobiographical play After the Fall (1964). ~Information provided by: Wikipedia.org http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Margo_Jones *** Death of Margo Jones: On July 17th 1955, Jones invited friends over to a party. However, during the party an artist spilled red paint on the carpet, so she later brought professional cleaners to deal with it. They used carbon tetrachloride, a strong solvent commonly used in dry-cleaning processes at the time. Jones, satisfied with the cleaning, fell asleep into the night. Unfortunately, some carbon tetrachloride had been absorbed into the carpet and later evaporated, filling her home with toxic fumes. So she woke up dizzy; it was later discovered the gas had caused kidney failure. She was then found unconscious on the couch resting and she was rushed to hospital, but died 9 days later. According to her friends, she briefly regained consciousness and found out she was going to die, and made elaborate preparations for her burial, including asking her friends to dress her properly and grooming her for her funeral. She died July 26, 1955 at the age of 43, never realizing what killed her. In 1959, her theater was closed. **Information provided by : Wikipedia.org. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Margo_Jones

Carla bought us 2 tickets to see "The Dog Problem" at the Undermain Theatre, so we headed that way on a weekday night. I have passed by this building on Main Street a million times, but never knew that a this place was underneath (and it's literally underneath Main, in the basement...hence the name). When we walked into the theatre, it wasn't at all as I expected. It was a "theatre in the round", the seats surround the actual stage. It was quite small and intimate, which added an awesome feel to the play. The actors literally were right in front, to the side, and behind you throughout the program. They have a place to purchase refreshments before and during intermission. There was a nice wine selection, and they were giving out free wine samples on that night as well (free is always good!). The acting was good, the story was good (if you get a chance to see this particular play, go for it!), and the atmosphere was great! It was a positive experience, and it has convinced a theatre-avoider like me to venture out and see more plays in the future. (I will still need a lot of convincing to go to a musical) If you are looking to do something different, going to the Undermain for a date would be a nice change of pace!
