We have been having our Volvo serviced here for several months now. Unfortunately, because of the age and condition of our car, we have been there a number of times in a short time period. However frustrating our crappy little car is, we always get a fair price and straight talk from Conlon's. They never try and add on additional unnecessary services and will level with us about what is needed. They are efficient and schedule work so that turnaround is usually within one day. Both Joe Conlon and Ron, one of the managers, are really nice folks. It's a little bit of a drive for us but it's worth hauling out to Rockville for a trustworthy mechanic. read more

I dropped my car off for replacement of a CV Joint/Axel and oil/air filter change/replacement. The CV Joint/Axel replacement seems to have gone well. However, after driving my car ~10 miles I noticed a massive amount of oil on my driveway. They had not secured the oil filter and from the looks of the oil they never changed the oil! As a result of their careless mistake I had oil all over my engine compartment! Furthermore, if I had not caught this issue they could have destroyed my engine! I expect that when a mechanic commits to a service they deliver that service. When bringing this to their attention they were apologetic and cleaned the engine but offered no refund nor compensation. I will never return and would not recommend this mechanic to anyone. Be wary if you consider them as they are not thorough and do not have attention to detail. Furthermore, the way they handled this situation left a lot to be desired from a customer service perspective. I was INCREDIBLY disappointed. read more

Took my car here when power steering froze up. They told me the couplings I needed might run $500 new. But they said these things rarely go bad and so a used part would work fine. They found one for $200 plus a couple hundred for labor. Saved me money and the car works fine. Also my other car needed the wiper transmission--all that stuff under the hood--replaced. Took it to one place that gave me a repair cost of nearly $600. Took it to Conlon's the day after they repaired steering on my other car and they repaired the wiper system for $250, saving me $350. I took my 2000 Toyota Camry to Conlon's regularly for a couple of years. They changed the oil, and did great jobs on some small and not so small fixes, including replacing the front suspension. They never recommended some of the expensive but questionable services that services that many shops will pressure you to get. Then, when I mentioned at one oil change that I thought it might be due for a timing belt change soon, he took me aside and told me one of the most valuable things a mechanic can tell you: He said that I've got at least another 5000 miles on the belt, but that the rear suspension was in bad shape, and that it was reaching the age where I could expect other things to start breaking as well. His recommendation was that I'd be better off driving it for another few months, then trading it in--"Let the next guy worry about it." He was right, and I'll be back to Conlon's as soon as the warranty expires on my new car! read more

I found Conlon's in 2000 when I needed new plugs, wires, cap, and rotor for my '95 Probe GT. The Ford dealer wanted $800 for the work. Conlon's got it done for around $250. I have been with them ever since. They advise you what you need for the car and what you can do without. Their brake jobs are fantastic. read more

Their prices are fair. I compared to others around and are less. However they were pushy and there was an added 90$ charge when I went to pickup my car. I was never informed of this and it made feel uncomfortable. They took off the charge without much fuss but I won't go back. read more

Honesty is my number one concern when it comes to finding an auto service center. Simply because I know nothing about cars. If they tries to rip me off, I will get ripped off. I got a service light on. The MBW service told me the front brakes needs to be changed. Well, I was gonna be happy with this place just for the price since it's $100~550 cheaper than other 3 places I checked. Then after I left my car with them, I was told that it was just a sensor malfunctioning and my brakes are fine (more than half life left) So even though I permitted them to change the brake (brake pads, rotors and a sensor) and okayed with paying for that. They chose to be honest and did only the necessary job required done for so much less money. I don't think that is always an easy path to choose. I know this is what any auto service should do, but I doubt they all do. I'm impressed. If you want to find a service center you can trust, give this one a try. read more

The Conlon is a very low-key automotive and it just like its place---very hard to find it. However, when you find it, you will get a reward for your time. I neglected hit my car by the pole in the garage and it looked terrible and had dent too. They used only two days to fix it, while others might need a week. They asked for a fair enough price as well. GOOD SERVICE, GOOD PRICE AND GOOD PEOPLE, what else you want to ask for? I will definitely recommend the Conlon's to people. read more
