Dr. Frank Pinto examined me three times, and each time made a serious misdiagnosis. In addition, he is astonishingly nasty, once berating me for taking about two minutes to undress, saying that he has a busy schedule and that I was interfering with it. I transferred to a very competent and normal behaving PA-C, Michael Thibault, whom I recommend. Mr. Thibault now is with another dermatology group in the area. read more

Pains me to write this review because I truly think Dr, Pinto is nice but niceness and humor don't make up for the wrong diagnosis time and time again. I kept coming to Connecticut dermatology; after a bump on my face turned into a full blown rash in my nose , on my nostrils , sides of my mouth and chin. I was told I had rosacea , which was only half of the issue. I actually have severe dandruff and overgrowth of skin mites which the common diagnosis for that is "keratosis" I got so sick and my face got so messed up I ended up calling a random dermatologist who prescribed me scalp medication , two face medications and a bar soap. To say now I am better , but, you can't diagnose a skin condition by looking at a patient 10 feet across the room! The dermatologist I went to see at Westport dermatology, got up and close with my rash and actually asked me questions and sent me for bloodwork I just think, when it comes to conditions, it's important to seek other treatment options when one doctor fails to diagnose you . read more

I had the absolute worst experience there! I had Mohs surgery on my scalp for a small skin cancer and when I expressed concerns that Dr. Pinto was about to cut me in the wrong spot, I was rudely dismissed like I was in the wrong. Did not show me a mirror, just blew me off...Turns out I was, in fact, correct and had to have the surgery a second time (the same day) which left me with not one but two bald spots right at the crown of my hairline! My face and eyes swelled to the point where I could not open one eye. Hair doesn't grow through scar tissue. No apology, tried to blame me! No bedside manner...just horrible! read more

I had to go address a potential skin cancer issue, so had to find a dermatologist. This group was in-network so I made an appointment. I had the amazing fortune to be assigned to Dr. Kim. Dr Kim was so friendly and compassionate. She could tell I was nervous, and took time to explain what she was doing. She did an excellent job. I was so pleased that I recommended her to my daughter. As a new patient, I was also concerned about COVID protocols. Connecticut Dermatology Group was excellent. From start to finish I felt quite safe. read more

After a 30 s consultation, Dr Chao recommended I get regular check ups which I hadnt had in about 3 years. However, Since I had come to have a spot on my face looked at (open which she nearly immediately it was nothing to be concerned about), she refused to give me the equivalent of a yearly consultation in the same meeting. I was charged my $50 copay for my 30 second visit and asked to come back after making another appointment, so that I could take more time off of work and obviously pay $50 again. I can't wait to see how much additional out of pocket expenses I will have for this single visit. Thanks Dr. Chao in doing your part to make sure healthcare costs continue to rise while doing the bare minimum. read more

This Dermatology Group was one of the worst I've ever experienced. My autistic brother was referred to this group. He had Squamous cell carcinoma cancer on his finger. After several visits he was told that "If the next treatment is not effective then we will have to amputate your finger" where the skin cancer was. When I went in with ten questions to the next and last visit, the owner was called in immediately by an obviously nervous nurse. When I asked why my brother wasn't referred to an oncologist, he was arrogant and dismissive. Answering my question saying that he was the owner and said "We do these procedures all the time!" I was appalled by his demeanor and insensitivity. Simultaneously they were sending the records to my brother's primary care doctor for months. After this visit when I asked to have the records sent I was told that they couldn't do it. He had to come in to sign papers. After saying that they had been doing this for months she finally said she would do send them. I had to make two more calls to have them sent. Then I contacted two oncologists I know personally to help me. We now see a renowned skin oncologist, Dr. David Leffell. at Yale. He assured us that amputation was NOT remotely necessary. He was compassionate and obviously experienced. CT Dermatology Group put us through unnecessary stress and and pain. I would not recommend this unprofessional practice to anyone. Needless to say it was a disturbing experience that terrified my brother. I fear what would have happened if I was not his advocate. read more

This group has grown beyond its ability to communicate with patients. It's red tape is like dealing with a government agency. All the staff does is write a note to pass you off to someone else, or worse, a black hole. A very embarrassing and time-wasting experience. I have never felt so uncomfortable with a doctor's clinic in my life. On February 2nd, I had an appointment with Leah (unknown if that is a first or last name), PA-C. Before the scheduling, I had spoken to PCP for non-invasive surgery to remove moles on my face --- a procedure I had done twice before. The front desk affirmed she was a surgeon (she is not). During the visit, I explained my expectations of treatment to the provider. Eventually, I was handed a piece of paper with "CBT Codes" written. Dr. Leah explained that she was unsure if my Insurance (Tri-Care East) would cover the procedure. Perplexed, I inquired as to how they would not know. Dr. Leah informed me it is not CDGs policy to consult with insurance companies on what they will cover; it is the patient's responsibility. According to Dr. Leah, Doctors only have time to call some patients' insurance companies -- but not mine. I spoke with the front office and the Office Manager, Tyina, I and explained that my insurance covers the procedure. Tyina said I would need a new referral from my PCP to be seen again. She took the "CBT Codes" to make a copy, and she would ensure the correct referral was placed. Tyina called me 45 mins later while I wanted in the parking lot and told me I was "all set" for my next appointment. A few days later, I received a phone call from CDG stating that my Insurance approved the referral sent by my PCP, and I could schedule the procedure. I was informed that this would require multiple visits (maybe 4 or more). When I arrived for the procedure in the examination room, I was told my Insurance did not cover my procedure. I explained the above to the assistant of Dr. Pimento about my conversation with Tyina and that she spoke with my PCP after I did, and the referral covers the procedure. Outside the door, I could hear the conversations about me, and it sounded like I was being called a liar; that the discussion with Tyina never happened, and I was told I would be paying out of pocket and chose to come anyways (which was not true) When Dr. Pinto entered the room---I was not greeted warmly. He walked in and said, "I'm Dr. Pinto. What do you want to have done?" I found this odd for someone who would be trusted with cutting my face. I also found it strange that he would ask me this when I overheard the conversation through the door about why I was there and what I wanted to have done. After briefly looking at my face, he had me sit on the examining table and said: "This is cosmetic, and you will have to pay out of pocket." I again explained how I spoke to my Insurance, PCP, and the front officer. Neither Dr. Pinto nor his assistant said anything. They stared at me until I felt so uncomfortable that I walked to the front office to talk to the manager. I had to ask three times to speak to the person who booked my appointments. Eventually, Tyina said I was now being charged out of pocket. Tyina, without any substance to the claim, stated it was possible that I or my previous surgeon engaged in "Insurance fraud." She handed me a copy of the referral to my provider that she had filled out. She told me that she never included the codes on the referral with the codes. When I said yes, you did; you called me and said, "everything was submitted." Tyina replied. "No, I did not do that." Then she explained it was a favor to me so I could be seen a second time. I then asked why we were not speaking about this issue in private, and the reply was, "you decided to talk about it in the lobby, not me. you wanted everyone to hear about your problem". Tyina made an error and then lied about it. They refused to contact my insurance company. BL: the procedure is covered by my insurance, but they just kept lying about who I would be seeing or leaving out information to bill my insurance. I am very appalled by CDG. After leaving six messages, no one has called me back. I filed a complaint with my insurance company and the state board of health. read more

I have been a patient at CT Dermatology for over 10 years. From day 1 in the Stamford office, until the present at the Greenwich office, Sandy has been amazing!!! She truly is one of the nicest, caring and hard working people I know. She will go 1,000% to help a patient. I have experienced this myself, as well as, seen how she interacts with other patients. She speaks quietly so as to not allow others to hear conversations. I am always so happy to know that when i arrive in Greenwich, she will be there! They are the most unprofessional organization I have ever experienced. The doctors tell you one thing, the front desk another and write their notes with entirely different information. They billed me over six months ago for an appointment I DOD NOT MAKE and refuse to talk to me about it. I have emailed, left countless messages with their front desk and even went in person to get the situation handled. They have refused all methods of communication and keep sending me a bill. They tricked me by offering a free consultation for cosmetic service--after I repeatedly confirmed by phone calls and when I checked in that the visit was free, yet without notice, they magically "transitioned" it into a medical visit and charged you and the insurance company. I learned about this "transition" when I received bills from them. When I challenged, they alleged that my free visit was transitioned into a medical visit. Where was the medical ethics of informed consent to patient? Additionally, it will be PA who does the cosmetic service, not a doctor. Erin Myers, PA at CT Dermatolgy Group My family and I have been seeing Erin Myers at CDG for years. She has such a gift connecting with my children. They actually look forward to go to their dermatologist appointment! My husband is very fair and has had a few problems with suspicious moles, etc. Erin was able to detect and treat. As for me I am just a worrier and need someone who is supportive, caring and is outstanding in their field. Erin is all of that. The added bonus for me is I also see Erin for cosmetic purposes. For years I would travel to the city to see top plastic surgeons. That is no longer necessary. The only person that I will allow to do any injections is Erin. She is absolutely the most talented and gifted!! In addition if I ever need to call the office to leave Erin a message she gets back to me in minutes. Super grateful my family and I have found her! I have just lost my credit rating after they handed an overdue bill to a collection agency. I was never told my insurance company had not settled in full. No call from CDG they just sell your data to a creditor and move on. Trust me i seeking legal advise. 140 points off my credit score far more painful than my foot was. To start, I rarely write reviews...but after giving CT Dermatology in Norwalk many chances and trusting them I am fed up! Anytime I had work done, I was disappointed. Freckle removed on cheek - huge margin left and now need to get Halo laser to lighten. Botox to the tune of $1,100 just 2 months ago($700 first treatment, $400 "touch up" 2 weeks later) still had FULL MOVEMENT in forehead. Was told the muscles in my face were very strong...??? I was sick of spending $ and getting poor/no results. Decided to go to Greenwich Point Dermatology to get a second opinion on my strong face muscles/Botox not working. I'm happy to say, after ONE $940 session of Botox (12.3) I have perfect results (12.8)! Such a relief that it's not "strong facial muscles". I also made an appointment for Halo next month to solve the freckle mistake. One item to note on the differences, at Greenwich Point, I saw the MD draw Botox directly from the labeled vial VS at CT Derm, the syringes are pre-loaded. My hunch, is that they dilute hence why I'm getting zero results. Hope this helps! Don't waste your $$! read more

I have been calling for 3 weeks to make an appointment. This medical practice is now part of Schweiger Derm Group. Well, for some reason, this "Scheweiger doctor" is buying every single derm practice in the tri-state area. I have been going to different derms over the last 20 years and they all get bought out eventually by Schweiger! When the buyout occurs, all the front office problems start happening for me. My current derm in Norwalk now has inherited 20 years of old medical records from all different offices and states (NY, NJ and now CT) where I used to live, since now we are all part of one group. Instead of enhancing patient care and experience, now the front office is so CONFUSED when booking an appointment for me. They think that I am trying to book a botox appointment for a NJ office when I live in Norwalk, CT. Now, why would I travel so far away for a simple botox procedure? They said they have no records of my Norwalk CT visits which is definitely not true !! They did explain with the buyout, now they have multiple different systems and records. I am not sure why they cant merge them all. I was trying to book a cosmetic appointment for a $550 laser facial and I just got hung up on, after being short with the front desk since its been WEEKS that they are struggling to book my appointment. I will gladly go somewhere else. It is very easy to find another doctor who will take my money!! read more

Full body scan was brief. Provider/MA's manner were somewhat rushed and also quite impersonal. I am 60 yo healthy fe. - however, provider communicated as if I was elderly individual. Never had this happen as a patient in any medical practices. CDG is a factory it appears and perhaps the younger providers need some skilled retraining when dealing with patients of all ages. read more

Received service from Rhonda Q. Klein, she cut a cyst under my eye lid my eyelid became very inflamed. Went back to see her 3 times for the same reason. On the third visit after 5 weeks, she said my eye was probably inflamed all my life! She was laying! Even the nurse notice the inflammation. I went to the business next door, Dr. Spector told me it was an infection, gave me antibiotics and my eyelid get better within a day. Dr. Rhonda should have asked for help to the other doctors that work on the same group. I called manager to complaint, there is no manager! Each doctor is their own boss. Dr. Rhonda is probably good for simple dermal staff, stay away from her if you need a real doctor. read more

Stay away!! People warned me about this place and now I understand why! This was by far my worst experience at a medical facility. -They DO NOT care about the patient at all. - Skin check-ups are quick. (Only 15 min long) My skin check-up by Christina was rushed and she did not care about specific areas of concern. - Extremely difficult to speak with someone over the phone. I was not given instructions after having Mohs surgery and called the office many times. I left several voicemails and nobody had the courtesy of returning my call. Instead, days later someone sent a text message with a few post-op instructions because they were not able to fax or email. - Front desk staff are not friendly or welcoming It explains the high turnover rate. -Consultation takes 5 minutes and of course they charge for a full visit. - I encountered Dr. Gaines (not my doctor, thankfully) in the elevator as I was leaving the building and she was very rude. I politely said hello but she didn't respond. She didn't even wait for me to get out of the elevator. That just tells you the type of people that are running the place and what to expect. There are many good doctors in the area, do your research and stay away from this place. read more

Absolutely wrong. I was told that I was going to be paying $75 for a skin check. It cost me OVER $400 for the skin check. I would have gone to my doctor that takes my insurance. I am completely dissatisfied with the lack of communication between billing and medical staff. Despite the clean office and helpful people working I will not come back here because of pricing issues and lack of proper communication. I am extremely upset. read more

I went to their Stamford location and loved it! It was the first time I ever saw a dermatologist in my life and could not be happier with my choice. Dr. Kolenik was very patient, helpful and professional! I am terrified of needles but he patiently walked me through the process with a smile on his face. The receptionist were all very friendly. They acknowledged me and greeted me right when I walked through the door. There was no wait time at all. I walked in, provided them with my insurance card, filled out very little paperwork, and waited less that 5 minutes for Dr. Kolenik to see me. I was in and out of that office. I've been seeing Dr. Kolenik for several years. I used to think he was a wonderful doctor. However, as this practice moved more and more into cosmetic dermatology -- (they advertise their online gift certificates for skin care products & procedures for up to $5,000, which seems pretty mercenary!) Dr. Kolenik has been increasingly rushed! A week and a half ago, I saw him for a small wart on my pinky and a few small, flat growths on my forward. He treated them all with liquid nitrogen. At the time, he sprayed my pinky for what seemed like a long time. He also told me that some of the spots I had on my forehead were benign but that I also had a couple of squamous type growths. The day after treatment, there was a hemotoma on my pinky the size of a small blueberry. It was worrisome to say the least. The following day, I went back to see Dr. Kolenik. By then, the hemotoma was the size of a small grape. He seemed taken aback when he saw my finger. He basically told me he could drain it, but offered no reason for this very visible adverse reaction. (I decided then and there that I no longer trusted him or this practice. I did not let him lance the hemotoma; I was planning to go to another doctor.) However, I did point out that he -- Dr. Kolonik -- had missed a couple of the small, flat growths on my forehead. He concurred that he had missed them and I let him go ahead and freeze them. I found it extremely unprofessional that two days before, he was so rushed that he actually missed two of the six spots he was supposed to have treated. I also asked him about squamous cell cancer. This time, only two days later he told me that they were not squamous cells; the opposite of he had told me two days earlier. The following day, last Saturday, when the hemotoma was the size of a medium-sized strawberry, I went to see my internist in Ridgefield. He promptly sent me to the ER, where I had it lanced by a wonderful doctor. Both the internist and the ER doctor told me that my pinky had been overtreated and that warts should be removed gently and in at least two visits. Immediately after the weekend, which I spent treating the hemotoma, I called CT. DERMATOLOGY to speak with the manager. I was hastily and summarily told that "this happens all the time". In fact, this was the result of botched and hurried treatment by a practice that seems to have lost its primary identity. My attorney friend calls it a case of "mini-malpractice". If physicians live by the credo, first and foremost to "cause no harm", this was a disaster. Shame on this highly-trained doctor for obviously shirking his primary responsibility! It might also help if he consistently checked his patients' charts so he can inform them correctly as to whether they have squamous cell cancer or benign growths! STAY FAR AWAY!!!! I had an appointment at the Milford office this past week with a Physicians Assistant regarding ongoing problems with skin cancer. I spent about 5 minutes of my visit with the assistant to the Physicians Assistant (providing medical background) and then saw the Physicians Assistant for another approximately 5 minutes, but never a Dermatologist. The body scan lasted just a couple of minutes and PA claims he saw no concerns. There were a couple of areas that concerned me, so I pointed them out once again. One particular spot has been bothering me for a about a year, so he offered to biopsy it just in case. I have had 5 surgeries for skin cancer over the last few years, and even after providing this information to both of them, the appointment was quick and there was no request for a follow up exam or any information about how I would hear about the results of the biopsy. To make matters worse, when I arrived home and took off my shirt, I used a couple of mirrors to determine that he biopsied the wrong spot. I phoned the office simply to advise that it would not be necessary to send the biopsy to the lab since it was not the place that I had concerns about, and the assistant to the assistant immediately launched into legal language and stated that "he was in the room" and "they had verbal consent" and he" had pictures". Though absolutely correct that they did take a picture, I did not see the picture and cannot see the location of concern in the middle of my back without a mirror. I can only feel the raised surface to point it out. His reaction was rather concerning since I was merely pointing out that there was no reason to send the biopsy onto the lab. At the time, it was my only reason for the call and was nothing more than a courtesy in which I expected a simple "I'm sorry and I appreciate you calling". There were many other concerns that occurred throughout this appointment and in fact, far too many to describe here, but I'll leave it at this and hope that my experience is helpful to someone else that may be considering an appointment here. It was by far the worst appointment at any health care facility that I've ever had. They do a lot of damage in 10 minutes or less! read more

Ok, so after reading many reviews good/ bad, I have to post my expereince. Beware! of this factory! There is a reason more people gave 1 or 2 stars for this place. It looks like Erin Myers is well liked, but please do your homework and read the other reviews. First, I saw Dr. Nally (last year) she is the most impatient, rude, arrogant, rushed doctor I have ever met. She doesn't explain a thing or even talk to you and is maybe overworked. Do not see her. Read the other reviews on her missing a major condition- YIKES! There is a reason people do not want to see her. Funny, when you call to make an appointment they push you to her. She is awful and shouldn't be a doctor- zero bedside manny. There are many too many other GREAT doctors out there. This is a factory of doctors who work when they want and are sub par! For this year's visit- I saw Dr. Klein- she was ok, not the best. She too is rushed when she flies into the office and doesn't even introduce herself to you. I should have known, but was trying out another Dr. I wasn't impressed with her at all. I will not return. I will not be returning to this crazy place of doctors who can't even take the time to explain or talk to you. GO elsewhere! You must be in control of your own health and this factory isn't the place for compassion. read more

To write a one star review is not something I like to do, but I feel a though this is one of those times to briefly share my experience. I want to start off by saying that the medical assistant (Josh) was wonderful. He was informative, asked if I had any concerns, and he was also training a new MA during my visit. However, the same kind of care & attention cannot be said about Dr. Shahriari. While pleasant upon arriving in the room, she rushed through the appointment without asking any personal questions. Later that evening I received the notes from my appointment. I'm the note Dr. Shahriari stated that we discussed my "sun damaged skin". Nothing of the sort occurred. I was stunned to see the list of "disorders" that she wrote down, yet none of these were brought to my attention while in the exam room. Her only "diagnosis" that she haphazardly gave was that my rare flare ups from cystic acne were the result of "perimenopause". I'm only 38. My gynecologist assured me that is not the case. I will be searching for a more personable dermatologist in the future. read more

They are both PAs and I was skeptical at first but John diagnosed something no one else could figure out and for my cosmetic Christina is amazing with peels and Botox worth the money and time!
