It used to really good!!! I'm speaking about the coffee. Within the last 5 years there's been a decline. The staff know how to prepare a cup of coffee. Years ago, I could get a nice strong cup of Decaf coffee. But a couple of years ago I purchased a cup and it was so weak! Shame...but today I decided to try them again. The shop had few customers sitting in the back. A block away, Pecks had a whole lot of folks ordering. I should have taken it as a hint. Anyway, I ordered a small decaf with Vanilla and cream and I didn't taste it, just left with it. Once I got home I took a sip and realized that I wasted $3.75. Weak coffee. I did pick up a chocolate croissant that was tasty. Poured that cup down the drain! read more

Worst coffee ive ever had. I know coffee is made of coffee beans but this had a taste so reminiscent of black beans. Couldn't make it past 5 sips of pure disgust. The youngish worker here also has a very rude attitude. One great thing about this place though is the environment. Such great natural lighting and usually quiet. And the most comfortable couches. Ladies behind the counter did not seem approachable, and was rather rude overall. Aside from that, their coffee could be better. I could barely taste the espresso. Their brownie tasted fine, a little too moist but that's my personal preference. Based on my first experience and judging from everyone else's this place is nothing to write home about. I used to come here with my friend once in awhile when I used to go to college around there. The place is pretty standard; they got some tables in the back where you can sit to eat /drink what you got or just work on something on your laptop. The selection of panni and sandwichs are a bit limited but they also got some drinks and pastries available. I had their apple turnover once, it was too flaky and barely and apples. It just made a mess . I do like getting their teas here tho. Some of their teas they got they seems to bag it themselves. It seems to be high quality stuff as well. You know what I don't get -- why certain yelpers will yelp about a place that they've never been to. Like the gal below me who gave this place 3 stars even though she's "never actually set foot inside." Why do people do that? Strange and not entertaining. I lived on Myrtle back in '98 when there was nothing even remotely close to CT Muffin -- but plenty of seedy bodegas! -- and it would have been really sweet back then to sit inside a decent coffee shop and work on my '96 PowerBook. That's what CT Muffin on Myrtle is -- a decent coffee shop that is certainly a little less mass market than Starbucks but with a bigger selection than, say, Gimme Coffee. But people have gotten spoiled. Trust me, having CT Muffin on Myrtle Ave. is a blessing. read more

I often do things that really make no sense. Like, for instance, I stop and get my morning coffee at CT Muffin on the way to work nearly every single day. And I don't like their coffee!! It's got that bitter Starbucks taste thing going on that douchebags like to say is because it's the Real Deal or something, but I'm not convinced. What's wrong with me, you may ask yourself? Well, I am consistently running at least 10 minutes late for work, and the convenient location of the Muffin to my house en route to the train makes it kind of my only option. And they are faster than Choice, and I like their sippy lids. Despite the fact that I am there around 8:15am on an almost daily basis, they never seem to remember who I am or how I like my coffee. So I feel okay being honest here about how much I don't love their muffins. Dry and dense. Ick. Their bagels are bland as well. But they are really friendly there, and other people seem to go wild for their coffee and pastries and stuff. So maybe I'm just a weird picky snob. It's entirely possible. I do love the one young guy who always puts on the coffee sleeve for you and gives you napkins, even though they are self-service. It's sweet. :) Update: So it turns out that if you show up around 8:30am or later during the week, you have to wait in an enormous line of high schoolers, all getting toasted bagels and hot chocolates and other lengthy steamed beverages. Perhaps the lack of temptation stemmed from the implicit allusion to the Connecticut Wrong-Huskies (go UW!), the unimaginative name, the fugly logo and awning - just say no to cursive - a certain Midtown vibe, my lack of desire for muffins, or all of the above, but there was always an undeniable visceral and magnetic repulsion. I have seen many of these in Brooklyn and I was a bit skeptical b/c I am not a fan of chains, but I was desperate and desperate times calls for desperate measures! I really needed something quick to eat one day and stopped in Connecticut Muffin. Woops! Bad choice! This place is pretty gross, with almost no selection at 1:30 pm. The guy behind the counter, on that afternoon, was clearly not in love with his job, complaining about how he has to do everything. I got something small (bagel with pb &j) to eat and sat down to use the wifi. Glad there was wifi, but it wasn't a very good signal and it kept disappearing. Of all the Chai Tea Lattes I've had in the last year, this place holds the key to having the best Chai Tea Latte ever. Even better than Starbucks, go figure. They've got an assortment of teas, coffees, bagels, pastries, muffins, cookies and other sweet treats. I've had a love affair with Connecticut muffin since 2010, when I've had the pleasure to visit the store in Park Slope, on Prospect Park. When my office moved to Fort Green/Clinton Hill, I was excited to find this place. I went around 2pm (my usual lunch break) and had a beef chili, and a curry chicken salad on multigrain bread. The food all tastes the same, decent and edible. I was and am a fan of the scones, cookies, and cakes. Service at this location was attentive. But it can get a little noisy because of high school kids walking by and attempting to hang out in the store. But the staff managed to usher them out quietly. read more

I never really read anyone else's reviews on things because my level of care for other people's opinions are generally slim to none, unless of course I'm in desperation for a second opinion, or third. The staff at this location are attentive. They have an interesting process of handling customers on line, where they'll generally have 3 people behind the counter, and if they're free, they help the next person in line (which in my opinion makes things go a lot faster, and it's nice that they do that). I can't stand going to cafes where there are 3 people behind the counter, the line is getting long, but only one person is handling customers while the other two are barely doing anything or utilizing their time with minimal effort. The coffee could be better, but I'm not a coffee snob. I'm an iced coffee fan and their iced coffee, black, with some sugar is OK. It has a slight burnt taste to it, but it's not horrible. Their bagels are good in my opinion, even in the mid afternoon. They're still soft and tasty. Perhaps I'll review the next time I'm in a rush to go somewhere. Since everyone is in a rush, if they don't get prompt white glove service, the review and ratings go to hell since people can't wake up 30 minutes early. read more

I love the idea -- muffins! -- how fun and whimsical and cute. So if you're going to be a place devoted to something fun and homemade and yummy, you should choose an interior scheme that matches your product. And there are moments of cuteness- the display case is charming enough, and the signs describing the muffins are cute. But generally, Connecticut Muffin feels a bit like eating in a deli, or like a cafeteria, it's a place for fueling up before heading out to do something else. Why not some good soft music? Some better chairs? Some wall hangings? Why not fix that weird entrance where you fall into the queue? Why not a more aesthetically pleasing sign? With a few tweaks, it would feel a bit less like a place to grab a muffin and run, and a bit more like a place for lingering over a latte. The muffins , by the way, were absolutely fine- we had a whole wheat banana (good) and a pumpkin (too many raisins! In fact, I strongly believe that if you are going to put raisins in something, you should tell people so that those anti-raisin folks, such as myself, can order something else instead). I would love to go back in six months and find that this place has become a cute, nicely decorated, comfortable muffin-serving, and coffee-sipping cafe. I have my fingers crossed. read more

This spot is ok. I usually go for breakfast. I always order blueberry Bagle. it's very good. The only thing that I find a little annoying is that when you ask to put just little cream cheese they still add a big chunk. I always find my self redoing it.
