Where to start? Went there on a Friday mid morning for breakfast. We were 1 of 2 other tables that were seated. The "decor" is 100% a mish mash of thoughts and none of them are cohesive. Things half painted, if it was painted at all. Tv's on the wall, half of them on. The cooking happens behind the counter and can be seen by the whole restaurant. The young kid that was cooking did not wear gloves and was not real verse in prepping multiple orders at one time. Very slow We had sat there for 10 minutes before anyone even acknowledged we were there. They finally took our order and I watched the cook that was switched out with an older woman cook our order with no gloves on. She rinsed her hands with water, but no soap. As she was cracking the eggs, I saw her put her finger in the bowl the egg was cracked into to get out some egg shells out of the egg. YUCK! There was a dog in the restaurant. It was not a service dog, it kept on barking. No sense of urgency, customer service, or concern for anyone else's experience. This is now called Kastner's Cafe and Catering. I would NEVER recommend this restaurant let alone this Catering company. The food was marginal at best and service was poor. Just because you have a restaurant and produce food does not make you a restaurant that people want to go to. They need to fire from the top down and start again. read more

Nothing is more comforting than having a quick lunch at a relaxed, neighborhood restaurant steeped in local history. Ketter's Restaurant is just such a place. Most of us have come to expect average food at a local diner. Ketter's food is not above average -- it's excellent. The reason for this is attention to detail. Every part of the meal is given special attention: a perfectly grilled bun, the right amount of lettuce and tomato, expertly cooked meat (in my case steak). They don't pile fries on the plate. Instead, it's just the right amount, cooked to perfection with the right amount of crunch covering a fluffy inner tater. Ketter's gives you twice what the others do in terms of excellence at half the price (or so). I love the ambience of this place. It's clean, with large booths. The laminated tables contain decoupage ads for local businesses. The wall mounted TVs are tuned to horseracing and Keno, courtesy of the Pennsylvania Lottery (how quaintly, quintessentially Jeannette). The creamers, jellies, and salt are displayed on the table in adorable mini-fry baskets. The service is welcoming and friendly. The food arrives in a reasonable amount of time and is served hot. In fact, if your food is up and your server is busy elsewhere, somebody else brings it to you, which, to me, is another consideration of detail that help to make the overall dining experience quite pleasant. read more

Do not bother going here, because they don't want your money. It was slow this afternoon when I sat at the filthy counter. I've been in here the day prior and had a very good experience, but today the atmosphere was completely off, and it was a different crew of people. I sat at the counter for a couple minutes while no less than three different people looked at me, stared at me, but made no efforts to engage or even offer a menu. After she took out some food and some drinks and talked to some other customers, a waitress came over and grudgingly brought me a menu. I did not realize that it would take upwards of a half an hour the final straw for me was when another customer came in who appeared to be a regular was promptly waited upon, and got his side salad almost immediately. Tellingly, I asked the waitress if I could just cancel my order since no food was even made or brought out, she very very graciously said absolutely you can cancel your meal. I've never had that happen at a restaurant before. I asked her if they just didn't make it or if there was an issue and she said that she had asked about the food and they told her they were going to get my cup of soup ready... Seemed busy, waited for a table. Seated within 5 minutes. It goes down hill from here. Ordered coffee and hot tea with honey and the waitress wandered away. After several long minutes one of the workers looks at our table and yells across the smell of grease domain, are they waited on..meanwhile the closed menus on the table might have given a clue. We were approached and the staff person took the menus even though we said we hadnt ordered. Finally someone came over, i asked for honey. She goes into the designated " kitchen " space , grabs a barely there bottle of honey , opens it, brings it to the table holding it upside down and says this is all we had, she still hadn't taken our order. The stale smell of bacon grease was too much. We threw a $5 on the table and left. We' ll pass on this place. read more

Great grandma chose this restaurant based on the convenience of the handicap parking space in the front...which ended up being one of the too 2 or 3 highlights of the experience. Meh, meh, meh. From the deep Deep Deep fried menu we opted for the following: Wedding soup (cold-had to be reheated) - served classic style with spinach. Pierogies with onions swimming in a sea of buttah. I know that these all go hand in hand but this was an exceptional amount of butter. White pizza: the best selection out of our lunch (for those who have never had white pizza, it consists of garlic, mozzarella, tomatoes and sometimes a dose of pesto. We decided to give this place a try. Service was not good. Food didn't come the way it was ordered. Food taste was mediocre. When we finished eating and had food in to go boxes, over 10 minutes went by before we got our bill. Staff didn't seem to care about our satisfaction. We won't be back. Plenty of other places to try that will want our business. read more

Food was okay but the eggs came back a little undercooked and the cook (older white haired man), tried to blame it on the cheese? Making it gloopy? Lol. Like no man you put the cheese on top early and didn't want to make your grill all cheesy so you took the eggs off early instead of flipping it.... That's what happened. A true hidden gem not far off of Route 30. We recently found this amazing diner, and have since eaten breakfast multiple times. Today we went for lunch, and it was equally as great! Typical diner fare with an extensive menu that includes wrap options and decent salads (but who goes to a diner for healthy food lol). Service is SO friendly, we were treated like regulars our first time there. Quick and efficient, even when there's only one server. Keep up the great work! read more

This is the type of place that was probably here before I was born, where the waitress can take your order, pour coffee for the table behind you and welcome the next patron walking through the door all with a smile and happy tone. This is a great lunch place, they have at least 10 lunch specials for $6.75 and that includes a drink. These types of places are the Gems left from a time long lost. read more

Used Ketter's restaurant to cater our family reunion on 10/14/18. First of all, everything delivered was exactly as we ordered. NO MISTAKES! The food was enjoyed by all and everyone was complimentary of the taste, quantity and quality. We had their Italian roast beef, country fried chicken, perogies, pasta salad, broccoli salad, and all the fixings that came with it. NOBODY left hungry. And, the leftovers were packaged up by Terri for take home. Terri (owner) is a joy to work with! Very accommodating and just a very nice person. If the need arises I will surely use Ketter's catering again. The locals ( I'm from out of town) will, I hope. remember Ketter's if they need a caterer. Thank you Ketter's for helping to make our reunion a success! read more

Excellent service and food prices are right on point with typical home cooked meals can't say enough about the breakfast there probably one of my favorite places in the area to get it. The hot meatloaf and mashed potatoes is the best around you're not going to get better meatloaf than ketters. Also excellent atmosphere. DH and I have our "food bucket list" - the places we want to try and we work our way down the list slowly but surely. One sublist is the Sunday breakfast list. We have found some good places, some okay places - but had never really hit a bad breakfast place until today. The attraction to Ketter's is the fact that you can order ala carte. I am not a fan of gargantuan breakfast platters so this appealed to me. Ketter's isn't much to look at - it is an old fashioned restaurant (with emphasis on the "old") that still puts grains of rice in the salt shakers to keep it from clumping. DH and I ordered the same exact breakfast (the locomotive - 2 eggs, 2 pancakes, and sausage) and DH added a side of home fries. The platters were under $5 apiece but oddly the potatoes were over $2. Which would be fantastic prices if the food were good. First note to the cook: Over easy eggs mean exactly that - don't break the yolks, don't cook the yolks hard. So we both ordered over easy eggs and we were 0 for 4 between us. Second note to the cook: Pancakes should not be hard and firm or tough. I debated taking one of mine home as a chew-toy for our puppy. Seriously. They were terrible. They actually stuck to the roof of your mouth - which wouldn't be so bad if you could "soften them up" with coffee but even that had limited effectiveness. Plus the fact that coffee only comes with TWO free refills - and we used both free refills up trying to loosen the pancakes off. At one point, DH and I looked at one another and tried to laugh but our mouths were not within our control at that point ;) Third note to the cook: Homefries can be panfried and crispy. Homefries can be panfried and really soft. But they should never ever be drowned in Liquid Gold. My DH - who has never met a potato he didn't like - took one bite and left them there. So my advice - head to McDonald's and skip Ketter's. You will be in for a better quality breakfast. read more

**Great food, bad service... The food is great, however the service is not. I've been waiting for so long to come back to this place because I've always had such great food there, but after today I won't be back. A friend and I went for lunch and waited 10 minutes for drinks and another 10 maybe 15 minutes to take our order.. and there was only one other person in the place. Usually I wouldnt care but I was taking care of my grandfather for the day so I only had about 1 hour and 15 minutes, so I figured lunch would be quick! Surely this would've been no problem if the server was focused on her one of only two tables, but unfortunately it wasn't the case. She was an older lady so I gave her the benefit of the doubt of being behind, but after so long I couldn't imagine a reason for taking so long. She was ignoring my friend and I, and it was like anything we asked was an inconvenience. Once again, the food was amazing! Everything came out, and yet again anything that was asked for seemed like an inconvenience. Some thing simple as a side of ranch seemed like such a task to her. I would completely understand if she had other tables and was busy for lunch, but it seemed like she only cared about gossiping to her few coworkers. I was heading out to Latrobe and needed lunch before I hit the Nursery plant shopping. Yelp led me to a diner that happened to be closed on Monday. This place was around the corner. The ambiance wasn't much, but my waitress was attentive with the coffee, and my bacon cheeseburger was wonderful. Juicy, bacon was crisp, there was an onion ring in there too, lettuce and tomato. Grilled bun! The cheese whiz was the only downer. I will go back the next time out that way. read more

I've been here quite a few times. I am from Latrobe and my dad found this place when he drove by it during a parts delivery trip to Jeanette. When he saw it he told me we had to try it. We went on a week day morning and got breakfast and I was wowed. The food was so good and homey and the server, Dairy, was such a joy to be around. She was so attentive and sweet and so fun to talk to. Since that day we have come back many times and I've never once been disappointed. Their pizza is superb and the homey diner atmosphere is so welcoming. I will continue to go back for years to come and recommend to all. read more
