I was really excited to try Connie's Chicken and Waffles after reading all the rave the reviews, but tbh, to my dismay the food that I had here was very mid. I will start with the pros, the service was very good, the man working the counter even threw in some extra fried chicken, shrimp, and sauces as an apology for the long wait time ... but again everything was very mid. The chicken strips and fried shrimp were very chewy and hard to eat and the chicken had no type of extra seasoning on it (the sauce can't be what carries the taste of the fried chicken and a fried chicken joint) lol. In my humble opinion ... I will say that the chicken hit the spot at 2 AM after a night out (at my lowest expectations), but alas the shrimp did not, so it got left behind in the hotel trash can (sad face). They have a kiosk available for self serve ordering. We ordered the Buttermilk Chicken and Waffles. Waffles were fluffy/airy and stole the show! The menu is pretty simple, consisting of mostly, you guessed it, chicken and a variety of waffles. The staff here was very friendly helpful and courteous. You can either order at a self serve kiosk or with one of the employees. You can also call your order in for take out or get it delivered. I ordered the chicken and crunch berry waffles. It took about 10 to 15 minutes for me food to be ready and they sent me a text to let me know it was ready for me to pickup. My food would have been good separate and was only better as a combination. It was delicious. I only wish was that they had some hot sauce and/or they gave me more syrup. I recently went back after a run one day and was craving waffles again. This time I opted for their chicken and waffles. You can order at the counter with the staff member or on one of the tablets. The food was piping hot when it came out and I opted to eat it at one of the picnic tables outside of the market. The chicken were 4 strips seasoned with a slightly spicy salty seasoning (maybe cajun-esque) and fried to perfection. It was crispy on the outside and super juicy and tender on the inside. Chicken and waffles were not good. The chicken tasted like it had a pound of MSG on it. I understand MSG adds a nice flavor to fried chicken but this was just super excessive. I also had asked to purchase a side of wing sauce to put on the chicken and they told me I couldn't do that. Seems weird since I'm sure people get extra sides of sauce when they order wings. Ended up asking for hot sauce which they gave me, it was alright probably just Texas Pete not a lot of flavor. The waffles were good, not great but not awful. Sadly we couldn't enjoy them with syrup because the "syrup" they gave us was not edible. It was so thick it moved almost like jello where it would all glop out in one giant blob onto the waffle and you could hit it and your fork would bounce off of it. To top it off the syrup didn't even taste like anything, not even sugar.... The didn't have any cups of water, only bottled water, so our group wound up walking across the street to Starbucks to get cups of water. I ordered the blue raspberry drink but didn't drink it since it had a very strange chemical taste to it... We all ordered at the same time, but some of the people in our group waited over half an hour for their food from the time the first of us got food.
