We went to Dooby's for breakfast because it was a short walk away and open on a Sunday. It turns out that was because it was connected to a hotel. Once you order at the counter, they give you a number so that they may find you once your food is ready. Our order - K-BBQ Chicken Pancakes $16.25 (double stack, chicken thigh, miso butter, fried egg, syrup) When I think of Korean bbq chicken, I think of crispy chicken in a soy garlic sauce. Here, it is more of a gochujang. I scraped some of the excess red sauce off and tamed it with the provided syrup and blueberry jam, and enjoyed the meaty dark meat with the pancakes. All the staff at Dooby's are also so kind. It was nice cute place to sit by the window and share the sandwich with a friend-- and there are outlets sprinkled throughout which makes it a great place to work, or in my case today, to charge my phone. Recently visited Dooby's for breakfast on a trip to Baltimore after it was recommended as a great brunch spot! On a weekday, I was surprised to find the place practically empty at 10 am. You order at the counter, and they bring your food to you when it's ready. The service at the counter was not great. I didn't feel very welcome, but the food came out quickly at least. The vibes inside were super cute, and the breakfast menu is an eclectic collection of Korean fusion dishes. I got the cheese and potato burrito with a side of kimchi potato salad. At one point during the pandemic, I was ordering their pies and cookies way too much. I haven't been a Dooby's in a really long time. Because it's owned by Korean restauranteur, Phil Han, the menu has a lot of Korean fusion items. My friend and I went for brunch recently, and I was actually really disappointed that I didn't get a brunch item. I decided to get a bahnmi, and it just was not very good. The Matcha was also overly milky. I didn't even taste the Matcha at all, and the pork belly on the bahnmi was not rendered correctly. The staff is super kind and helpful but the food just wasn't very good. My favorite was probably the kimchi potato salad because who doesn't love a potato salad? It is a large area and I was shocked to see so many people working here on a Saturday so I do love that this place exist exists. I'm very disappointed because I used to love Dooby's and will definitely be coming back to give it another try. I also feel like the vibes have shifted. This was a nice stop on the way home from Artscape. Parking can be difficult, but if you look far enough you should be able to find something. The cafe is cute and counter service only, but they bring your food to you when it's ready. Although there was a long line at the counter, it went very quickly and the food was brought out very quickly. I ordered a banh mi with spicy garlic chicken with a side of hash and a s'mores cookie. While the chicken was very juicy and all the makings of a good banh mi were there, the ratios were a little off. The meat flavor was overwhelming (get your money's worth I guess?) and I wish there were more pickled vegetables. All in all it was pretty good and certainly filling. The potatoes were cooked perfectly and were really yummy. The s'mores cookie was thin and chewy. I would come back and try the banh mi again, perhaps with tofu next time. read more

A great option for working, coffee, and breakfast in the Mt. Vernon neighborhood. I was staying nearby at Hotel Ulysses and posted up at Dooby's for two hours to get some work done. My almond milk chai was serviceable and I felt the pepper jam on the bacon egg and cheese was a little heavy handed, but overall I enjoyed everything. Dooby's was close to our hotel so we stopped in for breakfast. It's a nice open space with a good amount of seating. I saw several people there working or studying so seems a good spot for that. You can order at the counter. The staff were all nice. We chose to share a steak, egg, and cheese sandwich. You can choose how you'd like your egg cooked so we of course opted for a nice runny egg! The sandwich was large and very tasty. I noticed they also serve ramen, buildable rice bowls, and sandwiches in addition to their breakfast options. They also had some yummy looking sweets in a case. Very spacious, easy to find room if you come to cafes to get some work done. Great that they have a variety of food options that are also unique. Personally prefer brightly lit cafes, and in additional to the cloudy weather it was pretty dim inside with warm lighting. Definitely personal preference. There were guests coming to dine as well, and the delicious food is definitely distracting if you want to do work hahaha. Cold brew was good and the london fog was perfectly sweetened and delicious. I think reusable drinkware may be an option, but I didn't realize until I saw others with mugs so maybe you have to specifically ask for it. Unfortunate. Also wish they didn't charge .75 for dairy alternatives. Overall solid cafe though. read more

I love the coffee here but from time to time I'll get the matcha latte which is delicious! The servers are always very friendly and the orders come out quickly. There is indoor and outdoor seating, and you'll always find folks chatting, working, or just generally hanging around inside I haven't yet tried the full good menu but it's on my list to try. read more

Came in 2-3 weeks ago and got the best bacon egg and cheese sandwich with pepper jelly. I got it how it came but thought my bacon could had been crispier. I try not to order bacon extra crispy bc sometimes at other places it comes out burnt. So I came back today and decided to to try out the extra crispy but my egg was undercooked with yolk coming out *yuck*. I was so sad bc I only could eat the other half with bacon and some cheese but none of the good pepper jelly. I tried to enjoy my carrot cream cheese muffin which I thought was going to taste like carrot cake but tasted like a a carrot muffin not sweet and not good. On my drive from Doobys to my job I did enjoy my cold brew even though u asked for it to be extra sweet it was not in fact I watched the guy make it and I don't believe he even looked at the instructions on extra sweet but the coffee itself was good and for 4 dollars I'm not too upset. Going forward I think I won't order online but will come in and order to make sure my food is prepared to my liking. Oh well try again another saturday. I went to Doobys for a quick little meeting. I grabbed a club sandwich which was tasty. Also had a little latte. Not a huge coffee drinker, but it was pleasant. The space was nice for working on something on the computer and/chatting it up a friend. Overall, it was good but I did not like the way my clothes smelled after leaving. I've been a couple of times and the food is fantastic!! The spicy garlic chicken Bahn mi with the Korean potato salad was phenomenal and not too spicy. However, the people behind the counter are so unpleasant. I'm not sure which was worse, the baristas' attitudes or the drinks that they made. We got the jasmine mint tea and a strawberry matcha. The tea tasted like potpourri and the matcha was so bland, we threw both drinks out. I love their food, but they need to fix their service. read more

I ordered a bowl with half brown rice, half greens and brisket. The portions were huge--enough for two meals. I tried two sauces on the side based on the cashier's recommendation: Spicy G and Ghost Chili. The Spicy G was spicy and slightly sour but unbalanced to me. The Ghost Chili was thicker, more chili-forward and had a lingering heat, which I preferred. The brisket was flavorful but some parts were really tough. The pickled veggies added a nice textural contrast but overall I wish the bowl were more flavorful given all of its component. I also had a delightfully tart and refreshing iced hibiscus tea as well as a Fruity Pebbles cookie. The cookie was quite crunchy and slightly sweet with a very subtle Fruity Pebble flavor and caramelized bits reminiscent of a sugar cookie. Dooby's has recently become my favorite neighborhood cafe. Their iced oat milk latte with lavender vanilla syrup is one of my favorite things ever. The inside is fairly well suited for remote work however, the upper dining room tends to be reserved for non-laptop diners at certain peak hours. The outside has a few picnic tables with umbrellas too. The people who work here are always friendly and quick despite there seemingly being a steady flow of customers at all times. I recently stopped by for lunch and got one of their bowls. I love how you can customize the bowls to your liking and everything is clearly marked gluten free, vegan, etc. The bowl comes with your choice of base, protein, and sauce plus a bunch of veggies like broccoli, sweet potato, and cauliflower. It's pretty hearty! I chose seared tuna for my bowl and topped it with a wasabi sauce. I felt like there was something missing from it but couldn't quite put my finger on it. I also thought the combo of tuna and sweet potato was kinda weird. I probably would opt for a different protein next time. They have other gluten free options on the menu including some rice noodles I have my eye on. i've only heard raving reviews about Dooby's but i fear my experience was not up to the hype. But that doesn't mean it was bad! i got the korean cheesesteak with the kimchi potato salad, and it was a bit underwhelming. perhaps the hype got to my head or i have a lot more experience with asian cuisine to expect some mind blowing experience, but the flavors were very simple to me. the cheesesteak tasted mainly of gochujang and sugar, and i feel like extra mayo would have made it a bit better. by no means bad but perhaps do not approach this expecting to get your pants blown off. service was good though, and interior is very cute so it was overall a really pleasant experience! personally though i would not buy this again and would make it myself if i were craving the sandwich. would recommend to anyone going to study, work, or get a quick bite overall but would not breach my top food lists read more

Doobie's has a great selection of unique coffee and chai that is not too sweet, and different from the usual fair. Their miso caramel cappuccino has just a touch of umami from the miso, and tastes more like why I would hope from a coffee drink: savory, complex, and not too much like a dessert. I haven't yet tried there mini food, offerings, however, everything on the tables around me, looked wonderful, and it seems that they go far beyond coffee to offer great options for brunch. read more

Pro tip: they let you choose how you like your eggs cooked, but I highly highly recommend over easy or sunny side up for the perfect yolk break. Having actually come during a busier time on the weekend (~Sunday noon), I'm realizing that you should probably prepared to possibly not find a table if you come during a peak hour. It was also a little louder, so probably not a first-date type of spot, but was perfect for us friends catching up. This was a lovely little coffee shop and restaurant to get some work done in. I really appreciated the availability of options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. A lot of times with cafes, you're kind of pigeonholed to traditional cafe fare - pastries, maybe some breakfast sandwiches, etc. Their Korean-inspired lunch and dinner menu means there's a lot more options beyond that, plus the regular drinks and pastries if you're in the mood. My starving self was pleased to see this variety. After debating over the menu, I eventually settled on the pork buns. The food was delivered to me at my table after a pretty short wait. While the pork buns were much messier than I anticipated, they were absolutely delicious. The pork belly was basically just an extra large piece of bacon nestled between a super soft bun. The green onions and whatever that sauce was (I wish I could remember, it was yummy!) added some extra flavors so it wasn't too much of the same bite over and over again. A little while after finishing the pork buns, I decided it was time for my dessert - coffee. I tried on of their mocha lattes, and it had an interesting (but not bad!) flavor. It reminded me of making chocolate milk with Hershey's syrup when I was a kid, but in a latte. It was nice and chocolatey, just not a type of flavor I've found in a mocha latte before! A cute study spot in the Mt. Vernon area! They have a rotating selection of syrups that are great in drinks, especially in their matchas. I got the maple brown sugar caramel syrup in my matcha, and my friend got the lavender vanilla syrup in hers, and both were great with the flavors of the syrups clearly coming through. The only con to the matcha is the size is pretty small for the price, so I wouldn't be coming here for my regular matcha fix, but it is a nice treat. The spicy-g mac and cheese is a highlight of the menu, and comes in a pretty big portion for its price, which was pleasantly surprising. The portion of the Spicy Korean Street Style Noodles was also very large and enough to take home for leftovers for me, but leaned a little saltier than how I would typically eat, especially with the Spicy Garlic Chicken as my protein. The pricing is reasonable at $15 for the noodles. Another highlight on the menu for me has been the kimchi potato salad, which is perfectly tangy and a great fusion dish. Service was quick; no complaints from me! The WiFi works pretty well and there are plenty of seats, but the volume is a little high for a good study spot without noise cancelling headphones if that's what you're looking for--but it's definitely a great brunch spot on the weekends. read more

I've been infrequently visiting Dooby's for years as my salon is next door. I may stop in 1-2 times a year. I've enjoyed their Korean cheesesteak (x2), their chai's, but their standout offering for me is the fruity pebble sugar cookie. I get one every time I stop by. My kids love them and it's consistently delicious. I had a chance to extend my stay for a couple hours today to work and enjoy lunch. The music is always a vibe and staff are consistently warm and friend. Fast service always! Dooby's is a staple for sure! Dooby's is cute, but I just don't get why people love this place so much. I came with my friend as this place is walking distance to the Peabody and other museums. I'll admit, I had high expectations and was excited to finally try this place out. It's well-loved by many and has pretty good reviews, some of which are my friends. However, I felt super underwhelmed by my experience. I found Dooby's ordering and service to be disconnected and confusing. The staff weren't super friendly either. They were fairly busy, so I'll cut them a little slack. I ordered a latté and the Korean BBQ Cheesesteak. She ordered the Japchae and a Matcha latté. My sandwich was rather dry and the chunks of meat was not what I was expecting at all. It came recommended by the staff, so I guess it's a bestseller for them. I wouldn't order it again. I've been to Dooby's about half a dozen times now. I really like the staff and the layout of the shop. It's not quiet enough to have a meeting, but that's because it has a fun, bustling energy. When it's warm enough, you can sit outside at their tables if you need to take a meeting or call (though these benches are open almost year-round). Very decent coffee. My favorite thing is the (bacon) egg & cheese sandwich with a spicy jelly that takes it over the top. Definitely worth a visit and has become a personal staple when I visit Baltimore. read more
