This place is kind of a local institution. The staff seem all young women who consistently are slow and get my order wrong. The rolls are small but tasty. Extras are an expensive 59 cents each. The chicken looks great and while eating it I noticed that the texture was great, very crispy skin and juicy chicken BUT it was just too bland. The blueberry donuts are incredible. I've been all over the US and can't find anything close to Connie's. The chicken strips are good, too, and the onion rings!! Also, the rolls are dripping with butter and perfect. Customer service is really lacking and at times they are just plain rude but the food is good. I called to place an order for pickup at 1045. I was about 15 to 20 minutes out. I was told that they could not take my order for lunch that I needed to call back in about 20 minutes. You serve lunch, don't you? So you don't start cooking lunch until After 1100 am? Why couldn't you take my order? Obviously you don't care about your customers. Then my boyfriend called to place an order, he asked could you get onion rings with a couple of chicken strips. He was told no. "We only sells strips by 4." Why would or could you not sell 2 strips? We went based off other Yelp reviews and were not disappointed. The name describes what they do well. The owner was present and engaging. The menu items were few but since they were prepared in plane sight our choices were easy to make. The chicken biscuit and tenderloin biscuit(pork) could not have been made any better. If you like gravy then get in your car and go there. Why did I not give Connie's Fried Chicken 5 stars? There was little ambience and they charged me a $1.89 for a pitifully small OJ. Some might say I should not expect any atmosphere in a fast food restaurant but it could use an update. We saw the reviews on yelp and decided to give it a try. The chicken was perfectly cooked and delicious. Way better than any fast food fried chicken. The sides were good as well. The rolls are moist yeast rolls that are very soft and the sweet tea was perfect. We were fortunate enough to catch the owner, Mike making a huge batch of blueberry donuts at 6:45 at night and he gave us some to try...melt in your mouth perfection! I'm not into fried chicken, so it didn't amaze me that much compared to the chain restaurants. The chicken was good though. Crispy and not too much dough. The best thing was the blueberry donuts though. I'm not very into blueberry flavor, but their donuts were so good. I liked them even more than the Scarlet's donuts I had. It's a cake type of donut, but texture was just right for it. The chicken biscuits are only sold in the morning, which always made it hard to get, so I never got to try them. But a coffee and donut a good combo to get in late morning at least, if you can't get the chicken biscuit. They also have a drive through that gets busy, but can be convenient. read more

Took a 3,500 mile road trip across the South and after eating fried chicken at 5 establishments Connie's was the clear winner for best fried chicken. This would have been 5 stars, but the sides, green beans and cole slaw were average. This place is strictly about the chicken and for some, I gather, the blueberry donuts (did not try them). The chicken is not Foster Farms or any type of factory processed meat. It is mostly free of globs of fat and free of chemical feed tastes. The fry part is excellent, with crispy skin and seasoned batter that is not to salty and just spicy enough. Yes, we had to wait for the order, but in my opinion it goes to show that the chicken was cooked after my order and not waiting under heat lights. The service was friendly and efficient. I enjoyed talking about the local area and being asked questions about where we had been so far. The only negative is that I may never enjoy their fried chicken again, unless they deliver to California. read more

We were on a road trip through the south (we're from Los Angeles) and we tried about 8 different, highly recommend, fried chicken places in Tennessee, Alabama and Mississippi. Connie's, we all agreed, was by far the best. And the staff and owner we're SO nice. When the owner found out we were from LA and rushed to get to his place before closing he gave us extra things to try like the sweet tea, etc. Very nice of him and it really made for a good experience. Wow, it's not real fancy but boy is it good. Went for breakfast after staying overnight in Tupelo. The crowd seemed heavily tilted toward locals and if I lived near by it would be a regular stop. The biscuits were obviously homemade and fluffy and tender and delicious. The sausage and gravy were just like I wished my mother had made. The blueberry donuts were the best I've ever had anywhere in the country. Prices are reasonable. This is a real Southern treasure. Can't wait the next time in town to try their chicken. read more
