This is a really nice diner hidden away in Vista near Rancho Buena Vista High School on Melrose Ave. I ride my bike down this street often and had no idea Connie's was tucked away in this shopping center. We had a really nice breakfast and sat outside for sidewalk dining. They have 6 or so tables inside and a like number outside. Connie was very friendly and attentive during all parts of our meal. I had the ham & cheese omelette with home fries and sourdough toast. Coffee was also hot and tasty. Others in my party had the biscuits and gravy with hash browns and also a kids meal with a pancake, sausage and an egg. Really enjoyed ourselves and When the meal was over Connie brought out 3 peanut butter and jelly cookies. Never had one before but it was still soft and warm and delicious. Def going back!!

You should try this small restaurant. I went there for lunch yesterday which was my first visit. It is a modest, storefront restaurant, run by the owner, Connie, and her son. Although I don't often eat red meat, I had to try the meatloaf sandwich after seeing it on the menu. It was delicious. The bread was lightly toasted perfectly. The meatloaf thick and flavorful, with a light tomato crust, just like my mom used to make. The potato salad was homemade, with the peels on--a far cry from the commercial version one usually finds. My friend had the French-dip sandwich, which he found to be equally wonderful. I am looking forward to going back to further explore the menu at this wonderful little restaurant. By the way, Connie offers take-out dinners once a week, the menu being "her choice."

First time trying this place and it is good! I was very surprised by how hot the food was. I went to the gas station and starbucks and just got back and then Xu delivered the food. he must have been speeding because it was still hot. I appreciate that greatly. I tried the biscuits and gravy because the last time I had it elsewhere, it was not good. But this dish was great! it was a lot for me so I barely finished one biscuit of the Biscuits & Gravy. I didn't finish the stage and the inky thing I ate in its entirety was the scrambled egg. For the Little Piggy , it looked good but I didn't try it. However, all of it was eaten. And I really had a hankering for Pancakes, so I ordered that and it was good. I ate a quarter of it and then my bf finished all of the other plates. I will definitely order from this place again.

The building is Small but mighty good food. We have been to Connie's before and it never disappoints. Always plenty of food for the price and the service is always on point. Today we had biscuits and gravy. It came with eggs to order, hash browns and a sausage patty. Delicious on all fronts. Connie has been at this location for 11 years and she and her son have a great place. Plenty of to go orders for a Sunday at 8:00 am. Her bill comes with homemade specialty cookies. Today was orange, cherry, and white chocolate!! Divine!!

Visiting our family in Vista and they recommended for all of us to go to Connie's... I underestimated how great this food would be. I get why they have such amazing reviews! The food was so, so good. We ordered the grilled roast beef (delicious!), the western burger (delicious!), the Hawaiian burger (also delicious), the Reuben (oh my gosh so good), and three French dips... you can't go wrong with any of it! And she cooks everything herself, real marinated meats, slow cooking, and you can taste the difference in her food vs a standard processed restaurant. Can't wait to go back.

Perfectly perfect fluffy pancakes, soft fluffy eggs and delicious biscuits and gravy! Breakfast food done well and at a price point that won't break the bank. This is a neighborhood place and the customers call the owner, Connie, by name. It is a tiny little diner with additional seating outside. The decor has cute signs on the walls that you can read while you wait. This is how breakfast food is done right. Connie is no-nonsense so don't go in trying to customize stuff or you might get the side-eye. But you can see how much the owner cares for the regulars and when she has time she will stop and chat- but the place is busy so go early. This is a classic breakfast diner where you go to get good food- plain and simple. It's a local place and it's delicious. I wish there were more places like it.

Hubby and I love finding new places that are independently owned. Connie's is our new place. Busy, little restaurant that has a small town feel. Food was amazing, service spectacular, and the owner is great. We will be back soon. read more

I recently moved back to north county, and was pleasantly surprised to learn of a new spot for breakfast and lunch. This small but quaint cafe if you will, was delightful. The food was fantastic. I ordered breakfast typical eggs and sausage , and felt like I was in my moms dining room. Fair prices, excellent food, at home atmosphere. Went into this wonderful establishment bc a guy twirling a sign caught our eye. Went in and it was packed. The lady here is wonderful and sweet. I had the best brunch here ever. I highly recommend the fancy grilled cheese. Definitely coming back for more. Highly recommend this place. read more

Had breakfast here for the first time this morning. Awesome! The place is small but very cozy and intimate. Like being in your grandma's kitchen. I had the traditional Benedict and my fiancé had the Benedict with spinach, tomatoes, and mushrooms. The hollandaise sauce was super decadent and perfect consistency. The ham was absolutely delicious. Eggs were perfectly poached. Coffee was strong too which I love! Totally hidden little gem but we were so glad we stopped in. Connie the owner was there and she made our breakfast for us. She's a lovely lady, very friendly and made us feel right at home. To top it off she gives out her homemade cookies with your check! They are different everyday apparently. Today we had the coconut, pumpkin spice cookies and they were bomb! We will definitely return! Connie you made our day! read more

I live in the Shadow ridge area and was used to having to drive at least a couple miles to get a good breakfast but I decided to look on yelp and found Connie's. It most definitely lives up to its rating! I was quickly able to be seated and the initial hospitality was amazing, as I was offered a beverage upon sitting down. I had one of the best omelettes I've ever eaten and the pancakes were perfection! I would also recommend trying their French Toast if you get the chance! Everyone should go try it! read more

Wow! What a surprise! We were driving to the Original Pancake House when we saw their sign spinner on a Sunday morning. We figured we'd give it a try! The place is very small but the food is amazing! MAKE SURE you try the eggs Benedict and hash browns. We also had a kitchen sink omelet and pancakes. Connie is too sweet and made a special pancake for out daughter and brought her extra fruit. Make sure you stop by if you want a delicious, reasonably priced breakfast. read more

Was in the area, searched breakfast on Yelp and found this place. Like trying out new places to eat at so was up for enjoying another breakfast spot. I ordered Eggs Benedict although i was tempted to order their special if the day: blueberry pancakes..... while was waiting for my order, Connie hooked it up and brought over a blueberry pancake to try! Wow! That was super cool of her. So of course i tried it and was not disappointed. Eggs Benedict with hash browns followed....not disappointed here either! Then Connie hooked it up with various cookies to try too! They give their customers a cookie with their check...cool idea, never seen this before. This place has great food! Best tasting cookies I have had in my life, amazing potatoes salad, and Rueben. But if you have asthma steer clear. This place definitely has a cigarette scent to it that may agitate your asthma. Not a fan of that at all! Great customer service. If you don't care about that then this is one tasty little hole in the wall cafe. read more

4.5 stars! This place is a cute little gem. Felt like we were at someone's house for a family meal. We had their breakfast entrees - benedicts, regular eggs/sausage/toast combo, and a side of shortstack pancakes. Everything tastes good. Portions were big and filling. My friend ordered be BLT and couldn't finish it since it was so big. Very good as well. The bill comes to you with small fresh baked cookies, what a wonderful treat at the end of a hearty meal!!! read more

I love this little place. I eat here as often as I can. Friendly, great prices and delicious. Connie has the best biscuits and gravy around! A nice walk from our house and nice staff. Want to really like this place but just not that impressed after a few visits. Food is ok, just hoping for better. Potatoes were way over cooked and no onions or peppers that other local plaçes have in breakfast potatoes. Glad to see the positive reviews. read more

Hubby's sunny side up egg was served raw/runny on top. He sent it back, and the chef apparently just flipped it upside down on the cooktop for a minute to cook the top lol! Not good. My omelet had no seasoning whatsoever. I think we'll pass next time. read more

Had brunch with my gf here for the first time and it was great. She's a picky eater and she loved her eggs and French toast. My son had a cheese omelet with hash browns and left nothing. I was completely satisfied with my experience here and will be coming back since it's around the corner from where I live. read more

WOW.....Congratulations, Connie......Look at all the stars......and all well deserved. All her compliments are well deserved. This is a place where friends meet to have a homemade meal and chat. Very comfortable. Her soups are the best ever....Just like "grandma's"..... except they are Connie's creations......All the menu choices are ....I wanna try this or that next time kind of dish. Connie is amazing. She runs the show efficiently and with a smile. I had Lulu's Benedict which was amazing. Sauce was perfect and the hash browns were crisp and brown. The topper was her fresh baked cookies. Today's flavor was orange, mint, and dark chocolate chip. Her one year anniversary will be November 2015. I am above impressed with this place! The prices are great, the food is delicious, and the cookie served with the check is one of the best I have ever had! The place is small, so if you are going at a peak time you might have a bit of a wait, but it's worth it. The owner and her son are wonderful people and I really enjoyed getting to chat with them! Tried Connie's for the first time today for breakfast take out. I got the French Toast with bacon and eggs over medium. Food was good and service was excellent. So glad to have a new food option without having to go closer to the 78 or Carlsbad. Restaurant is small. It would be difficult to go with more than four people in your party. I love how it is decorated. read more

Super cute little restaurant! Connie is really friendly and takes great care of her clients! My son and I drove from Escondido this morning for breakfast based on these Yelp reviews and we were not disappointed! I had Lulu's Benedict and it was just yummy! Perfectly poached eggs. Crispy English muffin. And super fresh vegetables! The cookies she brought out with our check were delicious as well. We had some that were lemon, raisin, chocolate chip - a combination that seems a little wonky at first, but I wanted to eat three dozen of them!! Highly recommend this place! My brother and I were born in Missouri. We are octogenarians and were raised during the 1030's depression on biscuits and gravy. We have been searching north San Diego County for the best fare in that category every Saturday for a couple years. While driving in the 1600 block of south Melrose Drive we spotted a very active and professional sign twirler by the name of Edward. One of the best sign twirlers I have ever seen. Anyway his sign directed us to Connie's where we were allowed to choose where we got to sit. Our waitress was Carrie and she was very personable and efficient. Bro Jack and I order the special biscuits and gravy breakfast with two eggs and hash browns. Connie the owner is the chef and she is good and dedicated to making her diners happy. Jack and I loved the cute decor of this neat little place to eat in our area. We both agree that if Connie were around in our day she could duplicate what mom served us. The kind of homemade gravy that had chunks of sausage in it. When we are ready for our next fix of this fare we are heading straight to Connie's unique restaurant, home of real "stick to the ribs" food. We're in on vacation from Arizona. This was our last day here for my son's birthday. When we arrived I told the waitress that it was my son's fifth birthday and asked if they would be able to make his pancake special. Her and the cook looked at what they had and said they could add M&Ms. His food arrived and it was a perfect pancake topped with whipped cream with M&Ms. My boyfriend ordered the corned beef hash and I ordered Little Piggy omelet, both amazing. You will be so glad you came here. If you like feeling like a friend or family is making your food, this is the place to go. They keep the coffee coming, don't mind special orders and leave you full and satisfied physically and emotionally. Connie is the real deal. Her son works there as well. I would not recommend this place. Too many negatives to discuss. If you want a timely meal, clean place, and respectful service, go elsewhere. I felt bad for this owner, they only had one person doing dishes, cooking, taking orders, and handling money. I left a tip because I felt bad for them. Not going there again. read more

We followed our instincts and chose Connie's for a late breakfast. It's a very small place tucked into a strip mall, but cozy with a few tables outside and only 6 or 7 inside. It was bustling with clients so we were told it would be 10-15 minutes wait. But then a nice couple invited us to join them. It was their first visit as well. We really enjoyed the food, -fantastic Apple French Toast and Omelettes. The service was super efficient and friendly. And we made new friends as well! We'll definitely go back! read more

Currently have been waiting over an hour for our food. The waitress however is exceptionally friendly, but I don't feel like spending my entire Sunday waiting for breakfast to be served. The menu is full of options, everything is home made, but the wait time is killing us. read more

At about 11:20 the cashier woman came to our table with our original receipt and showed us the time stamp on the receipt and said, "I told you you can only be here for about an hour, this is not the kind of cafe where you can sit and work all day." I said, "It's only 11:20, it's not even lunch time, we planned on ordering lunch here as well." She just walked away and said nothing. We should have left but we were in the middle of working. We did end up ordering food, 2 avocado toast dishes. They made one of them incorrectly and they tasted just OK. We certainly didn't tip her and we certainly will NOT be going back there EVER again. There are other reviewers who feel the same way about this woman, read carefully before you consider giving this place a single penny, she doesn't deserve your business. We are always looking for nice little cafes to work from, she could have gotten 2 new customers for life, instead she gets this review and maybe one day will learn a lesson.

This place is like if your favorite local coffee shop and bakery doubled as a delicious breakfast restaurant with fair prices for huge portions. The decor and ambiance were very nice and modern, plenty of deep wood tones to make it feel warm and inviting. We ordered a latte flight because their coffee drinks all sounded so good that we couldn't decide and we definitely don't regret it. We could tell each drink was crafted so intentionally because the flavors were very distinct and accurate to their menu descriptions, all without covering up the flavor of the espresso. The barista offered to let us know which drink was which once she served us, and I wouldn't shut up the whole time about how this place was made for people like us who love coffee and just want to try everything. I will be coming back for a full sized Spider Monkey (great spiced mocha flavor+loved the crunchy texture that's reminiscent of java chips!). We had the House Hash and Choriquiles which BLEW US AWAY COMPLETELY. There was so much flavor in the salsa and also in the side of beans. I'm talking about the kind of flavor that's punchy and addicting and just plain unforgettable. Shoutouts the cook on the egg station for making my sunny-side up eggs perfectly. You know their staff are at the top of their game when you order your dish with no sour cream and no avocado and a server (who did not take your order) notices they're missing from your plate and offers to have the kitchen remake it! I was so impressed by the level of scrutiny and immediacy, there's just no better way to show how great the service was. Everyone here is helpful, personable, and definitely cares for their customers and the quality they put out. First visit yet we already know we're going to become regulars. Truly an amazing first impression.

In response to Laura R. I was here the day this happened. Laura could not have been there for more than 20 minutes and caused a scene for no real reason. She also cursed out the guests seated inside while Connie tried to take care of us. Laura also dropped multiple f bombs inside the restaurant where kids were seated. She's the worst kind of customer from what I saw. I hope I never have to start my morning breakfast anywhere near you again. Connie is a 1 person show and this is a community spot.
