This is a wonderful local breakfast, brunch lunch restaurant. It's in a strip mall, close to Lake San Marcos.We go here several times a year. If we lived closer, this would be our go to breakfast place. Lots of variety on the menu, great staff. You could eat inside or outside on the attached patio Which makes it dog friendly. I had a great half salad where I added chicken and it was huge! Iv did not order this time but their French fries are excellent. Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside and they stay warm! I would give this place a 3.8 on a more detailed scale. The country fried steak was alright. The prices were decent. The ambiance was like a family style diner. Similar to a dennys feel but more personalized. The service was decent. They were quick with the coffee which was great! The server was very nice. read more

I initially walked in and the ladies up at the front told me I could sit anywhere we liked. We waited over 10 minutes after sitting to be acknowledged and asked for a drink order but no menus had even been brought up to our table yet after said time. Honestly, it was just disrespectful, as the table right next to me got immediate attention and immediate drinks. We never got out drinks and decided to cancel and walk out. So happy my search took me to Mariah's Westwind. Was given a great table by the outer fence, which worked out perfectly. Ate, read my book and people watched. I forgot to get my server's name, she was absolutely fantastic! The beefeater sandwich was delicious and plentiful. Was only able to eat half of it and half the fries, leftovers will be another full meal. Not sure if this Mariah 's is/was related to the one in Carlsbad that I went to decades ago. Ordered a vegetarian omelette, and expected a moist savory taste, but unfortunately the avocado was not ripe, the eggs were rubbery and I had to smother it with salsa just to make it tasty along with salt. I asked for a STRONG cup of coffee... no such thing apparently. This is such a great little breakfast and lunch spot. I've had so much on the menu and I've never had a bad meal. Between all the eggs Benedict options and the classics, there's so much to choose from! French toast, Benedict Florentine, the Tuna melt are a few of my favorites. Absolutely delicious food here. My parents came to visit me when I wasn't feeling my best so we were looking for a place to get some food. It was during the week so it wasn't very busy. The service was pretty good. The waiter was pretty laid back and relaxed but gave great recommendations, so you can tell he enjoyed working there. We sat in the outdoor seating, so we got to see a few dogs with their owners. This is definitely a place I would come to again to try other items on the menu. So I'll be back to get the 5 stars up there. read more

Popular place, but luckily have come at times to not wait long, if at all, for a table. I always get the Country Benedict or Country breakfast for the biscuits and gravy, hash browns and eggs. Indoor and outdoor seating. Outdoor seating has umbrellas which is helpful. Large enough parking lot to never have an issue finding a spot. read more

I've been to Mariah's before and wanted to like it again, but unfortunately, this visit confirmed that the quality has declined significantly. The food is marginal at best. The meats are cheap and fatty, and the once-popular corned beef hash is now dry and poorly composed--large, bland chunks of potato, a few onions, and dry bits of corned beef. There's no real recipe or thought behind it, though I'll give credit for it at least being homemade in the past. Now, they've switched to Vienna-brand thin-sliced corned beef with a strong salt and vinegar aftertaste, which was disappointing. Our food arrived lukewarm, suggesting it had been sitting before being served. For a $30 meal, that's simply not acceptable. Adding to the frustration, they've cut corners by replacing butter with margarine and switching to coconut oil across the board, while simultaneously raising prices. The result is paying more for a noticeably lower-quality experience. To be fair, the service was friendly and well-intentioned, and the restaurant manages its busy flow of customers efficiently. The food is plated nicely, and the atmosphere is still inviting. But none of that can make up for the steep drop in food quality. Mariah's used to be one of the best breakfast spots in North County, but not anymore. I won't be going back. read more

I like Mariah's but I don't love it. They manage their intake well. It's a busy place. The service is good and well-intentioned. The food is good enough and well-plated. I like corned beef hash, but they don't think it out. They put down a plate of rather dry chunks of corned beef with some large chunks of potatoes and a very few cooked onions. It's just not good. There's no "recipe". At least it's homemade, but... I should stick to the omelettes. read more

Pretty cool little restaurant near the hidden, elite, hideaway of the San Elijo area of San Marcos. The menu is pretty good size and so far everything I have tried here has been good. The place is small but lots of outdoor seating. Very clean and inviting. Parking is good with it being in a little shopping center. Customer service was excellent. Friendly and helpful. The food was good. I had the corned beef hash and then went for lunch and got a ruben. The meats were very good and not too salty. The food just tasted very fresh and was cooked very well. Nice little spot! Quiet, fast service, nice patio, and not crowded. Also dog friendly. Had the yogurt and fruit bowl with granola and it was much fresher fruit than I usually get in other restaurants. Very tasty. A friend had the spinach salad and said it was very good. She also had the chili and said it was better than another spot we go to that has very good chili. All in all a very good experience and we will definitely be back! read more

First off, welcoming staff! Everyone is so nice! The restaurant is not super up to date, gives you a very home/mom&pop shop/outdated diner vibe. Inside is not very large but can prob fit 10-12 tables of 4 which I guess is decent. They have an outside patio which is pet friendly. We chose to sit outside since it looked like a beautiful day. The staff were very nice after we switched tables like 3 times (sorry! We had a baby with us so wanted to make sure she was in the shade). Honestly the tables and chairs could probably use an update BUT everything is CLEAN. Chairs just looked a little sun worn and tables kind of rusted. Onto the food: I got Carley's Combo (French toast, bacon, medium eggs) - this tasted so good! really loved all of it. They were generous with their portions! I stole some hash browns from my group (crispy and light!). Our group really enjoyed our brunch. My eggs were cooked to perfection - a good balance of runny yet composed. They gave me like 4 strips of bacon! It had a good bite (not thin, not super thick). Meats are cheap and fatty Real kicker was ordering the stack of 2 pancakes, which is $13.95, I asked if I could get one chocolate one banana as the kids couldn't decide. When I got the bill it was $21 for two pancakes. I asked why and was told because each topping is $7. I questioned the reasoning and was told, "I don't make the prices I just work here... things are expensive now". In a raised voice so everyone heard and looked. Instead of arguing I paid and left, and will not return. After looking at further reviews, it appears that we were fooled by there 4.2 rating. They have clearly fallen apart as recent reviews have noted the disappointment compared to years past. read more

Whoa. We're from Tierrasanta in SD. Our first time in the area and a packed restaurant with a long wait recommend Mariah's. The service was amazing. The food OMFG, it is the best French dip I've ever had. I get them everywhere I go. My 13 year old got the ATC and said it's really good. It's super filling and crispy bread. Not sure why it's taken me this long to write a review for Mariah's. We've been going here for years. It's our go to spot for breakfast and brunch. Coffee is always amazing, their biscuits are...well, a few years ago I called and ordered a full try of them for a party we were having to go with my husbands brisket. I didn't have time to make the amount we needed and no one knew they were not mine (I make good biscuits ). My favorite is the omelets, my husband loves their California Benedict and our kids always want the multigrain pancakes. Their homemade salsa is also amazing. Plenty of outdoor seating with umbrellas make it perfect for us with our dog and walking distance when we want to enjoy some brunch mimosas! The staff is always friendly and fun to chat with. Mariah's has been a go-to over the years when we want a classic diner-esque comfort food breakfast/brunch. It has a friendly laid-back neighborhood vibe with welcoming and attentive service, and a large outdoor shaded patio- dog and family friendly. The food is hearty, simple and delicious- I usually get their California Benedict with crisp bacon, creamy slices of avocado contrasting nicely with fresh slices of tomato all topped with a perfectly oozing yolkie egg and of course the rich hollandaise sauce. Their Hashbrowns have the perfect ratio of crispiness (I like to err on the side of more crisp) and you can taste the delicious butter it was fried in. Hashbrowns are usually the metric by which I assess breakfast spots - and this place nails it. My husband loves breakfast burritos and Mariah's takes one of his top spots for this- reminding him of the comforting flavor of local Mexican fast food but balanced out by a more healthier quality of ingredients. The coffee is plentiful with never-ending refills. For my taste, the coffee is a bit lighter than what I typically prefer (but then again I normally have 3-4 shots of straight espresso a day). Similar to what most people have said, Mariah's food is just good ole comfort food - like a warm familiar hug for your tummy. Highly recommend! read more

I have gone the last 3 weekends in a row, (and at least 3 other times in last 6 months) looking for a regular place, and every time the service was poor. Only one server for the entire patio. They need more service help. I've never eaten inside, but the decor is tired and drab. One more server on the weekends would help. read more
