This is a really nice diner hidden away in Vista near Rancho Buena Vista High School on Melrose Ave. I ride my bike down this street often and had no idea Connie's was tucked away in this shopping center. We had a really nice breakfast and sat outside for sidewalk dining. They have 6 or so tables inside and a like number outside. Connie was very friendly and attentive during all parts of our meal. I had the ham & cheese omelette with home fries and sourdough toast. Coffee was also hot and tasty. Others in my party had the biscuits and gravy with hash browns and also a kids meal with a pancake, sausage and an egg. Really enjoyed ourselves and When the meal was over Connie brought out 3 peanut butter and jelly cookies. Never had one before but it was still soft and warm and delicious. Def going back!!

You should try this small restaurant. I went there for lunch yesterday which was my first visit. It is a modest, storefront restaurant, run by the owner, Connie, and her son. Although I don't often eat red meat, I had to try the meatloaf sandwich after seeing it on the menu. It was delicious. The bread was lightly toasted perfectly. The meatloaf thick and flavorful, with a light tomato crust, just like my mom used to make. The potato salad was homemade, with the peels on--a far cry from the commercial version one usually finds. My friend had the French-dip sandwich, which he found to be equally wonderful. I am looking forward to going back to further explore the menu at this wonderful little restaurant. By the way, Connie offers take-out dinners once a week, the menu being "her choice."

First time trying this place and it is good! I was very surprised by how hot the food was. I went to the gas station and starbucks and just got back and then Xu delivered the food. he must have been speeding because it was still hot. I appreciate that greatly. I tried the biscuits and gravy because the last time I had it elsewhere, it was not good. But this dish was great! it was a lot for me so I barely finished one biscuit of the Biscuits & Gravy. I didn't finish the stage and the inky thing I ate in its entirety was the scrambled egg. For the Little Piggy , it looked good but I didn't try it. However, all of it was eaten. And I really had a hankering for Pancakes, so I ordered that and it was good. I ate a quarter of it and then my bf finished all of the other plates. I will definitely order from this place again.

The building is Small but mighty good food. We have been to Connie's before and it never disappoints. Always plenty of food for the price and the service is always on point. Today we had biscuits and gravy. It came with eggs to order, hash browns and a sausage patty. Delicious on all fronts. Connie has been at this location for 11 years and she and her son have a great place. Plenty of to go orders for a Sunday at 8:00 am. Her bill comes with homemade specialty cookies. Today was orange, cherry, and white chocolate!! Divine!!

Visiting our family in Vista and they recommended for all of us to go to Connie's... I underestimated how great this food would be. I get why they have such amazing reviews! The food was so, so good. We ordered the grilled roast beef (delicious!), the western burger (delicious!), the Hawaiian burger (also delicious), the Reuben (oh my gosh so good), and three French dips... you can't go wrong with any of it! And she cooks everything herself, real marinated meats, slow cooking, and you can taste the difference in her food vs a standard processed restaurant. Can't wait to go back.

Perfectly perfect fluffy pancakes, soft fluffy eggs and delicious biscuits and gravy! Breakfast food done well and at a price point that won't break the bank. This is a neighborhood place and the customers call the owner, Connie, by name. It is a tiny little diner with additional seating outside. The decor has cute signs on the walls that you can read while you wait. This is how breakfast food is done right. Connie is no-nonsense so don't go in trying to customize stuff or you might get the side-eye. But you can see how much the owner cares for the regulars and when she has time she will stop and chat- but the place is busy so go early. This is a classic breakfast diner where you go to get good food- plain and simple. It's a local place and it's delicious. I wish there were more places like it.

Great food, generous portions and friendly service. They have outdoor seating, so you can bring your dog. The waitress brought water for ours. The food is really great. I ordered the vegetarian eggs benedict with spinach, mushrooms, avocado and tomato. It was AMAZING. My friend ordered the traditional eggs benedict. He said his was equally good. We went on a weekday morning and they were packed, so definitely a popular place to go. I don't recommend for take-out. They tend to not answer the phone when you call to order. read more

Been here a bunch of times when everywhere else is packed and everything here is always cooked correctly and savory. Never experience cold or bland microwaved potato's . The eggs are always cooked right , the toast is always warm and crunchy , the coffee is constantly refilled . The home made gravy's are probably the best I've ever had . And the staff is very nice and friendly even when it's super busy . I'm glad I found this place read more

I had lunch at Connie's Café today and I was very impressed. Connie and her Son run this small restaurant invite you in. Seat you and immediately ask for drink order and give you some time to review the menus. I had their Lulu Eggs Benedict which is perfect for Vegetarians with Avocado, Spinach, Tomatoes, Hollandaise Sauce and a perfectly poached egg. My friend had the Meatloaf and New England Clam Chowder. He said that he is very picky with Clam Chowder being that he is from New England. The smile that was on his face after the first bite told me that this one was great. The Meatloaf was equally made well. We will be visiting this establishment more often. read more

I'm vegan and although nothing specifically was said to be vegan or vegetarian on the menu, at Connie's I was able to still get something delicious in accordance to my type of lifestyle which I greatly appreciated. Definition of a local gem. They have great omelettes & pancakes! The owners are so sweet and make fresh delicious cookies to hand out with meals! We live in the neighborhood and love this local spot, we have made it a Sunday morning ritual to grab breakfast at connie's! read more

Came here for breakfast on a Sunday and had a n overall good experience. I took two stars away because we had to wait an hour for our food to be served. It was probably an off morning and so we understood that a small staff could mean long waits. The food didn't disappoint. It was warm when it came out and very filling. I'd recommend the Apple pie French toast but I wouldn't recommend the French dip sandwich. Our waiter was reassuring and he was pleasant so it was just a matter of time that reduced my experience. Come hungry but not too hungry! read more

Our experience was poor. A 6 minute wait outside and then seated inside at the door entrance and then a breakfast that takes 80 minutes is absurd. Tight, cramped, 10 minutes to get a cup of poor quality coffee, no napkins or utensils until the food was served. The food was acceptable, not great, (Mrs Butterworth's syrup.. really) but the overall experience including being "talked at" will insure there will be no return visit to this establishment b us. read more

Went here for breakfast. Not to bad at all. I don't give it a 5 star because the food was not amazing, but it was good. Also, there was not a lot of space and only had one waitress working with all tables full which led to longer wait times for coffee refills, etc. One older woman working the back (perhaps Connie?) was quite hilarious to watch and listen to here rather direct interaction with customers. She was a firecracker. I had the french toast, wife had pancakes. Both were good. Worth a visit, go early if you don't want to wait. read more

I hesitate to write this review as i love mom and pop places and really want them to be successful. Connies was not a pleasant experience for us, we went there for breakfast about two months ago and Connie was a little sharp/rude to us on two occassions. Perhaps she was stressed as she was doing everything by herself. As I am on a plant based diet Connie was generous enough to make me something that's not on the menu, unfortunately (although very tasty) it was so oily I could not eat much of it. We were also seated where we could see the kitchen and observed Connie taking spinach out of the bag with her bare hands. read more

The best biscuits and gravy in town I have been looking for a new place to eat breakfast been to several in town this is hands-down the best. And Connie is nice lady. And you get a free cookie after every meal. I had a root beer float cookie which was killer. She brought me out a sample of homemade corn beef hash which was extremely good. Perfect gooey omelette with big chunks of ham and crispy hash browns. The chef was hilarious too. Great sense of humor, friendly, and down to earth. I wished this place was open longer in the day. Maybe thats what makes it worth having, the fact that its not always readily available. She made the fluffiest pancakes I've ever had too. Way better texture than any iHop or Dennys. Great home cooking by a great mom. You also get a cookie with your bill! The cookie I had was a mint chocolate cinnamon cookie. Chewy center and lightly crispy edges. My kind of cookie! read more

Super tiny but delicious breakfast spot in Vista! My friend and I met here for breakfast around ten on a Friday and had no trouble getting a table - but I imagine there's a wait on the weekends! I had the corned beef hash with a side of fruit and my friend had an omelet. Both were fresh, delicious and very nicely priced! The reason I'm compelled to leave a review, however, is the cookie that came with my check! The cookie that day was a triple chocolate chip blueberry cookie ... it was amazing! If they were selling them by the bag I would have grabbed some in a heartbeat. Overall- great service, yummy food, fair prices and an amazing complimentary cookie to wrap it up ...I will definitely be back :) read more

Holy moly y'all! If you haven't been here yet, you must!!! They have been open two years and this is the first time we've eaten here. We couldn't be happier. Coffee wasn't my favorite. But who cares when the food is this good. My son, pickiest eater, loved everything they have! Pancakes were super fluffy. French toast was huge and delish! The little piggy omelette was shared and a perfect sized meal for two! Make sure you save room for the specialty cookies of the day! read more

Highly recommend!! Stumbled across Connie's last week with my boyfriend. We fell in love with the joint and of course, Connie! The food is home cooked, delicious and served by the sweetest lady on the block! I ordered the Bacon Benedict, and my boyfriend ordered a create your own omelet. Both entrees were amazing! So amazing we went back two days later, ordered the exact same things and plan to stop by every time we crave a homemade breakfast! Yummyyyyy! This little place is too freaking adorable! read more

The food and service were outstanding.I love cornbeaf hash and eggs but,I have been disappointed a lot.This was the best I've ever had.Great for family and the bonus were the apple and Cinnamon Toast Crunch cookies with the check. i live in the area, so i decided to check it out after driving by the place daily. connie is there by herself and she manages to cook, bus tables, and serve. we ordered eggs benedict, grilled cheese, and chicken fingers. all of it was good, but the benedict was the best and the hashbrowns were amazing. definitely want to come back soon. the chicken fingers were fresh and didn't come out of a microwave (like they do at most places) definitely not the place to go if you're in a rush, but worth the wait because everything is fresh. the cookie at the end was the best part of the meal. seriously want to go back just for the cookie now that i'm thinking about it ... read more

I ordered the fig burger with a side Caesar and my daughter had a cheese quesadilla. The burger and the salad were both amazing!! I mean look at all the yummy Parmesan on the Caesar!! My burger was cooked exactly the way I wanted it and it was absolutely delicious. We had the peanut butter pie for dessert and let me just tell you, I did not want to share it at all! It was so rich and yummy. The overall vibe is casual and fun and a lot of people were having a blast during happy hour. Our service was excellent throughout. This place is a nice balance of family friendly, casual date night, or a fun night out. I will definitely be back!

There's a patio, bar area, and table and booth seating. We ordered 3 sliders and onion rings to share. The sliders were 1) mushroom & Swiss, 2) Smokehouse BBQ, and 3) classic cheeseburger. Each of the sliders was unique and very flavorful, with well-seasoned beef patties and recognizable flavor profiles. My favorite was actually the mushroom & Swiss. The onion rings almost stole the show for me, believe it or not. They were some of the best onion rings I've ever had--light and tasteful breading, perfectly succulent onions. The ranch and bleu cheese they use are really nice too. Highly recommend this spot to any and all burger lovers or fans of epic onion rings!

There was a drink nearby, but no one was sitting there, and nobody in the group ever mentioned that the seat was being saved. What made the situation worse was the way it was handled by the owner. Instead of approaching us professionally, she appeared to be intoxicated and immediately became confrontational. She told us that we "didn't know who we were messing with" and threatened to have us kicked out over what was clearly a simple misunderstanding. As a business owner, professionalism and customer service should come first. There was no reason for customers to be spoken to in such a disrespectful and intimidating manner. A calm conversation could have resolved the issue in seconds. As we were leaving, even some of the employees apologized to us for the owner's behavior and the way the situation was handled. It was clear that they recognized how inappropriate and unprofessional the interaction had been. It wasn't like it was that busy, there was enough seating area. The owner's behavior created an uncomfortable and hostile environment over something that should never have escalated in the first place. Being threatened and spoken down to by the person who owns the business is unacceptable. Based on this experience, I would not recommend this establishment to others.

In response to Laura R. I was here the day this happened. Laura could not have been there for more than 20 minutes and caused a scene for no real reason. She also cursed out the guests seated inside while Connie tried to take care of us. Laura also dropped multiple f bombs inside the restaurant where kids were seated. She's the worst kind of customer from what I saw. I hope I never have to start my morning breakfast anywhere near you again. Connie is a 1 person show and this is a community spot.
