Then, Dave and his team stopped by to temporarily cover the leaks with clear tarps so that my solar panels could still work. Robert was the project manager; he scheduled all the work and followed up daily. The crew arrived on time every day and finished the entire project in 5 days. What impressed me most was the cleanup--they ran magnets over the yard to ensure no nails were left behind. Anytime one has to make a decision about such a large investment, there is a lot to stress about regarding money, materials, the process, logistics etc. Not with Westshore. They are not only very knowledgeable, but the level of professionalism and pride is something that you will not get with all companies. Just our new roof installed and the whole process was pretty painless. Company was very responsive to questions and problems. Some minor issues we had were fixed right away! I'm a pain in the ass because I'm very particular and OCD and they were very patient with me LOL! They were not the cheapest but I feel was very worth it. There were some nails and debris left around the house, but not crazy. We saw them patrolling the yard after every day of work. Roof took a day or so longer than expected because we (of course) picked the hottest week of the year to have it installed, like pushing 110!! Our house was completely reshinghed last Dec 2023 by Westshore Roofing. They did an excellent job on the tile removal and general cleanup. Later that same day the crew who would install the new shingle showed up. They inspected and identified rotten boards that needed to be replaced and started to replace the boards. They spread out the tar paper or underlay paper that had to go down before they started to shingle. The headman told us the roof should have been water tight if there was any rain. The home owner came home in the afternoon and noticed the tar paper was lifting up of the roof as the wind blew across the house. I went up to take a look and found the paper wasn't stapled down very well. I used an almost full pack of staples all over the roof to attach the paper. The next day they continued to repair the rotten wood and lay some shingles, and at noon it started to rain. The crew got ready to leave and we saw several areas were exposed to the rain. The crew headman then apologetically said his crew was not doing a good job. Errors occurred two days in a row were not accepted. We then sent the pictures and video we took to the project representative, Ben. We also told the headman that a section of gutter that would need replacing, but it never happened. Also some of the facia boards were not properly replaced (too short) and some trim boards were also too short and different thickness sizes. After they have finished the job, and we have paid the final bill on 12/11/23, we found gutter was not replaced and the facia boards and trim boards were not fixed either. We sent an email on Dec. 26, 2023 to Westshore owner, Paul, about the above problems, and they quickly sent someone to take a look at the next day. He measured the length of gutter needed to be replaced and looked at issues needed to be addressed. They didn't come back to fix it or quoted the gutter price. On Jan. 3, the City inspector came to inspect the roof. I told him about the problem. The inspector said they only inspected how the roof was shingled, and that was it. If we have other issues, we need to directly contact the roofing company. So we sent a second email on 1/3/24 to Paul and asked if he got a quote for us to replace the gutter; and also when the boards would be fixed. He didn't respond. We thought he was busy, so we waited and waited. We finally had to hire a separate gutter contractor to install the gutter. But the the roof boards were still not fixed yet (see attached pictures). We are very dissatisfied with Westshore's lack of response to our concerns. Regret we chose the roofing company to reroof our house. read more

I regret having given Westshore roofing a glowing review, practically when theirs were scarce on Yelp. Update: There have been leaks in my expensive metal roof, and I have been chasing this company to look at their own job. No such luck -- after months of sending emails/texts to basically a black-hole. To summarize the high quality work they initially did many years ago, they also missed putting a downspout (which they thankfully added a couple of year later, when I found out). But the rats constantly ruled my house until I realized the roofer had not plugged any valley or hip where there were gaps. I fixed that very painful issue on my own! read more

I want to share our experience with Westshore Roofing, who helped replace our leaky old tile roof in our home, replacing with asphalt shingles, replaced gutters and downspouts, and installed gutter screens as well. We worked very closely with Terry Zheng, who we have worked with before, and is a trusted agent for us. Terry came out and inspected our roof and saw the extent of the repairs needed, and fairly quickly recommended a whole roof replacement, given the age of our home and roof, the conditions seen upon inspection, and the surrounding neighborhood homes. We got other bids and quotes of course, and others thought that some patchwork repairs would be good enough. Terry was very consistent in his recommendation, and said if it were his home, he would do the whole roof repair. After comparing quotes and discussing with our family, we decided to go with Westshore, thinking that a whole roof repair would uncover all issues, perhaps cost a bit more than patchwork repairs, but would give us the certainty that all parts of the roof would be looked at and repaired. In retrospect, that decision was the best decision we could've made. Terry gave us a quote for the roof repair, and gave a rough estimate of the wood needed, but said that they wouldn't know the extent of the wood repair until the existing roof was removed. And as it turned out, the extent of wood damage was significant, and ended up dramatically increasing the cost of the repair. But, as we calculated, the patchwork repairs would have also been very expensive and would take more time if we continued, and it would only partially address our issues. With the whole roof repair, we were more certain that all issues of the roof would be resolved. The overall experience, from demo to install to finish with their main crew of 4-5 workers was first rate. They were on-time, professional, cleaned up everything, and didn't ask for any money (save for the $1000 deposit) until all of the supplies were purchased and repairs started. Once the wood repairs were known, Terry gave us an "all-in, no-nonsense" quote, and they stuck to that. A separate gutter crew came in after the roof was complete to install new gutters, downspouts, and screens. And finally, a touch-up crew came up to clean up some things we mentioned, all with no additional cost. Initial and final inspections passed with no issue. We paid our final balance once everything was complete, and never got any hassle from the company. Communication with the front office (Rob) was smooth, all of our questions and requests were answered promptly, and the roof looks great. We are very happy with the final product and service and would absolutely recommend Westshore Roofing to anyone looking for roof repair or replacement. Westshore roofing replaced my roof, gutters, added Suntunnels and extra insulation in 2012. It's been 9 years and my roof still looks great. The warranty expires in 6 months so they willingly came out and fixed a few items that came up on an inspection report for a very small fee. I could not have been happier that they stood by their work. I hired them back in 2012 because they did my neighbors roof and they were very pleased, had great references, and the price was fair. Come to find out they also re-did my in-laws roof many years ago. The only thing I'd do differently was to go with rolled insulation rather than blown in insulation. We highly recommend Westshore Roofing! We had them replace one roof tile after our electrician had to drill a new hole in the existing tile through which a new power mast (for power lines going to our house) was installed. The mast had to move slightly relative to the old mast location because of our new electrical panel. Westshore's crew put a new tile in place which fit perfectly around the new mast (split around it since the power lines connected to it did not permit sliding something around it). They sealed it up well around the mast and with existing tiles and we are very pleased with the result. They were happy to work with our schedule of when PG&E and our electrician would be ready. On the day of the repair, they arrived promptly and got the job done quickly. We also had Westshore come out a few years ago to repair some weather damage on another part our roof and we were impressed with the quality of their work. Sven and team are top notch. I needed new gutters installed on my house. Sven came out to give the estimate. He was great and the work went as planned. Once the rainy season hit I noticed a problem with the gutters across the front of my porch. I have two gutters that run perpendicular to each other and the upper one dumps onto the roof above the porch (lower) gutter. I think the water coming off the upper gutter isn't going into the lower gutter as it seems to sheet off creating a stream of water that splashes on the porch and onto anyone walking by. I texted Sven to see if someone can take a look to see if an adjustment can be made. He sent someone out to make some adjustments, tested the solution and even sent me a video showing me the fix and the results. Excellent service, communication, and followup! read more

I wrote a review 6 years ago with 3 stars due to some communication & speed issues. But it was resolved well. Be sure to have new gutters PRIMED (not just "bonderized" ) before/with installation. The owner provided a reply to the review and I have to set some things straight. This trim/flashing he says he absorbed the pricing for is his workers fault and he should indeed pay for it. When I was given the estimate I was told they would save it to be used again. Its metal. When they removed it, it was literally ripped off my roof thus destroying it. As they were clearly beginning to start applying the new tile I asked the "foreman" about it and he knew nothing about it or that it was to be saved. He knew nothing about it being replaced. When I told him that I was told they were to save is and use it again, he again said he knew nothing about it. The following day I walked out and he motioned to me and said he had spoken to his boss and that's when I was informed that they would indeed be replacing it cause they destroyed it and shouldn't have so that was how they were fixing their error. When this paul guy says "he called me with a daily update" that isn't true. He never called me, not once. I on the other hand called them and after talking to receptionist or my alleged job foreman (I guess everyone is a foreman or project manager there cause I had one sitting behind a desk there and another here at my home) I usually ended up getting transferred to this paul guy, apparently the owner and rather sensitive male, and that is the only way I got an update. I called them and they never called me, not daily, not ever once the job started. As more and more $$$ was being added the the project I called multiple times for a bill or invoice and they always found ways to never supply it. I was promised that some "person" in accounting would email it to me, multiple times but that never happened. After a couple calls I finally got someone to send me something by email. His break in pricing for supplies are like multiple times more expensive than if I provided it myself so he is greatly exaggerating that he gave me a fair price in materials. The initial bid was good but what I had the deal with after was a horrible experience I would never wish on anyone, not even my worse enemy. read more

Update: just pick another roofing, 2 years later, I'm extending my house, called this business to ask for supplier for the gutter they installed on my roof as my contractors need to extended the roof, they refused to give me info and keep saying their roofing guys will need to come out to check the property for a fee for the info. What this tell you is that, you should have 0 expectation after you pay if you choose to work with them, they didn't do a good job at first, doing worst after, lots of businesses out there, just try a different one for peace of mind. read more

When signing a contract, pay attention to the exuberant prices in section "Dry Rot Repair" - especially lines beginning with "Replace rotted or damaged ... roof boards ...". For each replaced board you will be charged a huge amount of money. Ask the foreman to show you each damaged board and explain what is wrong with it and why it must be replaced. I made the mistake of not asking for this and my dry rot repair bill turned out to be more than $7000.  Also, if there are any findings during the final inspection, ask the inspector to write these down in the final inspection report. In my case, the inspector signed off on paper, then verbally mentioned that there were unpainted areas under the gutters that must be painted. When I asked Westshore Roofing to fix the problem, they tried to scare me - said that it will cost me more than $2000 to remove all gutters, apply the missing paint, then install new gutters. I refused to make my final payment until the problem was fixed. At the end, it took Westshore Roofing three hours to fix the problem without replacing any gutters. read more

There was a slight snafuu during the installation of the roof but they remedied it right away and I hired them for the installation of the roof on another house. Even with covid-19, they are able to provide the proper materials and keep the schedule. Job site is always clean and organized from time to time. My house is 40+ years with old roof tile, for some reasons there were no plywood/tar paper. it was hot during the summer. While WFH due to covid-19, and I started to realize the heat.
