A sense of place. It's what defines your experience. It could be the best dive bar you ever discovered, or it could be an ultra luxe lounge; it's whatever creates your vibe. Now, if a place is seriously lacking in vibe... Hello, Conshohocken. I get that many breweries are located in reclaimed post-industrial spaces; in fact, it's almost a cliché at this point. But you can do it right- like Burlington Beer's new space in the South End, and create an inviting space. Or, you can work with what ya got, and let your beers be the star. That's how I'll generously describe the Conshy strategy. A place with zero curb appeal, minimal signage, and a general off-putting gateway atmosphere, which isn't helped by the long narrow entry into a rather small, dingy, unremarkable space. But...clearly this place is cyclist nirvana. The Schuylkill Trail is literally steps away off the back deck, and biking bros were streaming in at the 12:00 opening call (I guess the heard the garage door going up). Nothing harshes my vibe faster than a cluster of sweaty dudes impinging on my personal space. Hello, Brohemians, IT'S STILL A PANDEMIC. But I digress...I love their beer, Puddler's Row in particular is an outstanding ESB, and I picked up a fresh drop of Ring the Bell, which again is a four-star beer in my book. This place can get crowded and a bit loud since it's not a large space. The beers/ciders are a hefty pour and I honestly didn't even finish 1 cider. Food options are a bit limited for vegetarian/vegan options, but my friends enjoyed the quick bites. I'd recommend coming here for apps before dinner or to grab drinks post meal. Stopped here on the spur of the moment to get away from traffic. And I'm glad I did! Decent beer menu, to-go cans, and a small menu of food makes this a good stop. Favorite beer is the Philly Vice, not too sour but more of a tart Berliner Weisse. My meal was a Bratwurst sandwich and chips, which was simple but effective. So here's the thing: there is nothing bad or unsatisfactory about this brewery. Walking in, you get a view of the brewery itself, which sets the vibe. Inside, it's cozy and casual, with a beautiful view of the ridge. It's much cozier than any brewery we've been to recently, and feels very homey. The staff are friendly, the beer is SUPER reasonably priced, there are plenty of comfy tables to sit at, and the music is nice. Limited food selection, but it's good food. None of the beers are bad--but most of them weren't standouts when we went. We liked all of them, didn't LOVE any of them. We will definitely be coming back but it's mostly for the atmosphere and the fact that you can't pick a bad beer here. Also, we cannot overstate how affordable it is. If you aren't a big brewery person and aren't looking for the really weird beers, this is a perfect brewery for you and a great place to start. We also think it's kid friendly. read more

We have experienced CBC beers at local beer festivals and finally got a chance to drop by the Conshohocken location. Small, but lively space. We started at the bar and moved to a table when friends arrived. I am an IPA drinker and Type A became my go to for the evening. I did also enjoy Viking Funeral. I mean wow! So smooth. Way smoother than that other PA honey ale. Will be back when we are in the area. read more

One of the best places for a good beer in the Greater Philadelphia area is at the Conshohocken Brewing Company. The challenge is that you have to find it. It's actually easier to reach by bike via the popular Schuylkill River bike trail. You see the Conshy Brewery lies directly on this path and one can then enter the brew pub from the back deck. Anyway there are always good and freshly brewed beers to be had here. I thought their English bitter called Puddlers Row ESB was awesome. In contrast to the bitter, the Blueberry Berliner Weisse has an interesting fruity/sour combo exploding in your mouth. To eat I ordered the Horne hot dog with Tito's chili and a little sauerkraut and it was a perfect accompanier to the different brews. You can order beer in multiple sizes here which is totally cool as it allows you to try many of their offerings at a fair price. Now check this out - the Braumeister Andrew Horne has lived in both Vienna and Salzburg in Austria and speaks Austrian German while the bartender Scott spent a week in Vienna a few years ago. Cool! I feel like I should've arrived on a bike after looking at a sampling of the other reviews. Unfortunately, I'm a terrible bike rider, but I [finally] made it here after work Friday with a large group. This is a beer-only review since I didn't try any of their food...but I did see others order some and it all looked really good. Five stars for appearance! As for the beer, I assembled a fairly mixed flight: a blonde, an ESB, a festbier and a vanilla porter. The surprising standout? The ESB. This is only the second time in the whole [very short] history of me liking beer that I've actually enjoyed an ESB. Others agreed that it was an exceptional choice. While the other samples were good, they weren't on the level of "must drink this again soon!" I'd be curious to try their regular porter, and, of course, a stout as winter creeps in. CBC is situated in a nice facility, and I like how accessible their brews are in the neighboring communities (who doesn't love Tandem?). Definitely will be back at some point. read more

I've heard so many of my biker-friends rave about this place, so I wanted to make this a stop along the way of my latest round-trip cycle from Philadelphia to Valley Forge. I timed it so my stop was on my way back to Philly and I'd be primed for a nice, cold beer - and I couldn't have been happier with how accessible this place is, the welcoming service I received from the bartender, the choice of brews, and all the fellow bikers who stop off here. For this review, I can only attest to the crispy-delicious Summer Love beer that I had; which was perfect after 50 miles on the summer trail! It's your standard, light & fruity Summer Love that is served in so many places. But the breadth of selection of other beers should make it so anyone can find something they like here. I paid $6 for the Summer Love + tip; not that far off from Center City Philadelphia type prices, but respectable to support a cool business like the CBC is. Don't worry, I took about a half hour of chitchats with the locals, and a few swigs of water to re-hydrate before I left - so let's make it clear that I did not drink & drive/bike! Hahaa The bike racks are practically overflowing-full most every time I pass by here, but I was so glad to easily get a spot in the middle of the afternoon - as I don't come through this way very often. And there are a lot of folks who bike here - the trail-facing deck & yard are full of them mixing and mingling with another! Folks were pretty friendly here, as is typical for a suburban/hipster type place. Indoors was much smaller than I had imagined; there are decent amounts of tables, but they were all full - and I'm guessing that a wait for tables occurs rather often for most folks. If you are here to eat, obviously you'd want a table or find an open seat at the bar. I look forward to making this a more regular stop on a journey through the Schuylkill River Trail! read more

over the years, there has been a steady decline in the quality of food, the quality of the beer, and certainly the level of service. now we are at the point where you sit outside at a table that hasn't been cleaned, order from a window, and roll the dice and wait to see how long it takes to get what is now relatively mediocre food. it's unfortunate, this was my favorite neighborhood place. now there are so many places whose food, beverage, and service, far exceed it. after my wife and I Left last Friday, two hamburgers, one appetizer, one beer each, $65 before a tip. and who do I tip? The person who spent around 15 seconds to carry my food to me. The person who never came to clean the tables. Certainly not worth it. not sure we will go back anymore. again, it's unfortunate, because this place was terrific. I don't want to settle for the "it's the pandemic" excuse, anymore. This place was out of control busy for their 4 year anniversary party. That mixed with the 80 degree weather in April that everyone has been waiting for made for a perfect storm of day drinking. The space lends super well to dog meet ups and outdoor lounging but every seat in the house was taken so our choices were to sit on the grassy area outside or stand in the taproom area so we stood and we liked it. Stopped by for a drink the other day while exploring the neighborhood. The space is small, but luckily the sun was shining so we were able to take advantage of the deck out back. There is a good amount of standing room out there, but I think it would be cool if they could expand the deck even more and add some tables and chairs as well. The beer I selected was the Blueberry Berliner Weisse. It was very refreshing and a tasty pick for the summer. Fruity beers can be hit-or-miss, but I'm happy to report that this one was well-balanced and not too sweet. One recommendation I would make is to add the style of beer to all of the names listed on the chalkboard. Some of them had them, some did not. My boyfriend and I were checking Untappd before ordering to look up what was what for any beers that only had a name listed. Overall a fun little place and somewhere I'd stop by again if I was in the area. read more

Based on the pictures I've seen on their website and on Yelp, I knew that the Conshohocken Brewing taproom wasn't a huge spot, but it was a little smaller than I had expected. Working with a smaller room as it is, I was a little surprised that, in my opinion, I feel like there was a lot of space being under-utilized as standing room where more tables would have sufficed. In comparison to other local taprooms, I feel like the ratio of patrons sitting vs standing is a little imbalanced here. The beer at Conshy is always good, not a single issue there. Most of the ones I wanted to try were available, and of course everything tasted super fresh. We scoped out the menu online before going so we could make a decision on whether or not to grab food there. We decided we would eat there after seeing a decent set of options on the menu. Though when we got there, I was surprised to see that the food prep area was right out there behind the bar. It consisted of a woman in a cramped-looking corner with a little hot surface, a toaster oven and a tiny prep area. The proximity of the food to everyone bustling around and lack of a proper prep area made me feel like anything off the menu would probably fall flat. I understand that it's a taproom and food isn't the focus, but it seems like they should either have designed it better or just didn't have it at all. It looked clean and sanitary but I didn't feel like it was well-thought-out, so I ultimately decided against getting food there and going somewhere else afterwards. I plan on visiting their Brewpub in Bridgeport soon. Given Conshohocken Brewing has a track record of good beer and a great local word-of-mouth, I'm looking forward to seeing if the Brewpub has more space available that I feel would resolve some of the issues at the Taproom. read more

I wanted some good bar food at a brewery. We happen to be close by, saw that they had good reviews, so we gave it a try. Although the ambience is awesome (it's a cool old building which they decorated nicely with a wide open feel) the food is horrible! My husbads salad was slimy like they used old lettuce. I had a seasonal flatbread which was to have seasonal veggies on it. It's Fall...seasonal means, squash, apples, pumpkins, cauliflower, spinach.... not broccoli, onions and peppers...which is all that was on this non-toasted, cold white bread. It was nasty. My kids got the typical kids meals, mac and cheese and a burger (apple sauce comes in the plastic sealed container from Costco). Not impressive. I'd never come back, the beers were ok, but if you're looking for some good picky food to go with it, stear clear of this place. read more

This wasn't advertised on their website during my first visit so I didn't show up with an appetite (photo of what was offered during my visit is posted). Nothing too fancy, just some little snacks to keep everyone satiated. Second (and just as important), its dog friendly! The place is small but welcoming. I'm guessing that it can accommodate up to around 60 people. Board games are available to play with friends in addition to a shuffleboard. I'm assuming that nobody would care if guests brought along their own games. Flights are charged per beer, not a flat rate. Cost of a 4oz beer will vary between $2-3. As I've stated in previous Yelp reviews, beers are tough to judge as everyone has a different palate. What I will indicate here is that CBC offers a little bit of everything. They do not specialize in any particular style of beer (such as Porters or IPAs) so this is a good place for everyone to check out. read more

Went after a convention held at the Expo center in Oaks, PA. I'd say that the brewery itself had a typical brewery look. Nice little bar with tables and chairs in the center. They did have a nice looking outdoor area that overlooks the bike trail and river. The beer is what makes me a fan. The Puddlers row ESB was excellent. No wonder it won the silver at the World Beer Cup for two years. The Type A, Blueberry Berliner Weisse, Blood Money, MC5, and Hop Life were all very good. I really liked the Doll's Eye CDA. The only one that fell short for me was the Mr. Robusto Porter. Nice servers also. read more

I'm not sure who enjoys Conshy Brewing more, me or my dog! Whenever she sees that we're headed to the brewery she knows she will be receiving lots of love and treats from the great bartenders. All of the staff are excellent. The selection of beer is robust. Available year round they have a sour, an ESB, a few IPAs, and a pilsner. Additionally available are seasonal selections, including my absolute favorite, The Oats Magoats, an oatmeal stout. This place had promise. I was excited for this new brewery for the area, however there are numerous problems. Lets start by getting there. If you are not familiar with Conshohocken you may have issues finding this place. It sits on a one way street, with no signs or markings to notify you where it is at. The only way I was able to figure I was in the right spot was due to seeing the large brewing vats through a window. The brewery sits in an industrial area & with no signs it blends into its surroundings. Good luck finding it... The bar is actually a two car garage. Seriously, there are two garage doors that open up onto a deck. The walls are grey cinder brick. The whole place lacks any personality, outside of the pretty wooden bar and chalkboard beer list. They have a touch screen juke box, which you can not hear because the place is extremely loud. The "two car garage" was crowded with people talking, standing shoulder to shoulder. It was extremely crowded, making it a frat like atmosphere. Its also not warm enough to have the garage doors open. I could tell most of the women were freezing. I came for the Double IPA, which was kicked so I had their Pale Ale. It was alright, not the best, but def not the worst Ive ever had. My wife had the Coffee Stout. It was good. Both of us approve it. There is no food. If there is food, there is no where to comfortably eat it. If you were able to get a table/seat, there are too many people crowding around, yell talking. Like I originally said, this place had promise. I really wanted to like this place. I just cant. There is nothing I can truly say positively. I believe most of these issues could be addressed and in the future maybe this establishment may change my mind. Knowing that this place was small, I tried it on a less busy night. It is located near the trail, so anyone can stop by after a bike ride or run. I love Pilsners, so the waiter recommended a Golden Ale. It was a good beer. What I love about this place is that I can order beers in the 4 oz, 8 oz or 16 oz size. The 4 oz is perfect for sampling all the different beers they have here. The prices aren't bad. The different choices for food are small, but I hope they expand their menu. This place is a great addition to Conshohocken and I will definitely come back. read more

I found that most people who really love this place are from conshohocken and are proud of their own brewery. I've been here a few times and then finally stopped going. I haven't been there in over a year I think... What I loved most about this place, was that they offered various size glasses for a fair price per ounce. The 8 ounce is exactly twice the price of a four ounce pour. It's a great way to make your own flight. I found the service to be slow. One time, I wanted to buy beer and waited for over seven minutes for the staff to fill water bottles for some bike riders. Behind the bar isn't designed for speed. The beer is below average and I've told my friends I think it tastes like home-brews I've made. I could also be brewing amazing beers at home that just aren't my style. If you can find Conshohocken Brewing Company on the street, it is definitely worth the trip. It's fairly easy to reach, although the front is very unassuming, so keep your eyes peeled. If you take the Schuylkill River Trail, you can just ride or run up to the back deck. I had a pint of the porter that they had just tapped that morning, which was refreshing and a good example of the style. It looked like it was going to be watery, but it ended up having a nice thickness to it. I also had an 8-ounce pour of my favorite Conshy brew (Tandem Amber Ale). I was a little hungry as well, so I grabbed a bowl of the beef chili, which was fantastic--lots of beef and pepper flakes that had a nice heat. I was also able to try my friend's flight, which included an IPA and an English-style brown ale. I have never been to a brewery where the prices were quite so cheap. Between my drinks (a pint and an 8-ounce), my friend's flight and pint, and my bowl of chili, the entire bill only came out to $22 and change. I actually think the food was more expensive than beer, which is always welcome at a microbrewery! Conshy Brewing Co is characterized by its small space and friendly bartenders. When I walked in around 6 PM (only an hour after opening), it was rather quiet, but it started to get lively around 7:30 PM. Visited the location for the first time last night and absolutely loved the location. Little difficulty finding a place to park since we drove, but the fact that it's right on the bike path is great. As a cyclist I loved reading a review that said they're will to fill water bottles. The set up is nice with a wide open porch, and pleasant selection of tables Onto the beer (at least the ones we had). Mostly writing this because earlier this summer I had their blood orange IPA (Blood Money) and it officially became my favorite beer. I had the ESB (Pulling Row?) and it definitely lives up to the expectation. I found it delicious and my girlfriend who doesn't usually like ESBs enjoyed it as well. So for a person who isn't a traditional ESB drinking it'd be an awesome beer to experiment with. My girlfriend had the session IPA and it was very nicely done. After riding past this place many times and longing to stop, my husband and I finally decided to make this a destination for one of our bike rides. We were conveniently able to leave our bikes on one of the two racks next to the Schuylkill River Trail. Most people didn't lock their bikes but we decided to lock ours. We left our helmets and water bottles with the bikes and came back to them with no problem. Ok so now for the good, the bad and the odd. The good: The beer was pretty good! We got a four beer sampling flight with the Blonde, Saison, IPA and Belgian IPA. All four were tasty and good for what they were supposed to be. We also ordered a soft pretzel to split. It was large, fresh and hot perfectly hitting the spot. Our total bill was under $10- score! The service was pretty speedy. They also have a juke box with a great selection. We heard one of our favorite songs while we were in there and we weren't even the ones to select it. The bad: The place was swarming with bugs. I understand they keep the back door/window open but they were constantly all over us. I would have stayed for another round but I was being eaten alive. The odd: At one point one of the employees came over to our table and asked us if she could scoot our table back a few inches. We complied but had no idea why we were asked to do that. No one came to the table behind us and we weren't in anyone's way. This scooting seemed like it could have waited until we were gone.
