Never bought anything at the Hancock location, but I have consigned plenty of stuff there. Didn't care so much about the 50/50 split since I just wanted to get rid of the stuff. Great place and looks to be a bargain if you know what you want. Lots of cool things to look at with more furniture down stairs. Some of the bedroom and desk furniture looked like it has been there for a long time but you sure can find a variety. The outside patio area could use some TLC and clean up the weathered items. I rarely give one star, but this place was really bad. The stuff they have isn't that great of quality for starters. It's clear that it's "second hand", which is no problem for me especially for wood pieces. However, this place is so ridiculously overpriced. We were shocked! The high prices literally became a joke to us as we strolled through the store. There was a dirty, old sofa with a flower pattern from the 1960s that they wanted $40 for. What??? It's something you would see on the "FREE" section of Craigslist. Yet, they think they will get $40 for it! Overall it was just a very bizarre experience. I will NOT be back!! read more

A little over 3 months ago, we dropped of for them to sell, a pair of very nice, high quality, exterior wall lights that were purchased out of an Old Spaghetti Factory that closed down years ago. Also, a very nice leather bar stool. When we dropped them off they said they would display them properly to sell. They also said after a couple weeks, the price would drop and after a couple weeks later, it would drop again if not selling. So over 3 months go by and we hadn't heard anything from them, so we stopped by. We found the lights, sitting o separate shelves, in pieces, also scattered on different shelves. Pieces that would of, if lost, made the lights worthless. And, they were still priced at the original price. The shelves were full of miscellaneous junk like games, small kitchen appliances and other stuff you would find left over from an estate or yard sale. We immediately gathered the items and, after searching the area, all the separated pieces and complained to the guy at the counter. Very little eye contact, no apology at all, he just said "well, we can't control what customers do." We told him we were taking the items and he didn't even respond. He couldn't of cared less. The place has become like any other junky thrift store. They don't care about your items, they don't even keep track of them to do mark downs or to make sure they are displayed properly. As we were leaving, two elderly women asked the same clerk where their artwork was that they dropped of to sell. They said they looked through everything. The clerk simply said, "we're not responsible for finding your stuff. It's on the contract you signed when you dropped your stuff of." Coincidence that that happened the same time we had a similar type issue on how they display items and keep track of them? I don't think so! I think it happens all the time and that this place has so much stuff, they couldn't care less about your items. They just stick it out there, forget about it and hope it sells eventually so they can get their inflated cut. Horrible place to do business! Don't give them your business as there's other, much more professionally ran consignment stores in the area. read more

OK, so we are still looking for a bedroom set and a couch. WOW, three weeks ago and I though this place had gone downhill. However I was surprised at the transformation. Did not find a couch, but we did find a very cool bedroom set and would have bought another one if we had the room. The clothes were in a separate area. DO NOT miss the downstairs area. I was at Kobys swap meet and saw the store on Kurtz street outside, so I went in. WOW, that's a massive store and no one to bug me!! I could look at all the furniture and shop on my own! I needed to get several bedrooms in my house furnished. First thought I had was hey when I go to my neighborhood consignment shop. These guys are the best! I don't want in there with her specific budget in mind and came out with enough money left over for a very good dinner. I usually find something I can use. Pricing for the most part is fair. they do reduce things after 30 days and some people know how to read the codes so you can watch pricing. If you bring it to the desk, they will tell you when it will be reduced. Not all price reductions are marked. They do get one of a kind stuff which makes even wandering through there a fun experience. read more

What a scam! Tried to sell some furniture, and they played some really scummy games. Emailed with some pictures and they said they'd be interested, so I took some furniture down to their Hancock location. They quoted me a decent price but then said it required $75 for steam cleaning, for just 2 square yards of fabric that was in great shape, just a little dusty. I said I'd rather donate it elsewhere, because that would cost me nearly the full price of the item. Only after I started the car to leave, they said they would waive the cleaning fee if I took it to their other location, so I said okay. Took it over there, waited half an hour, and then they wanted me to put the furniture together. I started to do that and then asked for a quote before I finished. He quoted me about HALF of the price that they had given me earlier! I gave him the quote from the Hancock location, and he refused to honor it. They are just trying to take advantage of people. They could have easily given me a fair price and made some money but instead chose to make an enemy. Not good business, don't support this kind of thing! read more

We found a couple of tables with chairs that were in our range and fell in love with one! The guy who helped us out was very patient and answered all our questions! The best hidden treasure and the nicest folk who work there!! I found an ironing board for $5.00 (perfect condition), a corkboard for $5.00, a beautiful picture for $3.00, an amazing dresser for $500 - they let me ''hold'' it without payment for 24 hrs so I could check the measurements and then helped me load into my truck. They were helpful, courteous and the selection is amazing. Everything from beds, to office furniture to sofas, end tables, pictures, frames, mirrors and lots of ''çhachkis'' all competitively priced. You really need to go here before you go to Ikea. I'm thrilled at what I got and the quality is fantastic. A superb local shop - go no further! read more

This place is a fun find with two locations in San Diego - about 10 minutes drive or less apart. It can be hit or miss but it's always a fun place to check out if you are into home decorating. Prices are really reasonable. Sometimes you will find that perfect piece for your home and other times you will just find entertainment in looking around. This store has a large inventory of "liquidation" furniture (cheesy model home type stuff), plus a smaller selection of sometimes interesting consignment pieces - both modern and antique. Some nice pieces can be found at reasonable prices. However, be advised that if you PAY for a piece and do not immediately take it with you, that these nincompoops immediately place your piece OUTSIDE directly on the concrete under a flimsy temporary picnic type sun relief thing, exposing it to the elements. There are 2 of the sun covers with a gap about 5 inches between them - nothing to stop the rain from running down and across the legs or base of the piece, and nothing to stop the wind from blowing the rain onto the piece. When questioned about this set-up, the employee responded, "well that's our policy, we don't have room for the pieces once you pay for them". Well what about the spot that it was sitting in at time of purchase? Delivery or pickup must be made within 5 days so it's not like purchases sit there forever. The spot where our pieces were sitting at time of purchase was sitting empty, while our pieces were sitting outside only partially protected from the rain. Not a good policy if you want repeat business. read more

Went there a few days ago just to see what they had in the store. Not impressed, the place smells, the floor is dirty and the furniture is just so so. They have stands of old costume jewelry that should just be tossed in the dump. There are racks of odds and ends, found a shelf but the price was way too much. If what they have on the floor is considered classic then perhaps they should look up the word "classic" in the dictionary. read more

Read the fine print before consigning with them.This is the second time my husband and I have consigned with this place, but never again. It seems that one of our two items sold only AFTER the contract was up and the other item just plain disappeared. I love this store! I have also become sort of addicted to going in just to see what's new. I've bought a leather couch $260, end table- $29, a new shabby table for DVR & stuff- $250, new mattress- $399- we love it more than our Tempurpedic that we sold when we moved back to San Diego! an 8x12 rug for $19 that is gorgeous! a Jute rug for $99. We always have received great customer service and everyone is friendly. It's a quirky fun place to shop. My favorite one is on Hancock Street but today I'm heading over to their new store on Sports Arena Blvd. I'll let you know what I think about it. read more
