A Turkish gem in Gastonia that turned a first date into something memorable I'll start with the room. Constantine's pulls off that rare balance -- relaxed but elevated. Warm lighting, Turkish textiles, the kind of space that lets you exhale the second you sit down. We stayed nearly until closing and never once felt rushed. Now the food. I came hungry and curious, and the kitchen delivered. Imam Bayildi (appetizer) -- This is the dish that tells you whether a Turkish kitchen knows what it's doing, and theirs does. Eggplant braised until silky, sweet with onion and tomato, finished in good olive oil. No bitterness, no greasiness -- just that slow-cooked depth where you can taste the patience. I could've made this a main and walked out happy. Karniyarik (my main) -- The heartier cousin of the Imam Bayildi: eggplant stuffed with seasoned ground meat, tomato, and peppers. Rich, savory, comforting. The meat was well-spiced without drowning out the vegetable, and the whole thing held together beautifully. This is honest, soulful cooking. Vegetables in Casserole (her plate) -- Fresh, clean, well-seasoned. You could taste that the vegetables were cooked with intention, not just thrown together. A vegetarian dish that actually respects the vegetables. The bread service -- Two rounds of hot flatbread with their signature dipping sauce, and yes, we asked for the second round. Pillowy, fresh, clearly made in-house. The sauce had real character. This alone tells you they care about the details. Turkish black tea -- The proper way to end a Turkish meal. Strong, aromatic, served the traditional way. A perfect close. Service was attentive without hovering -- they let us have our evening. Health score is spotless, portions are generous, and everything tasted fresh and made-to-order. If you're in Gaston County and want authentic Turkish food done with care -- kebabs, mezes, eggplant dishes that taste like somebody's grandmother is back in that kitchen -- this is the spot. My first time at Constantines did not disappoint! I loved the Turkish decor in the restaurant and the beautiful videos of Turkiye playing on the televisons. The menu offered a wide arrange of choices and included colored pictures. The waitstaff and manger were friendly and welcoming. I ordered HAYDARI yogurt with herbs and garlic for appetizer It was also served with a lighted candle that was made of butter, which was edible. For my entree I ordered the SULTAN stuffed chicken breast and for dessert I had the KADAYIF A turkish pastry with pistachios and ice cream. Everything was delivered with a beautiful presentation and tasted equally delicious. It was an amazing experience. Just finished enjoying our 1st meal at Constantines. White tablecloths, water goblets, good silverware in a Turkish dining environment. Their food is absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. We had the best tasting Humus ever as an appetizer. We dined on a 1st rate Adana Kebab with yogurt, onions and grilled tomato plus Prince Chicken with curry sauce - it was so scrumptous, we licked our plates. Service was impeccable and attentive. We asked for coffee and dessert. Received a small expresso cup of Turkish coffee - amazing flavor - then the best tasting Baklava ever. What a wonderful meal. The service hit rock bottom from the start. We dealt with two servers during our visit, one of whom was the owner, and each encounter was worse than the last. Their demeanor was unprofessional and their attempts at humor were crude and offensive, not what you would expect at what claims to be a refined establishment. Regarding the food, calling it a disappointment would be an understatement. It reminded me more of cheap street food than the authentic Turkish meal I was anticipating. The menu, which looked more like a takeaway flyer from a budget diner, was our first warning sign we foolishly ignored. Note: I noticed in my search to find this place I saw lots of very positive reviews and saw quite a few complaints that didn't reflect on their food but repeatedly mentioned DoorDash deliveries that were disappointing.
