Now that they have changed to Constellation home they are horrible! We got a bill today from 2015!!!!! How is this possible?! Wouldn't I have seen a charge every month since 2015?! Again that's been over a year since we canceled those. I sat on hold for an HOUR trying to talk to someone in billing. They sent my issues to someone and he was supposed to call me back. It's been two days and NO call back. I don't know what's going on with this company but I think it's time to cancel for good. I'm so frustrated. We have been customers for so long and up until a few years ago had good service and no issues. About 10 years ago we had 2 heat pump systems replaced by then BGE. They did a great job. We took out a service contract that we cancelled in 2019 that we cancelled in 2020. We recently scheduled a service appointment with now Constellation Homes. I took off work on this day but they never showed. I called to inquire I was told that they will NOT be coming out as I was in 'collections'. Every time I tried to contact their billing department, I was "disconnected" or could not get anyone to respond. It took a complaint to the BBB to get them to contact us. Turns out that there were NO collections and they were trying to recoup money from my cancelled contract. They now offered to come out but I declined. They are dishonest in their billing, lack any customer service and they cost me an entire day of lost wages. And my heat pumps still have not been serviced. read more

If I could give negative stars I would. I have 3 different home warranty policies with this company. HVAC, Plumbing and Electrical. I can not seem to get someone on the phone for assistance when I call the number listed. 888-243-4663 to schedule a home service that would fall under the preview of my 3 policies. This most recent time I called 2/5/2024 was for a plumbing issue. Which anyone who has ever had a plumbing issues knows usually they are serious and typically need immediate assistance. But not at Constellation Home, no with Constellation Home I held for 30 minutes. I had even gone as far as to call from my landline and cell phone simultaneously in sheer desperation of hoping someone will answer the phone. Same result both lines holding in excess of 30 minutes or more before is absolute exasperation I hang up. I eventually got someone, after repeated call attempts where each time I held for 30 mins or more. I got scheduled for two weeks out ! : 0 WHAT ?! I tried explaining this is an emergency, but it was the best they could do, at this point as a customer I am OVER IT . It took me everything I had not to lash out at the customer service rep. Between the lack of staffing to answer the phone queue and appointment availability being address so lackadaisical, I fail to see the point of my monthly premium for these policies. Had BGE Home out on a service call last year to check my AC unit. In that case, they fixed the issue and were very good salespeople as the team talked me into the service plan vs stand alone cost of that repair. Later scheduled a service call to check water heater. Tech said the tank needed to be replaced and offered no other solution. I said no, did some research, and found that one of the two thermostats was faulty. It cost approx $20 and replaced it myself. Worst of all, I was told the plan was annual and if canceled before the year was up I'd still owe for 12 months. I just called today to finally cancel (not renew for a second year), and the phone rep said it was month to month - so I paid these scam artists $27.95 per month for a year for absolutely nothing. read more

Disappointed. I use to have a service contract with Bge home but for various reasons I didn't renew. I recently reached out to Bge home to renew and was told that someone from sales would be calling me back to sign up. This was over two weeks ago and I'm still waiting for a call. I was also told once I signed up I would have to wait 30 days for the contract to be active before I could make an appointment and then appointments are filling up so I'd have to wait about two months when there was appointment availability. But I still thought I'd talk to the sales team once they called me. But after not hearing back and not wanting to chase them, I decided to go with Belair Engineering for a service contract. Not worth the money for repair coverage. Our washer wasn't working, waited about a month and a half for a new transmission and when installed the washer was left in the middle of the floor covered in grease inside and out in addition to the clip on the control panel broken. Waited another month for what was supposed to be a new control panel but ended up clip replacement. The end result??? Now the washer doesn't work at ALL and the wait continues. Had I known how incompetent and could afford it I would have purchased a new washer out of the gate. Don't waste your money on them In the spirit of fairness.... In 2021 we had a water heater fail and called BGE Home to replace It. They responded promptly and charged the going rate for the appliance and labor. Not wanting to deal with the cost of replacement should the heater fail after the warranty period expired we purchased an extended warranty. LESS THAN ONE YEAR LATER, in 2022, the Bradford White brand water heater BGE Home had installed failed. As in REALLY FAILED. Water all over the basement floor once again. Called BGE Home to replace. They came out promptly and did so however they charged over $385 to do so as LABOR IS NOT INCLUDED when making a warranty claim. Soooo... because BGE installed a bum water heater I was responsible for it. NOT BGE HOME! Not a good look BGE Home. Try to back up the products and service you spend untold hundreds of thousands of dollars advertising. Sequence of events - thanks for listening! 7/19/2022: I used the "pay as guest" feature on the customer portal to pay the bill due 8/4/2022. 8/16/22: I used the "pay as guest" feature on the customer portal to pay the bill due 9/4/2022. 8/30/2022: I received a statement dated 8/9/2022 indicating I had a past due balance. I called the phone number on the statement and spoke to Teresa. She explained both the 7/19 and 8/16 payments had been mis-applied and that she was correcting. 9/20/2022: I received a statement dated 9/9/2022 indicating I had an even larger past due balance, plus a $27.19 late fee. I called and spoke to Lindy, referencing my 8/30 conversation with Teresa. Lindy indicated that, despite what Teresa had told me the payments were not applied until 9/10. Lindy indicated she did not see any outstanding balance, or late fee due. After the call I logged into the customer portal to see it still shows a past due balance, plus the $27.19 late fee. Since calls were not leading to resolution, I used the chat option on the customer portal and reached Dawnn J. She explained the customer portal has not been updated since the 9/9 statement was produced. She said from her end she sees no balance due except $27.19. When I advised that is the late fee I should not have incurred, she said she'd submit a request to have it waived. I had a Carrier Greenspeed Heat pump and furnace installed by BGE Home about 10 years ago. I love the equipment. But I also have BGE Home Warranty. Recently I went back and forth trying to get a renewal on the warranty. What a train wreck! I finally had the contract renewed after going back and forth on the phone and through emails. So today, I called early this morning to have warranty maintenance on my home generator that is also under BGE Home. My window of time was 12 Noon to 4 PM. I left my work specifically to be at my house since being at the house is a BGE Home requirement. At 4 PM I called BGE Home and told them no technician showed up. After being placed on hold, I was told the technician would call me. It's now 5 PM and the technician called saying they JUST RECEIVED my message and my appointment is not on their screen or in the system. Well, I have a confirmation number! They said they are a half hour away. I want to thank BGE Home, who at one point I highly respected, for disrupting my day. It appears, now that Constellation has taken over the service business, the paperwork and actual service maintenance has failed. Horrible! read more

July 22, 2021 When (John) the HVAC technician never called nor returned to our home after his initial service visit during the 1pm hour on Wednesday (July 21, 2021), we called BGE Home afterhours, and reached the BGE Home Emergency Repair Answering Service. This was the only way we found out that John, the HVAC technician who came to our home Wednesday (July 21, 2021), would not be returning to complete the a/c repair work until Friday (July 23, 2021), instead of returning the very next day. This technician never called back as a courtesy to notify us of his plans to return in 2 days to resolve our "hot air blowing" A/C problem. We are long-time BGE Home customers who pay BGE Home on a monthly basis for service contracts on various home appliances. When we made this appointment because of A/C problems, we were told that our service request was classified as a "Emergency," because of the heatwave that Maryland has been experiencing this summer. We still had to wait 5 days for a BGE Home Service Repair appointment, even with our "Emergency" service repair classification. We were also told at the time that we called BGE Home to make this appointment: 1) to expect a call from the HVAC technician just prior to the service visit, which we did receive. 2) the BGE Home Service Repair visit can occur anytime after 7:30am up until 8pm. 3) HVAC technicians are supposed to finish the repair work that they started on their assigned daily HVAC service calls by the end that very same day. It is vital that BGE Home technicians communicate with their clients regarding when they intend to come back to perform & complete an A/C repair. It is inconsiderate to leave repair work involving a "hot air blowing" A/C unfinished, and not be informed by the BGE Home technician about when the repair will be completed. It is also a costly waste of our personal leave time waiting for a all-day BGE Home A/C service repair visit that still left both us -- and our A/C -- in limbo. read more

We took out a BGE Home policy thinking it was a large and reputable company. Then our sewer line needed to be replaced. It has been a disastrous experience. BGE Home subcontracted Zoom Drain to do the work. What was supposed to be one day took three, leaving us with no water or sewer for most of that time. On the first day we were told they were pulling the line through the old. They then proceeded to tear up our front yard, destroy our walkway, and 12 days later have not sent a clean up crew to collect the ladders, pipes, piles of plywood and gravel from our front lawn. We keep calling and they keep promising a crew is en route, and no-one arrives. We strongly urge consumers to consider being covered by other companies. read more

We have the whole house service plan. We have 2 children (one with asthma) so we wanted to be sure we had a good service company for our house. Our A/C is not working properly, so we called for service. The technician said the unit was MISSING fan blades even though the unit has been maintained by BGE over the last 2 years and no one mentioned this issue when we had our first inspection. More than 24 hours later we have no timeline of repair and no one is calling us back with information. It is 87 degrees in our house and climbing. When you place service calls they take 3 weeks to 5 weeks or longer. on whole house plan, AC coils are not covered, Garbage disposal is not covered and you can not cancel within 1 year. Attempted to schedule an appointment to get a new T-Stat at my Dad's home which he is trying to sell. Since I was not on the account the agent (Dani?) would not let me schedule it even though I would be letting the tech in and paying the bill. She said that I needed my Dad to call (85 years old). My Dad called and added me to the account and Dani said someone would call back in 24 hours to schedule an appointment. Three days later, nothing. Crickets. I guess they are too busy to call back even though my Dad has had BGE Home coming out twice a year for a long time.... Crappy customer service... Update- Used Heidler instead. I have been back and forth about bill pay and an unresolved AC issue that I ended up having to go to another company for because the two times they came out for the same issue, they couldn't figure out what was wrong and also after speaking with the other company we realized they made the problem worse. We've been without water for 5 days. They are supposed to replace mu main water line tomorrow, but we will see. They have changed the appointment once, but after explaining how long we have already waited they relented and "did us a favor" to move it back to the original appointment. This summer it took them 8 weeks to diagnose and replace a hot water heater. As annoying as it is to call, it is obvious they are just as annoyed by them. They hate conversing on the phone and really do the best they can to get you off the phone as quickly as possible. BGE sent a tech to look at our home heating system that is making weird noises. Told us that we can change to a new motor and they will schedule an appointment for that. We work up the next morning and found the hot water system is off. There are no hot running in the house. No warm water for shower, washing hands, or dishes in December! There were no issues at all with our boiler before the technician came. This is Christmas morning and they are supposed to be coming tomorrow but after reading all these reviews, I am really worried now. If you are in need of immediate service, don't call them! It takes one week to get an appointment another week to order a part and three or more weeks before they can return to service your appliance. A suggestion for the company, if you know the time frame of the delivery of the part, perhaps you should recommend the customer schedule their appointment ahead of time, rather than they way another three to four weeks for you to return! Review from 7/17/2020: I've placed 3 calls in the past two months for my AC not working. The first call -no one bothered to show up. The second time the tech tried to tell me no trouble found. Earlier this week another technician couldn't find a problem but put coolant in the unit. The AC has been on 74 all day until 4pm when I dropped the thermostat to 72...then, because it was still hot as Hades in here (77), I dropped it to 70 around 6:30. Temperature cooled a bit and now at 8:52pm it is getting warm again (78 degrees) I was on hold for 39 minutes, understandably, and spoke to a pleasant representative. A team lead will be out Monday. 7.20.2020 The team lead came out adjusted something, gave me his number for use if there were issues that day or the next. I left the house, returned at 6:30pm and it was 78 degrees inside. I texted him that evening and spoke to him the morning of 7.21. 7.21.2020 Another technician came out and told me it was the TXV and would cost $275 because the part is not under warranty. 4 BGEHome HVAC technicians, 6 different diagnoses, and my instincts kept telling me something wasn't right. 7.23 I found a highly rated HVAC small business, Quality Cooling and Heating, told them the symptoms only, 7.25 he came out, diagnosed and fixed it. It was the capacitor - not the TXV. AC has been working just fine for the past 11 days. The AC experience has been a 0. The technicians who diagnosed and repaired the oven were excellent - 5 stars. The first gentleman came out last week, and the second installed my part today. My surveys for both will reflect their knowledge, skills, and accuracy. read more

This company has awful customer service. I had an emergency plumbing problem that caused me to have to get a hotel for me and my family to stay in. I called bge home because I have a warranty onto plumbing which was the emergency problem. When I called to say I'm having an emergency they said they could be there the same night. 11 calls later and 24 hours I still haven't heard from a technician. Today I come home and it is 50 degrees in my house i have very small dogs (one weight less than 3 lbs) so having some type of heat is a must. i call they tell me the soonest they can come is three days from now. how is this emergency service? My Spring HVAC check-up in April revealed the need for a potentially failing system part. Grateful for the service plan, I was told that the part would be ordered and installed at no cost. I received a call last week that the part had arrived and that the installation needed to be scheduled, I selected this past Saturday. I was given an arrival time after 12 noon. When pressed on the arrival window, the scheduler said that she could not narrow the arrival time, but that the technicians stay out until their jobs are completed, and that could be as late as 9pm. I was also told that the technician would call prior to his arrival. So, with a potential arrival window of between 12 and 9, which was inconvenient, I rescheduled my Saturday, and puttered around the house expecting a call from the technician. No call. No technician. No repair. I'd like to think that my business is important to the company and that in this age of arrival windows by service companies of 4 hours or less - - with a call-ahead - - I would at least receive the courtesy of a phone call that the technician was not going to arrive. I have a plumbing contract with BGE Home. I called BGE Home two times in September 2021. On both occasions, the 'plumber' arrived, viewed the situations and left without taking any action. The BGE person did, however, reschedule the work for 10 days, giving me ample time to called a real plumber to do the work. As a management professor, the BGE business model makes no sense. We have been their customers for 13 years. We were happy with the outcome in general till 2019. In last 2 years the service is extremely deteriorated, endless pattern of delays, doing service and then never ordering the parts, no follow up afterwards what was done, what was ordered, even when I requested during the service visit. Always everything is up in the air. No professional reliability as to what time of service was given, and when should they arrive, long wait time to even schedule the service... On the day of service, there are delays of many hours with little or no contact with the dispatcher or customer service. I have contacted their supervisors and nothing seems to change ever. I used to like BGE Home. Now, I am completely and totally done with them. I used them in a previous house, so I immediately thought of them for our new home. We agreed to a contract on the phone last spring and I asked them out to service our hvac. We live on the bay and our units are 10 feet in the air on a platform without a railing. The BGE guy told me that they can't service them. Ok. No problem. No can do? No contact, right? Nope, they keep billing me for the contract. I call every month and speak to a representative who assures me that they will correct the account. Nope. Tonight, after getting yet another bill, I got told that the money is owed from before the contract was cancelled. WHAT!?!?!? Remember, I am not the one who said we can't do this. I've used BGE for a new water heater a few years ago for my rental property and they were reasonable and quickly installed a new gas heater on a weekend. I recently had to replace my old leaky water heater in my home, so I used BGE again, which is now Constellation Home and my experience was great especially when I was dealing with my useless home warranty (AHS). BGE scheduled me quickly for a new water heater and the techs were courteous, honest and professional. Customer service was also top-notch with Tiffany my rep, who kindly dealt with my frustrating home warranty so that I could get reimbursed. I highly recommend this company.
