Thankfully our other AC kept working so we all slept in the living room while we waited for the morning to come to call around for HVAC companies that could come ASAP. HVAC Direct was the first company I contacted and Scott came within an hour of the call and got to work right away. And within an hour he diagnosed and fixed the problem (luckily just a shot capacitor) at what I thought was a reasonable price. Scott was super professional and friendly without being pushy with any additional products to sell. He also checked our other working unit just about of precaution. So grateful he was able to come and fix things so fast on the eve before a long weekend in the midst of a heatwave. Now the previous evening, my husband contacted a large local competitor to check our HVAC system. Technician from local competitor came out and looked out HVAC system, didn't test any components and stated "our compressor was locked & leaking refrigerant and quoted my husband $6k to replace it or we can purchase a brand new HVAC system for $25k!!!" (NOT TRUE!!!). The tech even left our outside power switch unplugged so we couldn't test the system!! SMH!!! We won't contact them for any service ever again nor recommend them to any neighbors, friends and family!!! Joe K, Service Technician at HVAC Direct Heating & Cooling contacted my husband within 20 minutes of him contacting the office the next business day and scheduled a visit that evening. He came out to the house, checked the compressor and quickly diagnosed the capacitor as the problem & replaced it. And Joe K. even showed my husband how he diagnosed the capacitor as the issue NOT the compressor leaking refrigerant as stated by local competitor!! No refrigerant leaking at all!! Compressor in good condition!! In addition, Joe K., checked the wiring, fan, all associated parts and cleaned our a/c unit. No issues at all!! Just some cleaning needed!!! HVAC in excellent working condition AGAIN!!! In addition, he checked our furnace, cleaned some our internal components and showed my husband some DIY things to do to maintain our HVAC system throughout the year!! He came out and…read moreoverrode the delay switch on the actual HVAC unit system that's outside because he said we didn't need it because we also have the same delay switch thing on the thermostat inside He didn't check the air handler or anything else and said it was that . He hooked hoses and said our Freon was fine and that everything else was working properly. So paid him cash and almost 6 hours later the house stayed at a hot 80 degrees in the hall and actually got to 86 degrees in the kitchen as we have a magnetic thermostat which sits on the side of the refrigerator . So my husband texted him to tell him and he actually said to give our unit some more time to cool down the house !! Now I'm not an HVAC technician but I'm also not a moron. I know it does not take six hours to put a temperature of 77° in the house from 80 which in almost 6 hours that's what happened. He refused to come back out and it was 5 o clock. Wants to wait to see if it'll cool off overnight Meanwhile I'm on dialysis and have been very sick for some time and the thought of another night of 80-82 degrees is very difficult to deal with considering I do my treatments at home now in a hot sweltering room! So meanwhile the original company that's on vacation and personally got ahold of No Frost Air to help us wasn't much help either in trying to help and what the most horrible part is we ended up getting ahold of our neighbor who's friends father owns a HVAC company and they came right out !!!! So mind you another service Call $$$ in less than 6 hours.... The problem was the actual COMPRESSOR IS BAD AND WAS BAD ALL ALONG BUT NO FROST AIR TOOK ADVANTAGE BY TRYING TO ALTER OUR SYSTEM and say it needed more time to cool down which is still mind blowing to me ... The incompetence and the dishonesty of this company's owner is appalling to me that he could even do something like this and then tell my husband to wait until our prior hvac company owner comes back from vacation to address the problem with our HVAC not working and cooling our house .. Worst experience ever !!!! Who does that !! He should be ashamed of himself to do this to us . I'd give ZERO STARS if I could! This is a honest review!
