I moved to Mentor 18 years ago and tried Consumer Tire because of the coupon in the move-in packet; I haven't needed to go anywhere else since. From day one they treated me like family, through oil changes, brakes, random issues that I never would have figured out without their expertise, and miscellaneous items found in my tires (where and how I picked up a countersink I'll never understand); through different shop managers and mechanics; through helping me find new vehicles after driving old ones past 360k miles. The folks at Consumer Tire have always been honest with me, even when I didn't want to hear the truth, keeping me apprised of situations as they arise, such as estimating the life of my tires and brakes, so that I could budget for the future maintenance. For honesty, skill, and expertise, I cannot recommend Consumer Tire highly enough. read more

I've been a customer for well over a decade and have spent thousands here. They aren't the greatest prices, but seemed like they did good work. About 2-3 months ago, I took my truck in for some issues. The estimate was going to be upwards of 2-3 grand, but some parts were backordered. They assured me they would follow up and call me back when parts were in stock. After about a month, I started making regular calls. The lady assured me she would check into it and call me back. I called no less than 10 times and each time she promised she would call me back and never did. I call a last time yesterday. She apologized and PROMISED she would call me back today. Ope, look. It's today and I got zero calls. This review is just my first step in letting everyone know not to go here. Loyalty means nothing. Service means nothing. They will not get one penny from my family again. Oh, and my truck is still dangerous to drive and now I have to start the process all over again. read more

I am a local volunteer for the Chardon Schools calling to verify their email because the information I was sending them was being returned. The owner answered the phone, and before I could explain why I was calling, she snapped at me that she was swamped and couldn't deal with me and hung up on me. I will remove this business from my list and never call again. Sad that a local business would treat someone in the community that way. read more

Twice in the past year I have contacted Consumer Tire on Mentor Avenue.to request tire service and twice I have encountered EXTREMELY rude employees that answer their phone. The woman that answered yesterday was not only rude but literally insulted me! I was so shocked by her behavior that it left me speechless. I was so caught off guard.... No words can explain how I felt at that moment - confused, I guess. I ended the call after saying nothing and just hung up on her. I hope she sees my review. You know who you are. I could tell that even you were shocked by what you said and how you behaved to a potential new customer. You folks really do need to work on customer relations There is just no excuse for that behavior from adults running a business in the service industry. read more

I used consumer tire to do a pre-inspection on a used vehicle. The cost was very reasonable and the inspection was very thorough. They also agreed to look at some items that they don't normally look at since I'm out of state and was unable to view the vehicle myself. The technician even noted that there was some ash in the ashtray and that the vehicle could've been smoked in, which I appreciated very much since I'm a non-smoker. Very pleased with the job that they did and appreciate all of their feedback on the items of concern that they found. I talked to the service manger for quite a while going over what the tech found and also received a printed report with estimates for some repair items. Excellent experience. read more

I JUST SPENT 1100.00 ON SOME NEW GOODYEAR DURATRAC TIRES FOR MY TUNDRA. Two of them were losing air before I got off the lot. I found out that the valves stems were leaking. So I took the truck back to consumer because I was told that all tires must have a stem rebuild kit installed when you change tires So when I got there I was told the tire pressure sensors were bad. not only did they charge me for 4 rebuild kits that they did not install. They let me leave there shop with the tires losing air. they offered me a 20.00 credit for all that aggravation. Letting me leave with the tires in that condition is un forgivable. I turned down the 20.00 credit. it was a cheap lesson to learn where not to go. Something I wanted went so bad!! read more

Tom P purchased four new tires, extremely bad workmanship!!! Two of my rims were badly nicked up!!!! Plus car was not positioned properly on lift resulting to some minor damage underneath my car! Any money saved on tires was lost. read more

I worked with Jessica in the store. She was polite to talk to, but that's about it. DO NOT SHOP HERE!! I was able to find the same tires locally at other stores for much less money. I had a warranty issue with a tire and had to go into the store recently. When Al used to run this store for years in the past, and during his time, he was honored in the paper for good service, and he DID provide excellent service every time. Myself and my most people i know have been going here for tires from Al. Al has retired a few years ago, and this store has gone down the drain. Everyone I know will no longer shop here anymore. The service is horrible! Hopefully you're not unlucky enough to have to deal with the service manager, Wayne. He likes to brag that worked at BMW and now he thinks he knows everything. While standing with him asking questions about my tire, he abruptly told me that he did have time for me and he then turned his back on me and walked away while I was in mid-sentence. NOT THE SAME PLACE SINCE AL RETIRED!!!!! read more

I can't believe anyone would have anything negative to say. I've been going here for years, the service, product/s, pricing is untouchable. I guess everyone can't have a good experience all the time, but I've NEVER been disappointed. When I walk in I feel like I'm at home. I know at times they are busy and can come across being a little short or some say rude, but aren't we all in a position at times that we are a little overwhelmed and can appear to be that way. They are like family, caring about you, your vehicle and safety for you and others. No, I'm not a relative or a personal friend of theirs, I'm just a satisfied customer. read more

They've even come to my house before when my car battery died to install a new one!
