I went back outside. While I was waiting, another customer pulled up behind us. [[HIGHLIGHT]]When the man finally came out, he walked right past us and went straight to the customer who had just arrived.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We stood there. Eventually someone from the office came out to take my information down, but couldn't actually give me an estimate or any help. Meanwhile he was still with the other customer. I left. I was there first. He knew I was there first I'd already spoken to him. Basic order of service is something you'd expect anywhere, from a coffee shop to a body shop. They gave me two of the best gifts a business can give to a customer--trust, and an experience that was seamless from start to finish. When I seek out a review of a company, I am looking for information that can help me make a decision. 1. Are they professional and do they know what they are doing. Yes, on both counts. Their expertise is collision body work. 2. Is the cost of repair reasonable? I thought their cost was very reasonable. 3. Can they be trusted? You cannot put a price tag on trust. I never once worried about my car in their very capable hands. TL;DR; I can't recommend them. I had an accident where the rear bumper and tail light assembly had to be replaced. I thought it would turn out to be a minor repair. I chose Continental because of all of the positive reviews. Apparently the people who wrote those five star reviews don't seem to care about when they would actually get the car back. 1. They are nice people, BUT even though I made an appointment with them two weeks ahead, they did not seem too ready to get started on the work. They could have asked me to come in and sign an agreement allowing them to order the parts so they'd be ready on the day, but no such thing until the day of. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Once in, they weren't good about keeping me up to date on when they'd be done.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] First they said "at least five days," then that turned in to seven or eight days, then they said there were some parts they didnt have or thought that they had ordered, but didn't. They said that the parts could take several days. One would think that when repair time and turnaround is the core of one's business success, there would have been a way to expedite those orders. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Other times they could not find the part order and said they'd call me back, but didn't.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I was calling them every other day that whole time. One time I called and they said "today." No warning. But then it wasn't. All in all it took 12 days. That whole time I was waiting, I had three drivers in the house, and one car, and I had to try and coordinate which days I would rent an extra one. It was impossible to do that well because expectations were either not set, or just missed. I do hope they can see all this from my perspective. 2. During the time the car was there, the costs kept going up and up. They claimed that the extent of the damage was more than met the eye, and soon the entire rear side panel was affected. They had to dismantle the rear door and frame too. Eventually their repair request to my insurance company rose to more than the value of my car itself! This could have been because they wanted to do the best job possible, but for a car that is 11 years old, I could have settled for less. 3. They did a decent job, BUT a week later, the bumper started to stick out and was no longer flush. I'm gonna just leave it, because taking it back and waiting some unknown amount of time again is out of the question. 4. They nicely detailed my car inside and out, BUT the interior had a very strong Windex odor for more than a month afterwards. It was so strong that had to drive with my windows open, and even leave them open overnight. I also had a bit of the finish coat on the roof of the car starting to peel before I took it in, and now it is a lot worse. Whatever chemicals they are using are simply too harsh. 5. There just seems to be a general sense of disorganization there. I just don't understand it. They don't seem to hold any interest in getting the cars done as soon as possible, which I assume would help their business, so they can turn over more cars and make more money. read more

My wife and I took our Honda Accord, in great condition but with numerous scratches, dents, and worn out gaskets to Continental. For a very fair price and right on schedule, it emerged looking like the car we had fallen in love with in a showroom 21years ago. Amazingly, for an extra sixty bucks and in an hour they made a yellowed and fogged front light lens gleam like the brand new one they put in on the other side of the car. I am a builder, a demanding and frugal one. I have worked with 100's of tradesmen over the last century. These guys are on the A+ list. Do not take your car here! I brought my car here for an estimate. They lied to me that there were not charges for storage and then attempted to defraud the involved insurance agencies to pay over $6000 for storage. When the insurance agencies refused they attempted to hold my car "hostage" until I paid $800 to pick it up. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This is all after Denise, the office manager, repeatedly lied to me over the course of a month that there would be no charges to me.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It is so bad that our insurance agency told us that they are known for this and they won't even send adjusters to their shop for the treatment they receive. We did not get the car fixed there but did discover their estimate was significantly higher than other estimates. This is a highly unscrupulous business that takes advantage of people in a vulnerable state after a car accident. read more

I have 15 year old CRV, in good repair, with a nice, well-cared for body. I plan to keep her. However, I had an accident and badly scraped another car on my passenger side. I took care of the other guy's damage, but have collision ins. BUT I wanted to see what I could do with my car's now bent fender making my door door jam, and also do something about the ugly scrape along the side. I have been to CAB before and liked working with them. I came to them for low-cost, out-of-pocket help. This time I again wanted some "touch up work" and they listed to want I wanted that would look good and function well, but not cost much too much. They were great. Ask for Jose Cabrillo. For $350, they repaired the door and fender, buffed out a lot, and touch-up painted. So now my 15 year old beauty does not have the perfect complexion of a younger woman, but she looks great. read more

I felt I got a fair deal. Went through an insurance claim, and was looking for a place that did quality work. Someone had keyed the passenger side of my Subaru - all four panels. The main guy was out sick the week I went to drop things off, so I worked mostly with Jose. The original guy said he was going to arrange a rental with Budget a few doors down, but they didn't have a reservation. No big deal since they had plenty of cars (but a huge line). Overall, I am ok with the work done. I am a bit sad that the dark gray paint isn't as lustrous as the original paint, but what are you gonna do when you have to get your car repainted. It will never be good as new. The paint is one of those pearlescent dark grays, so probably a bit difficult to match exactly. read more

I recently had my 2005 Honda partially painted at Continental Auto Body on San Pablo in Berkeley. I had faded paint on the roof, the hood and on the strip above the hatch. Continental did an excellent job. They matched the existing paint perfectly. The car looks brand new. As important to me as the finished product was the way I was treated at Continental from start to finish: I was greeted on the phone, and then in person, with professional respect; my (somewhat sentimental) request was taken seriously; I was quoted a price below an alternative shop; and the job was done in a shorter time than expected. The exterior of the newly-painted car was clean and spotless. I could not recommend Continental more highly. read more

About a month ago, I was driving around looking for a local auto repair shop to help me fix my headlight -- my car is dented in the front and it was near impossible to jimmy the light out of its socket without popping the dent out, which I could not do without the proper tools. I came across Continental and asked the gentleman working for assistance. Jorge introduced himself kindly and told me that changing a headlight is not the kinds of service this place typically provides but that he was happy to help out. So in his free time -- out of pure kindness -- he popped my dent out, changed out the headlight with a spare bulb he had inside the shop, and after all of that asked for absolutely nothing in return. He is a firm believer that kindness repays itself in time. So I will, in turn, pay it forward to the next person I come across in need of help. Jorge, thank you for your kindness. Shopping for an autobody repair quote without insurance is stressful at best. I compiled 4 quotes - ranging from $4000-1700. Continental gave me the lowest estimate, so I decided (not surprisingly) to give them a try. The greats: 1. I was very impressed with the thorough estimate Arturo put together for me, checking to find used doors etc.....really putting time to give me a thorough estimate. 2. The car looks like brand new - repairing a massive seemingly helpless dent which involved the entire driver side. 3. The staff is VERY friendly and professional - even when they were working overtime to finish my car they were so friendly to me. 4. Fast response to questions and inquiries throughout the process, even via email. The not-as-great: 1. Final cost was $300 more than estimate - BUT this is still significantly less than any other estimate I found. 2. It took longer than the original time estimate - but only by a couple of days - and I was pretty lax about following up on it in general (I would guess that had I been really tenacious and stressed a need for a particular time, they probably would have bent over backwards to accommodate) I would recommend them to my friends and family. read more

This review is long overdue, but Jose (the owner) and his crew did an excellent job replacing the front-bumper on my friend, Igor's car. This was back in mid-December, 2019. Unfortunately, I accidentally hit Igor's car while parallel parking. Igor was upset, but forgiving of my mistake. Regardless, I felt terrible and I wanted his car to be "as good as new," if possible. The work Jose's team did was nothing short of spectacular! I was especially impressed with how well the paint (an off-white) color matched the car's body. The fit of the new bumper was seamless, as well. Igor was very demanding about the quality of work done, and thankfully Jose's team delivered. The fact that Igor is also my jiu-jitsu instructor, and he will not strangle me (literally) for damaging his car, is a huge relief. I am only half-joking. Igor would never hurt me (or anyone else) physically, but the quality of work done by Jose's team has insured that Igor and I remain friends; and we are closer friends - after this incident than before, thanks to Igor feeling that his car is - in fact - "good as new." read more
