Paul was always easy to talk to, and he explained what he did with the car well. I was impressed with the fact that they keep you updated by sending you text messages. Letting you know their progress and their potential finishing time put me at ease. When you get to the place, you sort of wonder how they can do what they do because the parking lot is always full of cars. Dear Paul, So I'm wondering why it seemed that you were being so rude this morning. I work in the service industry and I personally would never communicate in that manner towards any customer. I want to know what is your reason honestly? I think it's fair to say that we were asking questions that we generally wanted answers on but you just seemed annoyed when we asked and answered in a way that came off very condescending. I'm no expert, but if any part of damage is from the collision, and insurance would pay for parts/ labor, why would you refuse to fix a part of it? Is it some kind of scam? Referred here by my insurance company. Owner/manager was very easy to work with. Has a down-to-earth personality. He's respectful and not pushy or rude. Likes to joke. Also helped me out with the deductible. My car had a minor fender bender to the rear right quarter panel. Took EMW a week to repair...not bad at all, although I really missed my car. That being said, I kind of wished they offered a courtesy car (but that might be asking too much). Not adding rental car coverage on my insurance policy was my bad. The owner did offer to give me a ride to BART. The job looked great! Seamless! Paint was close enough...I'm a bit of a perfectionist...the paint may have been slightly glossy, but nothing too noticeable really. Perhaps a wax job to top things off would have sufficed. The vehicle was returned slightly dirty. My floor mats were dirtier upon return. Nonetheless, customer service was not too bad and the repair was definitely up to snuff! Thanks EMW! Honestly it was a pleasure working with Paul. He is not only easy going and pleasant to talk to, but he is also very professional. This is the first time I had to walk into a shop to get a car fixed and Paul definitely eased the nerves and the process was extremely easy. He keeps you updated and answers all your questions. These chums fix a car like someone might fix a good steak: looks well done on the outside, but once you get into it it's a bloody mess. Simple low-speed fender-bender above the driver's side front wheel/front of driver's door hinge brought me to this shop (family recommendation...). Two weeks later without any status phone calls (bad communication much?), and the car was done. GREAT!.. not so fast. I returned to this "body shop" 6 additional times for repeat repairs. The door handle fell out in the back door (which *apparently* was damaged due to my front end collision........?) once a week for a month. I kid you not. "We fixed it".. means "We didn't do anything or can't figure it out, now go home. Insurance paid us already". At the same time after the repair was completed, I had wind noise while on the freeway/frontage road, as well as water leakages in the driver's door (these were all new problems.. after the crash i drove the car to the shop across the bay bridge and had none of this...). After a month and a half of trying to get the job done right, I gave up with this place. Sorry guys. You were nice but you can't call yourselves a body shop if you can't screw in a door handle, even after ordering a new one from the VW dealer and trying to replace it. It still fell out another 4 times. Finally, I ended up going to Automotive Collision Repair in Oakland, a VW certified shop, and they were fantastic. They told me that the doors were not aligned by the previous shop, causing my wind noise and water leaks, and, after they'd opened the car up to look at the job done previously, told me that EMW had covered up the damage with repaired parts... in my assumption, to pocket the "repair labor fees" which were never performed. EMW seemed to repair visible damage but hide/ignore the stuff that wasn't visible to the eye. Even after bringing the car back to them with complaints, they weren't able to trace the issue. I don't know about the auto repair part of this business - I rented a Budget truck from them. That said, this is a quality family run business that was recommended to me by a long time Albany resident. I made a reservation online through Budget's website, I went (late, even); the truck was there. Paperwork was quick and painless, and I drove off 10 minutes later. The odometer was set properly, which apparently is not the case at the San Pablo U-Haul location. I drove my worldly belongings down to Mountain View, drove the truck back, filled it up, dropped it off and was in and out of the office in five minutes. No bullshit damage or mileage charges. No ridiculous wait. They just made sure the gas was full, checked the mileage and printed a receipt. An island of sanity in the chaos that is moving. read more

I call on Monday and ask if I brought my car in that day to have my fender and driver side mirror repaired and replaced, would it be ready by Friday. Paul assured me it would. Paul called me on Friday to let me know my car was ready. My car looks brand new. Like it just came off the showroom floor. They did an awesome job! They even washed it and put armor all the tires.
