I've been buying cars from Rob since late 1980s! Very honest and fair. He stands behind his cars and addresses whatever issue.

Review Highlights - Continental Auto Sales

The price was under market value and the process of working through the purchase with Rob Grenier, the owner, was seamless and very pleasant.

Selling my vehicle was quick and easy. They were able to complete all of the lease buyout paperwork…read morein under an hour and got me a good offer value.

The trade in offer from Tesla was much too low, they only provide "KBB wholesale" value. They count…read moreon their offer being helped by the tax savings. For example, if you trade in a car valued at $20,000, and sales tax in your state is 5%, you receiving a $21,000 equivalent, because your don't have to pay taxes on the $20,000 trade in value. I wasn't satisfied with this offer from Tesla, so I requested offers online. CarMax provided the best price by a good margin. Even after discounting the tax advantage, it was several thousand dollars better than Tesla's valuation, and CarMax claimed their process was very straight forward. Most of the transaction was done online, I uploaded their requested documents (license, registration, etc.). I was then asked when I would like to bring in my car for inspection and sale. A few days later, I arrived at my designated appointment time, and was promptly greeted at their front desk in their rather cavernous reception area. It's a bright and clean space, and was fairly quiet on this particular afternoon. I was told to drive my car into their garage for inspection, and return to their business office. About 10 minutes later, a very nice representative (Liz) told me that she was working on my paperwork, which would be ready in about 15 minutes. Liz returned with the paperwork, and patiently explained the few pieces of paper I was signing. I signed over the title and she handed me a check for the agreed upon amount. I was also given copies of all the paperwork and my license plates. She advised that I contact the registry quickly and destroy the plates if they weren't being transferred. I'd estimate about thirty minutes start to finish. I sold my car for a fair offer, lower than if I tried to find a private party sale, but safer, easier and no hassles. I can't comment on services related to buying a car here, but I was very satisfied selling my car here.

Always helpful and very knowledgable. Surprised they aren't crowded with customers. I wouldn't take…read moreany of my cars to anybody else. I trust them.

I purchased a vehicle from this dealership sight unseen because I relied on their representations,…read moretheir advertised 120-point inspection, and their claims of being an honest and different kind of dealership. Unfortunately, my experience after the sale has not matched those claims. On the drive home, I immediately noticed significant brake noise coming from the rear of the vehicle. I brought it to my mechanic, who found that the rear rotors were worn. We also observed that the rotors had been sprayed black, along with the aluminum brake calipers, making the components appear newer or recently serviced. I also discovered that the cabin air filter was extremely dirty and apparently had not been replaced. Although a cabin filter is a relatively inexpensive maintenance item, its condition raises further questions about how thoroughly the advertised 120-point inspection was actually performed. In addition, I repeatedly requested a copy of my signed bill of sale and still have not received it. At this point, I may have to contact the RMV or appropriate state officials simply to obtain a copy of a transaction document that should already have been provided to me. Before writing this review, I gave the dealership an opportunity to respond privately. I sent a detailed and professional email explaining the issues and requesting: * A copy of the signed bill of sale * An explanation of how the worn rear brakes passed the advertised 120-point inspection * An explanation of why the brake rotors and aluminum calipers had been sprayed black * An explanation of how an extremely dirty cabin air filter was missed during the inspection * A reasonable proposed remedy The email was sent to Sales Manager Greg Benoit; Director of Purchasing Ron Stokowski, who completed the transaction because Greg was unavailable that day; and Service Manager John Gagnon. None of them acknowledged the email, contacted me, or made any attempt to discuss a resolution. The dealership advertises a 90-day warranty. However, a warranty provides little reassurance when the people responsible for the sale and service will not even acknowledge a customer's concerns. One can only imagine what the experience would be without the warranty. I purchased this vehicle based on trust and gave the dealership an opportunity to address the matter professionally before posting publicly. Being ignored was their response. I cannot imagine treating any customer this way, particularly after a sight-unseen purchase in which the customer relied heavily on the dealership's representations. Ironically, Ron asked me to leave a review of my experience, so here it is. Based on my experience, prospective buyers should obtain an independent inspection, carefully examine any freshly painted or coated mechanical components, check basic maintenance items such as the cabin air filter, and make sure they receive copies of every signed document before completing the transaction.
