Yes, I go to a salon to get my haircut. Go ahead, get it out of your system now. I'll wait. ... Done yet? Good. Thanks. I'm not a typical "give me a number 2 all the way around" kind guy, so I do care where I get it cut and for that matter, who cuts it. I've been going here for quite a while now. My commitment is shown in my willingness to, year after year, drive down here from Boston [North Easton, Quincy, Downtown Boston, and/or Medford, depending on the year] to get my hair snip snapped. Now that i'm temporarily local again, the distance has diminished quite a bit, but - I digress. Don't get me wrong, i've tried other places, but it never comes out as good. Hey, maybe I suck at explaining how I want my hair cut. I can live with that. My fault or not - they do good work. A lot of other places cut it too short, or cut it so straight I look like Lloyd Christmas on a good day. (Dumb & Dumber reference.) I like to come out with just a shorter version of the crazy spiked whateverness I walked in with. I can always tell they did a good job when I come home from getting a haircut and my dad looks at me, pauses, and then tells me that I should "go get a haircut." I would recommend Kiki and/or Rihanna (no, not THAT one) but anyone they hire would be a good choice. I like going to the same person because I can just go in and sit there and i don't have to explain a thing. On another note, Contours has been doing my mom's hair for years, and she does the whole 6-hour experience (cut, color, ....other hair things) and she's always happy - and trust me, if she's not happy, she would be the first one to tell you. The people are super friendly, there is always fresh coffee and some sort of food (bagels, pastries, and/or mini sandwiches) to munch on when you get there / before you leave. Not the cheapest place in the world, but in the grand scheme of things, $41 for a guy's haircut every 9 weeks isn't a big deal. read more

I needed to find a new hairdresser and Contours was recommended. What a find! Kelly is MASTERFUL with her cuts--so cute, precise, and they last a long time. ALL of the staff is fantastic with color, styling, updos, blowouts, etc. You really can feel completely comfortable with anyone providing services. The atmosphere is also wonderful. I've been here several times since moving from NYC to CT, and I am so happy that I found this place! It can be a scary experience to try a new hair stylist for the first time, but Sam is the absolute best and made me feel comfortable right from the start! I've recommended her to my friends, who also go to her for haircut and dye. She helps to achieve the look that you want while being honest about what is going to work with your hair, which is important since everyone's hair is different! She's also great if you're not sure what you want as she gives great advice about different looks that you can try! I have naturally long black hair but have been doing blonde balayage for the past couple of years. She gives me a beautiful ashy blonde color every time, as well as, a killer haircut with flattering layers. I have been using Redken shampoo and the Moroccan hair mask that she recommended (which you can purchase at their salon), which works wonders in keeping my hair soft and healthy! I just moved to CT from Miami and as many would understand, finding a new hairdresser is a daunting task that no one ever wants to go through. Contours held an event at my apartment building that I unfortunately couldn't attend but they caught my attention, so I booked a blow dry. My appointment was with Sasha and the moment I walked into the salon I was treated like royalty (not exaggerating)! I ended up touching up my roots on that same day and left feeling amazing! Sasha is wonderful, funny and best of all was honest with me. I value that a lot! I've been back 4 more times since then for a mani, eyelash lift, facial and a blow dry. They provide something I'm not quite sure how to put into words. To me, every dollar is absolutely worth the service. I can't stress how much you should go and visit them. I had a cut and color done with Amanda. She was able to achieve exactly the color I was looking and did a great job with the cut & style. I've requested this color multiple times in the past at other salons and Amanda is the only one who was able to achieve a beautiful ash blonde. I already made my next appointment for the fall! In the midst of COVID, the salon was clean and socially distanced. I felt very comfortable throughout my entire appointment. Contours is one of the best salons in CT you will ever go to. In my opinion, one of the many reasons why it sets itself apart of the rest is the owner, Isabella. She runs a tight ship. She has high expectations and everyone knows it. She keeps all her employees (from this who clean the salons, to receptionists, to stylists) on their toes. And you know what goes along with high expectations? Amazing service and results. You WILL get the best haircut, color,and blowout you've ever had here. Peter, her husband and co-owner, is almost always at the salon too, often the front desk. He's always so welcoming and helpful. I've also had a facial, manicure, pedicure, and massage here and they all have been superb. I've been in a wedding party (bride, maid of honor, bridesmaids, mother of the bride) that decided to have their hair and make up done here. We were treated extra special and our make up (they have bare escentuals amongst other quality makeup products) looked flawless, and our hairstyles (some up dos, some left long and in loose tossled waves) looked gorgeous. You take time out of your day and go to a high class salon, spending that extra money, because you deserve it right? Well Contours won't leave you disappointed. Oh and they have THE BEST products for your hair and your skin (love, love, love the Guinot line of skincare) and boutique like accessories (hair jewelry, rings, earrings, wristlets/purses). I love Contours. Service is totally professional and friendly every single time. After going for the past 6 years for everything from haircuts/color, waxing, spray tanning, nails, makeup, skincare, massages and other services, the Contours employees now feel like family and the place feels almost like a second home. The policy regarding trying different stylists is outstanding. I have never been made to feel guilty or disloyal for switching stylists or trying someone new; in fact, it's encouraged. Products are top-notch, particularly the skincare lines. Employees are awesome - competent, professional, friendly. You'll never be treated in a way that is anything other than totally classy and professional, which is the primary reason I'm a long-time client. I'm treated with respect, kindness and as a friend. Prices are what one would expect from an upscale salon. To me, the quality of the experience merits the prices. Stylists bill at all different amounts based on their level of experience, so it's possible to find someone good at many different price ranges. I've never had a haircut that I didn't like at any price level. In particular, I adore Ann, who's an aesthetician. She gives excellent facials and skincare consultations and recommends the right products for your skin but is never pushy about selling to you. She truly cares about her clients' skin and has a very professional manner. I always look great after a visit with Ann. I can't recommend this salon highly enough. I recently got an e-mail from Contours because their new computer system determined that I had not visited there in a long time. Since they wanted customers to try them again, they offered me a complimentary shampoo and style as well as a manicure. This time, I felt very welcome there. A nice man (owner?) opened the door for me and everyone greeted me with a smile and offered me something to drink and eat; how cool was that! Tatiana gave me a beautiful pink manicure. She was very gentle and soothing. I loved her hand massages and really got the junk away from my cuticles. She had the softest hands. Next, Jasmine did my hair. She had such a sweet persona and gave me the best blowout ever. I loved how she incorporate a scalp massage in the shampoo. She transformed my hair from being dull and dry to shiny and voluminous. I'm not one who looks at herself in the mirror, but I just couldn't stop looking at myself. Contours is a place worth spending extra for! My regular hairstylist went out on maternity leave so I needed to find someone new. I have very fine, thin hair which is not the easiest to style. I found Kelly at Contours and I think she may be the best hairdresser I've ever had She is pleasant, professional and very talented. I've worn my hair in many different styles yet since I started seeing Kelly I have received more compliments then ever before. The salon is clean, music is in the back ground not blaring. Stylists are professional and speak with their clients quietly, not with each other while people are in their chairs. Everyone had always been welcoming and accommodating. Amazing. 10 stars, honestly. This is a chic, CLEAN, crisp salon. My hair looked amazing, I FELT amazing. Everyone radiates positive energy and smiles. I KID YOU NOT, I walked in to the door literally held open for me, the smell of warm scones and coffee came next. After a few hours of services, I left having a glass of white wine and a hummus cucumber sandwich. The hospitality is unreal. I felt so welcomed, so invited and so happy to be at a place to rejuvenate and get "me" back. Staff took the time to LISTEN and UNDERSTAND what I wanted to leave with and words don't give Contour justice how amazing the few hours away felt. THANK YOU! They say you have to take care of yourself before you can take care of others, with a family it is hard to make the time but I am so glad that I found this Spa and made the time I needed for ME. The people that helped me check-in at the front desk were kind and professional, so patient working with me to make future appointments to work around MY schedule. I am sorry but in today's rush, rush of a world people are so quick with their time, no one wants to put in the little extra work, it is so draining especially with the work I am in. It was truly an experience like no other having my mini vacation like pampering experience here. Thank you to everyone who helped me and guided me to find my perfect match, a phenomenal hairdresser for my budget. My hair cut made me feel 10 years younger. It is TRUE when you feel good you look good. My smile brightened and I could feel me for the first time in awhile (I guess life kicked in). My deep tissue massage was another wonderful, calming experience, I even was given water to take with me to stay hydrated. BEWARE BRIDES--DO NOT GO HERE!!! i repeat, DO NOT GO HERE!!! i have never in my life been treated so rudly & poorly. i still can't believe my terrible experience here actually happened. i would give this place zero stars if i could. they do not deserve even one star!!! i had booked myself & my entire wedding party here for all 9 of us to get both our hair & make-up done. because i was from out of state, i couldn't get my trail done until the day before my wedding. when i went to pay, they were going to charge me wayyyyy more than what their prices are posted online & what i had been quoted. for the stylist to simply curl my hair, yes, that's all she did (& a terrible job of that too--it feel out within the hour), it was going to cost $150!!! this is simsbury, ct people. not freakin' NYC!!! are they nuts?!?! YES!!! & i should add, she only spent about 20 minutes curling my hair. then, for my 15 minute make-up application, the cost was another $100! this is for the trial people. the trail!!! were they serious?!?! i asked why they were charging me so much, to which no one could answer. no one. not even the owner. yup, that's right. the owner!!! she said she had nothing to do with the pricing & couldn't tell me why it cost that much. when i asked her who could tell me why i was paying so much, she said she wasn't sure. um . . .what the heck?!?! was this for real?! i seriously thought i was being punked or something. in fact, i wish i had been. when i asked what the pricing would be like tomorrow, the day of my wedding, she said she didn't know that either & that it just depended. so basically all my bridesmaids were going to have to pay $250 up for their hair & make-up & wouldn't be given a price until after it was done--& that it all just simply depended. so if curling your hair cost $150, i could only imagine what an updo would cost. again, not at all what is posted on their site for pricing & what i had been told when i booked the appointments. sooo crazy & the biggest scam!!! i asked the owner what she did there, if she had no oversight of the finances, & she said her job was customer service. HA, what a joke!!! i told her i was NOT HAPPY!!! because she thought there was no way that a bride would cancel her appointment the day before her wedding, she thought that i was trapped & would just have to pay a small fortune for terrible hair & make-up. well contours salon, you picked the wrong bride to mess with!!! no way was i going to let them totally take advantage of me & my entire wedding party. so i called their bluff & cancelled. read more

I came here for my first time this weekend and I really liked it. I had a gel mani and I was able to book an appointment the same day. The nail tech did a good job and took her time which I appreciate. The only down fall was the small selection of nail colors. I have come accustomed to a large selection living in NYC so I understand the difference in clientele but sometimes more options are nice. Forget about work, kids, bills and other stressful things in life. The staff takes over and sometimes I was so relaxed I could not move. They use no animal tested products which is important to me. I scheduled a full body massage at Contours Spa. From the beginning, I questioned their level of professionalism. When we walked into the room of my massage, the masseuse had me get undressed, but did not leave the room - she continued to set up. The next thing that ruined my experience was the lack of pressure I received - I asked for a deep tissue massage and felt nothing. For the amount of money that was spent on this massage, I expected more out of the quality of this experience. I've received much better service for less at other spas. read more
