The company then quoted me $2200 as the cost to replace it and reiterated that this did not include the $99 that they already charged me. So yes, had I gone with that company, it would have cost me $2300. Armed with this information, I posted pictures and exactly what the "diagnosis" said and asked for emailed quotes...to be clear I said EMAIL only. I then got no less than 10 phone calls saying "please give us a call so we can talk about your situation. Some called more than once. Lakeland Heating and Cooling (Jason) was nothing like that... $1270 flat rate to replace the water heater. Yes, thats how he replied in his email.. as I requested. He came in.. with the water heater... replaced it... and went on his way. Other companies, that followed directions, also came in higher than $2000. I am EXTREMELY satisfied with Jason and Lakeland! My furnace went out and my home warranty company HWA called him out to do a diagnostic on the unit. The owner (Demetrius Hughes) came out a day later after I filed the claim. He wasn't there no more than five minutes. He didnt look inside the unit. He didn't really even attempt to start it. He told me all this lies about my unit including I had water damage. He made it seem like he was doing me a favor by saying these are not cover charges but I'm going be nice today and say you have a crack heat exchange. At the time I thought he was a good person looking out for others. I told me that I would get this information to the company HWA so they could replace the unit ASAP. Now it's the winter time in Chicago. He never called the company. They called him several times for the information. They reached him 10 days later. At that point he told them that my unit needed to be exchanged After 7 days of waiting I a cold house with a sick child, I decided to call another company to see if my furnace was a quick fix. Polar heating and cooling came out the same day. The guy was down stairs 3 mins and was able to get the furnace to start. He said that it was NO WATER DAMAGE AND THERE WAS IN DEED A CRACKED HEAT EXCHANGE. He couldn't leave the unit running because it was kicking out too much carbon monoxide, he said it will need to be replaced. I reached excellent service from this company. I told the guy from polar that since this is a covered service we will wait for our home warranty to replace it. Even after we got the approval for the replacement unit. The guy from Your way kept giving us the run around about everything. Saying that HWA never called him to say the new unit was available to pick up. WE called HWA several times they indicated that your way heating has been informed that the replacement until was able to be picked up. It had already been over 10 days without heat. They told him on a Wednesday that the replacement unit was able to pick up. My home went close to a month without heat in the cold Chicago months before he finally got it installed. The fire department was called and we (me, my wife, and our 3 kids) were without heat on a 20 degree night. The following morning I made a few inquiries just hoping to get something scheduled and I was surprised to find they had someone available almost immediately. The estimate fee (only $75) was waived once Andy informed us what we needed, 1 hour later our house went from 65 degrees to a comfortable 74. Thank you so much. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND them.

By also figuring out that the gas meter was the issue that needed to be taken care by our gas service provider, Andy saved us so much money on unnecessary repairs because the initial issue was outside the furnace.
