It had to take three visits to finally write a review. (Insert chuckle here.) If you're a Converse fiend (c'est moi!) and you happen to be around this area, this is THE place to shop for the brand! It may not have as much as the ones located in bigger outlets, but I find a deal each time I come through. I pretty much have all the colors of the classics, and email updates show they are now coming up with new styles. I figure I'd come by and check to see if this particular store had any. And what great timing: any clearance item (which was probably 90% of their merch) was 30% off across the board. Needless to say, I didn't come out of the store empty handed. Overall store was organized and clean. Staff was very friendly. I really like this store! Looking forward to the next visit! Here's hoping for more bargain buys then! read more

Just passed through. I was considering Chuck Taylor lows in red. The Berkeley High Reunion Picnic is in a few weeks and thought I might go wearing OG school colors. Not much of a color selection of traditional Chucks. Black and white colors and out of the most popular sizes. No red. There is a large choices in other styles and colors. I will NOT come to this store unless they are having a holiday sale. They charge way too much, despite being a clearance store, for canvas and rubber shoes. Come on. Yesterday, I did swoop up some pretty cute chucks. The Memorial Day sale is buy one, get one free. So, I got a basic pair of black chucks for work and regular use, and then a more fashionable and unique pair with a striped wool-like fabric. The staff was very accommodating. Not even two minutes in, and an employee was asking how I was, notified me of the sale, and was attentive in checking up on me throughout my 30 minute visit, about three times. Not too much, just the right amount of support. Converse are a staple for me, me having flat feet and all, and being a middle school teacher... duh. So, I will probably return, but as stated above, you will not see me here besides those holiday weekends! read more

The staff are friendly and helpful. They have a variety of selection that fits my taste and good price like the elusive dainty ox that I once bought for $11. Wooow! Excellent customer service. Arrived a few minutes to 10:00am. Store opened promptly at 10:00am. Only 2 people working the store this morning. However they greeted us with a smile. Asked if we had any questions. One of the guys(wish I got his name) helped both of my daughters find the sizes they were looking for. So yesterday(7/7/18) I went into the CONVERSE (San Leandro, CA) (CONVERSE) to exchange some shoes because I got the wrong size, and when I got in I asked the guy at the counter(white guy) about exchanging. He asked if I had my receipt and I said no, he responded with "Ok, cool." After going to get the correct size, a younger female(white) was at the desk and put my things on the counter. She explained that I wasn't going to be able to refund(the same amount I paid) or get the same value because I didn't have my receipt. In my head, I was upset at myself for forgetting the receipt at home. I said aloud, but to myself..."This is some bullshit...that's like $20..." I turned back around and was at the counter facing the female. Well about 3.5 seconds later this dude(black) comes to the desk and ask me in a very aggressive and overbearing way, "So you cussing my employees out?" Clearly, in my head I didn't....so I looked at him right in his eye and said, "What are u talking about? I ain't cuss nobody out." He responded, "So my employee is a liar?" Clearly I wasn't understanding what he was talking about. I then questioned the employee if I cussed "AT" her, she responded with you did cuss. Because I'm a much bigger person than her, and clearly a better "Leader" her BOSS, who's name is Eric(He soon after informed me of who he was), I said, "Obvisously you took what I said out of context, in addition, I wasn't even talking to you...I was mad at myself for forgetting the receipt at home. And because of your failure to be able to notice that, I'll apologize." Eric, the BOSS then starts explaining the stores procedures ect ect, not like it was necessary, and then came his introduction of who he was. The point is, that interaction could have went completely wrong! Had I felt like he was attacking me, which more than likely any other person may have.....They would have responded and it wouldn't have been very nice at all. As a STORE MANAGER, ERIC should understand their is a way to approach customers when their is an issue....and he needs to keep in mind as a STORE MANAGER how he comes off. Eric is about 6'2, roughly 230-240lbs, niecely toned....attractive black dude...but looks could be mistakingly as "MEAN" lookin'....and overly aggressive. Without an apology for the misunderstanding, Eric walked off....I'm not sure if he is ready for such a position that deals with the public. I know in my managerial position, I deal with different personalities everyday...and might I add different nationalities! And normally for a much longer period...Eric could use a few pointers! Who doesn't love Chuck Taylors? I love them so much I have 5 or more pairs. My mini-me has to rock black shoes with her uniform so she was due for a new pair of Chucks. I had 20 minutes to spare between errands so I headed to the outlet at Marina Square. My good parking karma was in full effect so I grabbed a spot a few steps away from the door and walked in. The shoes are arranged by size and color so I quickly found the black kids' shoes. Stock was plentiful despite the back to school crowd. I grabbed my shoes and paid in cash and was out the door in minutes. Why no fifth star? I had hoped for a deeper discount but the shoes cost what they might at Kohl's. Still, this is preferable to braving the malls or big box stores this time of year. read more

She was incredibly helpful in finding just the right shoes for my impending foray into powerlifting. And not only that, she was so excited for me! I'm giving this four stars because there is rarely a place, if ever, where the kids and I can all go in to buy shoes, and actually find some we like and under the same roof. Usually i have to go here, and she has to go somewhere else, and he... you get the picture. It is cheaper for the older styles, but hey they were all new to me. They seem to be holding up very well too. The people who work there are very helpful and available. I don't know the managers name, and I wish i did, because she's very helpful and has great energy. Came here today (Sunday) afternoon to buy a pair of white high top chucks. They pretty much have every single size of chucks so they're pretty well stocked. I did not have a hard time finding my size as every shelf was pretty organized and clean. Found my size, tried it on and heard the sales associate behind me helping a family with a little girl trying on some chucks. Now this sales associate was super informational for that girl because I heard the little girl saying she wanted a smaller size and the sales associate really instilled on her that getting at least half a size up would be better because she was of course a growing young girl! I am seriously obsessed with anything Converse. I love the fact that there are a million and one options. I come here maybe once a month and everytime I come back they have different styles. Of course you can always find the classics though. The employees are always very friendly and helpful. Nothing negative at all to say. The only thing I may have to say is be prepared to drive around looking for parking if you come here during the weekend. I have to say the gentleman who greeted us when we entered the store was very friendly and helpful! There were 2 tables in the front of the store stocked with low top and high top Chuck Taylors. They were marked at $29.99 plus the shoes on these tables were eligible for the buy 1, get the 2nd for 50% off promo (a lot of other newer styles were not eligible). The hubby picked out a pair of black high tops and I picked out a pair of black low tops (both from the tables). The gentleman I described earlier rung us up and let us know that the soles of the shoes we were purchasing were non-marking soles which meant they didn't have the linen fabric like the regular shoes. Apparently, this is some slight defect that didn't bother us, so we made our purchase anyway. I've worn my shoes once and haven't noticed a problem at all. In fact, without that linen material, I think they are not as slippery on the bottom which I like. The total for both pairs was $49 with tax! Score!
